Moose and Moose-Sized Dogs Cafe

grassington@davezphoto.jpg
Grassington, North Yorkshire, UK
@davezphoto

Moose moments.

Compilation of dogs being silly. Begins with a very dramatic dog screaming about getting his nails trimmed.

Talking parrot gives uncanny valley vibes.

Watch cat.

Baby squirrel with paralyzed back legs is taken in by kind couple.

I would never. I don't think I have any claustrophobia, but this is nightmare fuel.

Horse meets dolphin.

Big chungus oak tree.

Monkey popcorn party.

Radio-controlled tank has got some horsepower.

Stag gives a couple of warning huffs.

Last week's eclipse.

Humanoid robot "Superman" breaks Usain Bolt's record. Not good at stopping, though.

And what is chromatic aberration? I don't recall that at all.
Posted by: bob (moron inbobnitus) at August 18, 2026 06:58 PM (/h0Lb)

Yeah, I'm curious about that too. I'm sort of an expert on chromatic aberrations myself. Only because my eyesight is dogshit and I wear thick high index of refraction polymer glasses to squint at the world Mr. Magoo style. I'm looking through quasi-prisms when I have glasses on, basically.

The aberrations occur on any object not directly in front of me. And the aberration increases the more I go off axis. Things shift colors depending which side they're on/refraction angle. And that also screws with depth perception because some aspect of comparative color is also used as by your depth senses. No problem with contacts which I prefer.

8 That shepherd dog is just too big and expensive to be practical. You want them to be cheap enough to have several of them so they can worry at some big predator coming at your flocks rather than eat up your flocks for dinner himself.

30 From previous - DeGaulle got "quiet" about repatriated gold, because he had sent a battleship to pick it up from the New York fed.

Very French thing to do, though can't really blame them I suppose. The London gold exchange collapsed soon after, by 1968 a two-tier pricing mechanism, culminating in a closing of the "gold window" where the dollar could be exchanged for gold at $35 an ounce in 1971. A "floating currency" ever since.

106 The lunatic asylums were shut down beginning in the 1960s, the selling point was largely that everyone was assured by the experts that modern pharmaceuticals were going to make them perfectly harmless, if not fully functional.

Today, however, it is just accepted that it is fully reasonable to allow mental cases to be walking around in public, or at least there is nothing that can be done unless and until they start killing people. Now that's insane.

Best dog ever. Friendly with everybody when I was around, but protective of the wife when she was alone. He'd put up with little kids crawling over him or grabbing his tail for awhile, then he'd get up and move away. After 2 or 3 moves, he'd just go to the door to be let out.
Cancer got him at 12. We've never even thought of another dog. At well over 29, not only are both of us physically unable to give a dog the kind of exercise they need, he just spoiled us.

132 So I think I figured out the next "victim group" the Democrats are going to push. Just not sure how, or even if I'm right.

It's already started, the groundwork has been laid. Just like back in 2013 when blacks were still all the rage under Obongo, I warned right here the woman push was coming, then in 2018 I warned the tranny push was coming, then in 2024 I warned the islamist push was coming. Well I've landed on the next one but it's only a guess or as Kamala might say, an outline of a guess. It's a doozy, too. I think it's "young people".

Hear me out. You know who else had "Youth"?

I'm serious. That's the shit that is headed our way next behind the barbarian muslims. I really think so. The Left works YEARS in advance. Not days, or weeks, or months. Years. Not certain, still mulling it over here. This is live. But I think that's how they're going to unload their next batch of commie jizz in America's face.

The youth of America are hard done by and Democrats have the solution. Not just the next solution - maybe even the final solution. But they have to do it multipronged (the way they're doing it) so they don't completely lose older people or any other fucktards.

136 Egypt was kind of a special case. It took a long time for their antiquities to be regarded as belonging to Egypt, and should stay in Egypt. For years, centuries almost, you paid yer money and started digging. You got to keep much if not all of what you found, particularly if their were duplicates.

If you wanted to show you've arrived, as a country, well you need an Obelisk. There's a couple interesting tales about how they ended up where they are now. I think they should have stayed at Karnak and everywhere else, but the leaders of Egypt needed hard currency, and that was one way to get it. Selling stuff.

Excavation cost a fortune, and investment money wasn't forthcoming without some incentives. Not really trying to justify what happened but that was the reality at the time, for a long time.

147 I hate getting old.

Sad news today for music fans. 💔

Frank Beard, the longtime drummer of ZZ Top, has passed away at the age of 77.

Born on June 11, 1949, in Frankston, Texas, Beard helped power ZZ Top’s unmistakable sound for more than five decades. His steady beat was the backbone of countless classics, including La Grange, Tush, Sharp Dressed Man, Legs, and Gimme All Your Lovin’. In 2004, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of ZZ Top.

For many of us who grew up in the 1970s and 1980s, ZZ Top’s music was everywhere… on the radio, on MTV, in our cars, and at countless parties and concerts.

ZZ Top’s influence extended far beyond the music industry. Fans may remember Frank Beard’s animated appearance alongside his ZZ Top bandmates in a 2007 episode of King of the Hill, a series that is now part of the Disney family of entertainment properties.

Away from the spotlight, Beard was a devoted husband and father.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Meredith, and their children.

Thank you for the music and the memories, Frank.
