Because that is exactly what is happening. @ConceptualJames I was a Democratic voter (never a Democrat, never Woke). Reflecting on why and what changed, it's because 1) I didn't understand the relevant topics at all but thought I did better than most because I'm smart
2) I was surrounded by other such people who also voted Democrat 3) Fear-based propaganda 4) Anti-Republican propaganda that renders conservative positions "dirty" or low-status, like bad, dumb, and crazy 5) Complete inability to understand or recognize Marxism 6) Low interest in understanding politics, economics, etc., combined with a high interest in wanting to win arguments about politics, economics, etc. As these things changed, so did my voting, but I also had to give myself permission to make that change and feel like others supported them (low confidence, beta behavior). It's definitely a feeling of violating some profound taboo even to entertain a deeper thought, much less cast a vote or voice support. Leftism is a cult. If you leave it, you can absolutely feel it, both in how you're treated and how you feel. Upon reflection, it's undeniable, likely a universal experience among those who walk away.
Important point: Leftists are conditioned, and indeed condition themselves, to stop any line of thinking or questioning which might cause their foundational dogmas to be undermined. Whenever they find themselves beginning to have Wrongthoughts, they castigate themselves for "racist thinking" or whatever and stop the inquiry. This self-enforced system of "taboos" keeps most leftists from ever thinking their way out of the cult:

Because you think you're smart but not really interested, you Google a lot of quick answers and depends on finding the "trump card" talking points, which the media will supply, so you can win arguments and get back to your shallow life. It's not a lot deeper than that. Real understanding isn't even interesting so long as you can sound smart and win arguments.
You also shouldn't think too much about any line of thought that might break you out, so the taboo factor is extremely high. These roadblocks to understanding are enforced by moral extortion and thought-terminating cliches, also supplied by the media. "That's transphobaracist," e.g., or "trans rights are human rights." Your Leftist social circle (circus?) intuits and suffers these same taboos and has the same cliches, so you live keenly aware people won't like you (for "good" reason) if you hold deviant opinions. Shock Study: Most Displays of Antisemitism are From Islamists and Progressives, not the Much-Obsessed-Over "Far-Right"

With antisemitism rising across the globe, from assaults to graffiti, a new analysis finds the political motivation of perpetrators skews decisively to the left, with extreme progressives far more likely to commit such attacks as compared to Islamists or far-right activists like neo-Nazis. The new findings come as the Democratic National Committee braces for potential unrest from anti-Israel protesters at its nominating convention next week in Chicago just days after presumptive nominee Kamala Harris was confronted at a New York fundraiser by a protest that required some arrests. The weekly Global Antisemitism Report published by the Combat Antisemitism Movement analyzed 113 incidents that targeted Jewish victims worldwide and found that 57.5% of the perpetrators were identified as far leftists, 22.1% of them were Islamists, 11.5% were unknown and 8.9% were done by far-right extremists.

"I've got three young kids, and they're out of school," the Pennsylvania senator said of his absence this week in Chicago, waving off the suggestion that he might not be welcome there. "That's four days I can spend with my children." ... [I]t's hard to imagine Fetterman being welcome in Chicago--as strong a sign as any of the paradigm shift that has taken place inside his party.

It's true that he'd embraced border security, but his real crime--the thing that had alienated him from the progressives--was Israel. They don't let him forget it. In November, protesters outside the Capitol booed him. In January, anti-Israel protesters descended on Fetterman's home in Braddock. (The senator took to the roof, waving an Israeli flag.) Online activists called him Genocide John. And every Friday for months, protesters have demonstrated outside his Philadelphia office, chanting, "Let Gaza live," and "Cease-fire now." (The protests are called "Fridays at Fetterman's.") There are even people on his current staff who think he is wrong.
"I don't agree with him" about Israel and Gaza, Carrie Adams, Fetterman's communications director, told me in a phone call, after my interview with the senator ended. "I have a sense that his international views are a lot less nuanced than my generation, because when he was growing up, it was might makes right, and for my generation and younger who, of course, are the ones protesting this, they have a much more nuanced view of the region," Adams added. I've been a reporter since the summer of 1998, when I covered Bill Clinton's trip to Martha's Vineyard for the Vineyard Gazette. This was the first time I'd ever encountered anyone--on Capitol Hill or anywhere else, on the record, off the record, on background, whatever--criticizing "the principal."
It's true that young people especially disagree with Fetterman. Sixty-five percent of today's college students have a favorable opinion of the pro-Hamas encampments that took over so many university campuses last spring and are now threatening to explode back to life--on campus and at the convention, where as many as 100,000 protesters are expected. But still. If sporting a keffiyeh and retweeting whatever the Gaza Ministry of Health just said is how young progressives signal to each other that they're in the in-group, that they've gone full radical chic, then Fetterman is whatever the opposite of that is. Which doesn't seem to bother him.

They will also have the option of getting a free vasectomy or a medication abortion just blocks away. House Probe Concludes That Biden Committed Impeachable Offenses By Using Government Power to Enrich His Family

However, the report admits it cannot establish a "clear quid pro quo" linking the payments to Biden family members to specific actions taken by Biden in exchange for those payments. The report argues, however, that this kind of clear quid pro quo is unnecessary for impeachment -- the Democrats said so when they impeached Trump.
The Republican-led House committees leading the impeachment probe into Joe Biden concluded Monday the president engaged in impeachable conduct by helping to enrich his family with millions of dollars in business schemes that traded on his name and then defrauded voters by lying to cover up the scandal. The House Oversight, Ways and Means and Judiciary Committees said they believe the evidence from their nine-month investigation establishes that Biden abused his office and violated his oaths under the Constitution, according to the 291-page report reviewed by Just the News. "First and foremost, overwhelming evidence demonstrates that President Biden participated in a conspiracy to monetize his office of public trust to enrich his family," the committee's concluded in the the report released the day Biden was to be honored at the opening of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. "Among other aspects of this conspiracy, the Biden family and their business associates received tens of millions of dollars from foreign interests by leading those interests to believe that such payments would provide them access to and influence with President Biden," the executive summary added.
The report puts a finishing touch on a scandal that began in 2019 during the advent of the last presidential election, but it is unlikely to result in a formal impeachment since Biden has stepped down and handed over the reins of the Democratic Party to his vice president, Kamala Harris. The committee cited evidence that Biden "actively participated" in an influence-peddling conspiracy by attending dinners with his family's foreign associates and speaking to them over the phone. These interactions were documented by email evidence and testimony from several of Hunter Biden's ex-business partners, including Devon Archer and Jason Galanis. The committees also said evidence shows Hunter Biden used his father's official position as vice president to "garner favorable outcomes in foreign business dealings and legal proceedings." Beyond Biden's conduct as vice president, the report argued the Justice Department during his presidency deviated from normal practices in order to provide favorable treatment to Hunter Biden, throwing up roadblocks in the investigation and preventing attorneys from pursuing certain avenues of inquiry, as two IRS whistleblowers testified to the House Ways and Means Committee. The president also engaged in a coverup himself by lying about his and his family's conduct, the report alleged. "President Joe Biden conspired to commit influence peddling and grift," the committees wrote. "In doing so, he abused his office and, by repeatedly lying about his abuse of office, has defrauded the United States to enrich his family."

For example, his role on the board of directors of the embattled Ukrainian energy company, Burisma, whose owner Mykola Zlochevksy was facing corruption allegations in Ukraine. Biden received a $1 million a year salary for his role on the board. After receiving that position he would use his influence in Washington, D.C. to help organize a public relations campaign for the company and work to shut down the corruption investigation into Zlochevsky, even meeting personally with State Department officials. In another instance, Hunter Biden received a $5 million loan in 2017 from entities connected to the energy firm CEFC China Energy. Just the News reported in 2022 that Hunter Biden had received this $5 million "interest free," forgivable loan. Emails from Hunter Biden's abandoned laptop showed that the loan was intended to benefit the Biden family, referred to as the "BD family."
President Biden's participation in this conspiracy to enrich his family constitutes impeachable conduct. By monetizing the Vice Presidency for his family's benefit, he abused his office of public trust, placing the welfare of his family ahead of the welfare of the United States. He also put foreign interests ahead of the interests of the American people. Indeed, precedent set by House Democrats in 2019 in their impeachment of President Donald J. Trump establishes that "abuse of office," defined as the exercise of "official power to obtain an improper personal benefit, while ignoring or injuring the national interest," is an impeachable offense.Hello, everyone. Fiery anti-Israel protests got underway Sunday on the eve of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, with demonstrators disrupting a delegate party and one warning, “Welcome to hell week.”Have these Muslims not considered that Kamala's lip service on Israel – pun fully intended – is just taqqiya in action so she can yet retain financial and political support from the self-gassing Jews in name only? And all the others protesting for abortion and the alphabet soup of perversion can all go to Tehran for their free rooftop flying lesson. Meanwhile, there's this little item, but I don't necessarily think it means the taqqiya is on the other foot:
Protesters couldn’t wait to confront prominent Democrats over the war in Gaza as hundreds flooded the streets and vowed to “bring the war home,” according to footage across social media.
Demonstrations are expected to happen throughout the week as national Dems celebrate the nomination of Vice President Kamala Harris, 59, and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, 60.
At one point, protesters targeted a delegate party at Navy Pier where one rabble-rouser reached the stage, grabbed the microphone and accused the crowd of “funding a genocide,” according to the Chicago Sun-Times. “The Harris-Biden administration keeps sending money to Israel,” the protester said before getting dragged off stage, according to a video posted by an anti-Israel group. “Free Palestine!” Others rallied outside the event and reportedly warned of a “week of justice.”
One organizer, who only gave her name as Jinan, said disruptors were there to confront the Democratic Party over Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.
“Welcome to hell week,” she said, according to the Sun-Times.
“DNC go home,” demonstrators waving Palestinian flags chanted, according to a reporter for the Blaze. “Or we’re gonna bring the war home.”
Others that joined protests on Sunday also called for stronger abortion and LGBTG rights, according to reports.
“She’s not going to take a legitimate stance, so until we can have Kamala Harris actually come to the table and make a legitimate concession actually make a legitimate push to get the Arab and Muslim vote,” said protester Nael, according to ABC 7 Chicago.
Vice President Kamala Harris has spent the last 6 months pandering to Hamas supporters and there’s no sign that she’s about to stop. Instead all signs point to matters getting worse. The DNC convention is expected to include an anti-Israel activist as a speaker along with a family of a hostage (presumably a carefully chosen one opposed to Israel continuing the war on Hamas).Bring the war home, indeed. The war is already home, and has been for decades, as the lat vestiges of America as founded are on the verge of being dismantled forever, in the wake of a decades long counter-American revolution to fundamentally transform us into yet another tyrannical hell on earth. In that regard, what better example can there be but of Chicago itself:
And Kamala reportedly met in private with the mayor of America’s Jihad Capital. . . Kamala appeared open to an arms embargo in a private exchange but her campaign quickly backpedaled. Biden had initiated a partial embargo on his own already. The more revealing slip here is that Kamala met with Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud. After the Hamas atrocities of Oct 7, Dearborn Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud had addressed a pro-Hamas rally declaring that Dearborn was “the city of resistance”

After nearly 100 years of Democratic rule, the Windy City is a basket case. Soaring crime, high taxes, crippling debt, crumbling infrastructure, and a declining population are just some of the miseries inflicted on its citizens. Chicago is the murder capital of America — with someone shot every two hours and someone killed every 17 hours. So far this year, 353 victims, most of them black, have been murdered in Chicago. The homicide rate is five times higher than New York’s. “Democrats wanted to hold the convention somewhere safer, but Beirut wasn’t available,” quipped one wag. . . . . . Despite education spending double the national average, at almost $30,000 per student annually, less than one-quarter of Chicago’s students can read at grade level and fewer than one in five are proficient a math — and it’s worse for black students, with just 17% able to read and 8% proficient in math.Munchausen's by Progressivism. Create the problem, exacerbate the problem, blame it on others and demand others be held responsible. At least when you're being mugged, you theoretically have the option of "your money or your life." With the Democrat left, it's "your money AND your life." Taking her cue from Johnson, Chicago Teachers Union president Stacy Davis Gates blames standardized testing, which she says is “junk science rooted in white supremacy [and] born out of the eugenics movement [which] has always sought to see black people as inferior.”
As a reward for their betrayal of Chicago’s children, the union is demanding pay rises and other perks for its members, totaling another $50 billion that would boost the average teacher’s salary by 50 percent to nearly $145,000.
To pay for it all, Brandon wants to raise taxes. “Seventy percent of large corporations in the state of Illinois did not pay a corporate tax,” he said last year. “And it’s that kind of restraint on our budget that has . . . led to poverty, of course, that has led to violence.”
. . . So, when Kamala Harris and Tim Walz take the stage in Chicago this week, they will feel right at home. The deep blue city is a showpiece for the policies they want to impose on the rest of the country.
