Wednesday Morning Rant

Keep Pushing

A week removed from the flurry of executive orders directing the government agencies to eliminate any and all "DEI" type crap from their missions, operations and publicity, I decided to take a peek and see how that's going with a small sample of government websites. I looked at NASA, DOE (both of them), HUD, DOT and HHS. It's been a mixed bag (mostly, I suspect, because they're in a hurry).

Most of the diversity-related pages are now gone, but it's often still lurking just beneath the surface, and presents an opportunity for the Trump Administration to keep pushing and, bluntly, to pour salt in the wound. There's a lot of grousing from all corners over the humiliation of being forced to retrench and purge diversity from the public image of the bureaus, but Trump can - and should - keep pushing them.

First, the job is incomplete. For example, NASA's diversity page (and the equity page) is now a 404 page. Good progress. Purged. But NASA's (former) diversity mission is still easy to find if you search for the keywords. The search index was either not part of the purge, or is running behind.

It's the same at the other sites I checked for. HUD? Gone, though less gone than NASA's. It hasn't been removed, exactly, just hidden by permissions. That's too bad, because it was a doozy that deserves to be destroyed, not merely hidden away. HHS? Gone (archive). But then, not everyone has gotten the message.

DOE has gotten the message and its purge is well underway. Even the agency's internal search engine requires some effort to make the DEI stuff from the past surface and going directly to the offending page now redirects back to the homepage (archive). Some sub-organizations still have DEI pages, but they're starting to vanish. Department of Education's DEI initiative page is not only gone (archive), Linda McMahon appears to be gloating about her agency's enthusiastic compliance. DOT's equity page now redirects back to the home page and while the agency's search engine still turns up plenty of results, the ones I clicked on also either redirect or 404.

So the purge is on. It's incomplete by all means, but it's on. That's refreshing. That's heartening. It's not enough. My brief journey through US government websites exposed something else that was so common and so obvious that I didn't notice it until I went hunting for the vestiges of DEI in the bureaus' public outlets. That obvious thing I barely if ever noticed before is just how much these people love giving each-other awards and accolades. If you delve into the search engines at most of these bureaus, you'll hit a rich vein of DEI results when you search their press release archives. They love to give and receive DEI awards.

HUD won DEI awards. NASA won DEI awards. Lawrence Livermore won DEI awards. DEI-related awards are everywhere, and US government agencies routinely won them. How many of them are proudly on display on executive credenzas and in hallway display cases throughout the agencies? These awards should be the next step. DEI awards are nothing to be proud of. Winning one means you suffer from institutional sickness, and the days celebrating derangement are over.

Once the US government and its various adjuncts, contractors, affiliates and hangers-on finish purging DEI from their public image, it is time to shift from removal to repudiation. I think President Trump should strongly consider another EO for the next stage in excising the cancer of DEI from the government: order the bureaus to publicly reject and return these awards. For every press release trumpeting some DEI award, there should be a press release announcing the rejection and return of the award because DEI is not only no longer part of the mission, it was never something worthy of accolades.

Trump's administration is well on its way to eliminating the public face of DEI, which means the momentum is his. It's nearly time to shift from public elimination to total repudiation - with the added bonus of the humiliation of subjecting the executives to self-denunciation just like they so enthusiastically did to their subordinates. Make them publicly reject and return their coveted DEI awards. Drive the point home and make it crystal clear: DEI is over, it was never good, and even the trappings of its past will be destroyed.

26 The fact that it took so long for us to build bridges with people like Nicole Shanahan is an indictment of the Republican leadership. For far too long we’ve let people like McConnell, Murkowski, Collins, Cassidy, Romney and the other buffoons pass for leadership. This goes doubly for the House where a small group of weasels have kept the agenda most Americans pine for out of reach.

Their main role has been to stifle debate, divide the people and keep power for themselves. No more. It’s time to get these pathetic power hungry subversives out of the way and give the government back to the people.

BTW… the kicker is this CEO is a white male heterosexual (of course). If he really believed in DEI he’d hand over his seat to a black female tranny

An estimate I saw said that a combination of government workers and government funding outside of government comes to about 25% of the total workforce in the United States.

That's a lot of votes, a lot of paychecks, and a lot of donations from people reliant on government funding.

Yes, everyone has heard. However, there have been MANY RIFs, base closures, and so on over many years affecting hundreds of thousands of federal workers. There were also no offers so generous in as far as $, time, and so on.

Again, here's the body of the letter, in part:

"If you choose to remain in your current position, we thank you for your renewed focus on serving the American people to the best of your abilities and look forward to working together as part of an improved federal workforce. At this time, we cannot give you full assurance regarding the certainty of your position or agency but should your position be eliminated you will be treated with dignity and will be afforded the protections in place for such positions.

If you choose not to continue in your current role with the federal workforce, we thank you for your service to your country and you will be provided with a dignified, fair departure from the federal government utilizing a deferred resignation program..."

Sir, I have it on good authority that there are only 11 million illegals in the US. Jas as there were 11 million last year, and every year before that since at least the 1970's!

Think one of the best things about this aggressive deportation is that people will see how many illegals there really are as so many businesses grind to a halt, so many businesses and services (ER, anyone?) are suddenly uncrowded, housing becomes available, etc.

It can't be that somehow the majority of that "11 million" all lived in your city and state, right? Right?!

103 Ridding the world of DEI is a major undertaking. I was looking for some documentation on the Oracle database and it had a section in the front matter about Diversity and Inclusion:

Oracle is fully committed to diversity and inclusion. Oracle respects and values having a diverse workforce that increases thought leadership and innovation. As part of our initiative to build a more inclusive culture that positively impacts our employees, customers, and partners, we are working to remove insensitive terms from our products and documentation. We are also mindful of the necessity to maintain compatibility with our customers' existing technologies and the need to ensure continuity of service as Oracle's offerings and industry standards evolve. Because of these technical constraints, our effort to remove insensitive terms is ongoing and will take time and external cooperation

Blueberries are mostly picked mechanically now, since the USDoL and the State of Oregon decided that ag labor must earn the equivalent of minimum wage no matter what, and then started screwing up the compensation calculation to Lawfare some of the biggest growers in the Willamette Valley in revenge for being involved with the Tea Party.
The cost is high in capital start up but the savings became worth it for anyone but small growers. Small growers were forced out of the market because of the labor costs.

"In the name of the best within you, do not sacrifice this world to those who are its worst. In the name of the values that keep you alive, do not let your vision of man be distorted by the ugly, the cowardly, the mindless in those who have never achieved his title. Do not lose your knowledge that man’s proper estate is an upright posture, an intransigent mind and a step that travels unlimited roads. Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it’s yours. “But to win it requires your total dedication and a total break with the world of your past"

117 From DU:

"Congressman Demands Fellow Lawmakers Stand Up To Trump: 'This Is A 5 Alarm F-ing Fire'
Source: HuffPost

Rep. Sean Casten (D-Ill.) expressed frustration Tuesday with his fellow lawmakers – particularly Democrats – who he says are not meeting the moment of the Trump administration rapidly carving out the federal government.

“If you are a Senator right now confirming ANY Trump nominee who will not unambiguously defend their oath to the Constitution even if that means standing up to Trump you are completely misunderstanding the risk of this moment,” he posted on X.

Casten, who serves on the House Financial Services committee, spoke out after the Trump administration announced it was freezing federal funding, immediately throwing agencies and Americans who depend on those funds into chaos.

“The fed. gov’t is ~20% of the US economy, spending money on those things that the private sector cannot provide – roads, security, hunger, etc. To shut that down is to carry out Russia and China’s foreign policy, destroying all that makes America the envy of the world.”"

Posted by: Colin

There are reasons behind Trump's renaming the Gulf and wanting to go after Greenland.

Likewise some of this radical idea of buying Greenland and possibly Canada. has nothing to do with his ego. That has to do with the race for minerals in the Arctic Ocean, protecting our borders, and getting us the legal right to help Europe protect their borders from the Russian and Chinese fleets that have been doing damage to infrastructure. If Greenland is the territory of the US, but still their own country like Puerto Rico, then we have the legal right to have a base there and the legal right to protect the waters around Greenland. The whole premise right now, if we were to go help Europe it would trigger an act of war. We would have to wait for Nato action to do anything. If we have the legal right, to be there. Legal right to protect Greenland, then any response to defend our territory is not considered an act of war.

______

I think crop-picking is heavily automated now, in large part because states and feds put onerous minimum-wage and labor laws on what amounts to basic manual labor.

I think the idea that there are tens of millions of illegals "doing the work Americans won't do" is outdated. A lot of the basic manual labor has been automated. I think what we have now is ten of millions of illegals sitting at home watching Mexican weather girls, collecting checks from taxpayers.

You still have lots of illegals in construction, meat processing, transportation/delivery, and the Democraps' favorites of nannies, gardeners, pool boys, and prostitutes. But I think automation will eventually replace a lot of these jobs too.

I hadn't heard of that before, but the reason is just what you'd expect. The advent of better health care meant that the population was rising at an unsustainable rate; one that Denmark would have to fund.

That is not to defend what the Danes did in any way. However, I note that the article below is from the BBC, so take it at whatever value you choose.

I don't believe anyplace in Greenland was called or named Thule when the base was established. It was a cover name to keep the location secret. IIRC the location was kept secret until sometime in the 50s when a European privately trekking in Greenland saw it. I guess DoD and CIA decided to not make him disappear.

There's also that charming policy of declaring children born to Danish fathers and Inuit women "legally fatherless", meaning that the fathers were completely off the hook for child support, etc. Nor could the children legally inherit from the Danish father, even if he DID remain with the mother.

307 I don’t see Trump’s Cabinet so much as “Avengers”. I see them more as Disruptors.

Challenge the status quo which hasn’t been working. Get rid of the stiffs and deep staters who have been undermining the people’s will. Stand up for the Bill of Rights. Our what the people want first over what Congress wants. Restore power to the people who own this government, and shrink it back to a force solely focus on what it is supposed to do. Limited and objective. Stab that behemoth right in the liver and bleed it out.

The Scandis have the same problem as the French, Brits, etc.

All the men with measurable testosterone levels either left to run the empires, or were slaughtered in some Eurosavage war or other.

IMO, WWI was the end for the Brits, just as Napoleon was the end for the French...the Scandis, of course, were draining men all the way back to the Viking Age, and emigration to the Americas finally finished them off.

I suggest you take a look at what Shanahan believes in. I think you’ll find you probably agree with her more than a Murkowski, Collins or the rest f the subversive caucus. BTW I was a skeptic at first and don’t agree 100%. But her passions are well meaning.

The covid mess - which looks more and more like grant hungry patsies being used to try and set China up to cause a pandemic with a pre-planned solutions for censorship and injurious jabs, while China thought they were stealing biowarfare tech - and the coverup and subsequent malicious vax is the biggest thing to happen since WW2.

RFK is probably willing to blow that open and the Dems know it and are terrified. What do you think is going to happen when more people find out covid was made with US funding, those who made it KNEW it was loose in October 2019, Moderna patented genes were used in making it, the original grant application listed HCQ and other cures for risk management, the jabs are made with COTS components whose purpose is transcription, and it IS transcribing into people... including cancer causing sequences they didn't disclose to regulators.

387 356 326 My detachment at NAF DC (Andrews) had a couple tanks by the line shack. One for MOGAS, probably 87 octane, for GSE, one for AV GAS because we got some visiting aircraft. Both got punished, the MOGAS during an early 70s gas crunch, and the AVGAS by the hot rod guys that hung out at the base hobby garage. My Pontiac ran OK on the MOGAS.
