Final NYT Poll: Tied Nationally.
Final CNN Poll: Tied Nationally.

A national tie is good for Republicans, usually, but a Democrat on Twitter claimed the 2012 final polls put Obama and Romney at a tie, and Obama on the national vote by 3.7% (or something like that).

So this is no time for complacency or false confidence. It's close enough that yes, your vote matters.

CNN:

InteractivePolls

FINAL NATIONAL POLL: CNN/SSRS

Trump: 47%
Harris: 47%
Stein: 1%
Other: 2%

Last poll (9/22) - Harris +1

----

Generic Ballot
GOP: 48%
DEM: 45%

The Hill reports on the Times/Siena poll:

Harris sees troubling signs in latest New York Times/Siena poll

The final national poll before Election Day from The New York Times and Siena College has some troubling signs for Vice President Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee.

The poll finds Harris deadlocked with former President Trump, the GOP nominee, after she led him in an earlier version of the poll taken in October by 3 percentage points.

The new poll is sparking talk that Harris could actually lose the popular vote to Trump.

...

Much of the talk surrounding the 2024 race has been about the chances of Harris winning the popular vote but losing the Electoral College to Trump, given the tightness of polling in seven key swing states.

But the New York Times poll suggests Harris is not building up the type of huge lead in the popular vote that might suggest she would also win the closely fought swing states.

...

In another bad sign for Harris, just 28 percent of respondents said the U.S. as a country was headed in the right direction. Given that Harris is the incumbent vice president and such numbers are difficult for a sitting administration to overcome, that is a tough number for her.

Actually, Trump's ahead of Harris in this poll when you look at the question about the real ballot, the ballot with five different candidates, not just head-to-head:

In a national poll from NY Times/Sienna released Friday, Donald Trump has surged to a one-point lead over Kamala Harris, 47 to 46 percent.

A little over two weeks ago, this same pollster showed the former president losing to Harris by three points, 44 to 47 percent.

That represents a four-point swing in one of the most trusted polls out there.

That particular result is when third-party candidates are included in the survey.

In a head-to-head race with no third-party candidates, this same poll shows the national race tied, 48 to 48 percent.

Trump's edge on the economy has supposedly shrunk to just 6 points, but I imagine that's due to Democrats just deciding that Aksually the economy must be good if I'm voting for these assholes again, after years of admitting the economy is terrible.

Still, not great.

One interesting point from Effeminate Thumb Chris Cillizza is the erosion of the Democrats' youth advantage.

Chris Cillizza
@ChrisCillizza

Broke down the 5 #'s from the NYT/Siena poll that jumped out to me.

One BIG one:

Harris is +12 among 18-29 year olds.

Biden won that age cohort by 24. Hillary won them by 19.

Trouble.

Don't get too excited: Biden is, of course, rigging the election by forcing Virginia (which is now in play) to put non-citizens who admitted they are non-citizens back on the election rolls so they can vote for Democrats:

Jason Miyares
@JasonMiyaresVA

Attorney General Miyares Releases Statement on Court Ruling Regarding Non-Citizens On Voter Rolls

It should never be illegal to remove an illegal voter. Yet, today a Court -- urged by the Biden-Harris Department of Justice -- ordered Virginia to put the names of non-citizens back on the voter rolls, mere days before a presidential election. The Department of Justice pulled this shameful, politically motivated stunt 25 days before Election Day, challenging a Virginia process signed into law 18 years ago by a Democrat governor and approved by the Department of Justice in 2006.

More concerning is the open practice by the Biden-Harris administration to weaponize the legal system against the enemies of so-called progress. That is the definition of lawfare. To openly choose weaponization over good process and lawfare over integrity isn't democracy: it's bullying, pure and simple, and I always stand up to bullies.

In the meantime, I encourage every Virginian to exercise their right to vote. Rest assured, I will never stop fighting to preserve the integrity of our election process.

The Commonwealth of Virginia will appeal this decision -- all the way to the Supreme Court, if necessary.

Scenes from the election trail:

"A Michigan Arab man was kicked out of Kamala's event with Liz Cheney for no apparent reason, and it sparked so much outrage in the community that the Harris campaign had to apologize.

USSS confirmed he wasn't a threat. This is a disaster for Kamala."

1 The correct interpretation of this glut of 50/50 polls, which extends to most swing state polls, is that pollsters are settling into the margin of error and will be able to say that they were kind of right no matter what happens.

This is their effort to save their industry by saying that they have literally no idea what's going to happen.

6 The CNN poll makes no sense. The top line race between Orange Hitler and Smegma-Colored Puta is tied, but the generic ballot is 48 to 45 in favor of GOP.

The Dums always out-poll the GOP on generic ballots (at least nationally). How is it possible that the race is tied but the GOP is surprisingly ahead on the generic?

I suspect the top-line race heavily over-sampled Dums. What's the D+ number?

I don't know who these people are, but Trump attracts millions of voters that don't vote in midterms. They only turn-out to vote for him, and then disappear for four years. It fucks up the likely voters screening, which is why Trump always ends up doing better in the final count over what the polls predict...and why he's been unusually close in Registered Voter polls, when Republicans usually lag behind democrats significantly in those polls.

50 VA needs to just ignore the DoJ and use PA in 2020 as the example, where before the election PA voters couldn't challenge how PA was disregarding election laws, since no one had been hurt yet, and couldn't challenge after because it was too late.

Or i think another state tried to stop some Dem pushed law, and we're told a few weeks from election day is too close to change things.

I think most anyone would be a nervous wreck if they were told they'd 'win' the election even if the movers and shakers have to resort to violence to achieve it.

Once the steal is codified and she's in the White House, all will become clear.

And if they fail, will she be taken to task for going along with it? Will anyone? Doubtful. But a bullet will have been dodged for about 4 years.

The adds warning that your vote status is public is mostly standard issue voter suppression - making people fear voting because there somehow might be repercussions. Also, the conspiracy minded might think that maybe even your actual vote is public (I will make another comment on that) and cause them to be reluctant to vote, or reluctant to vote against the dems if they are in dem dominant cities.

But there is a much more sinister possibility. This may be a long range plan to build support to make that information private. If they do that, then the public can not canvas, can not check addresses and do all the things MAGA has been doing for past 4 years to prove the cheat. If vote records are private, we become Venezuela where the vote is fully manufacture.

District Attorney Heather Adams revealed that the applications came from canvassers who were paid to obtain voter registrations, adding that "The majority of the applications were from residents in the city of Lancaster... The canvases themselves took place at various shopping centers, parking lots of grocery stores and businesses, sidewalks and parks."

"We are aware of at least two other counties that receive similar applications that are currently being investigated."

If you listen closely, the DA said the Clerk received the applications at or near the deadline to register to vote. That means the bad actors waited till the last minute so no one would notice. They would've used the fraudulent applications to commit mail-in ballot fraud without getting caught.

We better check the entire state of Pennsylvania, and we better see arrests NOW.

85 The correct interpretation of this glut of 50/50 polls, which extends to most swing state polls, is that pollsters are settling into the margin of error and will be able to say that they were kind of right no matter what happens.

This is their effort to save their industry by saying that they have literally no idea what's going to happen.

You are at least half right. I think the other half of the reason for the glut of 50-50 polls (or at least some portion of the reason) is that they don't want to show Trump with a real lead. I'll bet the D+ numbers are fucked in the ass to get to the tie.

I continue to believe the internal polls show Kamala getting fisted by a dozen Willie Browns. How do I know? Ignore what they say. Watch what they do. And what they are doing is insane panicking. Why? If indeed the race was tied, they could easily steal it. They'd have it in the bag.

They are acting like they DON'T have this in the bag, which suggests internal polling showing yuge Trump leads.

"50/50" is our signal to give Trump the win, but take just enough in the House and Senate to stonewall to the end of his four years. After that, onwards to the Global Reset.

97 Private votes.

I have seen reports that in most states ballots have unique ID, and that in some states that ID ties it to a voter registration record. In other states it is not explicitly tied, but it is easy enough to scan and connect.

How is this possible? Ballots are supposed to be private -- that is one of the key pillars of democracy -- and any ID on a ballot can easily tie the ballot to the voter using current tech. Scanning numbers is easy, but we also have face scanning and data analysis which can easily tie the time of vote to a ballot. Don't you think the party's would want to know exactly how each person votes for future targeted attention?

I feel like the USA has forgotten everything it knew about election security.

========

There's that, which is important an indicates a complete lack of Democrat enthusiasm.

But then there's also the fact that Republicans are leading by 10 points in FL, polling averages being only about Trump+7, and that doesn't include Others which will probably be majority Trump in FL.

There's that R's outnumber D's in returned and early voting in NV. That GA's black turnout is down ridiculously. That the gap between returned and requested ballots between the two parties in PA is significantly smaller than in either 20 or 22. That R heavy counties in WI are outright outvoting Dane County.

Saying everything's 50/50 when we're going to get a good number of these states going 53-47 or better for Trump is going to technically be within the margin for error, but no one should accept that.

America would rather memory-hole the Covid pandemic -- however I cant help but wonder about the impact of mass death, disability, and unexpressed rage and grief on our politics in ways we aren't capturing yet.
Fear and collective humiliation can and does lead to fascism.
I think of hundreds of millions of Americans spent covid worrying about the vulnerability of seniors/ elders.
Is this why the media refused to face Biden's aging for so long? And is ignoring Trump's decline right now?
Are we that scared to confront mortality and decay?

Today has been an absolute stab in the back.
What an insult to those of us who have literally put our careers and lives on the line, to call out threats to human rights and democracy.

The only solution is to toss out anything done in the past 24 years and go back to paper accounting books of registrations with paper signatures, paper ballots on one day in-person voting. No absentee, no early, no late. No computers. No software, and no electronics in the voting area.

Not really--Polling in 2012 had two tracks. Gallup and Rasmussen had Romney competitive. The rest had Obama up during October. Merging the whole polling results simply compounded the error.

That is the election that I figured out everything had changed in what I knew about elections because of the split. Gallup quit presidential polling despite being in it at its beginning and did not poll 2016, 2020, and this year. Rasmussen ended up mebbe two years later or so removing Scott Rasmussen from the company.

But, something seems off about the 2012 election because Karl Rove on screen had a meltdown over a call and Romney's team seemed surprised as well due to multiple polling failures in seeming red states like Florida.

Posted by: whig at October 25, 2024 03:51 PM (ctrM5)

Yeah, that needs to be remembered.

The rules were relaxed and broken for months to let millions (maybe tens of millions) of ballots out in the wild. By this time in 2020, millions more ballots had been returned than now.

The preliminary work at the cheat is simply not being done right now. Millions of votes behind.

The last second ballot box stuffing would be ridiculous at this point, and 2020 was already pretty damn ridiculous.

The problem is that it's based on crosstabs that are almost always wrong (they're pretty wrong for whites in general), she's polling as good as Biden was, though it didn't actually materialize, with those groups, and you'd have to believe a 10 point swing for Kamala from Trump in 2020 at the height of covid.

Not enough time in a lot of states. Basically the old Dem turnout machine relied on early voting to get out low propensity voters with a smattering of mail in ballots plus about 5 pct fraud or so from urban centers. It wasn't designed to turn out voters on Election Day.

Getting into the weeds, there is a potential that Trump is doing something the GOP has never really done until 2020 started it. Absent Trump, Ronna refused to try to do it for 2022 which is one of the way that the red wave was a mirage. The GOP traditionally has only tried to turn out base voters.

Turn out low propensity voters (males, not college educated, and alienated from the system along with younger Hispanic and black minorities that are not set in the racial grievance era).

That is why the polling was so wrong in 2020 and that the obvious last minute cheats occurred then using mail in ballots (not in person)

255 I think it's less about the number of ballots needed for the Democrats to cheat and more about where the actual decision on declaring a 'winner' is held.

I think the election results, if certified, will be contested by the losing side. It'll go to court. The eventual winner will be decided there. Not at the ballot box.

Given the state of our judicial system, including SCOTUS, I'm not overly optimistic, but we'll see how it shakes out.

Particularly important to remember. It’s easy to think the Swamp can magically manufacture votes by the millions, but magic isn’t real. There has to be a mechanism. In 2020 it was swollen, illegitimate voter rolls and ballots sent out willy-nilly. That’s not quite the case today. There’s going to be a cheat but it has to arise elsewhere.

The GOP has never really tried to turn out minorities by engaging them on their own turf ever until Trump. Instead, the GOP used mushy messaging and pandering like amnesty proposals to try to get Hispanics on board.

Whatever you can say about Trump is that he treats people as individuals and thus can go to a hostile audience like the Black Journalists, etc. and win some grudging respect. Trump's message is appealing to their own private interests (employment, no inflation, etc.) and the nation's interest instead of pandering. A certain percentage of younger POC are open to that.
