Halloween Movie Thread

I know I just did one of these.

I saw House, from 1985 (or 1986 -- it was out in limited release December 1985, then full nationwide release February 1986), on Amazon Prime. With William "Greatest American Hero" Katt, George "Norm" Wendt, and Bull from "Night Court."

I kind of loved it.

It starts out as a sort of grounded, low-key, more serious movie. William Katt is a Vietnam vet troubled by nightmares about his time in the jungle. This is exacerbated by the fact he's chosen to right a memoir about his time in 'Nam, so he's dealing with those memories more than he ever has before.

Don't worry, he's not the Hollywood stereotype "crazy vet" or dysfunctional. He's a successful author and has his act together. He just has nightmares and bad memories.

What is making him a little crazy is that his young son disappeared without a trace when he was visiting his aunt's house under strange -- supernatural? -- circumstances.

After his aunt's death, he moves into the house to write his book. And he starts seeing things.

Final NYT Poll: Tied Nationally.
Final CNN Poll: Tied Nationally.

A national tie is good for Republicans, usually, but a Democrat on Twitter claimed the 2012 final polls put Obama and Romney at a tie, and Obama on the national vote by 3.7% (or something like that).

So this is no time for complacency or false confidence. It's close enough that yes, your vote matters.

CNN:

InteractivePolls
@IAPolls2022

FINAL NATIONAL POLL: CNN/SSRS

Trump: 47%
Harris: 47%
Stein: 1%
Other: 2%

Last poll (9/22) - Harris +1

----

Generic Ballot
GOP: 48%
DEM: 45%

The Hill reports on the Times/Siena poll:

Harris sees troubling signs in latest New York Times/Siena poll

The final national poll before Election Day from The New York Times and Siena College has some troubling signs for Vice President Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee.

The poll finds Harris deadlocked with former President Trump, the GOP nominee, after she led him in an earlier version of the poll taken in October by 3 percentage points.

The new poll is sparking talk that Harris could actually lose the popular vote to Trump.

...

Much of the talk surrounding the 2024 race has been about the chances of Harris winning the popular vote but losing the Electoral College to Trump, given the tightness of polling in seven key swing states.

But the New York Times poll suggests Harris is not building up the type of huge lead in the popular vote that might suggest she would also win the closely fought swing states.

...

In another bad sign for Harris, just 28 percent of respondents said the U.S. as a country was headed in the right direction. Given that Harris is the incumbent vice president and such numbers are difficult for a sitting administration to overcome, that is a tough number for her.

Actually, Trump's ahead of Harris in this poll when you look at the question about the real ballot, the ballot with five different candidates, not just head-to-head:

In a national poll from NY Times/Sienna released Friday, Donald Trump has surged to a one-point lead over Kamala Harris, 47 to 46 percent.

A little over two weeks ago, this same pollster showed the former president losing to Harris by three points, 44 to 47 percent.

That represents a four-point swing in one of the most trusted polls out there.

That particular result is when third-party candidates are included in the survey.

In a head-to-head race with no third-party candidates, this same poll shows the national race tied, 48 to 48 percent.

Trump's edge on the economy has supposedly shrunk to just 6 points, but I imagine that's due to Democrats just deciding that Aksually the economy must be good if I'm voting for these assholes again, after years of admitting the economy is terrible.

Still, not great.

One interesting point from Effeminate Thumb Chris Cillizza is the erosion of the Democrats' youth advantage.

Chris Cillizza
@ChrisCillizza

Broke down the 5 #'s from the NYT/Siena poll that jumped out to me.

One BIG one:

Harris is +12 among 18-29 year olds.

Biden won that age cohort by 24. Hillary won them by 19.

Trouble.

Don't get too excited: Biden is, of course, rigging the election by forcing Virginia (which is now in play) to put non-citizens who admitted they are non-citizens back on the election rolls so they can vote for Democrats:

Jason Miyares
@JasonMiyaresVA

Attorney General Miyares Releases Statement on Court Ruling Regarding Non-Citizens On Voter Rolls

It should never be illegal to remove an illegal voter. Yet, today a Court -- urged by the Biden-Harris Department of Justice -- ordered Virginia to put the names of non-citizens back on the voter rolls, mere days before a presidential election. The Department of Justice pulled this shameful, politically motivated stunt 25 days before Election Day, challenging a Virginia process signed into law 18 years ago by a Democrat governor and approved by the Department of Justice in 2006.

More concerning is the open practice by the Biden-Harris administration to weaponize the legal system against the enemies of so-called progress. That is the definition of lawfare. To openly choose weaponization over good process and lawfare over integrity isn't democracy: it's bullying, pure and simple, and I always stand up to bullies.

In the meantime, I encourage every Virginian to exercise their right to vote. Rest assured, I will never stop fighting to preserve the integrity of our election process.

The Commonwealth of Virginia will appeal this decision -- all the way to the Supreme Court, if necessary.

Confirmed: Washington Post Will Not Endorse Kamala; Leftwing Activists Pretending to be Journalists Cope and Seethe

Nice.

As John Ekdahl commented, absolutely zero people would be persuaded by the endorsement of this amateurish Animal House of gonzo communist propanda. The paper has lost most of its audience and has to keep laying people off to not lose even more money.

What's nice here isn't that we avoid the all-important Washington Post obligatory endorsement of a communist candidate. That means nothing.

What's nice is that low-IQ, low-impulse-control retards are shitting themselves in fury over this betrayal.

Even though the presidential race between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris remains neck and neck, The Washington Post editorial page has decided not to make a presidential endorsement for the first time in 36 years, the editorial page editor told colleagues at a tense meeting Friday morning.

The meeting was characterized by someone with direct knowledge of discussions on condition of anonymity to speak about internal matters.

The editorial page editor, David Shipley, told colleagues that the Post's publisher, Will Lewis, would publish a note to readers online early Friday afternoon.

Shipley told colleagues the editorial board was told yesterday by management that there would not be an endorsement. He added that he "owns" this decision. The reason he cited was to create "independent space" where the newspaper does not tell people for whom to vote.

Colleagues were said to be "shocked" and uniformly negative. Post corporate spokespeople have not responded to multiple messages left by NPR on the subject.

A similar decision by Los Angeles Times owner Patrick Soon-Shiong led this week to the resignations of the paper's editorials editor and two editorial board members.

...

Post owner Jeff Bezos, the Amazon founder and one of the world's richest people, has major contracts before the federal government in his other business operations.

Mark Hemingway had this funny catch: Jen Rubin demanded that more LA Times staffers resign when the Times refused to endorse Kamala.

So does that mean this talentless bitch who has no job except for blogging for the Post will resign now?

Or nah?

Nah, right?

Biden-Harris Implements "Quiet Amnesty" to Keep Illegals In America Forever; Aide to Sherod Brown Says "Throw the Borders F***in' Open, Let Them All In!"

Kamala Harris is going to be so tough on the border you guys.

Biden-Harris admin engages in 'quiet amnesty' to allow illegal border crossers to remain in US indefinitely: House Judiciary

"Instead of adjudicating these cases, denying invalid asylum claims, and ordering aliens removed from the United States, the Biden-Harris Administration has directed its immigration judges to simply not adjudicate them," the report stated.

The House Judiciary Committee on Thursday released an interim staff report on how the Biden-Harris administration "uses the nation's immigration courts to advance an open-borders agenda" through a massive backlog in the immigration courts and the dismissal of cases.

The committee wrote that since Biden took office, there have been more than 3.7 million new immigration court cases since the beginning of fiscal year 2021, which began in October of 2020. "The majority of those cases are based on claims that ultimately will prove unsuccessful," the report stated, noting that of the adjudicated cases in fiscal year 2023, just 14 percent of them resulted in an asylum grant. The remaining cases were "cases denied, abandoned, dismissed, terminated, withdrawn, or administratively closed."

"The Biden-Harris Administration has used the immigration court backlog as an excuse to allow even more aliens to remain in the country. Instead of actually adjudicating illegal aliens' cases based on the merits of aliens' claims for relief--such as whether an alien has a valid and successful asylum claim--immigration judges under the Biden-Harris Administration have been tasked with rubberstamping case dismissals, case closures, and case terminations, all of which allow illegal aliens to remain in the United States without immigration consequences," the report stated.

Through oversight conducted by the Judiciary Committee and its Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement since 2023, it has been revealed that the administration "has used administrative maneuvering in immigration court proceedings to allow nearly 1 million illegal aliens to remain in the US indefinitely."

To "mask" the increase in new cases created by the Biden-Harris admin's border crisis, the administration "has empowered ICE attorneys to pursue or agree to--and immigration judges to grant--mass dismissals, terminations, and closures of immigration cases."

Meanwhile, Harris-Biden allowed in thousand of Tren de Aragua gangsters, who were openly wearing tattoos showing their allegiance to the violent prison gang.

Harris-Biden's excuse? We didn't ask about the tattoos. Don't ask, don't tell.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has come under fire after immigration officers approved refugee applications for members of the violent Venezuelan gang, Tren de Aragua (TDA), without noticing gang tattoos. According to The Washington Times, the gang members were flagged at the U.S. border by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers, but not before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) had already granted them refugee status.

Kevin Grigsby, head of refugee operations at USCIS, admitted the oversight in a scathing internal email obtained by The Times. Grigsby acknowledged that officers failed to ask about or recognize the significance of the gang-related tattoos during the refugee adjudication process. "Unfortunately, we did not ask about the tattoos... [which] represents a serious public safety concern," he wrote.

Whoops!

Whoopsie!

Speaking of Tren de Aragua: Emails from the Aurora city council now reveal they knew about Tren de Aragua's invasion of the city since last year and covered it up.

"Open the f***ing borders!" screams Sherrod Brown's aide.

While vulnerable Democratic incumbent Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio has been gaslighting the American people about the border crisis, hiding behind a particularly bad border bill, one of his campaign operatives has made it abundantly clear that he's no fan of border security.

According to Ohio.news, Kevin Oyakawa is a Democratic staffer working to help get Brown and Rep. Emilia Sykes (OH-13), another vulnerable Democrat, reelected. Oyakawa made such a post from his Facebook account about those races on April 15, for which there is a screenshot. There's also a screenshot from Oyakawa's account of an October 6 campaign event for Sykes.

The outlet released footage from earlier this month in which Oyakawa goes on an angry tirade not just about the border, but against Ohio voters who dare to prefer that their border be secure. Oyakawa can be heard using explicit language throughout.

"Like me, I'm out there just like, open the fu**king border, I don't give a s**t who the f**k comes in here," Oyakawa can be heard casually sharing. "We don't need border patrol," he also claimed. "But, the issue with even talking about immigration here in Ohio is that it's a losing issue... it's a losing issue for Democrats here," Oyakawa went on to admit. Such an admission brought more insults to the Ohio voters, though, as he then claimed it's "for like no fu**ing reason other than people's pure racism."

When it comes to immigration being such "a losing issue," Oyakawa also revealed "that's why it's probably really hard to find anything about like where [Sykes] stands on it," adding, "if she has to address immigration, she starts losing."

The video clip also refers to Oyakawa as a "Regional Organizing Director" for Ohio Democrats. Such a position and the April starting date also lines up with his LinkedIn profile.

Both Sykes' race against Republican Kevin Coughlin and Brown's race against Republican Bernie Moreno are in the "Toss-Up" category.

Kamala Harris Claims She's an Intellectual and a "Nerd" Who Really Studies Up on Policy Questions, Which Is Why She Can't Actually Answer Questions. She Needs to Go Home and Study First So That She's "Well-Versed."

So this is from the CNN advertising opportunity. I'm bothering you with it now because one of those Sexist Black Males who isn't voting for Kamala posted a reaction to her claims, which I think is pretty funny.

For background, here was Kamala, who literally cannot answer a single question, explaining that she's just so detail-oriented and policy-focused that she feels uncomfortable answering questions without doing a deep-dive on the question first.

Addendum: Doctor delays federally funded puberty blockers report for political reasons

An influential American physician has admitted to delaying, for nine years, the publication of a taxpayer-funded study on the mental health effects of puberty blockers in youth with gender dysphoria for fear that the results could be used to support prohibitions of so-called “gender-affirming care” for minors.

These people are child abusers and need to be hounded out of our culture. [CBD]

Daily Tech News 25 October 2024

Top Story

  • Intel's Arrow Lake desktop CPUs - effectively the 15th generation Core chips though they don't call them that - are finally here. Are they good? Should you buy one? No. (Tom's Hardware)

They do post very good results in a couple of AI benchmarks, and generally solid results in multi-threaded productivity tasks, but on games they average 5% slower than the previous (and cheaper) generation, and are even further behind AMD's previous generation gaming-oriented chips like the 7800X3D.

In fact, for games they are often behind the two-generation-old 5800X3D, sometimes behind the budget-oriented 5700X3D, running roughly even with Intel's three-generation-old 12600K. But costing four times as much.

And while these new chips do use significantly less power than the 14900K blast furnace, they still use significantly more power than AMD's offerings.

Intel managed to one-up AMD's Zen 5, which has been nicknamed Zen 5% for its mediocre performance gains on consumer applications, by actually going backwards.

To complicate matters further, new BIOS features to improve performance that should be on by default, aren't, and when they are turned on manually they sometimes make things worse.

The same goes for Windows, with the latest 24H2 update causing some games to run noticeably slower on Arrow Lake, when the same release improves performance on AMD's Zen 4 and Zen 5 chips.

    It's a mess.

  • And AMD's 9800X3D is due out in two weeks. (WCCFTech)

That looks like the way to go for people who play a lot of recent computer games... Whoever they are, given how poorly received recent titles have been.

If you just need something that works for everyday tasks, something like the 8700G or even the previous generation's 5600GT should do the job nicely.

The Media Ignores the Woman Slapped in the Face by "Slugger Doug" Emhoff as They Babble About a Claim Made by an Obama Partisan About a Made-Up Non-Incident Which Did Not Take Place 31 Years Ago

worstgentleman.jpg

Before that: even the chief of staff for the liberal anti-Trumper Mike Pence says that John Kelly is straight-up lying.

Former Vice President Mike Pence's chief of staff has rejected statements made by General John Kelly, who claims that President Donald J. Trump had previously praised Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler and admires fascism. Nick Ayers took to X to refute Kelly, saying, "I've avoided commenting on intra-staff leaks or rumors or even lies as it relates to my time at the White House, but General Kelly's comments regarding President Trump are too egregious to ignore. I was with each of them more than most, and his commentary is *patently false.*"

Now on to Slugger Doug.

Now we finally hear from Doug Emhoff's old girlfriend, the one this New Model Soviet Man slapped in the face so hard it spun her around, all for flirting with a real man.

You know -- real "Wife Guy "stuff.

Previously, her friends, including a man she called immediately after the punch, came forward, while she kept quiet.

Now she's telling her tale:

Kamala Harris' husband Doug Emhoff slapped me in the face so hard I spun around ... I'm disgusted by his fake 'perfect spouse' persona

By Josh Boswell For Dailymail.com

Doug Emhoff's ex-girlfriend has spoken exclusively to DailyMail.com claiming that he slapped her in the face so hard she spun around at a 2012 celebrity event in France.

The woman, a successful New York attorney, is remaining anonymous, but decided to speak out after Emhoff, Kamala Harris's husband, denied the claims through a spokesman.

Emhoff's accuser, who DailyMail.com is naming only as 'Jane', initially declined to comment on the record. But Emhoff's denial, and his alleged hypocrisy by claiming to be a feminist in media interviews, finally became too much for her.

What's frightening for a woman that's been on the other end of it, is watching this completely fabricated persona being portrayed,' Jane said.

'He's being held out to be the antithesis of who he actually is. And that is utterly shocking.'

DailyMail.com broke the story about the alleged unprovoked attack on October 2, by reporting accounts from two friends she told immediately after the incident, a third she told in 2018, and documents evidencing her relationship and trip to France with Emhoff.

The bombshell allegations, which followed DailyMail.com's revelation in August that Emhoff cheated on his first wife with his daughter's nanny Najen Naylor, received little or no coverage from politically center-left major news outlets.

Emhoff admitted the affair in a statement in August but his spokesman gave only a short denial of the alleged violence to a politics news site a day after we exclusively reported the slap allegation.

...

[T]e second gentleman has since continued to brag about his long-held feminist values in softball media interviews arranged by the Harris presidential campaign.

'Every time I see Doug on TV portraying the persona of a perfect spouse and non-toxic man, I wonder if Najen is watching too and feeling as disgusted as I am,' Jane said.

Last week, 'Jane' recounted her story to DailyMail.com -- including that Emhoff 'slapped me so hard I spun around,' and that Emhoff told her he was accused by his mistress of causing her to miscarry their baby.

!!!

So he induced a miscarriage in the nanny he knocked up?

Emhoff and Jane got together in 2012 before he met Harris, who he married in 2014.

'I was living in New York, and Doug was living in Los Angeles,' Jane said. 'I met him on Match.com.

'After work one night I met him for drinks at a hotel near Times Square.'

She said Emhoff's odd behavior began immediately, when he invited his son Cole to join them about an hour into their first date in March 2012.

...

'He flew me to Los Angeles in April [2012]. I stayed in his home for a week. The entire time, he was alluding to marriage and having children with me,' she told DailyMail.com.

'He was totally love-bombing me. He grabbed me round the stomach and talked about wanting more babies.'

Jane said that less than a month into her relationship she got a lucrative job opportunity in the UK, and Emhoff gave her the impression he was willing to leave his family behind.

'He was really pushing me to pursue it, and he seemed like he was willing to come with me to London,' she said. 'He was ready to uproot, even though he had a family, and he had a child still in junior high school.'

...

'We were in Santa Monica. He was driving his fancy car. And so I just straight out asked him: 'I feel like you're on the back foot in the divorce, like you're trying to make up for something?' she said.

'All I did was ask him one question, and he told me the whole story. Without skipping a beat, and staring straight ahead at the road, he tells me he had an affair with his daughter's teacher and that subsequently she claimed that she was pregnant. He's telling me this very casually like it's no big deal.

'He yelled at her. He never said he hit her, but he said he got really angry with her, and she subsequently claimed that whatever he did caused her to lose the pregnancy.

'He said she got a lawyer and was threatening litigation. I was flabbergasted. And I was taken aback by how matter of fact he could talk about it.

'He tried to minimize it. He said there was no proof that the woman had become pregnant. He tried to make it seem like she was scamming him.

'To be honest, I wanted to believe him at the time, because by all appearances this was turning into a serious relationship.

...

Jane added that Emhoff told her he settled with Naylor for about $80,000, and had her sign an NDA.

Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) records obtained by DailyMail.com under the California Public Records Act show that police were called to a house where Naylor was living around the time she was allegedly pregnant, at 8:14pm on June 28, 2009.

The callout was given priority level three, which is a 'life threatening emergency, lights and sirens on'.

Wow.

Here's the part about the slap, which seems almost minor by comparison:

But she said it turned into a nightmare at around 3am when they joined a long and chaotic line for a taxi outside the Hotel du Cap event venue in Antibes to return to their lodgings in a neighboring town.

'I decided I'm going to go up to the valet and give them 100 bucks, to get out of this line,' Jane said.

'I put my hand on the valet's shoulder and tell him, with my $100, could you please get me a car as soon as possible.

'As I'm talking to him, Doug got out of the line, comes up, turns me around by my right shoulder. I'm completely caught off guard, I'm not bracing, I'm in four inch heels, wearing a full-length gown and it's between 2-3am.

'He slaps me so hard I spin around, and I'm in utter shock.

'There had been no fight, no argument. It had been a completely fantastic event. I am so furious. The only thing I could think to do was slap him back. I slapped him on one side, and on the other cheek with the other hand.

'In that moment, his mask had dropped and I saw his dark side,' she added.

'All of a sudden the car is there, the valet is ushering me in.

'I intended to go back to the hotel without him. So I was shutting the car door, but he forced his way into the car, which I did not want.

'It's dark. I don't speak French, my friends we're with are off having an amazing time. I'm embarrassed and humiliated that, this amazing experience turned into this violent spectacle.

'I can't believe he just slapped me. I think I said to him in the car, 'What the hell is wrong with you? Why did you do that?' And the only thing I could get out of him was he thought I was hitting on the valet.'

Now that's what I call a real Male Feminist.

Megyn Kelly
@megynkelly

She's actually touting her record going after domestic abusers as her husband stands accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend and she won't even comment on it.

NBC Poll: Trump Leads Nationally 48-46%; Leads the Battleground States 48-47%; Now Has Higher Favorability Ratings Than Harris

Trump's net favorability isn't great, but it's better than he's ever had: He's at -6, net, favorable minus unfavorable. 42% favorable, 48% unfavorable.

But Harris is at -10. She's at only 39% favorable, 49% unfavorable.

That said: A guy on Twitter was being a real rag. He was complaining about Republicans showing irrational exuberance, which will lead to Republicans thinking they've got it in the bag and not doing much of anything to help get out the vote. Or even vote themselves.

We did our endzone dancing before we actually put the ball in the endzone in 2022. Good thing we got our endzone dancing in early, because we never scored.

He makes a good point and I hope everyone realizes that if this is even close, they will steal it. They will only not steal it if Trump's victory is so clear that it would require cheating on such a level that it could not be disguised. The Democrat vote-counters in Atlanta will only not discover thousands and thousands of new votes at 4am if they know that the cheating will be obvious and that they will face state police raids and prosecutions if they dare it.

So take this not a good news but merely animating news. If you're discouraged, don't be. Your vote will count, even if it's only to pad the margin in a state Trump wins. Trump just pulled ahead in Miami-Dade in the early vote (assuming Republicans vote for Trump and Democrats vote for Harris). Yes, Miami, a liberal blue city.

If you're a Republican in safe Florida, it is still imperative to vote, to canvass, to knock on doors, to join call centers, to volunteer to bring voters to the polls because a huge, say, 18 point victory will make it extremely suspicious if Georgia "goes for Harris" only because more Democrat voters were counted in Fulton County than the actual number of voters living in Fulton County.

If you're a Republican in New Mexico, do not assume the state is going to the Democrats and sit on your ass. There's a "shock" poll -- though I'm not all that shock -- that New Mexico is now gettable for Trump.

It's difficult to believe the former President Donald Trump can win New Mexico, but a newly released poll by KA Consulting claims the Republican ticket is only down three percentage points against Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris.

KA Consulting's metrics claim a much closer race than the symphony of major pollsters, all of whom have Harris comfortably carrying the Southwestern state. KA Consulting polled 612 likely voters between October 16 and 18 and cited a recent NBC poll that found Trump's position strengthening among Hispanics as evidence that Trump can pull off a shocking upset in the Sun Belt. Nearly half of the state's population identifies as Hispanic, and the politics of a border state cannot be discounted during an election cycle where illegal immigration has dominated policy discussions.

Bear in mind that Kamala Harris's only has a couple of paths to victory, by which I mean, states she could conceivably win to get her to just slightly above 269 electoral votes. If she loses a "safe" state like New Mexico, she has no chance. None.

If she loses New Mexico, she has to make that up by flipping a solid Trump state like, say, Missouri. That's impossible.

Furthermore, a Trump win in New Mexico or even a very narrow loss would make the Sudden Discovery of tens of thousand of Harris ballots in Philadelphia or Madison look like a crime.

They will only not cheat if they know their cheating will be punished with jail time, and they will only know that if they see that it is simply Too Big to Steal.

There is good news all over, but it must be taken as merely a call to action, not a call to inaction. So many people have changed their party registration from D to Independent or D to Republican that the Democrat registration advantage in PA has gone from a million voter advantage for Democrats to less than 300,000.

The Wall Street Journal poll confirms a wave for Trump:

Polls are bullshit, only votes count: But these polls demonstrate that your votes will count, if we cast enough of them.

Townhall's Rebecca Downs quotes from the (paywalled) WSJ:

Views of Harris have turned more negative since August, when equal shares of voters viewed her favorably and unfavorably. Now, the unfavorable views are dominant by 8 percentage points, 53% to 45%. Moreover, voters give Harris her worst job rating as vice president in the three times the Journal has asked about it since July, with 42% approving and 54% disapproving of her performance.

By contrast, views of Trump have turned rosier. Voters recall his time as president more positively than at any point in this election cycle, with 52% approving and 48% disapproving of his performance in office--a 4-point positive job rating that contrasts with the 12-point negative rating for Harris.

Real Clear Politics has Harris up 0.2 nationally, but that is only due to the absurdly-skewed Democrat Morning Consult "poll," which isn't even poll (they pay a chosen panel to keep calling them). That poll has it Harris +4, which is preposterous, and is the only thing keeping Harris above water in the average.

Also, of course: Harris needs to win nationally by 3% to have a 50/50 chance of winning in the electoral college. A tied national vote is a big Trump electoral drubbing.

But all of this depends on us not allowing the Democrat/Media Regime to demoralize us into thinking we are already defeated before the contest is even run, propandizing us into believing we will lose because we are losers and the Democrats are strong and will crush us because we are weak and cowardly.

I don't think we are -- but if we lose this, we will be proven to be paper tigers who talk a lot but then when it's time to do a simple ten-minute task -- or a twenty minute task if you have to register still -- we decide we'd rather lose and be dominated by remorseless authoritarians who do, in fact, plan to imprison us for resisting their efforts to take America into the third world.

Gen Z Likes Trump More After McDonald's Shift
Update: Democrats Begin Going After McDonald's

McLovin approves.

Donald Trump's McDonald's Shift Went Down Best With Gen Z

Donald Trump's shift at a Pennsylvania McDonald's was most popular with Gen Z, a new poll shows.

...

A total of 39 percent of Gen Z (people born between 1997 and 2012) said Trump's stunt made them like him somewhat or much more.

This is significantly more than the 23 percent of Gen Z who said the shift made them like Trump less, while 38 percent said it did not impact how much they like Trump.

The 39 percent who said they liked the 78-year-old Republican presidential candidate more after his stint comprises 21 percent who said they liked him much more and 18 percent who said they liked him somewhat more.

Brian Stelter, who is a potato, is still seething that Trump oil-fried and salted members of his extended family.

Update: America is a gulag run by gangster socialists.

Nice Restaurant Chain You've Got Here

Too bad if something were to happen to it.

You can tell how badly Trump's McDonald's coup worried Democrats by the fact that they immediately threatened the fast food chain. Senators Ron Wyden, Bob Case, and Elizabeth Warren sent this letter to McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski.

I won't go through it line by line, but here are some observations. The left-wing senators write:

We write with concern regarding increases in fast food prices over the last several years and seeking information regarding McDonald's pricing decisions.

Scott Johnson patiently explains that price increases are rampant throughout the Biden-Harris economy, due to Biden flooding the country with greatly devalued dollars. Kamala Harris provided the key tie-braking vote to pass this economy-wrecking scheme.

But Democrats know that. This is about using government power -- backed by the resort of actual government violence -- to crush their opposition.

Polls Are Made for Strippers But Early Vote Totals Are Made For Queens

The early vote in Nevada is Stronk for Trump.

Of the seven battleground states -- Nevada, Georgia, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and "the other one," as Kamala Harris calls Michigan -- Nevada was taken by everyone I've read or heard as the best state for Kamala.

And it's not going well for her.

The early votes aren't being opened and counted-- but we do know who voted and which party they registered with. If you assume that all Democrat vote for Harris and all Republicans vote for Trump -- which isn't true, but it's close enough, with defectors cancelling each other out mostly (except to the extent defections favor Trump) -- you have a rough idea who the state is voting for.

Nevada is made up of three parts: Clark County, which is Las Vegas, and the rural vote, and everywhere else. Clark County is Democratic and Democrats need a lot of turnout there to offset the very Republican rural vote.

Clark County isn't turning out as much for Harris as she needs it to:

Updated, 10:15 PM, 10/23/24

Good evening again, blog mates.

SOS is reporting today's ballots, and I now feel like I am in the upside-down world. In past cycles, I would be telling you how the Dems were slowly building a firewall in Clark (tens of thousands more ballots than Republicans). They have successfully done this in every presidential election since 2008.

But the opposite is happening: Thanks to a rural tsunami, the GOP has moved out to a substantial ballot lead:

18,500 ballots, or almost 5 points

The rural firewall, the R advantage in the 15 smaller counties:

21,000 ballots,

The Clark firewall is at 5,000, or just 2.5 points in a place where Dems have a nearly 7 percent registration edge.

In Washoe, the swing urban county, Rs have a 4 point lead, just above their registration advantage.

Nearly 400,000 people have cast ballots, or just under 20 percent of registered voters. If turnout is 1.4 million out of the 2 million registered voters, that means almost 30 percent of the vote is in.

There is no good news in these numbers for Dems, who are basing their hopes on a deluge of mail ballots coming in during the final days and perhaps the day or two after the election (They can be counted for four days after Nov. 5.) and a very favorable split among indies in urban Nevada.

That's insane and unconstitutional and, of course, an invitation to mass vote fraud, which is the purpose of this policy.

There are about 100,000 non-major party voters in the mix, or 12 percent of their total -- that's substantially lower than the turnout by both major parties and part of the reason I think we should discount most Nevada polls. No one knows how they will break, although Dems are optimistic because they skew young, as Andy Bloch has pointed out.

But even if Kamala Harris has a 10-point lead among indies in the current makeup of the electorate, if Trump is holding his base, he is ahead by 6,000 votes or so. Not a lot, but a lead nevertheless.

Look at the urban/rural numbers:

The Rs have actually lost a few points off their rural lead -- something to watch -- but it's still large enough (37 points) to produce a huge lead (21.000 votes). I still find it humorous that the Ds have a slight turnout advantage in the rurals but are still getting crushed because of the overwhelming registration disadvantage. In the urban counties, the Rs have a turnout advantage, including 5 points in Clark and just under a point in Washoe.

Details:

Clark is turning out at about 3 points under its share of the electorate while Washoe is about 1 point below and the rurals are now 4 points above their share. That explains the GOP lead pretty succinctly. Seems unlikely that will hold as Clark ballots pour in, but we shall see.

I expect another mail dump late tonight that will help the Dems, but the Rs will still have a big lead when we wake up tomorrow.

He then updated:

Mail came into the Clark file overnight, with Dems gaining 4,000 votes overall in mail Wednesday. But not nearly enough to offset GOP in-person advantage. So:

Statewide GOP lead: 17,000, or 4.2 percent

Clark firewall: Just under 7,000, or 4.5 percent

Statewide overall turnout: 409,000, or 20 percent

If turnout is 1.4 million, nearly 30 percent of the vote is in.

Ralston also said at this point in time Ds usually have a +40k ballot lead.

Gop leads by 17k.

Posted by: It's happening

Oh, as I mentioned the other day, the GOP's early vote is made up of fewer high-propensity voters than the Democrats'. Which means the GOP is getting lower propensity voters to turn out more than the Democrats are managing.

The highest propensity voters don't even really matter in early vote figures because you know that they're going to vote, either early or late or on election day. These aren't the votes you have to work to get.

And the GOP is turning out more of the votes they have to work to get than the Democrats are.

The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

There is an arrogance among many titans of industry that is grating. Just because someone is a fantastic bank CEO or wonderful at running an airline does not mean that those skills and qualities extend into politics or, for that matter, absolutely anything else!

Far too often when these people speak about other topics they beclown themselves, and injure their companies. Just look at the rush to embrace DEI that consumed many of the largest corporations in America. They implemented it, it bit them in the ass, and many are now running away from the policies that they proudly proclaimed would propel their companies into the modern era.

That is the conceit of power...that the skills that propelled these people into positions of influence in a particular field can be extrapolated to other things...and they are wrong.

JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon quietly reveals whether he is backing Donald Trump or Kamala Harris

PMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon has privately backed Vice President Kamala Harris for president, a New York Times investigation has revealed.

Until now, the chief executive has remained quite about his stance because he was reported to be afraid Donald Trump would retaliate against people and companies.

During an appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January, Dimon faced backlash after he said Trump had been ‘kind of right’ about some economic issues, such as tax cuts.

The New York Times reported that Dimon tried to defend his statement by saying it reflected his respect for Americans who voted for the former president.

He was later forced to publicly deny that he had endorsed Trump.

‘I’m not endorsing anyone at this time. I spend more of my time on policy. What’s the policy we need that can really help both the world, foreign policy, and domestically?’, Dimon said via a spokesperson at the time.

Dimon also reprotley[sic] told his associates that he considers Trump’s 2020 election denialism close to a disqualifying factor.

So Trump is going to retaliate against JP Morgan? I doubt that very much, because injuring the biggest bank in the country would also injure most Americans, and why would he do that? As for Trump's "election denialism?" It's constitutionally protected free speech, and Dimon ought to know that because he is such a brilliant man! You know...a CEO of a big bank that hasn't beaten the SP500 index over the last five years, and also hasn't beaten Goldman Sachs!

And does he really believe that a Harris administration would be good for America? The Green New Deal, which she enthusiastically supported, would be an economy-crushing policy. Runaway government spending would drive inflation, a foreign policy that favors brutal dictatorships like Iran would destabilize the world, and a continued open border at home would be the death knell of America's economic superiority.

But Trump said pussy, so Harris must be better.

Jamie Dimon needs to shut up and run his bank, and stop worrying about hypotheticals that are vanishingly possible. In fact, a Harris administration would do far more damage to JP Morgan than any petty punishment that Trump might (but probably won't) enact. Just think about Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders leading the government's bank regulation policies!

Oh...don't forget about taxing unrealized capital gains! That would crush the banks, but Dimon carefully ignores stuff like that.

These people need to stay in their lanes and do the jobs they were hired to do.
