Universities threaten students with investigations, disciplinary actions over 'deadnaming'Universities have time for this deplorable bullshit, of course, because they've done such a great job teaching students in the basics. Oh wait, no they haven't at all, have they? I teach calculus at Berkeley. Some of my students can't do middle school math Since the University of California abandoned the SAT and ACT, thousands of faculty say it's admitting students who aren't prepared for the coursework. Will UC listen? ... I teach mathematics at UC Berkeley. Three days a week, I stand in front of lecture halls with 500 to 1,400 students. By the second week of the semester, I already know who is in trouble. Some students are five to eight years behind in mathematics. Office hours that should be spent discussing integrals instead become lessons on fractions and basic algebra you would expect students to learn in middle school.K/b> ...What's the worse that can happen? Oh right, students might wind up Jason Ardaying themselves.

More reasons.....
1. A lot of people just take the grants they can get as a free ride for a few years with no intention of ever paying them back. 2. Students from other countries use education as the reason to come to Western countries, find work and never show up for class. 3. Chinese IP theft. 4. And the freshman 15. Every 3 months.... On the other hand, Instagram keeps serving me up pictures of biologically female university volleyball players with legs that could break open my head like a watermelon but we could probably form leagues or something. The stated purpose of public education has always been to indoctrinate students to fit into society as the school board has seen fit. Learning basic skills like math and spelling have always been secondary. Often the skills have been very important, especially as a pretext for public education, but the "fitting childeren to society" has always been the goal, hence the hatred and rejection of home and parochial schooling.
I have no problem with home or pod schooling, private schooling by a group of parents who hire a teacher or teachers to teach their kids, or any other type of private schooling. Were I King, my edict would be that a parent can get a refund on the education section of their property tax if they teach at home, can perform school work better than a C grade on standardized tests, and are off the streets between 8 and 1. About 15yrs ago when our son was teaching HS music classes a girl decided she was "Seth" and asked to change her stupido pronouns. He thought whatever and did not discuss it again. Son had seen the light years prior and was working on a new degree to escape and did. Their loss. He put up with it and out smarted her desire to get attention and be hysteric. One example is during marching band camp Seth wondered which restroom to use, hoping for a conniption. Son calmly told her to use the staff's and moved on. Well, her mother found out about Seth at some point. And who did she blame? You got it! Our son!!! Like he told her to be Seth! There was a sit down with the principal and supervisor and the stupid mother, and our son was supported and the mother had to deal. This is how stupid this has gotten. Worse as now there are furries. A couple of decades ago, the Natives got together and decided they didn't like not having their own schools in every little tiny village because they didn't want to teach their kids and didn't want them sent to boarding schools in Fairbanks or Anchorage, and claimed it was racist to not have their own schools. So they sued the state, and won. Now there are schools in every stupid tiny inaccessible village all over Alaska, at astronomical costs to the taxpayers. Come to find out, a sizeable proportion of those kids don't attend regularly, at all. In a tiny village. Where there is literally nothing else to do all day.

We ended up teaching two different classes in one lecture hall: one for students who were prepared for college calculus and one for students who needed remedial mathematics that nobody had scheduled.
So take a student who couldn't pick up seventh-grade algebra by high-school graduation. Put them in Calc I in college. Expect this person--who's demonstrably unable or unwilling to learn math at a normal rate--to learn 6.5 years worth of math in a semester. I'm sure that works well, and isn't setting them up for failure. And doesn't drag down the students who are there to learn calculus. The university gets paid either way, though, so good for them. I never heard the final resolution, so I searched for current articles. There are NONE. In all of the articles from June of 2025 when the fraud was exposed, the School Board vowed to get to the bottom of these accusations. Yet somehow not a single news source has reported how this investigation has been resolved. I did find an old article that said that the principal had been "replaced". I assume that means NOT fired and NOT jailed for fraud. When the penalties for fraud are non-existent, and you get bonuses and awards for committing fraud, then fraud will necessarily increase. Normies understand this. The "education experts" in charge of our schools are either too stupid to understand that, or are pretending to be too stupid. I don't know which is worse? Posted by: JackStraw at August 17, 2026 06:08 PM (viF8m) Both parents were raised in these same failing schools, and they both work, so homework oversight is probably fairly lax. Also, in my son's case, he would fail and they would promote him anyway. The schools don't hold any kid accountable for anything, and when you question them, they spout some horseshit like self esteem. He ended up at AMYA (the 40 week military program here run by the National Guard) and got his GED. THEY held him accountable for everything. Works like a charm. For homeschooling parents, they get every dollar that would go to the school system. It should be like that. If the parents waste it, oh well. But the good ones can take the money and we'd have alternative educational settings develop. And supermodels are upstairs right now making me a sandwich...... Middle school was a wasteland that sought to socialize the students. She never brought a book home but got straight A's even though her math teacher couldn't identify her.
We shifted to two youngers to a private school that was know for its rigor. Because of that rigor they found the private high school a piece of cake and did very well in college. Yes, Diff Eq in math class was tough for me, but in Quantum it all made sense even separating partial differential equations because it was about something real.

Amazon rip off. Shopping at Amazon, first thing is 'buy it again' aisle. I clicked off an item not giving it scrutiny because I'd bought it before.
Received it today. It was not the item I intended nor was it an item I have ever bought before. Now, they are not only doing copy cat rip-offs they are doing bait and switch. Posted by: Braenyard - some Absent Friends are more equal than others _ at August 17, 2026 06:30 PM (EYrlY) 157

What can we do personally to change all the issues we discuss here. Is it to late? Posted by: four seasons ================== That's exactly what I was wondering at #117. actually those five years between HS and college was spent running a house framing business. We built custom homes because we knew how to cut a roof. Champions, Quail Valley, Memorial, Sharpstown. Then Jimmah Cattah filed his Plyler lawsuit going out in December 1980. It was decided in 1982 and that's when Mexico moved in.

trans preverts and their enablers/exploiters like to post material on the internet and wear t-shirts with pictures of knives and guns on them, with threats of murder for not playing their game of Simon Says to their satisfaction. Threats of unemployment, expulsion from school and so on as well. They shriek about the made-up crime of dead-naming, and threaten us with the actual crime of dead. They mutilate children. They kill children. There are a bunch of these games the Left plays to seize power. The Covid requirements were an example. DEI is another. In each case the narrative is their moral imperative and the urgent immediate need for extreme action. The designers and instigators are sociopaths. They don't care how much damage they do. Their targets (e.g. us), on average, are far more concerned about right and wrong than they'll ever be. Fake moral issues that crush actual morality. The contradiction, the lie, goes back to the beginning of Marxism, back to the French Revolution. Posted by: Semi-Literate Thug at August 17, 2026 06:46 PM (L78T1) 181

93 75 In high school, my teacher told us calculus was easy, but the algebra involved to get things into useable forms was what tripped students up.
Calc I is like that. If you understand an Exponent ? You've got Calc I by the balls. Calc III is also like that, if you can juggle three variables in your head as far as which ones are the constant and which one is the variable according to the notation. Calc II is a bitch. Because it's all the Trig Identities. The messy shit you have to memorize. I hated Calc II. For those that never took Calc ? Did you ever notice that EVERY FUCKING NEWTONIAN THEOREM turns out to be 1/2 X ^ 2 ? That's basic Calc I. Springs. Gravity. All of it. Posted by: Howdy at August 17, 2026 06:09 PM (zGa1Y) I've forgotten half the Calc I took in college, and one of those courses was an upper-division one... Posted by: jim (in Kalifornia) at August 17, 2026 06:14 PM (l3cgK) --------------------------------------------------- I thought Calc I, Calc II, and Calc III were pretty easy. Advanced Calculus, I guess you might call it Calc IV, gets a little hairy until you understand the delta-epsilon proofs that make up the majority of that class.
