[NYC: 10/14/2024]
The weekly Global Antisemitism Report published by the Combat Antisemitism Movement analyzed 113 incidents that targeted Jewish victims worldwide and found that 57.5% of the perpetrators were identified as far leftists, 22.1% of them were Islamists, 11.5% were unknown and 8.9% were done by far-right extremists. This Week's GLOBAL ANTISEMITISM REPORT If the media were even the tiniest bit honest, they would report the makeup of the mostly peaceful but always violent protests against Israel, Jews, Zionism, and more broadly, Western Culture. Does anyone believe that those riots are populated by right-wing activists who will be voting for Donald Trump in November?

- Alexandre de Moraes, flamboyantly psychotic president of Brazil's Superior Electoral Court, threatened in a series of secret orders to start arresting Twitter's employees in Brazil if they didn't enforce content bans over which they had no control.
Twitter published the secret orders and shut down its office in Brazil.
Of course, Twitter is a social network, so it is still available in Brazil. Just beyond the reach of the courts.
Take note, Terry Britain.

John Landis

John Landis was one of those young, bearded guys who took Hollywood by storm starting in the 70s on, alongside other filmmakers like Scorsese, Spielberg, and de Palma. He was brash, bringing anarchy to comedy with a gritty visual aesthetic endemic to 70s filmmaking, and he went from success to success to success with Animal House to The Blues Brothers to Trading Places, being key in helping to create the movie star that was Eddie Murphy.
And then Landis took the golden opportunity of his career already marked by little more than success: working with Steven Spielberg on a Twilight Zone movie. There was no producer to work with more than Spielberg in the 80s. He helped secure the careers of people like Robert Zemeckis and Joe Dante. Working with Spielberg was the path to a golden future, and John Landis managed the set where a botched special effects sequence involving a helicopter and firing mortars at night with two child actors who shouldn't have been there (the production was skirting child labor laws by paying them under the table) in the middle of the night. The mortar misfired, hitting the helicopter, and the aircraft fell from the sky, decapitating Vic Morrow and Myca Dinh Le before the helicopter fell on Renee Shin-Yi Chen, killing her instantly.
The trial coming out of the accident defined Landis' career from then on out. It took several years to be heard (the accident was in 1982 while the trial start in 1986, lasting 9 months), and there are tales of him getting into fights with his stars (most notably Chevy Chase on Three Amigos and Eddie Murphy on Coming to America) over talk about the trial. At the end of the trial, he was acquitted (as well as George Folsey, Landis' regular producer, Dorcey Wingo, the pilot, Dan Allingham, the production designer, and Paul Stewart, the explosives expert). The rampant ambition evident in the huge chase of The Blues Brothers was gone, never to return.
Perhaps he should have never been allowed near a film set again, but he kept working regularly for more than twenty years until his final feature film in 2010, Burke and Hare. There was a uniformity to the quality of his earlier films before the accident, as well as a burgeoning voice, but afterwards the most he could do was be a tool for others like Eddie Murphy. His career probably should have been over, but it was at least deeply diminished. That's not to say that all of his films after the accident are bad (Three Amigos and Coming to America, in particular, are worthy of note), but they feel rarer and more to do with other people than him.
So, that leaves the question of who he was as an artist? I know that I'm talking about him in the past tense, but the man is still alive. I just don't expect him to ever make another movie. Like Clint Eastwood (Juror #6 is already done filming) or Joe Dante (Little Shop of Horrors starts filming next month) or Terry Gilliam (he just secured funding for The Carnival at the End of Days), you know?

Welcome hobbyists! Pull up a chair and sit a spell with the horde in this little corner of the interweb. Got your ears on? A spin of the Ace of Spades wheel of hobbies has come up with a theme of amateur radio for this week.
Are you a ham operator? Do you SOTA or POTA? Do know the difference between CB, FRS, GMRS, MURS, and WTF? How do you connect with others? How did you get into the hobby? There are many different flavors of amateur radio - what is yours? Do you have fancy equipment? If you are not active now, were you active previously? What great stories does the horde have that involve a radio communication?
TRex is not wise in the ways of amateur radio, so looking for horde help to make this work. We're here to talk about amateur radio. As usual, keep this thread limited to hobbies. Politics and current events can wait for other threads. Play nice. Don't feed the trolls. No pants required. Copy?
Special welcome to the lurkers or those catching up on the thread later. Nice to have your eyeballs. You're always welcome to join in. Post anytime or drop an email in the hobby thread email box.Posted by: Open Blogger at 05:30 PM | Comments (140) | Trackbacks (Suck)

About the photo above:
I’m often amused by the names certain industries give to their products. Paint companies, for example, seem to look far and wide for color descriptors - like Pidgen, or Hale Navy. This also applies to plants. How did they come up with Better Boy tomatoes, or Gala apples? At any rate, I laughed out loud this spring when I came upon this variety of caladium, FROG IN A BLENDER. Of course, I had to buy a few! Liz953Of course!

I have been thinking about words this week. Some words seem more reliable than others. Someone in my social media circle (who had been introduced to academic post-modernism/Neo-Marxism a little later in life than is usual) said in an otherwise rational exchange of comments about denouncing "Christian Nationalism" and substituting a utopian multicultural power-sharing form of "democracy" - - presented as an earthly Christian "Kingdom of Heaven":
I don't really care what it's called. Words are all made up anyway."Christian" and "Socialist" are totally interchangeable. More on that later.
If printing money would end poverty, printing diplomas would end stupidity. - - Javier Milei

A couple of decades ago, I learned about contranyms. A contranym is a word that has two diametrically opposed meanings. For example, the word "dust" can mean the removal or application of dust (as in dust with powdered sugar), or "fast" which can mean speedy or stationary (to make fast a line on a sailboat).

The Supreme Court had previously struck down parts of Biden's Title IX rewrite as unconstitutional. Biden, for example, rewrote Congressionally-passed law to redefine women as including boys. The Court ruled, rightly, that the president cannot change the meaning of the law on his own whim.
Biden, in a purely political move to appease his leftwing lunatic base, appealed and asked the Supreme Court to pretty please allow him the powers of a tyrant. The Supreme Court says no.Gorsuch voted with the liberals. He's the Amy Coney Barrett of David Souters.
The Supreme Court in a 5-4 decision denied the Biden administration's emergency request to partially reinstate its new Title IX rule. The sweeping changes to Title IX, which protects against sex discrimination in schools, cover sexual orientation and gender identity for the first time. Various Republican state attorneys general have persuaded judges to block implementation in roughly half the country.
The Biden administration contended those injunctions went too far, urging the Supreme Court to narrow them to primarily block the prohibitions on gender identity discrimination at the center of the challenges -- allowing the other changes to go into effect. Those updates, which were set to go into effect on Aug. 1, span from accommodations for pregnant students to retaliation protections to recordkeeping requirements. "On this limited record and in its emergency applications, the Government has not provided this Court a sufficient basis to disturb the lower courts' interim conclusions that the three provisions found likely to be unlawful are intertwined with and affect other provisions of the rule," according to the court's unsigned order. ... The Biden administration has defended its updates to Title IX, which covers schools, as consistent with the court's doctrine. The court's unsigned opinion indicates all nine justices unanimously agreed that the lower courts were proper to block the central changes related to gender identity at this preliminary stage of the challenges.

Weingarten notes that the left is eagerly courting the fraudulent noncitizen vote:
Republicans highlight a recent study estimating that 10% to 27% of noncitizens are illegally registered to vote, and 5% to 13% will illegally vote in 2024 -- a potentially massive number given the illegal alien portion of the noncitizen population alone numbers well over 10 million. Election integrity advocates argue that states have not found many incidents of noncitizen voting for the simple reason that authorities, including the Department of Justice, do not look for it. "DOJ investigations of illegal voting are all but nonexistent," Sen. Mike Lee, a Utah Republican, said in a recent floor debate concerning the SAVE (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility) Act, a bill Lee and House colleague Chip Roy (R-Texas) introduced to combat noncitizen voting. After the House passed the measure in July, Democrats blocked the legislation in the upper chamber, where it remains stalled. "[T]oo many prosecutors refuse to enforce the law even when such illegal behavior is discovered by election officials or others," Hans von Spakovsky, a former Department of Justice official who now works at the conservative Heritage Foundation, told Congress in May.
Should election officials fail to prevent noncitizens from casting ballots on the front end, J. Christian Adams, a fellow former DOJ official and president of the Public Interest Legal Foundation, told RCI, there is "almost nothing" the public or political parties can do on the back end to identify, challenge, and invalidate noncitizen votes prior to election certification. Adams' group has documented myriad electoral races decided by one vote or tied over the last two decades -- something he and others argue indicates just how critical it is to combat illegal voting, given the potential impact to tight races up and down ballots. States generally seem unfazed by the prospect of noncitizen voting... Most state officials who responded to RCI's query emphasized that there are laws on the books permitting third-party challenges to voter eligibility. But this is a measure requiring time, money, and effort. The two former Justice Department officials -- Spakovsky and Adams -- recently took issue with the view that state audits and scrubs of voter rolls ought to inspire confidence, writing in the Daily Signal:Whatever the extent of noncitizen registration and voting today, Election Integrity Network leader Cleta Mitchell says conditions are building for a "perfect storm." Two factors are about to produce it: "the invasion of our country by millions of illegals" and a series of largely Democratic Party-driven efforts to ease voter registration and participation. Mitchell and others, including the Heritage Foundation's Oversight Project, have suggested that significant numbers of noncitizens could wind up on the voting roles under Biden administration Executive Order 14019, which directs every federal agency to register and mobilize voters. Officials in Alabama and Mississippi say that under the executive order, which RCI has previously examined, authorities are already attempting to register noncitizens to vote. The Biden administration initiative calls on federal agencies to coordinate with third-party groups in pursuit of its objectives as well. Adams, testifying alongside Spakovsky for the Republican majority before the House Administration Committee in May, said that "most often noncitizens are getting on the rolls through the motor voter registration process or third-party registration drives." Regarding motor-voter registration, the Only Citizens Vote Coalition warns that "many states are now automatically registering people to vote at the time of coming into contact with the DMV unless the person 'opts out' of registration." Advocates are also concerned that practices like same-day voter registration and allowing the use of student IDs to vote -- IDs that can be issued to foreigners -- could lead to noncitizens ending up on voter rolls and potentially voting.
Because almost no state even attempts to verify that individuals registering to vote are U.S. citizens -- and because the federal government, including both the courts and the executive branch, have put up significant barriers to such verification -- we don't really know how many aliens, whether here legally or illegally, are registering and voting.
Gee I wonder which party the illegals will be voting for. I guess it's a mystery which can never be solved.
"Immigrants pay taxes, they use city services, their kids go to our public schools. They are part of our community. And they deserve a say in local government," New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson said in defending a bill that has been ruled unconstitutional that would have allowed an estimated 800,000 noncitizens to vote in local elections. The Trump-Vance campaign, by contrast, has called for mass deportation of the illegal alien population to which Democrats increasingly wish to extend rights and benefits, among other immigration measures the Republicans say aim to protect and support Americans. In contrast to the growing coterie of blue-state jurisdictions embracing noncitizen voting, red states are increasingly passing amendments prohibiting local governments from allowing noncitizens to vote, with Louisiana and Ohio most approving such constitutional changes in 2022. Eight more states have citizenship-related ballot measures in the 2024 election.

This is real, of course:

My son was struggling -- then he fell for Trump's toxic brand of 'masculinity'. I'm heartbrokenI know you are probably thinking this is David French. I checked, it's not.
Maybe he's not your son.
A progressive father on how Maga drove a wedge between him and his son -- and how he's trying to salvage their relationship
Sam Delaune, as told to Alaina Demopoulos
I didn't get a call from my son on Father's Day this year.
Our political disagreements have made things hard. I'm a 59-year-old progressive and a special education teacher, and I'm voting for Kamala Harris in November. Nick* is 21He uses a pseudonym for his son. But he uses his own real name in the article. In other words, he's telling everyone that his son is a racist monster.
... and he would say that he holds traditional, conservative values -- but he's conflating those values with radical Maga ideas, which correlate the right with patriotism, manhood, intelligence, independence and honesty. I understand where my son's vulnerabilities came from, and why this rightwing posturing was able to seep into him. I understand it, but I still regret it. Nick's mom and I wanted to teach our son that democracy is an active sport. You don't just sit back and watch. We lived in Houston, in the belly of the petrochemical beast, and I remember going to a demonstration against Halliburton, the Iraq war, and Dick Cheney's role in the company. Groups brought puppets -- it was almost like street theater -- and we rolled Nick along in his stroller. That was the community we were plugged into: artists, musicians, teachers, writers. That's how Nick came up.The first Male Cat Lady.
Nick was a sweet kid. He was really quiet. He's on the upper end of the autism spectrum, so he can have difficulty interpreting social cues. All he wanted to do was follow whatever the big kids were doing. Now he just told the world that his son, who can pass as non-autistic, is autistic.
... Some of the older guys at school who Nick was trying to emulate were really into building computers, hacking and the dark web. This is a Lifetime movie pitch, right?
... We had moved to the Bay Area in 2017, after Trump won the election. Nick was 15 or 16 when he said that he liked Trump. I can understand how Trump appealed to a childish sensibility: he's this clownish figure who does whatever he wants. I also know that when you come of age, you want to reject your parents' beliefs. My father was a Reagan Republican who was really old school, values wise. A lot of my political development was a rejection of his values, so I wonder now how much of Nick's fascination with Maga is a reaction against the way I brought him up. I've never been a macho kind of man.You don't say:

You don't say.
To me, our biggest responsibility as humans is to look after each other. Men have been given places of privilege in society, so when people talk about being a man, to me that means: what do you use your privilege for? ... But I think that Trump appeals to a perceived loss of masculine power: by his logic, because we're treating LGBTQ+ people like humans, some men feel a loss over that, as their outrageous privilege has diminished somewhat, at least on surface level. Nick was vulnerable to that because he was becoming a man. I think he also naively thought, well, Trump's a powerful person running for president; he can't just get up there and spew bullshit. ... My wife and I divorced in 2020...
...and Nick lived with me for six months in California after that, but he later went back to live with her in Houston, so I saw and heard less from him. I no longer have the same influence over him. I can't be there to talk about the human cost of Trump's policies, which might change his mind. Nick started hanging out with guys in Houston who shared his beliefs or had even more radical ones. They started talking about what makes a man. They said men have to be strong, so Nick bought a bike and rides it around every day. That's a healthy habit. But they also say things like "men smoke", so now he does that too. They introduced Nick to guns and started taking him to the shooting range. On his 21st birthday, his mother and I sent him money, thinking he'd spend it on a computer or something, but he went out and bought a gun. He didn't tell either of us, because he knows how we feel about them.I'm glad "Nick" left this sadsack failure and found a real man to be his New Father. Sorry, there was a lot more to this post, but it somehow got deleted.

Hillary Clinton has repeatedly lied to turn her absolutely-fraudulent campaign oppo research into a criminal investigation into Trump, claiming he was a Russian agent.
She began by denying that she had hired FusionGPS at all, and claimed that FusionGPS was just doing this "journalism" on its own. Of course, she hired FusionGPS, and she falsified her FEC filings to hide her payments to FusionGPS. She had her lawyers hire FusionGPS, and falsely claimed in filings that the payments were for "legal services." She was never prosecuted for this although Trump is being prosecuted for something less serious than that in New York. She and her media simps also claimed that FusionGPS' absurd "Steele Dossier" was "funded by Republicans." That's a lie. Some "Republicans" -- including, of course, Bill Kristol -- hired FusionGPS to dig up dirt about Trump and Ted Cruz, but they didn't know about or fund the Steele dossier bullshit. That was purely funded by Hillary for President, Inc. Then her "computer scientists" created, out of whole cloth, the claim that the Russian Alfa Bank's computers were talking to the computers at Trump Tower. She had her lawyer, Michael Sussman, bring this nonsensical theory about a "secret channel" between Alfa Bank's computers and Trump's computers to the FBI, with Sussman lying about why he was doing so. He denied having Hillary Clinton as a client. He was prosecuted for that lie, but of course a partisan DC jury let him off the hook. The Hillary Clinton campaign also hid its responsibility for claiming that the DNC hack was done by Russians in cahoots with RUSSIA. They have claimed that the company Crowdstrike made this claim, but a new report from Racket News finds that "researchers" hired by Hillary Clinton were once again behind the disinformation and weaponization of government against Trump.Racket News points out that if the US government ever had any intention of actually prosecuting these alleged RUSSIAN HACKERS, it would have to keep all relevant information because the Brady rule requires prosecutors to turn over information relevant to a defendant's defense to him. Instead, they wiped all of their phones -- as if they never had any intention to prosecute these "Russian Hackers," and only wanted to hide their connections to the Clinton campaign.
For over eight years, the world has been told that the United States government relied on a private firm called Crowdstrike to investigate the hack of the Democratic National Committee. Both former FBI Director James Comey and Special Counsel Robert Mueller referred to Crowdstrike as a primary source that Russian "conspirators hacked the DNC." That narrative was troubling enough and the subject of questions at Congressional hearings. Attempts by members of the public to obtain Crowdstrike's analysis through FOIA have been shot down time and again owing to corporate "trade secrets" involved, and with Special Counsel Mueller's July 2018 indictment of those 12 Russians who are unlikely to ever be apprehended, key facts about their investigation were set to be sealed for decades. New emails obtained by Racket through the Freedom of Information Act, however, suggest there is more to the story. Cyber researchers at Georgia Tech who were indirectly working with the Clinton campaign and Fusion GPS to produce the Alfa Bank claims, also appear to have influenced Special Counsel Mueller's investigation of the DNC hack. ...
There are strong indications that the same cyber researchers who were working with the Clinton campaign went on to work with the Special Counsel Robert Mueller team on the DNC hack investigation and the indictment of Russians. There's no doubt the government understood the connection to Clinton attorney Michael Sussmann, Sussmann was the one who had delivered the Alfa Bank allegations on thumb drives that the Clinton campaign paid for. At the trial of Michael Sussmann, we learned that the FBI had received information from confidential human sources by early October 2016 who alleged that David Dagon was the author of the technical white paper making the claims regarding a secret communications channel between Trump and Russia via Alfa Bank, which the FBI was well on its way to debunking. We also learned that the requests of FBI field agents involved in that investigation to interview David Dagon were denied by the FBI's leadership. Somehow, these same cyber researchers that had already provided their August 7, 2016 attribution analysis on the DNC hack, in addition to anonymously submitting the Alfa Bank claims through Sussmann, along with later submitting nonsensical Yota Phone allegations, went on to provide materials to Special Counsel Mueller on the DNC hack without raising any eyebrows. The Mueller team went on to wipe dozens of phones, leaving now obvious questions of whether it was to conceal their contacts with the Clinton-connected cyber researchers. Whether intentional or not, the fact remains that none of the investigations since 2016 have revealed the role of the cyber researchers in the DNC hack investigation.
It's nearly impossible to see how the government could meet its Brady obligations for a theoretical trial of the Russians. Presumably, all of the cyber researchers' work on the Alfa Bank allegations would be considered Brady material, going to the credibility of these cyber researchers as witnesses. At least some of that material has not been made available to the government or was destroyed. And why would the government use these cyber researchers in one of the biggest and most important investigations in history, an investigation the media repeatedly assured us was being run above-board? With unlimited resources at its disposal, it appears the government instead allowed cyber researchers with controversial histories and political connections to influence their investigation.

As with any story about George Soros, I have to offer an Anti-Semitism Warning because the non-Jewish atheist George Soros instructs all the media operations he controls to smear any critic of him as an antisemite. By reading this, you are officially antisemtitic.
According to George Soros and the many vile operators on his payroll. Luke Rosiak at the Daily Wire reports that Soros remains in contact with Soros prosecutors after the elections, and "controls" them throughout their terms.Documents Reveal How George Soros Controls ProsecutorsRead the whole thing. But do be aware, you're committing an antisemitism by reading about a deranged Nazi-collaborator Marxist intent on subverting our system of laws and even democracy itself.
The Soros network 'remains in the driver seat' after getting prosecutors elected, according to the Media Research Center George Soros and his son, Alex, have spent at least $117 million since 2016 to reshape America's justice system. They've been successful: three in 10 Americans now live under a Soros prosecutor. But the Soroses' influence doesn't end on Election Day. After Soros-backed prosecutors take office, the family's apparatus tells them what to do, documents show. The Media Research Center obtained nearly 8,000 pages of internal documents through public records laws that show how a Soros-funded group called Fair and Just Prosecution (FJP) "directed Soros prosecutors to manipulate the rule of law concerning illegal immigration, drugs, abortion, election integrity, capital punishment and laws against childhood sex changes." MRC's yearlong investigation suggests that Soros maintained influence over his chosen candidates after their elections were over. FJP had the Soros-backed attorneys sign 33 pledges to not enforce certain laws -- including election integrity measures and immigration laws -- and attend more than 50 meetings or "convenings," some of which were "mandatory." FJP pressed prosecutors to let criminals off the hook if they are black, having them pledge to "reduc[e] racial disparities in case outcomes by at least 20%." FJP's influence can be seen on some of the most high-profile Soros prosecutors. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg sought to indict former President Donald Trump for his role in the January 6 protests after the group said it wanted to hold Trump "accountable." Since-ousted San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin was in contact with FJP on a daily basis. On 20 occasions, FJP sent prosecutors "templates" of press releases they should send out, as well as social media posts to "adapt."
"Being a Soros prosecutor means extensive, free access to expert political consulting firms, complete with detailed polling and field-tested messaging strategies," the MRC's report found. "FJP remains in the driver seat, though, even going so far as to social media posts for its prosecutors so they can better coordinate their messaging." At the meetings, Soros prosecutors got talking points and marching orders. At one meeting, political consultants told the assembled prosecutors to frame ignoring property crime as "reprioritizing resources" to "solve more murders." The consultants cited polling that showed this messaging was more popular than simply acknowledging that prosecutors were not prosecuting lesser crime. The Soros operation also pushed prosecutors to use mental or physical health specialists instead of police by sharing polling that showed that the idea was popular. Soros has poured the kind of money normally reserved for statewide campaigns low-profile local prosecutor races. The Hungarian billionaire generally targets primary elections in blue areas, funding radical progressives in their races against more moderate Democrats. Once in office, these "progressive prosecutors" often decline to enforce laws they find objectionable.

Plus: Kamala's "Light on Details" Speech on Her Economic "Ideas"
The Race Supremacists are constantly making demands that everyone address them according to a complex and e'er-changing system of Racial Protocols that rivals that afforded kings.
You know what I mean by protocol? It's a formal system prescribing how kings, ambassadors, etc., are to be addressed in formal situations. We know have a Racial Protocol system in place dictating how disfavored races are demanded to behave with respect to favored races. Videos below. Speaking of favored potentates: Biden has just diverted some of the Secret Service's extremely overtaxed and incompetent personnel to protecting former Secret Service Director and s Diversity Incompetent Kim Cheatle.Susan Crabtree
@susancrabtree EXCLUSIVE and BREAKING: Biden ordered Secret Service Protection for Former Agency Chief The Secret Service is providing Kimberly Cheatle, its former director who resigned last month, a security detail in an unprecedented effort to protect a former agency chief amid lingering national anger about the myriad security lapses under her watch. Those failures led to the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump and the killing of firefighter Corey Comperatore, according to three sources in the Secret Service community. Cheatle has faced an ongoing firestorm of fury from American citizens, and even rank-and-file Secret Service special agents and officers, over the agency's failures that created an opening for shooter Thomas Crooks to open fire on Trump, piercing his ear and killing Comperatore in front of his family and wounding two other rally-goers. President Biden ordered the taxpayer-funded protection for Cheatle, these sources say, because she was facing numerous threats, especially on social media from individuals angered by the agency's failures on July 13 and her lack of transparency during her testimony to the House Oversight Committee July 22. She resigned the next day. Threatening indivduals have also approached her, knowledgable sources tell RCP.
