Whoa: The Nation's Paper of Gonzo Maoism theWashington Post Is Not Endorsing Kamala Harris

Before that: A few days ago the news dropped that the leftwing LA Times would not endorse Kamala:

Note that this is due to the billionaire owner deciding he didn't want the paper to endorse Kamala Harris. The leftwing propagandists working there all demand he allow them to endorse her (as if their endorsement matters), and the Op-Ed page editor quit because his boss won't let him use the boss's property to propagandize.

Now comes news that the Washington Post is also not endorsing Kamala, and again, because the billionaire owner Jeff Bezos thinks Trump is going to win and doesn't want to antagonize him.

Washington Post staffers are growing restless over the left-leaning paper's silence on endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for president -- with many suspecting that owner Jeff Bezos is behind the delay, according to a report.

Some insiders speculate the billionaire Amazon founder, who has not spoken publicly about the 2024 election, does not want to alienate Republican challenger Donald Trump as he gains momentum to recapture the White House next month, the Status newsletter reported Tuesday.

The newspaper's editorial board is believed to have written its backing for the Democrat but has not gotten the go-ahead to publish it from Bezos and editor-in-chief Will Lewis, wrote former CNN media observer Oliver Darcy, who launched Status after leaving the network in August.

LOL, Darcy was fired? Did CNN hire Stelter back so they could unload Darcy?

Seems like a lateral move to me! Both are horrible evil censors with gross insecurities.

The WaPo staffers are perplexed over the Beltway broadsheet remaining mum given that 20 million voters have already sent in their ballots and Election Day is less than two weeks away, he added.

The newspaper supported Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020, publishing its endorsements much earlier in past election cycles. The New York Times endorsed Harris on Sept. 30.

The Post has sought comment from the Washington Post and Bezos.

...
The paper's silence comes against the backdrop of the drama playing out in the Los Angeles Times newsroom, where the editorial board was blocked from publishing its Harris endorsement by the outlet's billionaire owner, Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong.

Soon-Shiong's intervention prompted Mariel Garza, the LA Times' editorials editor, to resign in protest on Wednesday.

They also report that Democrat partisan bankster Jamie Dimon privately supports Harris but won't say so publcly because he's afraid of Trump.

Good. Be afraid. Biden-Harris have weaponized government against the billionaires supporting Trump. You set the precedent -- yes, we will be taking scalps using the government to destroy our enemies.

You started it, and you're next.

Just pushing for strict privacy laws kills their golden goose. I doubt Trump does though because someone will whisper in his ear that it could hurt the stock market.

151 Kentucky lawmaker dies weeks after plunging into an empty swimming pool on a mower

Kentucky state Sen. Johnnie Turner, known for his staunch support for the coal industry and other causes in his Appalachian district, has died after being injured at home last month when he plunged into an empty swimming pool while aboard a lawn mower. He was 76.

Turner, a Harlan Republican, was known for his folksy manner that endeared him to constituents and colleagues alike. Turner died Tuesday evening after his “hard-fought battle” with injuries sustained in the accident, Kentucky Senate President Robert Stivers said in a statement Wednesday.

153 I think the Dems and the major media they control know that Kamala is going down hard (even harder than she did for Willie) and they are trying to salvage their nonexistent remaining respect (we didn't endorse a loser!). There's also a second motive. They want any remaining sway to salvage the Senate and the House, or at least keep it as manageable levels.

If the Republicans hold less than 225 in the House, or only 51 or so in the Senate, than the RINOs in both bodies (and particularly Murkowski and Collins in the Senate) will be able to again hamstring anything Trump wants to accomplish. This means that we need to put our heads down, continue to vote and turn others out to vote, and not let up until the leftists, deep state, and RINOs are destroyed, completely removed from all power and influence, and their reputations are publicly shredded. Only then does the United States stand a chance at recovery.

When's the last time you've been ? Seriously ? What do you think all those pop up quarter and half silhouette targets on a modern range are made of ? That's steel.

And I enlisted in '90. That little pie shaped target that pops up 50 meters (close enough to a yard) left and right ? That steel. It ain't lead, and it sure ain't paper.

Posted by: Duck and Cover at October 24, 2024 01:43 PM (gyy1g)

161 I've never seen steel targets set up so close. I've shot indoors at medium range at those paper targets on conveyor belts. I've shot serious weaponry outdoors at very long ranges. But I've never shot steel at all, let alone at that short range.
Posted by: Doctor Elric the Blade
======
You can shoot metal plates outdoors at 15 ft but you have to use frangible bullets (basically metal powder bullets that disintegrate when hitting a hard target). Plus eye protection.

Gotta watch out for those using semi autos, especially something like an AR, as these bullets can actually break up before in the chamber under the right conditions creating a jam.

There are also some metal 22 LR integrated paper target holder and bullet traps that are safer to shoot at closer range but not 15 feet aka 5 yards.

Safe distance varies by the velocity of the round, the condition of the metal plates (pitting is a no no), and the type of bullet used--frangible, soft lead, hard linotype lead, hollowpoint, and fmj requires the most distance--that can do some strange ricochets at unpredictable angles if it hits a pockmark in a metal plate.

No, Dem politicians always talk about the future of "Our Precious Democracy." I believe this a messaging failure they should hugely-regret, in hindsight. But they won't.

Back in the day papers were independent of each other and could and did have political slants on the editorial page mostly. You had republican papers and democratic papers and papers for this or that faction.

TV broke that up because there aren't enough channels so the fiction of objectivity was invented. With TV taking over papers started to die and consolidate and this meant papers had no competition and used the same lie to retain credibility.

Internet has resumed competition and the MSM can't handle it.

You live in a state where people shoot REALLY hard hitting rounds and the 300 WSM is viewed as a pantywaist cartridge.

Also may have to do with changing out the AR500 plates and their thickness. At 300 yards, you can tolerate a lot more pockmarks safely and rocket cartridges have a bit of their edge taken off by distance.

The late Louis Awerbuck was innovating in teaching close combat with shotguns and pistols shooting at various targets including metal and I think he actually wrote about the problem in a book. He mentioned some of his research in his columns for SWAT magazine back in the day.

Yeah ... so, at least by '90, they went automated. Steel targets that popped up and down. And yeah, steel. Painted matte black always. The theory, I guess, was a little better test as well as automated scoring. Hit the target, it swings back down, and the shot is recorded.

In practice, at least back then, sometimes the shots just didn't record even when you hit it - and all the other dumb Army shit. You'd often end up with a "house rule" because they knew this or that target wasn't working right.

As always, I'm always fascinated with the shit that people claim - with complete confidence - that is simply wrong.

I cannot tell you if the targets that idiot Kuce was shooting at were fixed or not and I don't know the pictures were all the clear. Nor is the distance really known, though I think a case can be made they were probably at least 21 feet away.

One can argue about the relative safety of pistol ammo at that range, however, what's indisputable is shooting steel at that distance with a rifle is completely reckless.

Dunno what the military does nowadays as it has been too long out of service. But, we never shot frangibles back in the 90's but the po po did.

Frangible ammo has come a long way nowadays with new polymer target bullets (a revival of the old primer powered rubber bullets) and binding of frangibles (sort of like MIM tech).

319 Big Green generally designates that steel targets have a minimum distance of 25 yards.

Makes sense. Any range I was ever on had the 50 left and 50 right popups. We did get to use tracers on night fires - you could see them deflect up. I always assumed that was the opposite of the "gong" targets - the steel pivots back a little bit, the round gets mostly absorbed and then skims up as a result.

I can not imagine shooting at any steel target 5 yards away. Also don't understand folks - but folks firmly say shit that simply isn't true all the time - talking about "no steel withing 300 yards" stuff. The Army simply did not work that way.

I argued when Congress wouldn't fund the wall Trump should have announced that he's going to start a tax asylum program. Until the wall is fully funded the IRS will stop all tax audits and no one will have to pay a penalty for not paying their taxes on time.

And then wait...

The border wall would have been fully funded within a week.

Note the government doesn't actually need personal income taxes as all. The logic that lets Biden/Harris spend a trillion dollars we don't have to give to illegals says that it doesn't need actual tax money either. But the government cannot give up the power of the audit.

If I were Trump, I'd order that:

1) EVERY prosecutor, including the U.S. Attorney personally in all 93 districts, will carry a criminal immigration caseload-- including misdemeanors, such as Illegal Reentry After Deportation and Misuse of a Social Security Number.

2) ALL instances of unlawful voting will be prosecuted (it's a misdemeanor too), and the U.S. Attorney will set an example once again by assigning some of these cases to herself.

Deportation of others (95%) wasn't even a consideration. Now? Absent a serious comprehensive employment-focused campaign, that somehow overcomes sanctuary lawlessness and institutional collapse, meh.

425 the continued existence of Amazon, Google, and Meta in their current forms shows antitrust is almost meaningless now -- would be nice to see that reversed
Posted by: brak

Each of those companies have seen their better days in the past. Simply put, large conglomerates come about because the original core generates such a load of cash that the firm 'invests' into going other markets. That in turn leads to a decline in managerial focus, warring divisions for new investments, etc. at the same time while the returns from the core business begin to slow or even decline.

Amazon's core business was selling stuff which is now facing online competitors like Temu as well as hybrid competition like WalMart dot com, etc. But Amazon made a wise investment into AWS which is now the tail wagging the dog of lagging retail, electronics, video, etc. returns.

Google's core business was AdSense and now has Android licensing returns. Everything else that Google has tried to make a buck from Youtube, tech,Google Voice, their version of Fakebook, etc. has essentially sucked money from those functions and now have probably become a drag on Google earnings. And so on.

438 TJM, certainly hope they push light years past the envelope on that front (Loper), and further long past time they got into the collusion game with outside groups, as the Dems have been doing for decades to loot and vandalize the country. Sue-and-settle all day long.

Outsiders bring suit based on Loper. EPA/DOL/DOJ/whatever - "yep, well, they're right, SCOTUS ruling is clear, your honor we'd like to enter into a consent decree on this matter".

I've never seen steel targets set up so close. I've shot indoors at medium range at those paper targets on conveyor belts. I've shot serious weaponry outdoors at very long ranges. But I've never shot steel at all, let alone at that short range.

The way you freeze the GOPe on Capitol Hill are extensive public investigations of foreign money and influence on Capitol Hill. McConnell ain't liked and no one, even the Dems, would be sorry to see his ass in a federal prison. The very existence of an investigation forces the conspirators, lobbyists, and the foreign powers to go to ground.

Trump's most important pick will be AG and underlings that kick that department into investigation the cozy world of influence buying in DC and that includes executive agencies.

The clean ones are the folks that have their own small donor fundraising machine. Rand Paul inherited his daddy's op. MTG is another that is funded by herself and not the awful leadership and party pacs.

It is a pretty good clue on how to stay out of the swamp--it is to spend the time to schmooze low dollar regular donors and listen to them rather than the party leaders and their associated influence peddling rats at Pacs.

It gets better. McConnell's family wasn't particularly well connected. He went to Louisville, got a law degree, and immediately started working on campaigns before he went straight to DC. He was a sickly dude even in his twenties - basically had a mild case of polio - yet pulled Elain Chow ? She wasn't just wealthy from a wealthy family. She was smokin' hot in her youth and attractive into her fifties. And rich.

And we're supposed to believe the lawyer that never made any money on his own from Kentucky pulled that pussy ? Sure. Right.

Bezos makes his money now from AWS which is a federal contractor. A switch to Microsux Azure or even Google cloud services among others is a threat. Especially since Bezos has basically failed, unlike Musk, into going in to space contracting as an alternative revenue stream. As AWS goes, so does the price of Amazon stock.

----------
You don't have to convince me about Kamala, although more likely scenario is Zimbabwe or Venezuela than an outright collapse.
But there is no amount of real world growth that could catch up to the growth of the deficit. The interest alone is 25% of the budget. And imagine what will happen if the govt didn't print and pump 2 trillion extra into the economy every year.
