Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Farming Grift CafePlantation in Charleston by Jon Evan Glaser Horse and master. Guardian dog and his charges. Shaved animals (IG). Boo! Aw: mother leopard (probably) pretends to be a-scared when her cub sneaks up on her. Giving the sprog some encouragement. Or maybe she just can't see what's directly in front of her. (In related news, Joe Scarborough just reported that this leopard is the sharpest, most cogent version of a mother leopard he's ever seen.) Panda just being a big sweet Apex predator (of leaves). Fur pile. Showing a blind dog that he can dig holes at the beach. A cat, for once in his jaded cat life, is impressed by something! Always take the time to share a little joy with a stranger. Mind the gap. Playing ball with a fox kit. Oh no! This poor little well-mannered frog is going to starve just because he's waiting for his turn!

Charismatic Boston Red Sox pitcher Luis "El Tiante" Tiant dies at age 83 at his home in Maine.
Known as “El Tiante,” Tiant was a two-time All-Star whose greatest individual season came in 1968, when he went 21-9 with 19 complete games and nine shutouts — four of them in a row. But it was his 1.60 ERA — the best in the AL in half a century — that, combined with Bob Gibson's 1.12 mark in the NL, helped convince baseball to lower the pitching mound to give batters more of a chance. The son of a Negro Leagues star, the younger Tiant was 229-172 in all with a 3.30 ERA and 2,416 strikeouts. He had 187 complete games and 47 shutouts in a 19-year career spent mostly with Cleveland and Boston. https://tinyurl.com/mk6nukr8 MLB @MLB We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Luis Tiant. In a Major League career that spanned 19 seasons, "El Tiante" made three All-Star teams and won 20 or more games four times. Tiant won two ERA titles in the American League - one in 1968 for Cleveland, and another in 1972 for Boston. The Cuba native also pitched for the Yankees, Twins, Pirates and Angels. He was 83. Another CIA special, I presume. How did this Afghan man get to America in the first place, and which agency sponsored and approved his entry? What a coincidence: the murderous Afghan who wanted to kill Trump voters in a mass shooting on Election Day in Oklahoma was admitted into the U.S. in 2021 on a special visa just weeks after the catastrophically managed Afghanistan withdrawal. I wrote and published this three weeks before the U.S. allowed into our country (on a special unvetted visa, of course) an Islamic terrorist who was planning a mass murder of heavily Republican Oklahoma voters on Election Day 2024. In August of 2021, I specifically warned that “people posing as refugees might be terrorists intent on killing Americans on U.S. soil.” And wouldn’t you know it, just three weeks later that exact warning became a reality, as an ISIS terrorist was admitted into our country who planned to massacre Americans on Election Day. If only the neocons had listened to the warning, instead of screaming that the person offering it was a racist. Then again, if they were remotely capable of acknowledging reality, I guess they wouldn’t be neocons. Posted by: andycanuck (CEzQx) at October 08, 2024 08:34 PM (CEzQx) 175

I want an apology from every fat, throne-sniffing, chicken-hawking, moral-blackmailing, family trust fund-depleting neocon moron who smeared me as a racist when I wrote this piece in 2021 after the fall of Afghanistan. A bunch of Americans were nearly mass murdered while voting by an Afghani visa charity case just so a bunch of alcoholic neocons could pat themselves on the back for being “compassionate” for refusing to vet hordes of third-world Afghanis being shipped into our country. The murderous ISIS terrorist who was let into this country in September of 2021 was here because of the moral cowardice of these neocons, because of their hatred of their own countrymen, because of their refusal to admit that their multi-decade obsession with sending better men to die for sport was an apocalyptic failure. This is one of my favorite Pulp songs. I need to explain his personality. He's a geeky guy who is always trying to get laid. Always. And he does this half-silly, half-serious attempt to pick up women. You know, when you try to pick them up so hard you might mean it as a joke (but it's not really a joke).
So that's the kind of song this is. That's why he's doing this breathy, "sexy" vocal. It's half of a joke, but if a woman wanted to go to bed with him for it, well, he won't stand in her way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0ZAdK-92Xo Posted by: ace at October 08, 2024 08:50 PM (KRtlO) 224

The cell towers lasted a few hours after the power went off that Friday morning. But then, once the battery backups on those went out, service degraded quickly. I could get no data at all, and text and voice degraded as well. They've get generator trucks in for some towers, but they can't do that for all of them. Cell service out here didn't improve until they got the power on one of the main lines running out here to get a nearby tower back online. If we're going to depend on these things, they need to make this system much more robust against power failure. And that will cost money, and need people who know what they're doing.
