11 People can tell me in 45 minute long documentaries on Pollock's technique, his intentions, the planning, etc. But it is a lot of words and effort for something that is unpleasant and stupid looking. Hate.

14 I appreciate art that doesn't appeal to me, like some of the weird, disturbing modern stuff that CBD has put up this week.

But this is indistinguishable from handing a toddler a few brushes and saying "have at it." There just isn't anything to appreciate about it.

The Abstract Expressionists emerged from obscurity in the late 1940s to establish New York as the centre of the art world – but some say they became pawns of US spies in the Cold War. Alastair Sooke investigates.

Funniest take on modern art:
"The League" one of the guys pays a bunch of money for Klunberg. The rest tell him it looks like a dick-hawk attacking ass mountain.

Second:
"Malcolm in the Middle" where Hal make a giant abstract in the garage. That collapses on them 'cause it's like a foot thick mass of wet paint.

Third:
"Always Sunny" where Frank pretends to be an art critic. And raves over an air conditioner.

60 Reflection of the Big Dipper consists of built up layers of paint with dripped enamel as the final touch, concluding the composition. It was around 1947 that Jackson Pollock traded in his brushes for sticks, trowels and knives and began adding foreign matter, such as sand, broken glass, nails, coins, paint-tube tops and bottle caps to his canvases. From this point on, Pollock's application of paint became his main theme, which he tried to radicalize.

Oh fascinating.
This, and two more data points:
1) this spring, many reports complaining Biden had barely opened any state and local campaigns.
2) The Harris campaign is the Biden campaign; she hired all of his people to run not just national but also state operations.

They don't have a ground game because, in their minds, as true believers, they legitimately won, fair and square, in 2020 without it.
And, so they don't know what they don't know and really believe they don't need it this year.

I have seen some commentary that this year it may not be as biased. If Trump is really getting 20% of the black vote and is competitive with the Hispanic vote, that’s a lot of California and NY votes for Trump. And Texas as well will be padded for Trump. Meaning Trunpnwill win a lot of ex-Dem votes in states that “dont matter” making the popular vote more closely resemble the EC vote.

1. Again, it's not so much that R's are overperforming as D's are underperforming heavily from 2020 and 2022 (this is heavily obvious in PA). R's are returning at generally 2020 levels. D's are returning much less. Will D's suddenly start voting in the final week of early voting? Well, they haven't been yet in the first 2-3 weeks, why would they start now? Will they turn out on Election Day? Maybe, but there hasn't been a general pattern of D's out performing R's on ED in a very, very long time. It could change, but it probably won't.

This is something I've resisted thinking for a long time, but it seems increasingly obvious that it's actually true.

High level campaign Democrats genuinely thought and think 2020 was legit. So, as R's have chipped away at early voting largesse across most of the nation in the ensuing 4 years, high level D's didn't think it was that much of a threat.

It seems ridiculous, but if the whole cheat was cell based and not directed, it could explain things.

After my wife's parents died we took her modest inheritance and redid our kitchen. First stop was the granite store. We had a budget so I checked the tags carefully. At one I had to stop as I recognized it instantly. It was named 'Starry Night' and the price tag was about $50,000 - while most slabs were in the $5,000 range. It actually looked like a Van Gogh painting. I stopped at another and recognized that instantly. It was named 'Pollock' and also had a price tag near $50,000. Damn if that didn't look exactly like the work of Jackson Pollock. I sometimes wonder if Jackson had been exposed to the wonders of nature in granite as his inspiration.

But how cool would it be to have a kitchen done in either slab?

268 Also someone mention "can't vote twice"

What is important is not just when votes are being cast, but who is voting. Democrats that have early voting are high propensity voters 4/4 in the last 4 elections.

Republican votes have a very large percentage of 0/4 and 1/4 voters, so these are unlikely voters getting banked now. The 4/4 voters will dominate election day like they always do.

Democrats are getting to the point rapidly where they will have to get 0/4 and 1/4s to show up on election day itself. And they no longer have an infrastructure to do that, since switching to early voting.

Confirmed by NC data, mostly (I think NV data is showing it too).

Although, I think too much is being made of it. The differences are small, especially considering the overall bent of both parties right now.

Essentially, R's are showing all signs of being enthusiastic to vote from increased shares of registration to increased early voting while D's are showing all signs of being less enthusiastic to vote from decreased shares of registration to decreased early voting.

It's a data point in a sea of data saying that Democrats...just aren't excited by this election. Especially black people.

Almost like black voters liked Obama's VP and don't like some random Indian lady who says she's black.

So, there were teams who were told they were just verifying whether a registered voter voted. Or existed.
Which list was passed on to teams in other states told they were just filling out ballots to use as tests for the machines in another state (or some other plausible lie).
And the truck drivers were just delivering a load.
And the local mules were told those were just ballots that another local team had collected (or some other plausible lie).

That's how they injected thousand of ballots for months. And every person believed they were just doing their part to stop Trump.

And then it comes down to how the cells decide to react four years later. It's a lot of people doing discrete and specific things to pull it off which requires surprisingly little coordination when everyone is just of the same mindset with the same goal of create as many ballots as possible, and then deciding not to do it.

Well, just deciding isn't quite right. There are guardrails to a lot of it, and probably more in many states now than in the heady days of "covid killed my grandma in Seattle because you didn't wear your mask in Georgia".

It's an interesting conundrum, but the disappearance of a lot of early voters has to be explained by something.

346 I always thought Jackson Pollack's work was a big mess.

I went to the Museum of Modern Art in New York and saw
'One: Number 31, 1950'

Same thing only over 8 feet tall, over 17 feet wide.

Like a lot of art, it deserved to be the last of its kind, but maybe not for the same reason.

348 A little lighthearted fun in these times of doom and despair:

I coach my son's soccer team (4-5 year olds). At the end of every practice we scrimmage for a few minutes, but lately I've been playing against the whole team. The kids love it.

Last night it was basically me plus the girls on the team vs. the boys.

It's nothing but running and laughing. I go to try to stop the best kid on the team and my son runs out of nowhere to tackle me so his buddy could go score.

I play along, wrap him up and he's dying laughing as we're rolling on the ground.

And I have to say, for a pretty run-of-the-mill Thursday, it was a damn good night.

I'll never live that Rothko comment down. As to the Pollack painting, I've got mixed feelings. Ellie Siskind, my artistic mentor, taught me art isn't what's hanging on the wall or standing in the round; rather, art is that which is evoked (or provoked) in those experiencing a given painting, sculpture, or musical piece.

If your reaction to a Pollack painting is the strong suspicion Pollack was a con man running a scam, then you're going to be dismissive going in. If you think he's sincere, his intentions honest, that he was exploring a new way of expression, then it works, and the painting acquires power and beauty--at least for you.

The differences in 4/4 voters showing up is small. Something like 16% vs. 17%. R's usually have the smaller number, but it's not hugely smaller.

The problem is that D turnout is heavily down, R turnout is largely flat from 2020. You can look at it this way: D's are showing voting behavior of midterms, and R's are showing voting behavior of a presidential election.

It's just that D turnout was so high in the early vote in 2020. Naturally. With no cheating. Because no one would cheat in an election, and if they did it wouldn't be to actually change the result.

But, back to the point, the cannibalization argument feels like a largely empty argument to me when there's a lot of other data to point to about how things are going. If there was a huge difference, it could mean something on its own, but there is no huge difference. So, look elsewhere for information.

That sounds like a great time. Your son will always remember you taking the time to coach him and play with him like that.

I played soccer when I was in high school so when I went to college I signed up to coach 5-year-olds in the community. Back in those unenlightened days (last century) they still had them playing on full-size fields, 11 on each team. It was pretty hopeless. Just a giant scrum of 20 kids chasing the ball all over, assuming you could keep the keepers somewhere near the goal. Our keeper used to look up at the sky and spin around until he got dizzy.

Once a kid from the other team said to me, "Hey lady! Tell that kid to stop eating grass." And I looked down the field and yep, one of my kids was pulling grass and eating it. Good times.

417 396 It starts with the number of mail-in ballots.
2020 was "all registered voters in state X"

I mean, it's crazy how many states sent a ballot to every registered voter--whether requested or not, alive, dead, valid/invalid address, etc.
IIRC, every swing state was one that did that.

And Team Harris just all assumed that was going to be the case again this year ...
Posted by: People's Hippo Voice at October 25, 2024 10:30 AM (zm1uS)

========

Some states are still doing it. I can't remember which, but one of the swing states is opt out of mail in voting.

And it's still not materializing. Doesn't mean it won't, but it hasn't when it already had at a similar time 4 years ago.

Still, even if Trump loses, I think election integrity will have taken some big leaps forward in the ensuing four years. And, another obvious defrauding of the American people of its suffrage will just accelerate the trend even more.

Seriously, good ole boys of PA...you need to be ready to pass through a couple of counties to get to Philly to help them count some ballots! A hundred thousand of you, armed because Philly is dangerous, should do!

Maybe when Trump threatened to prosecute those engaged in election fraud the ballot stuffers decided it wasn't worth the risk.

Daughter played T-Ball at 4 or 5. She wanted the ball every time it was hit, no matter where on the field. Getting her to understand positions was a chore. Then, when the ball was finally hit her way, it was in the air and plopped right on her head. She cried, but went and got the ball and threw it back in.

See the Viking God of Justice - Tiu is the analog to the Norse Tyr, who was a big shot—and well-stored. Listen to how he lost his hand: There was a huge wolf named Fenrir, who was prophesied to eventually kill Odin, king of the gods. Understandably, the gods decided to restrain the beast while he was still growing.

Fenrir kept breaking his tethers, so the gods asked the dwarves to use their magic to craft a massive chain leash called Gleipnir. It was made of some impossible and unlikely elements, including the sound of cat’s footfall, a woman’s beard, the root’s of a mountain, bear sinews, fish breath, and bird spittle.

Fenrir wouldn’t let the gods bind him with Gleipnir unless one of them stuck their hand in the wolf’s mouth. Only Tyr was brave enough to do it.

Please note - Mattie Ross from Dell County, Arkansas, lost her left hand as did Tyr to bring justice.

Still, it all hinges on courts.

2020 wasn't won legally. Democrats broke a whole host of laws to win. The courts let them get away with it.

It ultimately comes down to that. Katie Hobbs could personally show up to a Maricopa election office, scratch out the numbers on the receipt and say that Harris won 1,000,000 votes to Trumps 2 and then dare the courts to invalidate legal votes. If history is any indication, the courts will allow it.

481 Wisdom dictates caution. Pennsylvania has already said they will be counting votes well after Election Day. Arizona has said the same as has Michigan. Those states are also prolific supporters of mail in ballots for any reason and ballot harvesting. Those are significant fraud vectors and every global study proves that. The recent experience in Germany is only the latest. One of the recent scams here in the US is to have real voter names on the ballot with different addresses. You will be shocked to know many swing states will count those ballots, and after they are counted will not reverse them. Beyond that Democrats are now sourcing mail in ballots from outside the country. They realize it’s about votes across the finish line that their ideologue judges will allow them to count. That said, we should be about less sanguine about what’s about to happen.

493 The differences in 4/4 voters showing up is small. Something like 16% vs. 17%. R's usually have the smaller number, but it's not hugely smaller.

The problem is that D turnout is heavily down, R turnout is largely flat from 2020. ...

... If there was a huge difference, it could mean something on its own, but there is no huge difference. So, look elsewhere for information.
Posted by: TheJamesMadison, finding suspense, madness, and humanity with Michael Powell at October 25, 2024 10:25 AM (GBKbO)

OK, so the R 4/4 numbers are pretty much the same. But what has that got to do with anything? There are only so many 4/4 voters, so it can't increase by a lot, and the fact that they're 4/4 means that that the overwhelming majority of them will show up, so it won't decrease a lot. In other words, that fact is "a given".

Then you say "D turnout is heavily down", but you're still saying "there is no huge difference".

So I still don't get the point that you're trying to make. From what you're saying, GOTV is a greater challenge for D's than previous POTUS elections due to low enthusiasm - but that's how elections are won and lost (aside from cheating).

One way to look at the 2020 steal is to think of it as a "Pearl Harbor" strike. (for the sake of brevity, please ignore all conspiracty theories).

Most people expected the Japanese to attack - somewhere
Very few, if anyone, expected the Japanese to launch a six-carrier air assault at Pearl Harbor
Only a handful of US fighters were able to engage the enemy.
US capability to counter-attack were limited by the lack of intelligence - location of the enemy and its strength, the distance of US carrier task forces from Pearl and wherever the Japanese carriers were.

All of these things and more draw a picture of situations where a deliberate and well-coordingated attack against the US occurred and the immediate aftermath was shock and confusion, cont'd

If one side had a significantly higher number of 4/4 voters in early voting, it would indicate cannibalization of the election day turnout. The people who turn out every time would be banking early, leaving election day to be lesser. So, the 16% or so is showing that overall turnout of both side's always voting partisans are about equal so far.

What matters more at this stage is getting the lesser likely to vote out, the ones who don't vote all the time. Neither side seems to have a serious advantage proportionally with this division.

The problem for Democrats is that their 2020 numbers were heavily inflated by less than likely voters, the 0's and 1's. So, these people aren't showing up, driving their overall numbers down in comparison to the previous cycle.

Essentially, early voting patterns have set, and it's about turnout and enthusiasm. Looking into early voting patterns, unless something unexpected turns up, feels like a fool's errand. Trying to point it out as indicative of anything when both sides are about the same is fighting over beans. There's other data, like the overall early voting #s.

That's what it comes down to. It sounds like there are very encouraging signs, as far as legitimate voting is concerned - which shouldn't surprise any sentient being. But it's still all about whether the inevitable steal attempt will be twarted.

Doomers should keep in mind, however that the fix was in for 2016, and that was undermined. There's all kinds of signs that unusual things have been going on the last four years, which boosts the credibility of theories that 2020 was ALLOWED to be stolen (as either a "sting" operation, and awakening exercise or both).

I simply don't believe that the blatant steal of 2020 can be repeated. At the same time, I expect something unprecedented to stand in Trump's way this time (I have no idea what). But it's practically foretold that Trump will prevail.

The only surprise would be if it was a straightforward Trump victory, and the Globalist forces immediately accepted it.
