++++ Okay. Where is the DoJ's objection to - and litigation to remove - RealID? RealID actually *is* an imposition and creates an inequitable and likely unconstitutional barrier to domestic travel. It is far more aggressive than any state's voter ID requirements (as far as I know) and has been imposed as a prerequisite for interstate travel. It is also a *direct* consequence of exactly the kind of game-playing that happens in "sanctuary" jurisdictions. So if it's an unfair and unconscionable burden voting, why is the DoJ not demanding a repeal of RealID as an excessive burden on interstate travel in the style of the time? It is offensive in the extreme and shockingly insulting that the argument, which distilled to its essence is that minorities are too dumb to be able to prove their citizenship, is entertained by supposedly intelligent and well educated legal authorities. Yet here we are!
The foundation of modern "woke" liberalism is that minorities really are inferior so everyone has to be a magical helper to any women/blacks/gays you encounter. The most recent example comes from video games, where journalists are upset about a made-in-China game where you play as a 6 foot tall martial artist monkey from Chinese mythology. What are the journalists upset about? That you can't play as a black person instead of a monkey. Remember, they're saying this and you're the racist. ++++ Eh, short term. Their support is needed for 1-3 election cycles. That's how long it takes to completely replace the machinery with loyalist operatives. Once that happens, actual distribution is irrelevant because they control the voting apparatus. I doubt that urban blacks *actually* support Democrats at 95% rates, but their ballots sure as hell do. These games only need to be run for a few years. Then you get the apparatus, then you get to dictate outcomes for the jurisdiction. CBD, re Kagan. It doesn't work like that on injunctions and Scotus during their breaks.
The justice in question supervising a circuit can stay enforcement of a law briefly (as in a couple of days) that permit consultations with other justices as to whether to grant an injunction until the court gets submissions and decides whether to grant cert. Justices, themselves, can only delay enforcement of a statute for a couple of days without consulting the other justices. Posted by: whig at August 20, 2024 11:07 AM (kW+z9) 33

Sadly, they are correct. A significant percentage of minorities are indeed too stupid -- or more specifically, too lazy and irresponsible -- to reliably be able to prove their citizenship. Whenever proof of citizenship is required, you'll be reduced participation across the board (from all races) even from actual citizens. But that drop-off will be significantly more pronounced in minorities. Posted by: Doctor Elric Blade, Esq. at August 20, 2024 11:08 AM (iFTx/) 36

"Register thousands of illegals, make sure their votes are controlled by the Democrat cheat machine, and all will be well in progressive America!"
Thousands at every lib city DMV? I think the total number could be over a million, maybe more. I recall a few years ago the driver's licenses did not show any indication if the driver was a foreign national. It was deliberately left off. So if they go to vote, they have a legit looking ID. And other reports of signing up illegals at their housing locations, or any place they gather. It seems to be a major part of the Dem strategy to produce enough ballots (even if illegals don't show up to vote). The magic suitcases of miracle ballots will arrive, and watchers won't be able to spot the illegals ... or so I've heard. The only reason to be against solid voter ID is to make cheating easier. There is no other valid reason. Cheating is not a valid reason, therefore solid, state issued, citizenship confirming, photo ID is not an unreasonable demand and must be the law of the land in all elections. Having non-citizens vote disenfranchises the votes of citizens. Government officials who advocate against photo ID need to be put in the re-education camps or launched into the Atlantic via canon.

What if it is true? Certain groups test far more poorly than others, and do seem to achieve far less. What if there are some groups who are in fact predominantly paste-eaters? We seem unwilling to acknowledge this possibility, all the while acknowledging that some groups are prone to test better and achieve more, like Jews and some Asians. That video of that scrap-crotch Martha Raddatz badgering that young black lady over Kumswalla is something else. For at least these reasons:
1. It wasn't an interview. It was a badgering interrogation. Smartha clearly didn't like -- and wasn't expecting -- the girl's answer that she favored Trump over Kumswalla. That was unapproved thought from the plantation. 2. The girl was articulate and seemed to have thought this through. Again, Smartha wasn't expecting that. She expected some blathering nonsense from the Young Negro. 3. One of the reasons the girl gave for not liking Kumswalla is one I've been pounding on from Day One: blacks don't like her because she's only black when it suits her, and Indian when it doesn't. Biden's Dog, I've been curious about some things and wanted to ask you about them if you don't mind sharing. I'm inclined to like Netanyahu but I wonder about some of his actions, keeping in mind that even the best people make mistakes. I assume he rushed to congratulate Biden's "win" because his intelligence information indicated that the coup was going to succeed and it was smart to try to be on Biden's good side. But what about the Covid shot mandates despite the injuries and lack of efficacy? And how did Oct 7 happen despite what seems like very capable defense and intelligence agencies and a strong survival instinct? Posted by: Emmie at August 20, 2024 11:04 AM (Sf2cq) - Dinner time here. Short answer. I haven't liked Netanyahu for decades. He showed his failures way back at the time of the Gush Katif expulsion. He has no vision of what a Jewish nation or homeland is or should do. Everything he does is out of what he imagines is "pragmatism,", whether political or military. And here we are! Israel's military and judicial systems are corrupted. Sound familiar. And much of this was done under Netanyahu's watch. Posted by: Bulgaroctonus at August 20, 2024 11:19 AM (v6JzV) ++++ It is exactly that. Early in broadcasting, the networks identified Flint, MI as having the "thinnest" and clearest American English accent. No matter what, virtually any English speaker on earth would be able to understand what was said by someone from in or around Flint, MI. The dialect is (or was) absurdly clear and precise. It became the de facto standard for national broadcast. If you want to break into the big national newscasts, you'd better speak Flint English. If a network was grooming you from a local affiliate to join the big time, they'd send you to a speech coach to teach it to you if needed. National elections here are functionally fraudulent. There's no over-arching set of 'rules' as to how each state conducts the election for president. The fraud in literally baked into the process. This state requires ID, that one doesn't. This state counts paper ballots, that one uses thumb drives. This state counts ballots in one night, that one takes a month.

There was a local grocery chain that made a big deal about everyday low prices you don't need to sign up for their discount system.
It was overwhelmingly Hispanic customers. Not sure which was chicken, which was egg. But any system that requires proof of citizenship is going to disproportionately have an impact on Hispanics. Not because they are too dumb, but because there are a lot of non-citizens in their ranks. And the point of ID requirements being racist for blacks isn't because they can't go to Kinko's and make copies, its because the machine politics in places with high concentrations of blacks rely on unverified ballots to work. Same timeframe, at least. Posted by: OneEyedJack at August 20, 2024 11:32 AM (FCbAQ) ++++ Mid-Atlantic (Pennsylvania, Maryland, etc.) are pretty damn clear, too. Much of the dominance of NY/NJ accents was because that's where the national feeds originated, but they still tried to thin them out for national broadcast. The BBC did the same thing. They wanted that "posh" and tony London accent for wide broadcast. Go watch old original Top Gear and you'll hear Jeremy Clarkson sounding like the gentry. His accent went down-market (his natural voice, I suspect) for the reboot. I guess the BBC quit enforcing the Westminster accent for broadcast by then. The Boston accent must be one of the hardest to erase. It's part and parcel with their attitude, I think.
Also, while I know I am in the minority on this, I think various NYC area accents are downright *hot* on women. The Boston accent, though, never is and never can be. Annoying on men, intolerable on women. Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at August 20, 2024 11:31 AM (HnUIn) There are several "Boston" accents, depending on whether you are in Southie, Charlestown or the Back Bay (though I will note that the true Brahmin accent - the Charles Emerson Winchester, if you will - is a dying breed). The Sam Adams "Your cousin from Boston" is a parody Southie accent, though you'll hear softer versions of it IRL. I am Massachusetts born and bred, but I also grew up in a mixed Irish / English household, so while I do have something of a MA accent, it is tinged with broad "A"s and such like. A bastardized "pahk yah cah in Hahvahd Yahd," if you will. A Kennedy accent is a different animal altogether. If you believe it's all useless and hopeless, why waste your time here? - Because misery loves company and the black pillers are desperate for that company. They want everyone as miserable as they are. -- Also they're trying to get people to understand that now is the time to buy ammo, food, and water, and that the facade that was America doesn't exist the way people thought it did. Also, look at your cable phone and utility bills and see how many government "fees" they collect so the poor can get the same shit for free. But it is happening (except for TVs for some reason) and consumer demand is the only metric companies have to go on. I almost only use it for movies, and I tend to use another site that provides links to Amazon because I know I'll be able to find what I need in a search through the other site, but Amazon will give me a page of foreign releases before it gives me the obvious choice.

I used to use Amazon to find a product and them go to the actual manufacturer's website to purchase the thing.
Amazon's search isn't even that useful anymore. Posted by: FeatherBlade at August 20, 2024 12:18 PM (hB7mE) 356
Amazon's search system is awful. It is inconsistent, which suggests to me that they have algorithms that are designed to push certain products.
Posted by: CharlieBrown'sDildo They do and part of their search engine has been compromised by the same tactics used to render Google useless for a lot of searches. Crap generic Chinesium products often show up first along with useless add on products that obscure what you really want. I often use general internet search engines directly via their shopping recommendations which often then have links to the specific product in Amazon. Walmart dot com, if they can curb the useless search links from affiliated junk sellers, has an opportunity to surpass Amazon. Amazon seems to be increasingly phoning it in as a seller. I wish Amazon had a way to exclude certain items from a search. For example, if I search on vacuum sealers, most of the first pages show me rolls of vacuum bag material. Is there a way to say search on this, but exclude this?

Companies are testing the limits of customer willingness to pay. Call it gouging if you're a democrat, but several have admitted as much in interviews or yearly notices (McDonalds).
The only way to stop it is to refuse the service or product, and so far everyone is stretching their budgets to maintain lifestyle. Not for much longer. We're in such credit card debt that it must stop soon. A retrraction in pricing may soon follow. Posted by: OneEyedJack at August 20, 2024 12:09 PM (FCbAQ) ------------ Agree. Chick-fil-A is charging $5.09 before sales taxes for just its basic chicken sandwich (deep fried 1/4lb chicken breast, two pickles and a toasted hamburger bun). I doubt the input costs are more than $2 per sandwich including labor, energy and real estate costs. Posted by: MAGA_Ken at August 20, 2024 12:18 PM (2fIO4) 360

>>Companies are testing the limits of customer willingness to pay.
I would say the only companies that are really using this strategy are the automakers, most other industries are simply adjusting to conditions on the ground. I believe the average increase of an automobile over the last 4 years has been in the neighborhood of 35pct with companies like Stellantis/Jeep being somwhere in the 50pct range. Posted by: Thomas Bender - The really clever part of this is automakers have been slowly admitting that they're just fronts for banks/finance services, and they've been conditioning consumers to only worry about the payment. We're at house-priced vehicles now, and not even for anything fancy. Just a truck. And people are fine with it. I mean, they might complain a little or say the price out loud in exasperation, but they'll see what monthly payment they can afford and sign on the dotted line. The only way to stop it is to refuse the service or product, and so far everyone is stretching their budgets to maintain lifestyle. The problem I can see with that is that once you've found the limit by driving your customers away, it's going to be hard to get them back. You can by lower your prices but because since they're no longer coming to your business, how will they know? Posted by: Oddbob at August 20, 2024 12:19 PM (/y8xj) 364

Wartime - the government printed lots during WWII.
There was nowhere to spend it, however - not on any consumer goods, as every industry was converted to producing war material. The excess fundage was encouraged to be parked in government bonds, and they ran wartime bond drives every month or so for years. Even so, once the war was "over"; a period of high monetary inflation ensued, as was inevitable. They still passed budgets in those days, at least. And had a positive balance of trade. No longer, not since the 70s. In West Germany after the war, factories had signs saying "Export Or Die". A more succinct expression of how a successful economy must make things people want to buy. What does America offer these days in terms of Exports? Posted by: Common Tater at August 20, 2024 12:22 PM (ttNwz) 371

Posted by: CharlieBrown'sDildo ========== Last time I checked, yes. Selling goods is a relatively low profit margin business nowadays which is why Amazon puts cheap Chinesium crap in search engine links. Higher profit margin. Same as google loses money over most of its wares except they make it up via AdSense. Both Google and Amazon, are conglomerates that leak money in a number of places but rely on just one division to bring home the bacon. Posted by: whig at August 20, 2024 12:24 PM (kW+z9) 372
