The leaner-inclusive figure marked a net gain of 1% over the August iteration of the survey, when 47% backed each party.

We discussed yesterday how tone deaf the Democrats were to insist on funding NPR as one of the conditions to avoid a government shutdown. A new New York Times poll shows that the leadership does not even have the support of a majority of Democrats. ...Some 65 percent said Democrats should not shut down the government. Among Democrats, 43 percent said they should not shut down the government. That is at the start of the shutdown. These things tend to become less popular with time. Fighting for such items as funding your favorite media outlet is not going to resonate with Americans, who will face serious cutoffs with this move.
Russ VoughtI like it. You know what would make me love it? Permanently cancelling this boondoggle spending. New York can pay for its own infrastructure from the profits from Zohran Mamdani's government-run groceries. Democrats are all claiming that they're not fighting for free health care for illegals. They claim that illegals aren't eligible for Obamacare so none of them are on it, just like they're not allowed to vote so obviously zero illegals vote illegally. But that's not even the issue, and they know it. At least if they were on Obamacare, they would be paying something for health care. They're not. They walk into hospital ERs and do not pay anything to anybody. And you know who pays for that? Taxpayers, through the federal government, which "reimburses" hospitals for the "free" health care they provided to illegals. Which is no different than paying the bill up front. It doesn't matter whether taxpayers pay it immediately or a month later when the hospital bills the federal government. We're paying for free health care for illegals. Democrats are demanding we restore funding to hospitals for free health care for illegals.

I am fairly inured to the theater of the absurd that is most levels of American government. I rarely see anything that makes me stop and think, "now that is almost unbelievably absurd." This rare event occurred this week, courtesy of Oklahoma. Oklahoma "welcomed visitors from ICE" this week to do targeted enforcement at a commercial truck port of entry in that state to sweep for illegals. As California is the largest sanctuary state near Oklahoma (Colorado is closer, but nowhere near as large or important), Oklahoma's "Operation Guardian" specifically targeted trucks from California.
Per Oklahoma's press release about the operation, it resulted in the arrest of at least 130 drivers for "various violations" during the three-day operation. As the press release was published, Oklahoma governor Stitt made an X post with this gem:

The federal government partially shut down at midnight Wednesday, hours after all but three Senate Democrats voted down a short-term funding bill. The measure fell five votes short of passing. The shutdown is the first since December 2018, which saw non-essential government operations cease and tens of thousands of federal employees furloughed or forced to work without pay for 35 days until lawmakers agreed on a stopgap funding measure. White House Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought notified federal department and agency heads shortly after Tuesday’s failed Senate vote to keep the government funded to begin preparations for a shutdown. Democrats Senator John Fetterman (Pennsylvania) and Senator Catherine Cortez Mastro (Nevada) voted fo the measure. Independent Senator Angus King (Maine) also voted for the bill. The bill needed five more Democrats to support the measure in order for it to pass.The one phrase that jumped out at me is non-essential government operations. Well, if they're non-essential why do they even exist in the first place?! Yeah, I get it, priorities. But my observation still stands. What are the priorities of both the Federal government and of course the citizenry that in theory give it the power to engage in those activities. Or at least in theory. And that has been the issue since the founding of the Republic and then beginning with FDR who shot that to hell as the ever-expanding bureaucratic state drained our wallets and denuded our individual liberties. While no doubt the traitorous propaganda media complex will spin more furiously than Iranian centrifuges to paint all this as the fault of President Trump and the GOP we'll see if the public at large will buy into it, especially since all essential activities and payments and so on and so forth will continue as if nothing happened at all. While the sight, sound and stench of this vile beast is enough to disintegrate solid iridium, it's this kind of vomitus that makes for effective campaign ads.

His scaling to the top had to have involved a lot of DEI and a lot of glad-handing with the ruling leftists and he knew how to do it. He held positions all over the country -- Pennsylvania, etc. -- but it all started in the Washington-Baltimore area.Elsewhere, there are some troubling things coming out of Ukraine. Could they have anything to do with Pete Hegseth and President Trump's recent confab at the War Department (I love that) with top brass. I hope not.

The Pentagon says that secretary of War Hegseth merely wants to deliver a speech on the “warrior ethos” and make sure that military leaders are all walking in the same direction. The president describes the focus of the gathering in general terms: “We’re talking about what we’re doing, what they’re doing, and how we’re doing.” Still, to gather the highest-ranking members of the U.S. military in one location for a chat with the president and secretary of War leaves the impression that something of significant importance will be discussed. On Monday morning, ZeroHedge gathered data from several sites that analyze open-source intelligence to predict military engagements. Those sites were all tracking a large deployment of U.S. aerial refueling tankers crossing the Atlantic on their way to Europe. A social media account that tracks pizzerias near the Pentagon showed a spike in orders late Sunday night. The last time these sources noted a wave of air tankers leaving the United States and increased carryout orders from restaurants near the Pentagon, the U.S. military was preparing to destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities. When these open-source data points are viewed alongside the unusual meeting of top military commanders in northern Virginia, it is difficult not to conclude that a potentially significant military operation is imminent.Yeah, I know some people tend to poo-poo ZeroHedge, but still. Under Pressure from Trump, Pfizer Will Begin Discounting Some Prescription Drugs for Americans to More Closely Match the Prices They Charge Foreigners
In further Big Pharma news: Tylenol's maker "quietly" acknowledged the autism risk of the pain-reliever... back in 2018.
Pfizer has agreed to offer significantly discounted prices for some prescription drugs for all American consumers and has committed to offer prescription medications to Medicaid at lower prices, President Trump announced Tuesday. The president said the drugs will be available for purchase online on a website operated by the federal government, which the White House has said will be called "TrumpRx." "Today, I'm thrilled to announce that one of the world's largest pharmaceutical manufacturers and one of the best anywhere in the world, Pfizer, has agreed to offer countless prescription medications at major discounts in the United States, a result of the 'most favored nation' drug pricing order that we established earlier this year," Mr. Trump said in the Oval Office. Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla, who was in the Oval Office with the president for the announcement, said Mr. Trump's threat of 100% tariffs on drugs manufactured outside the U.S. motivated his company to take swift action. The president said Pfizer's drug prices will be lower starting "immediately." The president said the cost of some Pfizer drugs could see decreases in price of 50%-100%. Mr. Trump said this would save American consumers and taxpayers "hundreds of millions of dollars a year." The president said Americans have been "subsidizing research and development costs for the entire planet" because of the higher prices they have been paying. "We're also announcing that moving forward, all new medications introduced by Pfizer to the American market will be sold at the reduced most favored nation cost," the president added. "So, we'll be paying essentially what other countries are paying, who have been much lower -- much, much lower for many, many years." ... The Pfizer agreement is a part of the White House agenda to secure "most favored nation" pricing with pharmaceutical manufacturers. In May, Mr. Trump signed an executive order calling on drugmakers to lower their prices and bring them in line with what other high-income countries pay for the same drugs. He threatened to subject them to steep caps on how much they can earn from Medicare if they failed to do so. Monday was the deadline for drugmakers to reach agreements to bring down drug costs, the Post reported, after the president's May executive order. While the U.S. has less than 5% of the world's population and uses about 13% of the world's prescription drugs, the U.S. funds over 70% of global pharmaceutical profits, according to the White House.
The pharmaceutical company behind Tylenol privately acknowledged the likelihood of an association between its drug in pregnancy and neurodevelopmental disorders like autism in children seven years ago, company documents obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation show. "The weight of the evidence is starting to feel heavy to me," said Rachel Weinstein, U.S. director of epidemiology for Janssen, the pharmaceutical arm of Johnson & Johnson, in 2018. Johnson & Johnson marketed Tylenol at the time but in 2023 spun off its consumer products division into a separate company called Kenvue.Legacy media headlines and vocal public health experts have dismissed the conclusion of President Donald Trump and Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. that Tylenol taken in pregnancy and early infancy has driven rises in autism. But one stakeholder has for years viewed the evidence as credible enough to act upon, at least privately: The makers of Tylenol. The DCNF obtained the company documents from the law firm Keller Postman LLC, which brought a class action lawsuit against Kenvue in the Federal District Court for the Southern District of New York. ... A decade before Weinstein's email, in 2008, Johnson & Johnson began receiving queries from consumers and physicians about a possible link, emails show. "Not much choice but to consider this a safety signal that needs to be evaluated," J&J Office of Consumer Medical Safety Lead Andre Mann wrote in 2008 after receiving a letter from a physician with concerns. Leslie Shur, the head of the division of Johnson & Johnson that monitors the side effects of drugs already on the market, received an alert in 2012 about concerns about acetaminophen and autism from a concerned father, with one employee writing "in case this goes to press." Concerns about a link between Tylenol and neurological disorders may have reached the C-suite by 2014, according to another email, which references then-Johnson & Johnson CEO Alex Gorski. The makers of Tylenol have closely tracked a drumbeat of scientific publications finding an association between taking the blockbuster drug in pregnancy and infancy and autism risk, other company documents show. A 2018 internal presentation the company labeled "privileged and confidential" acknowledges that observational studies show a "somewhat consistent" association between prenatal exposure to Tylenol and neurodevelopmental disorders. Another presentation slide acknowledges that larger meta-analyses -- reviews summarizing multiple scientific studies -- found an association, but notes weaknesses of these studies like confounding variables and subjectivity in measuring autistic traits.

Last week we learned that the Des Moines school system hired a fugitive illegal alien to be the superintendent of schools. He was found with a loaded gun, which I don't think is legal for illegals.
He also had prior outstanding warrants for weapon possession. He was hired by a former Obama staffer named Jackie Norris. Now we find out that she's running to be a Senator from Iowa, to replace the retiring feminist RINO Joni Ernst. And she's doubling down on what a great idea it was to hire an unqualified illegal alien.And don't think he was some kind of exceptional administrator. His last evaluation stated that he "Meets Expectations," which is the middle grade for employees. A Gentleman's C, in other words. God Save these United States from Michelle Obama's and Hillary Clinton's endless hordes of angry, unqualified lesbian gender revanchists.
Democrat Jackie Norris, who oversaw the Des Moines, Iowa School Board for several years while an illegal immigrant named Ian Andre Roberts ran Des Moines' public schools, has rushed to defend Roberts publicly as he faces removal proceedings from immigration services. The Department of Homeland Security said Roberts was found in possession of a loaded handgun, $3,000 in cash and a fixed-blade hunting knife. But by defending Roberts, Norris may be undermining her own U.S. Senate campaign in a state that is growing increasingly conservative. Norris' campaign did not respond to a request for comment from Just the News. Norris encouraged "radical empathy" for Roberts Although it is a violation of federal law for those in the U.S. without legal status to possess a firearm and ammunition, Norris, who is also the former chief of staff for First Lady Michelle Obama, urged people to have "radical empathy" for the superintendent, Ian Roberts, an illegal immigrant from Guyana who has held education positions at school districts across the Midwest and mid-Atlantic regions, despite his immigration status. "There is much we do not know," Norris said. "However, what we do know is that Dr. Roberts has been an integral part of our school community since he joined over two years ago." "During his time with our district, he has shown up in ways big and small and has advocated for students and staff, and has begun introducing concepts that will help us reimagine education for future generations," she added. ... Nowhere in her statement did Norris address the fact that Immigration and Customs Enforcement said on Saturday that the agency had arrested Roberts after he sped away from officers in his vehicle during a "targeted enforcement operation" last Friday. He abandoned his vehicle near a "wooded area." Moreover, the vehicle was issued to him by the school district.

According to ICE, Roberts had existing weapons possession charges from 2020 and was issued a removal order by an immigration judge in May 2024. The superintendent had entered the country in 1999 on a student visa, but apparently remained in the country. ... The controversy comes at a bad time for Norris, who just last month expanded her political ambitions to include a seat in the U.S. Senate. When she launched her bid for the seat in the Democratic primary, she cited her experience on the Des Moines School Board as part of her qualifications.

As you probably know, Trump has already telegraphed his response to a shut down. Usually during a shut down, "non-vital" bureaucrats are furloughed. This is a scam. They get a few weeks off from working, and then get paid their lost wages when government re-opens. Trump has a different plan. He will use the opportunity of a shut down to fire thousands of unneeded bureaucrats including very senior and power left-wing bureaucrats making $100-200,000 per year. They will not be "furloughed" and then paid later for a paid vacation. They will just be shitcanned forever.

Indivisible -- the organization behind many of the recent "No Kings" protests and other demonstrations part of the so-called "resistance" against President Donald Trump -- has embarked on a recent effort to goad Senate Democrats to not come to a bipartisan funding agreement with their Republican colleagues and the president. The group's website currently hosts a form enabling people to easily contact their Democratic senators by phone, complete with a script of what to say. The group's non-tax-deductible entity, Indivisible Project, has received a total of $7.6 million in grants from the Soros' Open Society Foundations (OSF) over the past eight years, according to Indivisible's website. OSF is a grantmaking network which left-wing billionaire George Soros founded in 1993 and his son, Alexander Soros, currently chairs. "Federal government funding runs out on September 30 -- and Republicans need Democratic votes to clear the filibuster and avoid a government shutdown," Indivisible's form states. "Democrats have a strong hand to play. They must use it to deny Donald Trump the blank check Republicans want to hand him!"

Criminal Usurper Biden Put Covid Skeptics on Terrorist No-Fly List
WASHINGTON -- The Biden administration put Americans who defied COVID-19 mask mandates on no-fly lists -- some of which are ordinarily used to flag suspected terrorists -- according to preliminary findings from an internal Department of Homeland Security investigation obtained by The Post. DHS flagged 19 Americans to Transportation Security Administration watchlists between Sept. 30, 2021, and Oct. 25, 2021, more than half of whom received the most severe no-fly designation and were prevented from boarding domestic flight as a result. At least 11 of those Americans were kept on the watchlists until April 2022, when a federal court ruling forced the Biden administration to end its mask mandate. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said that "Biden's TSA wildly abused their authority" when sharing the findings from the internal investigation, first reported by Fox News, into what the prior administration had dubbed Operation Freedom to Breathe. "Biden's TSA Administrator [David] Pekoske and his cronies abused their authority and weaponized the federal government against the very people they were charged with protecting," Noem said in a statement ...Speaking of firing Democrat political activists who have burrowed into the supposedly non-partisan bureaucracy: Kash Patel fired 20 Democrat activists taking checks from the FBI who wore their FBI vests and windbreakers while kneeling for St. George Floyd of the Bloated Heart.
Noem fired five senior official associated with the operation and referred relevant information to the Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division as well as to members of Congress for further investigation. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who chairs the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, put out a brief report Monday stating that at least 24 Americans were put on TSA watchlists due merely to their association with a protest group called the Freedom to Breathe Agency, which protested mask mandates.
The FBI has fired roughly 20 agents who were photographed kneeling during a 2020 Black Lives Matter protest in Washington, D.C. The decision follows an internal review that found the agents violated bureau standards by engaging in politically charged conduct while on duty. Key Details: The Associated Press reported Saturday that several FBI agents were terminated after being identified in photos kneeling during a BLM protest in the nation's capital. Two sources said the total was about 20.
The FBI Agents Association confirmed the dismissals Friday. The group said it had urged Congress to review the firings, though Director Patel stated that all disciplinary actions were based on violations of bureau policy.
The kneeling occurred as protesters confronted federal agents protecting government buildings and monuments. According to CNN, FBI officials warned at the time that agents were not trained for crowd control and that such displays could compromise their neutrality.

He doesn't just talk about physical fitness standards, but grooming standards. That's not just about clipping nails. He's talking about the grooming standards for men and the standards for women, and he means men are going to have to dress like men with men's haircuts and women will have to dress like women. (Women can probably cut their hair short if they like. I think the standard forbids long hair for men, but I don't think there's any minimum length standard for women.)

Last week the leftwing freaked -- plot twist, I know -- over Hegseth's sudden call for all top military leaders to gather in Virginia.
They freaked because they suspected what was coming: Trump and Hegseth would tell the wokies the free ride is over. Reform or resign. But Hegseth did more than that. He called them a bunch of fat weakling cucks.

The Secretary of War addressed a room filled with United States military leaders from around the world, while legacy media outlets fretted over the "unprecedented" gathering. ... "We must be so strong that no nation will dare challenge us, so powerful that no enemy will dare threaten us, and so capable that no adversary can even think about beating us," the president said Tuesday. ... No longer will the War Department tolerate ideological standards or quotas or punish leaders for supposed "toxic" attitudes, Hegseth said. No more "identity months, DEI offices, dudes in dresses," nor will it tolerate leadership that is not aligned with the War Department's mission, he noted, pointing out to those present that he had fired some military leaders. The ideology and lowered standards implemented during President Joe Biden's administration are over, both Trump and Hegseth said. "We're done with that shit," Hegseth said. ... Hegseth repeatedly mentioned his concerns about lowered standards in the United States military, particularly when it comes to fitness and grooming, sharing that at his direction on Tuesday, every member of the Joint Force at every rank will be required to take a biannual PT test and to meet height and weight requirements for "every year of service." He even went so far as to call out leadership themselves on this issue: "It's unacceptable to see fat generals and admirals in the halls of the Pentagon, and leading all around the world. It's a bad look, and it's not who we are!" ... He specifically noted that the fitness changes are not being made in order to weed women out of the armed forces. "If women can make it, excellent," he said. "If not, it is what it is...It will also mean that weak men won't qualify, because we're not playing games. This is combat. This is life or death." The price of crude oil has dropped about 10% since the 2024 presidential election. And domestic production is expected to reach 13.41-million-barrels/day in 2025...a record! So why is that important? Because we can supply a huge amount of our domestic usage, while still exporting 10 million barrels/day. That decrease in oil price helps us domestically far more than it damages our export revenue. Contrast that with Russia, which depends far more on that export revenue. Sadly, a decrease in oil prices helps net importers...like China! But the more immediate impact on Russia's financial health might be more important. Will it pressure Putin to accelerate his Ukraine sojourn? Or maybe it will provide the impetus for some sort of negotiated ceasefire or peace treaty. Or maybe he will simply pump more oil and try to make up the difference. I doubt Russia pays attention to the OPEC+ production restrictions anyway. Putin will pump what he needs to sell, regardless! But that is a nasty little feedback loop. Pump more, drive prices down, so he needs to pump even more! All the while his petroleum infrastructure is decaying, and he can't buy a lot of equipment because of sanctions! By the way, Qatar exports most of their petroleum, so they are quite vulnerable to price decreases. It would be a shame if the Emir of Qatar would have to cut back on his funding of Hamas, Islamist programs at American universities, Tucker Carlson, and Al Jazeera! Goldman Sachs on Tuesday said that it expects OPEC+ to raise oil production quotas by 140,000 barrels per day for November.

Yes, while sometimes I get the feeling that the President is either being ill-advised or else just doesn't have a true understanding of the underlying history of the region and the nature of Islam itself, and is just eager for some kind of a deal that both looks good on his trophy shelf and takes an issue off the table allowing him to focus on other things that potentially could threaten his legacy at home and abroad and perhaps cripple the MAGA agenda and whoever its standard-bearer will be (perhaps J.D. Vance) going into 2028.
On a positive note that is not unrelated to the aforementioned and is directly related to the Democrat-fueled wave of political violence and terrorism here at home:

Americans are right to be deeply concerned about what is happening in our own country. Radical Islam is now embedded here at home, cloaked in citizenship and political power. In Dearborn, Michigan, the city’s Muslim mayor publicly berated a Christian pastor -- one of his own constituents -- labeling him “Islamophobic” and declaring him unwelcome in Dearborn. The pastor’s supposed offense? A respectful protest at a City Council meeting against renaming a major road after an open supporter of terrorism. . . And who can forget October 8, 2023 -- the day after Hamas terrorists butchered Israeli families in their homes? Before Israel could even count its dead, or bury its bodies, America’s elite universities -- including Columbia -- erupted in demonstrations supporting Hamas. This is the America we are living in: where radical sympathizers are not just chanting in the streets but are increasingly wielding power in city halls, disrupting civic life, and excusing terror on our campuses. The threat is no longer “out there.” It’s here.And as is self-evident, the black heart of Islam beats loudest and strongest inside the Democrat party. Both share the common goal of overthrowing America which is the crowning achievement of several thousand years of human development and Western civilization. And Democrats are merely their temporary allies of convenience who will deliver our heads and this nation to them on a silver platter, before their own heads of course are lopped off when they are no longer needed.

But it also leads the pack in BrowserBench, and in Cinebench 2024 single threaded, while losing by around 10% to Intel's 24 core 285HX and AMD's 16 core 9950HX3D.
Integrated graphics also look good - about half the speed of AMD's Ryzen 395, making them faster than any other integrated graphics solution... As long as your game actually runs which is by no means guaranteed.
