Kash Patel and Tulsi Gabbard Suffer Democrat Ignorance and Bluster at Hearings

Thom Tillis made up a Kash Patel Bingo card to point out that the Democrats just keep using the same discredited attacks.

@CollinRugg

JUST IN: Over 50 former and retired FBI agents send letter to Senate leaders ahead of Kash Patel's confirmation hearing, demand that they confirm him.

The 'Reform The Bureau' former agents say Patel is the only one who can fix the "broken" FBI.

The letter was sent to Senate leaders Chuck Grassley, John Thune, Dick Durbin and Chuck Schumer.

"As a group of retired FBI Special Agents ... we support President Trump's nomination of Kash Patel as the FBI's next Director."

"Many Americans have lost faith in the FBI, and for good reason. The FBI is broken. And with this loss of trust has come a rise in threats at home and abroad."

"Drug cartels and Mexican gangs have taken control of the border and have infiltrated cities across the country bringing violent crime and drugs with them."

"China has grown more brazen, engaging in espionage that robs U.S. businesses of their intellectual property and undermines our national security."

"The FBI has been used as a tool in the weaponization of the DOJ to go after its political enemies. Lives have been shattered ... This needs to stop."

"Never has the FBI faced such an urgent and compelling need for comprehensive reform as it does today. Mr. Patel has proven he possesses the breadth of experience required to address these challenges."

"His leadership, expertise, and vision make him uniquely qualified to guide the FBI through this pivotal moment. For these reasons, we stand in full support of Kash Patel's nomination."

The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

This is how it is done.

Phyllis Fong is a senior government official who publicly announced her opposition to her boss and his policies. That is her right as an American citizen.

And President Donald Trump promptly bounced her ass out of her office. That is his right and privilege as the president of The United States, and the head of the administration! No bureaucratic nonsense with panels of inquiry and carefully crafted (by the deep state) delays. Nope... she was escorted out of the building by security. And that is as it should be. She is welcome to be antagonistic to the administration's goals, but she can't do it as an employee of the administration. That should be axiomatic, and it certainly holds true in American business.

USDA Inspector General Tried to Defy Trump's Firing Order, Got Hauled Out of the Building by Security

Phyllis Fong, who served as Inspector General of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) since 2002, told colleagues last week she planned to resist President Trump's order firing multiple IGs across different federal agencies.

The act of defiance did not end well. Security greeted her when she showed up to work on Monday and promptly removed her from her office.

Good. She also stank at her job.

Just look at the six-year long mess they made of Boar's Head! The USDA had internal reports of the seemingly total breakdown of that company's food safety systems, yet sat on their ample, well-fed asses until people started dying from Lysteria infections and they couldn't keep eating donuts and doing nothing.

Fong's job was to make sure that the USDA was doing what they are supposed to do! She clearly didn't do that well, if the USDA was incapable of upholding basic food safety regulations at one of the iconic brands in the American food industry.

And it won't stop on the sidewalk outside of USDA headquarters. It is vital that congress support the president in his efforts to root out the rot within the administration's many departments, and anything less than a united front will be a powerful signal who to primary in 2026!

But it will also move into the courts, and hopefully it will go quickly to the Supreme Court, which must decide whether the hundreds of thousands of fifth column moles of the deep state can be dismissed for not supporting the policies of this, or any administration.

America cannot be held hostage by unelected bureaucrats whose political beliefs are superior to the will of the American people, as voiced on November 5th, and as implemented by the president and his officers.

It is my most fervent hope that President Donald Trump and his cabinet officers pursue this policy with vigor, because this is what he promised, and the American people seem to be tired of being lied to by their politicians!

The Morning Report — 1/30/25

warreneedle.jpg

Good morning kids. The big story this morning is out of DC, but it's not politics. Late last night an American Airlines jet collided with an Army helicopter near Reagan National airport, over the Potomac River. This is sadly now being called a mass casualty event. Prayers for the victims and loved ones. While of course, the focus is on rescue and recovery, given everything going on over the past several months, in terms of both the drone sightings, the questioning of competency of individuals in critical skilled professions and the military because of the destructive and corrosive nature of DEI, and of course the possibility of terrorism, not only in the wake of the current situation in Gaza/Lebanon/Syria and Yemen that ultimately leads to Iran but the open border and the threat to us in the wake of and well before 9/11/01.

Unfortunately, because of all of the aforementioned madness, an incident like this makes all of it come to mind when the reality is, the crash could just be plain old human error or some random failure/glitch somewhere, and not something nefarious. Mercifully, on a national level and by all appearances on the local level, the situation is not being dealt with by the likes of Karen Bass and Gavin Newsom.

Can you imagine?!

California homeowners are facing an unprecedented crisis. And the crisis is as much of a political disaster as it is a natural one. While some blame global warming for worsening this latest disaster, it is the corrupt politics of the state’s political majority that is the real issue.
California’s Democrat majority has sent the state down into a chain of crises, from crime to homelessness to droughts and disasters, worsening natural crises and manufacturing human crises, raising endless taxes and bonds with the promise of finally solving them only to corruptly loot the money for special interests, politically connected allies and into their own pockets.
Now, as California desperately needs to save its insurance market, the ex-illegal alien in a position to shape the state’s response may become its latest official indicted for corruption.

waiting for someone in DC, is it still that hideous slag Muriel Bowser?, to blame Climate change and White Supremacy.

Fire Department says 300 first responders are are carrying out a “highly complex operation.
- This flight route from Kansas direct to Reagan National (DCA) has only been operating for about a year.
- Airport Authority says crews are providing support to families. American Airlines set up rooms for families and counselors. “We are in a rescue mode.”
- Both aircraft are in the water. Divers are working both aircraft
- 64 people were on the American Airlines flight, and three crew members were on the helicopter.
- FAA and NTSB will be conducting the investigation.
- American Airlines number for family members is 1-800-679-8215.

Sen. Roger Marshall said, “When one person dies it’s a tragedy, but when many, many, many people die it’s an unbearable sorrow.” No deaths were confirmed by officials during the press conference.
- Washington Fire Chief John Donnelly said the water is “dark and murky.
. . . ABC News reports this is the first major commercial crash in the United States since 2009. The last crash involved Colgan Air Flight 3407, which crashed near Buffalo, New York. Late Wednesday night, President Trump posted his thoughts on the circumstances surrounding the tragic crash. “What a terrible night this has been. God bless you all!,” the president stated.

And with that, as the President himself might say, we'll have to just wait and see how this situation shakes out in terms of the cause and how best to prevent a repeat. All things considered, to not have a major air crash here in the US for 16 years, given the number of aircraft in the air at any given time, is still kind of amazing to consider.

The other big story, was the confirmation hearing for RFK Jr. in which he not only made especially the Democrat Senators on the panel look like idiots but in his own way exposed them as the hypocrites they are by in essence revealing them to be stooges, shills and completely in the in the pocket of Big Pharma.

As Megyn Kelly notes:

“His opponents didn’t get it. Even some of the Republicans didn’t get it. But for the most part, they did well, the Republican senators. A couple, which I’ll go over, were annoying,” Kelly said. “But the Democrats once again made fools out of themselves. They made fools out of themselves. In the same way they keep looking at Trump and saying, ‘Hitler, Nazi, fascist, convicted felon.’ And everybody’s like, ‘Screw you, we have a country to save.’ That’s how I felt today watching them go after RFK [Jr.].” “His opponents didn’t get it. Even some of the Republicans didn’t get it. But for the most part, they did well, the Republican senators. A couple, which I’ll go over, were annoying,” Kelly said. “But the Democrats once again made fools out of themselves. They made fools out of themselves. In the same way they keep looking at Trump and saying, ‘Hitler, Nazi, fascist, convicted felon.’ And everybody’s like, ‘Screw you, we have a country to save.’ That’s how I felt today watching them go after RFK [Jr.].”

So, do they hate RFK Jr. simply because Trump picked him, or because he agreed to be Trump's pick, some combo of both or because his stances are a threat to their power, influence and access to the trough, which actually is a central pillar of the MAGA movement, the upending of the tables of the moneychangers and restoration of the power of the people back to the people. Ditto every other nominee and of course every single one of us who voted for him to do what he said he would, twit: "drain the swamp."

And the Trump effect is or potentially could be that more and more people are now aware that there is a swamp, its malign intentions and then its breadth and depth. Here's to four years of Trump exactly like his first "orgasmatronic" (yes that is a word as I have confirmed on our latest podcast episode linked here and the sidebar)

10 days and then the next 8 years of Vance followed on by 8 more years of whoever is his running mate? Any guesses or am I tempting fate here?

So, evidently President Trump is sending illegal alien criminals to Gitmo! While he's at it, he needs to make room for miscreant traitors like this:

Security agents escorted the inspector general of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) out of her office Monday after she refused to comply with her firing by President Donald Trump, Reuters first reported.

Phyllis Fong, a 22-year veteran of the department, reportedly earlier informed colleagues of her intention to stay, arguing in an email obtained by the outlet that Trump’s termination orders “do not comply with the requirements set out in law and therefore are not effective at this time.”

The White House terminated Fong along with 16 other federal inspectors general via email Friday. The USDA inspector general position carries broad oversight authority within the agency, with jurisdiction over all programs, personnel and operations under the USDA’s umbrella, from farm subsidies to food safety regulations.

I prefer Kam Fong as Chin Ho, and Zulu as Kono myself.

Have a great day.

And lastly, a quick shout-out and thank you for your continued support in hitting our tip jar. It truly is appreciated more than you can know.

Top Story

  • Nvidia's RTX 5080 is here and while it is tempting to blame it for the company's $600 billion share price free fall that was probably just a jumpy and irrational stock market and not directly related to the profound ordinariness of this card. (Tom's Hardware)

It's slightly faster than last year's 4080 Super, which was slightly faster than the previous year's 4080.

It does best at 4K resolutions, where it's 9% faster, probably thanks to the much faster GDDR7 memory. At lower resolutions where memory bandwidth doesn't matter so much, performance gains average just 3%.

And with average gains that low, yes, it is sometimes slower than the previous model. I'm not sure how, because by all the numbers it should be at least a little better.

All the benchmarks seem to pit it against AMD's 7900 XTX, which comes out looking pretty good aside from ray tracing, since it is cheaper, includes 24GB of RAM compared to the 5080's 16GB, and is just as fast for anything except ray tracing.

This review bizarrely suggests skipping the 5080 for the 5090, which delivers 50% better performance for twice the price. Yes, if a $1000 video card isn't fast enough to justify the price, you should spend twice as much for something that is even worse value.

We're going to see a repeat of this next month when the cheaper models - the 5070 Ti and 5070 - arrive. In March we might see something interesting as AMD's new cards launch.

    But probably not.

The Chicago Tribune editorial board attacked Dr. Phil as "Taliban"-lkke for doing a ride-long with ICE officers as they rounded up criminals.

The Chicago Tribune editorial board viciously attacked television's Dr. Phil McGraw for appearing at the scene as ICE arrested an illegal immigrant who was a convicted sex offender and "internet predator," according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). In an editorial Monday, the once reliably conservative newspaper for over 100 years -- until it took a swing to the Left, refusing to endorse a GOP presidential candidate since 2004 -- went so far as to liken McGraw to the Taliban.

McGraw embedded with U.S. immigration officers during deportation raids and interviewed Sam Seda, a Thai national whom border czar Tom Homan stated was "an illegal alien convicted of sex crimes involving children." "He's walking the streets of Chicago," Homan added.

McGraw asked Seda if he'd "been charged with sex crimes involving children," as Homan had stated, prompting Seda to answer, "Not really."

"Here in America, we don't have show trials nor do we ritualistically lambaste such people in service of political power or television ratings," the Tribune editorial board huffed. "Unlike some nations, we don't hang, beat or interrogate people in the public square, either."

Then the Tribune vilified McGraw, saying, "We were astonished to see Phil McGraw, a man who uses a sobriquet that includes the word 'doctor,' embedding himself with ICE, a questionable move in and of itself for a person who has claimed to heal, and then literally shining a spotlight on a Thai national who was rounded up by ICE on Sunday in Chicago."

The Tribune wrote dramatically, "Dr. Phil's quarry told him he recognized him from TV and then took part, consciously or not, in his own ritual humiliation for a hungry TV audience."

...

"There was something profoundly unsettling about a man who found fame and a huge fortune in our city on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show,' a man who made his bones by offering advice to often vulnerable guests as a psychotherapist would, someone who set himself up as an avuncular healer, telling people how to nurture their relationship with their spouse or cope after a relationship has fallen apart," the Tribune complained.

...

Incredibly, the Tribune then compared Dr. Phil to the Taliban, writing, "Given the abhorrent nature of the Thai national's crimes, it's easy to say that's all fine. Take all the licks you want, Dr. Phil But it's not. The Taliban do not roam the streets of Chicago, and their modus operandi should not be applied here."

I'm not going to bother looking up their attack on CNN "journalists" for embedding with FBI agents as they raided Roger Stone's house. I'm sure it's every bit as fulsomely hysterical as this one is, because I know the corrupt, anti-American, viciously Marxist media would never celebrate the "ritual humiliation" of a Trump advisor as if they were the Taliban itself.

Trump: I might detain 30,000 illegal aliens at Guantanamo.

I was hoping for this -- we need some place to keep the criminal aliens while we negotiate with third countries to take them. The socialist tyranny of Venezuela, for example, will not take its criminals back.

President Donald Trump announced plans to sign an executive order instructing the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security to begin preparing a 30,000-bed immigrant detention facility at Guantanamo Bay.

Trump made the surprise declaration during the signing of the Laken Riley Act at the White House Wednesday afternoon to prepare a migrant facility at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp, which was used to detain suspected terrorists during the George W. Bush administration.

"Today, I'm also signing an executive order to instruct the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security to begin preparing the 30,000-person migrant facility at Guantanamo Bay. Most people don't even know about it," Trump said.

"We have 30,000 beds in Guantanamo to detain the worst criminal illegal aliens threatening the American people," Trump said. "Some of them are so bad, we don't even trust [their home] countries to hold them because we don't want them coming back. So we're going to send them out to Guantanamo."

France's Leftwing Failure Macron Considered Sending Troops to Greenland... to Fight America

Well this is the end of NATO then, isn't it?

France has discussed with Denmark sending troops to Greenland in response to United States President Donald Trump's repeated threats to annex the Danish territory, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said.

Asked about calls to send EU troops to Greenland, Barrot said in an interview with France's Sud Radio that France had "started discussing [troop deployment] with Denmark," but that it was not "Denmark's wish" to proceed with the idea.

Barrot's comments came as Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was in the middle of a lightning tour of European capitals to drum up support from allies in dealing with Trump.

The newly inaugurated U.S. president has become increasingly focused on claiming the huge Arctic island, and has pointedly not ruled out using military force or economic coercion to take it from Denmark later in the day.

Frederiksen was in Berlin and Paris Tuesday morning to speak with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron, respectively, and is set to meet NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte in Brussels.

"If Denmark calls for help, France will be there," he said. "The European borders are sovereign whether it's north, south, east and west ... nobody can allow themselves to mess around with our borders."

Barrot also said that during a European Union foreign ministers' meeting in Brussels on Monday, his counterparts had expressed their "very strong support" for Copenhagen and "were ready to consider [sending troops]" if needed.

The French foreign minister, however, said he did not believe the U.S. would invade Greenland. "It won't happen, people don't invade EU territories," he said.

Okay, you convinced me-- now I want to invade Greenland.

Macron gave an interview with an "influencer," hoping to ingratiate himself with the Yutes.

It didn't go great.

Macron's TikTok disaster: Bid to look cool backfires after president chats with 'influencer' who calls him a 'dwarf married to his teacher' who 'runs a country the size of a potato'

Emmanuel Macron's attempt to look cool online backfired after he was spotted chatting to an influencer who previously called him a dwarf who is married to his teacher.

In a clip that is making its rounds on social media, the French President is seen chatting to a content creator known as S4iintt on TikTok.

In the video, the man can be heard complaining that he had been fined £75 at a motorway toll booth for using his phone to pay at the terminal.

Facing his camera, he recounted his experience a few days earlier near Tours where he had three points taken off his driving licence because he had violated highway code which forbids holding your phone in your hand at toll booths or red lights.

The video, viewed hundreds of thousands of times, gained so much attention that it eventually reached the ears of Macron, who took the time to respond to it on TikTok, in a short video taken in selfie mode.

'I think that by 2025, you should be able to pay tolls using your phone,' Macron said coolly.

'I've passed the file on to the interior minister and we're going to sort it out collectively. Thank you for the alert.'

Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau has since confirmed that he has received the order and intends to respond positively to the president's request.

But little did Macron know, the social media personality also once dubbed him a 'dwarf married to his French teacher' at the helm of a 'country the size of a potato crisp', among other insults.

The spectacle drew sharp criticism from commentators.

One radio host quipped: 'By offering a presidential platform to the first imbecile who comes along, Macron undermines the credibility of France.'

Others accused him of prioritising social media stunts over pressing economic and political challenges.

President Macron's decision to collaborate with the content creator was intended to bridge the gap between the political elite and the younger generation.

However, the choice of platform and influencer has been met with skepticism and ridicule, and the initiative, aimed at connecting with younger voters, has spectacularly backfired, leading to a significant decline in his approval ratings.

Critics argue that the move appears insincere and highlights a disconnect between the president and the public.

Oh, apparently the European press is hiding something about this influencer.

Big shock.

Turns out he's Islamic, and he didn't just call France a "country the size of a potato." He mockingly added, "...and which is going to come to change Islam?"

In other words, he's defying this GILF-marrying dwarf to come get some from his Islamist, terrorist pals.

Tren de Aragua "Ringleader" Arrested in NYC Immigration Raids

They always knew where these vicious criminals were.

They could have stopped them from victimizing innocent people.

Instead, they danced to the tune of anti-civilization, pro-crime, pro-chaos maniac George Soros' tune.

A violent Tren de Aragua ringleader sought in an infamous, caught-on-camera break-in in Aurora, Colo., was nabbed Tuesday in a dramatic pre-dawn raid in New York City -- across from an elementary school, sources said.

Anderson Zambrano-Pacheco, 25, was taken into custody as part of the Trump administration's first promised immigration raids in the Big Apple, law-enforcement sources told The Post.

He was caught by heavily armed Homeland Security Investigations officers who stormed an Ogden Avenue apartment building in The Bronx in the early hours, the sources said.

The gangbanger, who sources described as a leader of the vicious Venezuelan gang in Aurora, had a warrant out on him for a slew of charges -- including kidnapping, burglary and menacing -- in Colorado.

Pacheco was wanted for a break-in in Aurora, Colo.

Pacheco was allegedly among the heavily armed suspects who were caught on surveillance video forcing their way into an apartment in Aurora, just outside Denver, in August.

The terrifying footage quickly thrust the suburb into the national spotlight as it showed that the area had become a hotbed of Tren de Aragua activity, with gang members taking over multiple apartment complexes in the city of 400,000.

I mean, to be fair, it was only a few apartment buildings, as shriveled troll Martha Raddatz sermonized to us.

It wasn't immediately clear when Pacheco came to the Big Apple.

His apprehension Tuesday surfaced as President Trump's new Homeland Security secretary, Kristi Noem, shared footage of a man -- who she called a "criminal alien with kidnapping, assault & burglary charges" -- being led in cuffs from an apartment building during one of the Big Apple raids. It was unclear if the suspect was Pacheco.

"Dirtbags like this will continue to be removed from our streets," Noem wrote alongside the clip.

Noem also shared a handful of images of herself wearing a protective ICE vest as she embedded with officers from multiple federal agencies in hitting the targets.

Deranged, Violent Homeless Lunatic Who Threw Woman In Front of Train Confesses His Motive: "I Did It Because I Wanted To"

Three cheers for "decarceration," everyone! Everyone give the left a big cheer for murdering as many US citizens as possible in a four year span!

The homeless man who allegedly shoved a woman into the path of a moving Manhattan train made a chilling confession -- telling cops, "I did it because I wanted to," a court heard Tuesday.

Markeese Brazelis, 26, brazenly admitted to tossing the 23-year-old victim into an incoming A train at the 168th Street station shortly after he was arrested for the savage Monday morning attack, prosecutors said at his Manhattan Criminal Court arraignment.

"I pushed her into the train because I was high and I was mad,'" Brazelis told cops, according to Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Lauren Hatz.

"I did it because I wanted to," he allegedly said.

Prosecutors said the unhinged man should be held on $150,000 bail -- arguing he posed a danger to the public as this was his third arrest in the subway system in just over a week.

$150,000 bail means a $15,000 payment by this killer and/or his family. The bail bondsman puts up 90%. (If he can find one -- I can imagine bail bondsmen not wanting to risk losing their bond for this two-legged vermin.)

Brazelis was busted on Jan. 19 for entering the prohibited area of the Bergen Street subway station -- only to be released and then arrested four days later for allegedly grabbing a woman's butt as she stood next to her partner on a subway platform, according to prosecutors.

Both cases, which included charges not bail eligible, allowed Brazelis to remain free to escalate his subway deviance -- culminating in the unprovoked attack at the Washington Heights station around 9 a.m. January 27, prosecutors said.

The maniac didn't even exchange a word with his victim before throwing her into the train, according to the ADA.

"He poses a threat to strangers he encounters on the subway platforms and he engages in criminal conduct despite being completely unprovoked," Hatz said.

Don't worry about the dramatic escalation in random maniacs throwing women in front of oncoming subways -- it's just a "transitory" increase, I've been told.

Trump Freezes All Federal Boondoggles Until They Can be Analyzed for Waste, Fraud, and Graft

Breaking Update:

Matthew Daly
@MatthewDalyWDC

WASHINGTON (AP) -- White House budget office rescinds order on federal grant freeze that sparked widespread confusion

Yeah, I don't really think much of this. I think it's being rescinded so that he can issue another executive order that avoids the fake "confusion" better.

Back to original post:

The media went berserk over this.

The Talking Points they had been fed by their Democrat allies was that Trump was freezing Social Security and Medicare payments. No matter how clear the answer that these payments were unaffected -- they're not federal grants, they're entitlements -- the media kept badgering.

The stupid, ignorant, fact-free media kept insisting that this simple, clear situation was full of "confusion:"

thereisnoconfusion.jpg

The other Talking Point they kept insisting on was that all the dozens of Transgender Equity Justice Studies that are getting their grift cut off should have been given a half year grace period so they can secure other funding without disruption of their Very Important Work.

David Strom:

It's a long overdue measure that is, unfortunately, absolutely necessary because the federal government not only wastes billions or even trillions of dollars funding shady NGOs and consultants, but these NGOs often use this money in ways that harm America. The border crisis was largely funded through federal grants to NGOs that trafficked illegal aliens to the US border, and NGOs within the United States used federal funds to disperse those aliens around the country and provide services to them.

Federal monies were also dispersed to all sorts of alphabet programs, DEI advocates, CRT, and God knows what else. Which is the point.

Not to mention that these grants, indirectly, fund the radical activist groups that have been undermining our culture and our politics, and are often landing places for political operatives in between campaigns. Democrats have been brilliant about using the taxpayers' money to subsidize their campaign organizations, and to use well-paid spots for political operatives they want to reward.

Yesterday, Karoline Leavitt revealed that Biden had ordered, on his own kingly authority, fifty million dollars to be given to the terrorists of Gaza for... condoms.

You know what causes me "confusion"? Why the fuck we're paying terrorists $50 million in slush fund monies supposedly for The Biggest Palette of Condoms In the World when we know that's going straight to digging tunnels and building IEDs.

RFK Jr. Confirmation Hearing In Progress

His opening statement stressed that Americans' health is the worst it has ever been and worst in the western world. In other words, the Pfizer-owned shills and liberal Establishment Republicans who only want to continue present disastrous policy because It's The Way We've Always Done Things are defending the indefensible.

Obviously he was "disrupted" by shrieking leftists, who of course wear the obligatory covid mask in 2025. And of course he was "disrupted" again.

Maggie Hassan just lied and claimed that Trump suspended Medicaid payments. She waved some papers around so you know this lie is Well Sourced. She also shrieked about the abortion pill, because all they care about is killing babies.

The very high-T Ron Wyden blasted RFKJr. with talking points surely provided to him by Pfizer. He insists that any criticism of vaccines, or suggesting that they have side-effects, is a "conspiracy theory," despite side-effects being listed as a danger for every single vaccine.

The Democrat Bennet of Colorado declares that it doesn't matter what RFK Jr. says because the health care system is failing and we cannot afford a Secretary of HHS who agrees that the health care system is failing. This makes no sense, of course, but this is the standard Democrat attack line: They themselves have agreed with Kennedy for 40 years that the health care system must be reformed, but they're desperate to block a Kennedy from sealing the Trump Realignment, so they're forced to argue that RFK Jr.'s agreeing with them makes him unqualified.

Wednesday Morning Rant

Keep Pushing

A week removed from the flurry of executive orders directing the government agencies to eliminate any and all "DEI" type crap from their missions, operations and publicity, I decided to take a peek and see how that's going with a small sample of government websites. I looked at NASA, DOE (both of them), HUD, DOT and HHS. It's been a mixed bag (mostly, I suspect, because they're in a hurry).

Most of the diversity-related pages are now gone, but it's often still lurking just beneath the surface, and presents an opportunity for the Trump Administration to keep pushing and, bluntly, to pour salt in the wound. There's a lot of grousing from all corners over the humiliation of being forced to retrench and purge diversity from the public image of the bureaus, but Trump can - and should - keep pushing them.

The Morning Report — 1/29/25

KahsDurbin.jpg

Good morning kids. Surprise, surprise, as Donald Trump literally kicks off the most dynamic, action-packed first week of any presidency that I can ever recall, he's making all the right wrong heads explode because he is doing exactly what he promised – which is exactly what the majority of sane, normal Americans voted him into office to do. And he's doing it while all the entrenched and embedded criminals in and out of government can do is try to derail and sabotage his cabinet picks, who are in the main on board and eager to remove the fangs and claws of the Deep State from our collective jugular. The sliming and smearing of Pete Hegseth has failed, and so now it's Tulsi Gabbard's and RFK Jr's turns to be demeaned, degraded and slandered.

Then there's the attacks on Scott Bessent, Trump'a recently confirmed Treasury Secretary. Wholly unsurprising is the fact that despite becoming the highest ranking openly homosexual to ever be confirmed by the Senate (Yeah, he outranks Mayor Buttcheeks) the Homosexual/Tranny lobby has yet to say anything. remember Identity politics is never about identity. It's about politics. I guess he's not authentically gay or something. Must be a homo equivalent of Gay blackface or something. But I digress.

Because the real story broke late yesterday:

A Massachusetts resident has been taken into custody at the U.S. Capitol after allegedly intending to assassinate Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, according to court documents. Ryan Michael “Reily” English approached Capitol Police on Monday afternoon, voluntarily surrendering himself and stating his possession of weapons, including Molotov cocktails and a knife.English reportedly had planned to target Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and House Speaker Mike Johnson. However, his focus shifted to Bessent after learning about the Senate’s vote on Bessent’s nomination as Treasury Secretary. English’s arrest occurred approximately three hours before Bessent’s appointment was confirmed. . . In the affidavit filed in federal court, English claimed he considered attacking Bessent by throwing Molotov cocktails or stabbing him if an opportunity arose. The affidavit outlined the discovery of two Molotov cocktails, constructed from vodka bottles and cloth wicks soaked in hand sanitizer, and additional weapons during a search conducted by officers. . .

Wow, how positively Jihadist of him!I say that because wait, there's more! And while it's more about the #1 with a bullet (heh) issue, the securing of our border, there's a bit of a twist that relates to the aforementioned Bessent story so let's see if you can spot it. (Fred Rogers voice) Sure, I knew you could!

The two individuals suspected in the shooting death of a U.S. Border Patrol officer near the Canadian border in Vermont last week are believed to be tied to a transgender militant group. Teresa “Milo” Youngblut and Felix “Ophelia” Baukholt were stopped by the Border Patrol officer along Interstate 91 in Coventry, Vermont, with the officer and Baukholt—a German national—subsequently dying from wounds received in a shootout. The revelation is raising concerns about a possible trans terror cell operating domestically in the U.S.Surveillance on the pair began when staff at a motel in Lyndonville, Vermont., reported their suspicious behavior, noting tactical clothing and weapons. Law enforcement asserts that Baukholt was armed during the confrontation and was fatally shot after attempting to use his weapon. . .

. . . Felix Baukholt, a German national, was living in the U.S. on an H-1B visa. Baukholt, described by acquaintances as a youth math prodigy, worked as a quantitative trader in New York after graduating from the University of Waterloo in Canada. Meanwhile, Youngblut—identifying with neo-pronouns—has been charged with using a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm during the assault that killed agent David Maland, an Air Force veteran. Being treated at a medical facility in New Hampshire, Youngblut awaits her initial court appearance scheduled for January 27.

Terrific, German transexual terrorists! or Tourists if you use Arafat's elocution. I can just picture the scene in the Fuhrer-Bunker "Steiner will Tuck and transition!!!"

Psaki-psircling back to the desperate attempts to derail Trump's appointees, in light of all of the above, I find this story particularly revolting on a number of levels:

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) on Monday pushed an anonymous smear about Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director nominee Kash Patel just days ahead of his confirmation hearing on Thursday.

Durbin, in a letter sent to Trump administration officials dated January 27, 2025, said he received “highly credible information” that Patel “broke protocol” regarding hostage rescues when he commented to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) “without authorization” about a successful hostage rescue during the first Trump administration in October 2020.

Durbin claimed the rescue of two Americans who had been held captive by Iranian-backed Houthi militants was still in progress when Patel commented to the newspaper. Durbin claimed that the WSJ published comments from Patel at 10:55 a.m. ET, several hours before the hostages were in confirmed custody of the U.S.

Funny, I don't remember hearing this bastard say peep when John Kerry was secretly traveling to Paris to engage in back channel wheeling and dealing with the Iranians during Trump's first term, when he was no longer Secretary of State.

And in light of assassination attempts on Trump, as well as acts of terrorism motivated by politics and ideology such as the mass shootings at Christian schools by Transexuals, Dick Durbin has yet to be called to account for his known and direct connection and communications with one James Hodgkinson, a Bernie Sanders supporter and a near mass assassin who critically wounded Steve Scalise while spraying him and his GOP colleagues at a softball field in 2017.

In the spirit of bipartisanship, let's get Joe Scarborough to grill Durbin, since Joe himself is to the best of my knowledge has a whiff of suspicion about him...Yeah, his 28 -year-old intern keels over in his office from a supposed undiagnosed heart ailment and strikes her head on his desk and dies. Happens every day, Mika!

All of this is the Deep State doing whatever it can to try and outlast Trump, and once again lord over us with an iron fist.

It has been a time of lies. And not just any lies. Not the white lies, the fibs, the minimal impact ones of transitory hurt feelings, spared feelings, or boosted egos. No, these lies are the far-reaching, life-changing kind, vicious lies that destroy good people, innocent people. These are the kind of lies that are blasted from the proverbial mountain top, the kind of lies so egregious it makes Moses’s top ten list. These lies may be outright fabrications, mischaracterizations, or lethal lies formed from truths cut and altered and then pasted together to give the lies the sound and feel of truth. Since there are multiple sides to the truth, the lies may masquerade as one of those sides. But lying is not a side. The middle ground between lies and truth is a lie. And no lie would be complete without the liars hypocritically projecting their own offenses, including dishonesty, onto the maligned. . .

. . . In this era of lies, liars are awarded honors, given prizes, granted presidential medals, or promoted to prestigious positions. As for the truth, the price of truth becomes so hyperinflationary, having to be paid with sacrifices so draconian — cancelled careers, ostracism, bankruptcy, prison — only the very rich with the steeliest spines and the most golden of hearts are able to afford truth. Truth is at the core of what is interesting, what is funny, what is art, what is sensible, what is wise, and what is right. Losing truth means losing all of that. In classic Capraesque fashion, an unlikely hero in the form of a blustering billionaire came along. This master salesman and self-promoting alleged narcissist somehow seems to be about the only one around with enough common sense and compassion and courage to pardon pariahs, speak the consequential truths, and open up the American First Amendment frontiers to enable truth and its byproducts to flourish.

Both the dystopian nightmare of Kafka and the American dream of Capra unexpectedly came to America. Their competing visions were prophetic more than fictional. In the 2024 election they clashed. Capra won. It’s a wonderful election. America is being fitted with wings where the iron fists of the state had been tightening its grip. As long as we continue to speak truth, as thoughtfully and courageously as much as we can, and guard those truth-telling and truth-seeking angels, America will get to keep those wings.

Have a great day.

And lastly, a quick shout-out and thank you for your continued support in hitting our tip jar. It truly is appreciated more than you can know.

Daily Tech News 29 January 2025

Top Story

  • A lot of stuff is being written about Chinese AI DeepSeek right now, and most of it is probably wrong. Somehow The Verge seems to have been skeptical where skepticism was appropriate for once. (The Verge) (archive site)
It took about a month for the finance world to start freaking out about DeepSeek, but when it did, it took more than half a trillion dollars - or one entire Stargate - off Nvidia's market cap. It wasn't just Nvidia, either: Tesla, Google, Amazon, and Microsoft tanked.
This is of course true. The sky-high valuations were irrational, and the drop was also irrational.
Even if critics are correct and DeepSeek isn't being truthful about what GPUs it has on hand (napkin math suggests the optimization techniques used means they are being truthful), it won't take long for the open-source community to find out, according to Hugging Face's head of research, Leandro von Werra. His team started working over the weekend to replicate and open-source the R1 recipe, and once researchers can create their own version of the model, "we're going to find out pretty quickly if numbers add up."
DeepSeek claims 100x improvements in training efficiency, but its published papers are full of micro-optimisations, which do not create 100x performance gains.
There are some people who are skeptical that DeepSeek's achievements were done in the way described. "We question the notion that its feats were done without the use of advanced GPUs to fine tune it and/or build the underlying LLMs the final model is based on," says Citi analyst Atif Malik in a research note. "It seems categorically false that 'China duplicated OpenAI for $5M' and we don't think it really bears further discussion," says Bernstein analyst Stacy Rasgon in her own note.
My take as well. DeepSeek did some useful work, and they published it. But there are very good reasons to believe that they didn't do everything they said - such as the fact that on release, DeepSeek was convinced it was ChatGPT.
