The problem with solving problems is that once they are solved, no one needs the solver anymore. The better kinds of problems are recurring problems that ensure customer retention, employing plumbers, locksmiths and police officers, but the best kind are the completely unsolvable problems.Once again, the estimable Daniel Greenfield hits the nail on the head. Hell, maybe some people, who we thought forever lost to us, are at long last waking up.
And those are the only kinds of problems that the Left wants to solve.
Given enough human ingenuity and technological development, most problems can concievably be addressed and that is why the Left has to contrive to make them unsolvable by either causing the problem (homelessness), defining it in such a way that it is inherently unsolvable (equity), defining the inappropriate problem while obscuring the actual problem (gun violence) or inventing fake problems (global warming) that can never be solved because they don’t exist in the first place.
Why create unsolvable problems? They’re a virtually infinite source of money and power.
The Left came into being by defining inequality as its signature problem. Since inequality is a factor of human nature and every attempt to solve it involves creating more inequality, it was the perfect unsolvable problem. But the primal leftist error was defining inequality in social and economic terms. Growing technology and social mobility made both social and economic inequality managable even as leftits were building up a full head of steam, toppling governments and setting off revolutions. . .
. . .The one thing that the Left will never do is solve a problem. It however excels at creating them. If there is a problem out there, it will do everything within its power to make it worse by rejecting the obvious root causes and insisting that all the efforts must be directed at its ideological formula which very often has the added side effect of juicing whatever the root cause is. Faced with crime, it insists on freeing criminals, with homelessness, it subsidizes it, with school shootings carried out by suicidal fame-hungry teens, it talks of them endlessly and makes them as famous as they could ever hope to be.
Teamsters president Sean O’Brien told comedian Theo Von that the Democrats “have fucked us over for the last 40 years,” adding, “We’re standing up as a union — saying, ‘What the fuck have you done for us?'” “I’ll be honest with you, I’m a Democrat, but they have fucked us over for the last 40 years, and for once — and not all of them — but for once, we’re standing up as a union, probably the only one right now, saying, ‘What the fuck have you done for us?'” O’Brien told Von on the This Past Weekend podcast.. . . . .“I mean, I had a heated debate, a heated discussion, two weeks ago with Chuck Schumer, and it got fucking ugly,” O’Brien added, to which Von replied, “Chuck Schumer is a piece of shit.” “And it got ugly because, you know, these politicians, the one I’ve learned, they fucking walk in and they tell you, ‘I did this for you.’ Okay, great. Let me tell you what you haven’t fucking done for us or our members,” O’Brien declared. “And we got into it pretty heavy.”Oh how I'd love to put this guy in a room with Daniel Greenfield, Thomas Sowell, or good friend and friend of the blog Michael Walsh and really make the scales fall from his eyes. To go beyond just immediate electoral politics to show how things really are and what they are doing to him, his kids and grandkids. So with all of this in mind,Mrs. Emhoff asserted:
'Not a Thing That Comes to Mind': Vowing New Way Forward, Harris Says She Wouldn't Have Done Anything Different Than Joe BidenWell, of course not, Joey Sponge-Brain Shits-Pants was the puppet of supposed moderation and normalcy in the hands of radical psycho Marxist Obama and his cohorts, which is exactly what she is. And this is exactly what they have brought us to the brink of:
The Biden-Harris administration brought massive numbers of Afghans to America. The result has been terror attacks, sexual assaults, and criminal acts.Roasting your house pets or park geese in Springfield Ohio is one thing. Even home invasions where The four Venezuelan men allegedly threatened to cut off the woman's fingers if she didn't tell them where to find valuables in the home. But we now have terrorists crossing into the nation unchecked virtually at will.
And now a major terrorist plot.
According to the Department of Justice, Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, 27, an Afghan citizen awaiting parole who came here on a Special Immigrant Visa, plotted to kill Americans on Election Day.
And he didn’t do it alone.
The media loves to talk about ‘lone wolves’. This was an entire family of ‘lone wolves’. Or Islamists.
“Tawhedi was also seen in a video recorded on July 20 reading to two children text that describes the rewards a martyr receives in the afterlife,” the DOJ complaint states.
The children are Tawhedi’s daughter and his wife’s younger brother. The ISIS terrorist was telling them that Muslim terrorists get “married to 72 virgins”.
Tawhedi’s co-conspirator is described as a juvenile who appears to be Tawheid’s brother-in-law.
We’re dealing with a terrorist family here. The Islamic family that prays and preys together stays together.
That said, are the anti-American Left and Democrat party doing anything significantly less evil by fiat, edict, law or corrupt judges than criminals, illegal aliens and terrorists are or potentially will do to us in depriving us of our lives, liberty and pursuit of happiness. Very little, IMHO. Two assassination attempts on Trump, the kangaroo courts, the imprisioning of citizens for exercising their first amendment right of free speech and protest and on and on and on - the generational sacking of the treasury to fund our own enslavement and destruction just underscores that. Have a good day.

Horse and master. Guardian dog and his charges. Shaved animals (IG). Boo! Aw: mother leopard (probably) pretends to be a-scared when her cub sneaks up on her. Giving the sprog some encouragement. Or maybe she just can't see what's directly in front of her. (In related news, Joe Scarborough just reported that this leopard is the sharpest, most cogent version of a mother leopard he's ever seen.) Panda just being a big sweet Apex predator (of leaves). Fur pile. Showing a blind dog that he can dig holes at the beach. A cat, for once in his jaded cat life, is impressed by something! Always take the time to share a little joy with a stranger. At least 5,747 children underwent gender transition surgeries in the US from 2019 to 2023, according to insurance data obtained by the medical watchdog group Do No Harm. The data relies on insurance claims and therefore excludes surgeries paid for out-of-pocket and those performed at institutions which don't report claims, meaning it significantly underestimates the prevalence of these surgeries. Nonetheless, it reveals an enormous industry and undermines activists' claims that such surgeries for minors are exceedingly rare. Covered surgeries include mastectomies, breast construction, facial surgeries, and genital surgeries. Only two states, Alaska and Wyoming, had zero insurance claims filed for paediatric gender surgeries from 2019 to 2023, and even these states had patients receiving puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones under the age of 18, as did every other US state. ... A 2022 Reuters report, which also relied on insurance data, found that gender-affirming mastectomies and breast construction surgeries performed on children aged 13-17 increased from 238 in 2019 to 282 in 2021. At the same time, there was a steep increase in the prescription of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones and a surge in gender dysphoria diagnoses, Reuters found. But the new data from Do No Harm reveals that the industry is larger than previously known, and it's quickly growing despite state-level restrictions. The reported surgeries brought in more than $108 million during the five year period.Oh, Reuters, never change, you filthy f***ing communist liars.
Laurel DugganBig Chop is greasing a lot of palms. Megyn Kelly said that Shallow Throat was "digitally fellated" on the Blowjob Queen Podcast "Call Her Daddy." Wait -- fellated? Does she know something we don't? And -- digitally?
@laureldugg Thousands of children have undergone transgender surgeries in the US. The industry is far larger than previously known, bringing in well over $100M, based on insurance claims analyzed by @donoharm
Kelly weighed in on how the media covers the state of the American woman, Kamala Harris' lack of humility, the "stooge" host of the raunchy podcast, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff's ungentlemanly activities with a nanny and a woman on the street in France, and much more. "This is so infuriating," Kelly said. "What bothers me is the hypocrisy of it. They want you to end that podcast thinking Kamala Harris is the one who will protect women, who cares about women, and none of these issues is even brought up. The whole thing is designed to make Trump the devil and Harris the savior of women's rights, and it's infuriating."More:
MEGYN KELLY: I want to start today with the total abandonment of American women. Honestly, this press corps couldn't give two craps about the actual state of American women today. What they care about is that you can kill a baby in utero. Beyond that, they have absolutely no use for women. That's where I want to start today, after what I've witnessed this weekend around Kamala Harris and her absurd media behavior. Now, currently, the media is enjoying a round of 'girl boss' moments. Have you checked anything on the web today? It's all about what a girl boss Kamala Harris is as a result of her decision to appear on the podcast Call Her Daddy, which normally traffics in shows entitled quote, "F Me with a Dildo." Not kidding. But this weekend, it decided that presidential politics may, in fact, be their thing. It isn't. It was an utter fail. Okay, here's the real problem, though: Not one of those media enablers has reported on the story that we may be about to put a woman abuser in the White House as "first gentleman." Doug Emhoff, the husband of Kamala Harris, has been accused of assaulting his ex girlfriend, not 30 years ago but 12 years ago in front of a red carpet gala on the street in France in 2012 right before he met Kamala Harris. And not a single one of these same guffawing media outlets has written one word about it. We discussed this in detail on Friday's show. Now we understand that Ms Harris sat for this particular interview the day prior to the Daily Mail report breaking the news of Emhoff's alleged assault. Fair enough. The host did not know, but Kamala Harris almost certainly did. And listen to her go on that podcast and talk about what a champion of women Harris is.Much more at the link, including video and full transcript. Kelly spends some time knocking Sarah Huckabee-Sanders for noting that Kamala Harris is childless, which seems to offend her, or at least she thinks it's bad politics. Might be. But I'm all done with speech patrolling my own side. The left is openly calling for assassinations and a racial caste system, and they never speech patrol their violent, raging lunatics. In fact, they turn over whole newsrooms to them.
Philip Melanchthon Wegmann
@PhilipWegmann On Ben Shapiro show, Trump slams press for its handling of Doug Emhoff allegations that the Second Gentlemen slapped an ex-girlfriend, "if that were me it'd be the greatest story in the last five years."
Leftwing stooge and Unfunny TV Clown John Oliver notes that the Walz-Vance debate was civil, and then, reversing eight years of unceasing political propaganda about Muh Civility, asks "Why do manners even matter?" If you don't want to hear from the non-American John Oliver about American politics, I'm sure you'll want to know who noted nasty bitch Ellen DeGeneres demands you vote for, to prove that you "love" her.

From Il Post. My translation:
Tuesday night the Syrian Minister of Defense said that seven people were killed and 11 wounded in an aerial attack that struck a building in the Mezzah quarter of Damascus, the capital of Syria. Rescue operations are already underway. According to the Syrian media, the attack was carried out by Israel, which in the last year had already struck multiple times buildings in Messeh, the location of the embassies and the local offices of the UN, and in the rest of the city. Israel sometimes does not claim responsibility for these attacks. According to the Saudi Arabian television station "Al Hadath," the objective of the attack was the leadership of the Lebansese division of the political and militant group Hezballah that is responsible for bringing weapons into Lebanon at the invitation of Iran, the main supporter of the organization.I did need Google translate's help on the second part of that last sentence. Too many verbs in a car crash of a cluster. Otherwise, l'ho fatto facilemente, ero benissimo. But that's only because of luck of the draw -- they used the few words I actually know.

A statue of Poseidon looking out over the ocean in Progreso, Mexico,
as Milton menaces the sky. (Martin Zetina/AP)
Floridians are finishing last-minute preparations as Hurricane Milton approaches, with the storm expected to have life-threatening impacts from Wednesday into Thursday. Milton, now a Category 4 storm, had maximum sustained winds of 150 mph and was moving in an east-northeast direction at 9 mph, the hurricane center said in a Tuesday update.Well, that's good news -- it had been category 5. Hopefully it will fall again to a category 3, which would be damaging and dangerous but not catastrophic. But:
Milton is expected to bring a deadly storm surge, destructive winds and flooding rain, Fox Weather reports. Forecasters warned of a possible 10- to 15-foot storm surge in Tampa Bay. It is the highest surge ever predicted for that location and has led to evacuation orders for communities all along the coast. The storm surges may flood coastal lands with up to nine feet of storm-driven ocean -- or even possibly as much as 10-15 feet. Let us pray the storm loses power.
The storm could also bring widespread flooding, with 5 inches to a foot of rain forecast for the Florida peninsula, and even up to 18 inches in some places. Eleven Florida counties under mandatory evacuation orders are home to about 5.9 million people, according to county-level population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau. Media outlets showed masses of cars attempting to evacuate Florida's west coast on I-75 and State Road 56. Some are heading toward the Orlando metro area, where one resident is prepared to sell her home should it flood again. ... The hurricane is going to impact communities still reeling from Hurricane Helene just weeks ago, and will likely devastate areas hit by Hurricane Ian in 2022. ... Over the weekend, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency for 51 of the state's 67 counties. And meanwhile the Throat THOT is pestering Ron DeSantis, trying to get some FaceTime by LARPing as a "Real President" while he's actually trying to save lives. For a while it's been the case that governors and mayors show they're Strong on Storms by taking an alarmist position. This is justifiable to some extent, because if the worst happens, then anyone in the storm's path will be left to fend for themselves for 24-48 hours, and maybe up to 10-14 days under the Harris-Biden Administration. But here is the blunt warning from Tampa's mayor:
Tampa Mayor Jane Castor issued a dire warning for those who choose to stay behind in mandatory evacuation zones as Hurricane Milton barrels toward Florida. "Helene was a wake-up call, this is literally catastrophic," Castor said on CNN. "If you choose to stay in one of those evacuation areas, you are going to die."Milton might be the most devastating hurricane we've ever seen in decades:

As you may know, CBS "News" was planning to bring in a DEI "trauma specialist" to force its entire staff into a racial struggle session. Because some of the woke staffers got upset that a reporter dared to grill Woke Prophet Ta-Nehisi Coates on his claim that Israel is responsible for the rapes and murders of its citizens, and did not mention "Hamas" once in his book denying Israel's right to even exist. CBS "News" of course took the wokies' side and denounced their own reporter for having the temerity to question a Strong and Empowered Black Man.
During its editorial meeting on Monday at 9 a.m.--the morning of October 7--the network's top brass all but apologized for the interview to staff, saying that it did not meet the company's "editorial standards." After being introduced by Wendy McMahon, the head of CBS News, Adrienne Roark, who is in charge of news gathering at the network, began her remarks by saying covering a story like October 7 "requires empathy, respect, and a commitment to truth." After quoting extensively from the CBS News handbook, she said, "We will still ask tough questions. We will still hold people accountable. But we will do so objectively, which means checking our biases and opinions at the door." "We are here to report news without fear or favor," Roark added. "There are times we fail our audiences and each other. We're in one of those times right now, and it's been growing. And we're at a tipping point. Many of you have reached out to express concerns about recent reporting. Specifically about the CBS Mornings Coates interview last week as well as comments made coming out of some of our correspondents' reporting. "I want to acknowledge and apologize that it's taken this long to have this conversation. "This goes way beyond one interview, one comment, one story. This is about preserving the legacy of neutrality and objectivity that is CBS News," she said. "We want every show to be a place for courageous and robust conversations and discussions."Your reporter had a courageous and robust conversation with a race grifter -- and now you're forcing him to undergo DEI "training" to make sure he never has another courageous and robust conversation with a Person of Privilege again.
The Free Beacon has these details about the DEI "trauma specialist" who would have led the Struggle Session.
CBS News, by far the lowest-rated network in evening news, is still reeling from the backlash surrounding the VP debate, when moderators Margaret Brennan and Norah O'Donnell pestered Vance with dubious "fact checks." On Tuesday, the network is holding an all-staff trauma training session with Dr. Donald Grant, a diversity and mental health consultant, after CBS executives denounced their own anchor, Tony Dokoupil, for challenging author Ta-Nehisi Coates's one-sided account of the Israel-Palestinian conflict. Dr. Grant's social media posts include a blatantly racist image of Sen. Tim Scott (R., S.C.) alongside the caption "Uncle Tim's Cabin," a racially-charged term of disparagement. Here's what this very professional DEI expert and Race Healer posted:

The buried news here is that he isn't gay.
That is a shock. But he is another weak, wormy, grubby Male Feminist Ally, which means he's a beater and cheater and maybe something much worse.A new Male Feminist Ally trend: using Conservative Hot Girls for promotion. Before anyone says these allegations seem petty: Don't do the media's job for them. You know they've been screaming that JD Vance is nearly a rapist for talking about a real socio-political phenomenon, "childless cat ladies." These are their rules. Doug Emhoff has been Credibly Accused and is therefore Guilty.
Kamala Harris's husband was 'inappropriate' and 'misogynistic' at work, his former colleagues tell DailyMail.com. Attorneys who worked with Doug Emhoff at his former firm Venable say he yelled expletives, held a men-only cocktail hour in the office, revoked work perks from women who didn't flirt with him, and took only young, attractive associates in a limousine to a ball. A 2019 lawsuit also claimed sex discrimination by other partners in the LA office Emhoff ran, and that while engaged to Harris, he hired an 'unqualified' part-time model as a legal secretary 'because she was young, attractive and friendly with the powerful men in the office'. The claims are the latest in a string of allegations revealed by DailyMail.com that threaten to shatter Emhoff's image, heavily promoted by the Harris presidential campaign, of a feminist ally and 'wife guy'. In August DailyMail.com revealed the Los Angeles lawyer cheated on his first wife and got his daughter's grade school teacher-cum-nanny pregnant. Emhoff admitted to the affair after the story broke. And last week we uncovered claims that he struck his ex-girlfriend in 2012. ... Neither he nor the White House have commented to any other media, including DailyMail.com. Now his former colleagues from the Venable Los Angeles office, which he ran from 2006 to 2017, are coming forward with allegations about his 'inappropriate' and 'a**hole' behavior in the workplace. They all spoke upon agreement they would not be named, fearing retaliation. One senior former staffer claimed Emhoff 'bragged' about yelling 'get the f*** out of my office' to a female partner at the firm, later telling his top male colleagues that he had 'put her in her place'. 'She had to ask him something,' the ex-staffer said. 'His office door was closed. She said to his secretary, 'is he on the phone?' She said no. She tapped on the door, he didn't answer, so she slightly opened the door and stuck her head in. 'He said "get the f*** out of my office." 'What's worse was he bragged about it to the management at Venable and they were aghast. He's an a**hole. He told them how he "put her in her place". A misogynist, that's who does that.'
A female ex-staffer said it was well-known at the firm that Emhoff was 'very flirty' and that 'if you weren't flirty back or didn't respond positively then you were on his s**t list.' This former Venable lawyer accused him of 'favoritism', saying the consequences of not flirting with him were that 'you wouldn't get to work on the cases you wanted to work on.'
... ... A woman who worked under Emhoff as a junior attorney at Venable told DailyMail.com that he favored 'young, pretty girls' at the firm. 'If there was an event, like the Justice Ball, he would favor certain people. Usually it was young, pretty girls. And he would prefer for them to ride with him. He would get a limo,' she said. 'I just don't think his behavior was appropriate for the position he was in.'

The Supreme Court of the United States will hear oral arguments Tuesday in VanDerStock v. Garland, a case focused on the ATF’s unilateral action to redefine what constitutes a “firearm.” The case revolves around ATF Final Rule 2021-05F, which placed new controls on gun parts kits and firearms which Democrats describe as “ghost guns.” A central part of this rule was redefining what the word “firearm” meant so as to designate “partially completed pistol frames” and other gun parts as “firearms.”
Here's a good definition of a gun: If it can fire, it's a gun. If it can't fire, it's not a gun. What these bureaucrats are aiming for is the definition of every part of a weapon as the weapon itself, so if you need a $1 firing-pin spring or a $2 grip screw you will have to purchase it through an FFL and file a 4473. My experience with gun owners is that they are law-abiding folk. But it is arrant nonsense such as this that drives people to decide that next time they'll just buy from friends or build their own. And the ingenuity of the American gun enthusiast knows no bounds. They will stay ahead of the ATF...legally or murkily. Of course if the ATF really cared about so-called "gun violence," they would go after guns possessed by convicted felons. You know...in the inner cities...where the Democrat voting strongholds carefully protect those felons. But they do not care about bad guys using guns to commit crimes. They care about expanding their vast database of legal gun owners, and they care about the ultimate goal of their masters...confiscation of all guns in America. Well...except for those felons' guns...those are okay.

Not to worry, your government is on the job!
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas reportedly went on a luxury shopping spree in Georgetown this weekend as residents across southern Appalachia continue to beg for emergency supplies. “Mayorkas, who was impeached by the House of Representatives earlier this year for his handling of the border crisis, was spotted by the Washington Free Beacon strolling through the mens section of Sid Mashburn, a high-end menswear store, surrounded by security,” the Washington Free Beacon reported Saturday. “He appeared to purchase some items at the store, where suit jackets go for as much as three thousand dollars.” The Beacon noted that there are still more than 170,000 power outages in North Carolina “alone” and the death toll from Hurricane Helene stands at 227. Residents across flooded out regions of southern Appalachia, however, have been left without immediate disaster relief from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), an agency Mayorkas oversees as part of the Department of Homeland Security. “They desperately need oxygen for stranded home-bound seniors. They need food, clean water, and shelter,” The Federalist’s Matt Kittle reported Friday. “Sadly, they also need bodybags.” Residents have “been literally begging FEMA officials for critical supplies.”Senator Tommy Tuberville didn't mince words when he said that "People Should Be Going to Jail This is Treason."
Considering what has been done to this country by Obama and his puppets, jail is putting it mildly, especially when using a word like "treason." With an erased border and zero immigration controls with violent criminals flooding in by the millions, including Islamic terrorists among the rapists, thugs, murderers, human traffickers and house-pet roasters.
bombshell letter written by the deputy director for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) recently revealed that there are a staggering 425,431 noncitizen convicted criminals as well as 222,141 noncitizens with pending criminal charges on the agency’s non-detained docket.
These numbers pertain to any illegal immigrant released from detention into the interior of the United States with either final deportation orders or those awaiting an immigration court hearing. If that wasn’t bad enough, it gets much worse once you drill down into the numbers, as approximately 13,000 illegal immigrants on the non-detained docket have been convicted of homicide, 1,845 are currently facing homicide charges, and 16,000 have been convicted of sexual assault.
These alarming statistics challenge the narrative promoted by immigration advocates that immigrants are “less likely to commit crimes than U.S.-born citizens.”
That said, every crime committed by an illegal immigrant, beginning with the initial act of unlawfully entering the country, is an event that should never have occurred. Consequently, any criminal activity that follows is entirely preventable had proper immigration enforcement been in place from the start.
This includes heinous crimes like the killing of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray allegedly by two Venezuelan nationals who had recently entered the United States illegally but were released into the interior of the country. Or the rape and murder of Rachel Morin, a mother of five, allegedly by an illegal immigrant from El Salvador, who is also accused of murder in his home country in addition to raping a mother and her 9-year-old daughter in Los Angeles. There are also the tens of thousands of Americans killed every year by the fentanyl flowing across our border.
These crimes, as well as the added stress that mass immigration puts on local infrastructure and our national culture, are entirely preventable if our ruling elites valued U.S. sovereignty and the safety of its citizens. Instead, the basic tenets of nationhood have been cast aside and the damage has been exasperated under the Biden-Harris Junta.
Today, the total foreign-born or immigrant population (legal and illegal) is estimated to be approximately 51.6 million, an increase of around 6.6 million since Biden and Harris took office. Of that, 51.6 million, approximately 16.8 million are illegal aliens. All told, immigrants now represent 15.6 percent of the U.S. population — the highest in history.
that and the decriminalization of crime itself along with an economic policy that has put us trillions in debt while nearly strangling the lifeblood of our economy; the petrochemical industry in chasing the myth of green energy utopia. That and a foreign policy that is leading us to the brink of armageddon.
Now perhaps with the cover of two hurricanes, the powers hat be have enough of a smokescreen to try to steal enough ballots in NC, Florida, and of course Georgia.
Come on, you knew this was coming. Never let a crisis go to waste. Instead of providing immediate aid, the Biden-Harris administration worsened the crisis in North Carolina. Because a crisis justifies setting aside election rules. Can they pull off a quickie steal? Remember, they're from the government and they're here to help — help, themselves. Before Helene hit, and G-d forbid whatever the aftermath of Milton may bring, it certainly seemed as if Trump was on his way to pulling out the "W," the rigging and shenanigans already going on notwithstanding. The Democrats are seemingly in deep doo-doo with a number of their core constituencies and some of their so-called Blue Wall states were even in play. So, if the powers that be can take advantage of a situation like two convenient hurricanes to try and pull off a steal where it might not have happened otherwise, this is to be expected. Have a good day, and please stay safe! From Hurricanes? It's a snap. From criminals and thugs unleashed on us by the criminal DC junta, not so much.
North Carolina’s election board voted Monday to give residents in the western part of the state, which was hit hardest by Hurricane Helene, greater flexibility to vote by mail and run their elections.
Voters in 13 counties heavily affected by the storm will have more ways to obtain and deliver absentee ballots, while county boards will have more ability to modify their election administration plans. The changes, approved by unanimous vote of the bipartisan board, come 10 days before early voting begins in the battleground state and as mail voting is already underway.
Voters in those counties who want to cast ballots by mail will be able to request and receive them in person until Nov. 4, the day before Election Day, rather than the Tuesday before, under the usual rules. They will also be able to drop off their ballots at any county board of elections in the state or any polling sites in their counties. Previously, voters were limited to dropping absentee ballots off at the board of elections or early voting sites in their counties.

- Artist* Jason Allen has requested judicial review of the US Copyright Office's decision to deny him copyright on his* piece Théâtre D'opéra Spatial. (Ars Technica)
At issue is that Allen did not paint the image, neither in a traditional physical medium, nor in a digital one. It was generated using Midjourney."Théâtre D'opéra Spatial" is a wholly original image expressing his idea, Allen said, and to produce that human expression, he dedicated more than 100 hours to refining Midjourney text prompts through an iterative process that he estimates took more than 600 prompts. Allen told Ars that through this process, he crafted his own prompt language after determining "which parts of his instructions were effective and which were not," as well as which parts were "not even considered."
If it took you ten minutes to try each prompt, I would have to wonder what you were doing in between. The Copyright Office has said that Allen's prompts are copyrightable, but only Midjourney was responsible for the output derived from the prompts. Walsh told Ars that if Allen had used any non-AI tool to transform the final image a little, even just applying a filter, he would be "good to go" to register his work and sue anyone who "verbatim copies" it.
Surprisingly, and the EFF concurs, the Copyright Office has this pretty much right.

Pressured by Woke Left, CBS Apologizes for Daring to Question Him
It's "unprofessional" to ever ask a Black Supremacist about the words he wrote in a book.
That's where we are now -- the media believes it's "unprofessional" to ever question a lightweight black radical because they are Made of Truth.Maybe you've heard that Ta-Nehisi Coates has a new book out called "The Message" about Israel and the Palestinians. The book is based in part on a 10-day trip to the West Bank that Coates took last year. Critics have said the book presents no history of the conflict and instead presents Palestinians as victims of Israeli racism. Coates' take is so one-sided that the words Hamas and Hezbollah do not appear in his book.He spent ten whole days being led around by Hamas minders? Well, that makes him an "expert" by today's Twitter University standards.
Last week, CBS Morning had Coates on to pitch his new book but something unexpected broke out when CBS journalist Tony Dokoupil said the contents of the book reminded him of extremist rhetoric about Israel and pressed Coates on his completely one-sided account of a longstanding conflict.
Update:
Dylan Byers also reported this today UPDATE: CBS News has invited self-described "mental health expert, DEI strategist and trauma trainer" Dr. Donald Grant to moderate conversation on this issue in an all-staff meeting tomorrow. Posted by: Mark1971As I said below, mark this story -- it will continue to roil for a week. CBS will be forced to say, eventually, whether you're permitted to Question the Woke or not at some point. Jan Crawford has laid down the gauntlet -- either CBS "News" permits journalists to do journalism, or it does not. ...
See Sexton's post for video of the reporter doing what reporters are supposed to do -- asking political activists about claims they make in their books. Not just fawning over them because they're "marginalized" heroes. CBS "News" -- also suffering from leftwing "audience capture" almost as bad as MSNBC's own producers say that network is -- now throws this reporter under the bus and accuses him of having no ethics because leftwing political activists demanded they do so.

Hollywood estimates said, on Sunday, the film would make $39 million over the weekend. They can estimate the box office take on Sunday because they have Thursday, Friday, and Saturday numbers (and remember, Thursday is now considered "the weekend"), and there is a pretty good rule of thumb that Sunday's numbers will be 65-80% of Saturday's. (Or whatever -- I don't know the rule of thumb, just that it exists.)
Warner Bros. shrieked that this $39 million figure was fake and insisted that it would make $40 million or more. They were playing the game that retailers do when they charge $39.99 for something instead of $40. Except in this case, they wanted the number to appear bigger. There was a psychological comfort to having a "4" in front of the number instead of a "tragic" 3. They campaigned to get media headlines changed from a $39 million estimate to $40+ million. Some complied. But the actual figures were even lower than the $39 million estimate, as terrible, and I mean terrible, word of mouth depressed Sunday's takings. Variety calls it a "tragic" box office performance."Joker: Folie à Deux" suffered an even worse box office debut than initially expected. The off-beat comic book sequel, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, brought in a tragic $37.8 million in its first weekend of release. By comparison, the original "Joker" earned $39 million on Friday alone in 2019. Initial tracking was closer to $70 million, but those projections shrank dramatically in recent weeks to $50 million to $60 million. Monday's final tally is below Sunday's estimate of $40 million, which was flop territory for the $200 million-budgeted tentpole. With bad buzz and terrible word-of-mouth (including a rare "D" grade on CinemaScore), "Joker 2" didn't come close to matching the start of "Joker," which set an October opening weekend record with $96.2 million. The polarizing reception will likely doom its big-screen staying power. The movie made $80 million overseas, which sounds good until you compare it with the first film's opening weekend overseas takings -- $136 million. Many were saying the film is a deliberate "F*** You" to the audience that supported the original. Even leftwing fake news outlet Rolling Stone admits this now:
