- A new Chinese AI called DeepSeek V3 outperforms ChatGPT on standard tests while costing a small fraction of the price to train because - apparently - the developers stole the ChatGPT training data. (Tech Crunch)
The evidence for this is that the model is convinced it is ChatGPT."Obviously, the model is seeing raw responses from ChatGPT at some point, but it's not clear where that is," Mike Cook, a research fellow at King's College London specializing in AI, told TechCrunch. "It could be 'accidental'... but unfortunately, we have seen instances of people directly training their models on the outputs of other models to try and piggyback off their knowledge."
Training AIs on AI-generated data leads to insanity in as little as three generations. It can improve results on specific standard tests because it biases the AI very, very heavily towards those tests, throwing everything else out the window. After setting it on fire.Cook noted that the practice of training models on outputs from rival AI systems can be "very bad" for model quality, because it can lead to hallucinations and misleading answers like the above. "Like taking a photocopy of a photocopy, we lose more and more information and connection to reality," Cook said.

This is a story about how brokebrain #Resistance progressives are no longer watching propaganda channels CNN and MSNBC, because they feel burnt out, and they probably feel like those propaganda channels lied to them about the likely outcome of the election.
The propaganda organization AP decides to lie and claim "Americans" are tired of political news, despite Fox News's ratings increasing by 13%.Americans are exhausted by political news. TV ratings and a new AP-NORC poll show they're tuning outAll "Americans" huh, AP?
"People" are mentally exhausted, AP? Or just the people you think are worth mentioning?
NEW YORK (AP) -- As a Democrat who immersed himself in political news during the presidential campaign, Ziad Aunallah has much in common with many Americans since the election. He's tuned out. "People are mentally exhausted," said Aunallah, 45, of San Diego. "Everyone knows what is coming and we are just taking some time off."
Oh! You don't say.
Television ratings -- and now a new poll -- clearly illustrate the phenomenon. About two-thirds of American adults say they have recently felt the need to limit media consumption about politics and government because of overload, according to the survey from the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. Smaller percentages of Americans are limiting their intake of news about overseas conflicts, the economy or climate change, the poll says. Politics stand out. Election news on CNN and MSNBC was taking up too much of Sam Gude's time before the election, said the 47-year-old electrician from Lincoln, Nebraska. "The last thing I want to watch right now is the interregnum," said Gude, a Democrat and no fan of President-elect Donald Trump. Poll finds more Democrats than Republicans stepping away from news
Here now, the ratings crash:
The poll, conducted in early December, found that about 7 in 10 Democrats say they are stepping back from political news. The percentage isn't as high for Republicans, who have reason to celebrate Trump's victory. Still, about 6 in 10 Republicans say they've felt the need to take some time off too, and the share for independents is similar. The differences are far starker for the TV networks that have been consumed by political news.
AP admits, casually, that MSNBC's audience consists of little but "Trump haters," but apparently doesn't think AP itself has any bias.
After election night through Dec. 13, the prime-time viewership of MSNBC was an average of 620,000, down 54% from the pre-election audience this year, the Nielsen company said. For the same time comparison, CNN's average of 405,000 viewers was down 45%. At Fox News Channel, a favorite news network for Trump fans, the post-election average of 2.68 million viewers is up 13%, Nielsen said. Since the election, 72% of the people watching one of those three cable networks in the evening were watching Fox News, compared to 53% prior to election day.
Oh, both sides, huh? You mean "journalism" is more than a bunch of know-nothings shouting their uninformed opinions at a rapidly diminishing audience? Celebrities are over. So is the whole legacy media:
Some of the Americans who have turned away from political news lately also had some advice for getting them engaged again. Gude said, for example, that MSNBC will always have a hard-core audience of Trump haters. But if the network wants to expand its audience, "then you have to talk about issues, and you have to stop talking about Trump." Kathleen Kendrick, a 36-year-old sales rep from Grand Junction, Colorado, who's a registered independent voter, said she hears plenty of people loudly spouting off about their political opinions on the job. She wants more depth when she watches the news. Much of what she sees is one-sided and shallow, she said. "You get a story but only part of a story," Kendrick said. "It would be nice if you could get both sides, and more research."
Speaking of YouTube, WDW_Pro says that Megan Kelly's 109 million monthly views are greater than the monthly views of CNN or MSNBC. On YouTube, that is. Not the same as ratings but an important comparison. A new report says that two very detestable people detest each other. Good, I'm glad. I don't want to do all the work for them. Let these two talentless zeroes pitch in with some detestation.
The poll indicates that Americans want less talk about politics from public figures in general. After an election season where endorsements from celebrities like Taylor Swift made headlines, the survey found that Americans are more likely to disapprove than approve of celebrities, large companies and professional athletes speaking out about politics.
Still, Gude is among those discovering other ways to get news to which he does want to pay attention, including on YouTube.
ABC News legends David Muir and George Stephanopoulos secretly loathe one another and are mired in a 'historic' feud, it has been claimed.I'm sorry, did you call them "legends?" In what sense? Stephanopolous is a malignant dwarf and maybe stole a magic ring from Siegfried or something, but "legends"?
Bonus: Now that the government is about to pass into Republican hands, it's time for the media to discover the four-years-dormant homeless problem that is just happening right now, just this second.
The two newsmen have been known to have tension and now are barely seen on screen together as a result, as revealed by Oliver Darcy in a holiday edition of the Status newsletter. 'There certainly has been historic tension -- to put it lightly -- between the two anchors,' Darcy wrote in response to a question about the dynamic between Muir and Stephanopoulos. 'That has resulted in headaches for the network's bosses. But viewers may notice that, for the last few years, Stephanopoulos has been absent during politics-focused special coverage, such as Election Night. Those duties now fall squarely to David Muir.' ... The US Sun reported in September that as the anchors moved into a new studio in New York City, Stephanopoulos 'wanted a dressing room as big as rival David Muir's space.' 'George has been interested in making sure he gets whatever David Muir gets,' the insider told the outlet. ... That rivalry reportedly goes back to Muir's rise at the network and Stephanopoulos resistance to being replaced by a younger journalist. Back in 2021, Disney boss Bob Iger flew from California to New York to broker a deal with Stephanopoulos after he threatened to leave ABC because younger rival Muir had been promoted to Chief Anchor. Stephanopoulos was irate when Muir was given the responsibility of leading the network's special coverage of breaking news stories and special events - a role Stephanopoulos had held since 2014. ... When he found out that the Chief Anchor responsibilities were being handed over to Muir, 47, even though the title wasn't, he threatened to walk. ...
Muir was given the World News anchor job. He was considerably less experienced than Stephanopoulos at the time, so the Chief Anchor role went to the latter, as did the higher salary.

The National Archives has finally released photos showing then-Vice President Biden meeting with two of first son Hunter Biden's Chinese government-linked business partners -- again proving that the president lied about not interacting with his family's foreign patrons. The cache of photos, released long after their potential political salience and days before Biden retires on Jan. 20, also show Chinese President Xi Jinping grinning as then-Vice President Biden introduced his son during the same December 2013 trip to Beijing. The Xi-Hunter Biden encounter, which had not previously garnered much attention, appears to have been at a meal Hunter described in an email to his former associate Devon Archer as "pretty amazing" because his dad and China's powerful authoritarian leader "were supposed to spend 2hrs together [but it] stretched to 7hrs. I think they are in love." Xi was about two months into his ambitious "Belt and Road" foreign-influence and investment campaign -- and a Chinese state-backed company aligned with that vision, BHR Partners, was in the process being co-launched by Hunter.Trust the media "fact"-checkers, Bigots:
The video player is currently playing an ad. The newly released photos, which would have been politically explosive if they were released during the now-closed House impeachment inquiry into alleged Biden family corruption, show the elder Biden shaking hands with incoming BHR Partners CEO Jonathan Li and greeting the company's managing director Ming Xue.
Joe Biden later wrote college recommendation letters for both of Li's children and, according to Archer, greeted Li during a subsequent speaker-phone conversation when Hunter returned to Beijing. BHR Partners was officially registered as a company 12 days after Air Force Two landed in Beijing with the Biden family for that trip, the Wall Street Journal reported. The firm played an important role in foreign acquisitions for China, including the 2016 purchase of a Congolese cobalt mine from US and Canadian companies. Cobalt is used for electric car batteries. The troubled now-54-year-old first son held a 10% stake in BHR through at least part of his dad's presidency and says he relinquished control to his "sugar brother" Kevin Morris, who has loaned Hunter a sum believed to top $6.5 million since meeting him at a 2019 Biden campaign fundraiser. The photos were released to the America First Legal Foundation in response to a transparency lawsuit. "AFL obtained the photos through our lawsuit against the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), which was filed on September 8, 2022," the group led by President-elect Donald Trump's adviser Stephen Miller wrote on X. "NARA had planned to release these photographs on October 23, 2024 -- thirteen days before Election Day. Lawyers and representatives for President Biden and President Obama delayed NARA's release of these photos -- as they did with other critical records -- until after Election Day."

The final stage of KGB-stule demoralization is the overt humiliation of the disfavored classes so that they understand they are powerless and voiceless.
How does a man end up in a women's prison in California? Thanks to progressives in the state legislature, all it takes is for the man to declare himself a woman. Three years ago, Democrats enacted Senate Bill 132, also known as "The Transgender Respect, Agency and Dignity Act." As one prosecutor explains, the law requires no medical transition, no psychological evaluation, and no other medical assessment. What happens when this law gets put into effect in prisons? Pretty much what everyone would expect. Tremaine Carroll impregnated one fellow inmate after declaring himself a woman and then allegedly raped two other female inmates in prison. He faces trial now for those sexual assaults, but the Madera County judge ruled that everyone has to use Carroll's preferred "she/her" pronouns -- including his victims. Why? Because, the judge explained, Carroll "deserves dignity." Uh-huh.And the rape victims...? Do they deserve dignity? No, they don't.
Party of Women, y'all!Supervising Deputy District Attorney Eric Dutemple says it's also unfair to the victims. "Its just absolutely insane that a victim would have to get on the stand and police their pronoun usage when trying to recite one of the scariest times of their lives," said Dutemple. So it confuses the jurors and humiliates the victims, but at least the alleged rapist gets to have "dignity" by having everyone cooperate in his delusions. And that assumes that Carroll made his declaration in good faith, not as a means to target vulnerable women in state custody for serial sexual assaults. Got it.

Liz Cheney isn't a zero, she's a negative.
Remember when the Protection Racket Media swooned over Liz Cheney's endorsement of Kamala Harris? It turned out that they were the only ones swooning. Democrats became horrified to find themselves tied to the "neo-cons," while Republicans mainly scoffed. However, one particular demo that Harris and Joe Biden spent a year cultivating through an endless series of panders felt absolutely betrayed, NBC News reported yesterday. Let's just call it the Dearborn Demo:NBC does its best to obscure that fact by then pointing out that most of Dearborn voted "against Trump" in the sense that the majority of votes went to Harris and Jill Stein, but, as Ed Morrissey says, this is a very strange way to put it. Another way to put it is that while most of Dearborn voted "against Trump," an even larger "most" of Dearborn voted against Harris.
"There's been many ways in which Harris chose the path of Liz Cheney and the donor class on a range of issues, and abandoning working families in places like Dearborn, who make up the people Democrats claim to be fighting for," said Uncommitted National Movement co-founder Layla Elabed, a Palestinian American activist and the sister of Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich. "And I think at the same time, Trump came in and fed a community that was grieving and in despair with lies and false promises." Trump ultimately ended up carrying Dearborn, a majority Arab American city in Michigan, by more than 6 percentage points -- a massive swing from Biden's nearly 40 point win there in 2020.
The point that NBC buries until the second half of the article is that the Dearborn Demo turned out ... but turned out for Trump. Why? Trump actually showed up in Dearborn and talked to the Muslim leaders there, while Harris made them trek to Flint for an audience. She treated her precious Muslim voters with the same arrogance she treated Joe Rogan. And Call Her Daddy, for that matter. And actually she treated union voters the same way.
[New York Post:] .A union leader revealed that Vice President Kamala Harris stormed out of a meeting on the campaign trail, arrogantly telling him she didn't need his support because she'd "win with you or without you" -- just before her crushing loss to Donald Trump. ...O'Brien said Harris finally agreed to sit with the Teasmstars for a roundtable after President Biden dropped out of the race, just to only answer a quarter of their 16 questions. Other candidates, including Trump, answered them all. "On the fourth question, one of her operatives or one of her staff slips a note in front of me -- 'This will be the last question.' And it was 20 minutes earlier than the time it was going to end," O'Brien told Carlson. "And her declaration of the way out was, 'I'm going to win with you or without you,'' he recalled.

Behind Closed Doors: The Spy-World Scientists Who Argued Covid Was a Lab LeakThe first anecdote: The White House summoned the four "intelligence" agencies which claimed that there was a "low confidence" finding that covid had evolved naturally. The FBI, which had concluded with "moderate confidence" that the virus was created at the Wuhan lab, was pointedly not invited to brief the president or air its findings at the White House.
The idea that the pandemic's origins lie with a research facility in China was once labeled a conspiracy theory By Michael R. Gordon and Warren P. Strobel
I don't find that surprising at all. A cover-up of this size requires plausible deniability. You want to be able to say that the senile president heard no evidence that the virus was created by China. The scumbags in the government of course insist there was no problem whatsoever in not inviting the only dissident voices.
A car and driver had been readied to whisk Jason Bannan from FBI headquarters early one morning in August 2021 to brief the White House on a novel virus that was killing hundreds of thousands of Americans and had stopped the world in its tracks.
Bannan had been told by his superiors to be on hand in case the Federal Bureau of Investigation was asked to join a top intelligence community briefing for the president. But the White House summons never came. ... The dominant view within the intelligence community was clear when Avril Haines, the director of national intelligence, and a couple of her senior analysts, briefed Biden and his top aides on Aug. 24. The National Intelligence Council, a body of senior intelligence officers who reported to Haines and that organized the intelligence review, had concluded with "low confidence" that Covid-19 had emerged when the virus leapt from an animal to a human. So did four intelligence agencies.
Avril Haines, director of national intelligence, leaving the Capitol after a House briefing two years ago in Washington. At the time, the FBI was the only agency that concluded a lab leak was likely, a judgment it had rendered with "moderate confidence." But neither Bannan nor any other FBI officials were at the briefing to make their case first hand to the president. "Being the only agency that assessed that a laboratory origin was more likely, and the agency that expressed the highest level of confidence in its analysis of the source of the pandemic, we anticipated the FBI would be asked to attend the briefing," Bannan recalled in his first on-the-record interview on the subject. "I find it surprising that the White House didn't ask."
... But an investigation by The Wall Street Journal shows that the disagreements among intelligence experts over what should be included in the report ran deeper than is publicly known. Nor were the FBI scientists the only ones who believed that the intelligence directorate's review didn't tell the whole story. Three scientists at the National Center for Medical Intelligence, part of the Pentagon's Defense Intelligence Agency, conducted a scientific study that concluded that Covid-19 was manipulated in a laboratory in a risky research effort. But that analysis was at odds with the assessment of their parent agency, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and wasn't incorporated in the report presented to Biden. The DIA Inspector General launched an inquiry into whether this report was suppressed. You can't read the findings of that IG report, because they're being suppressed. Plot twist.
Read the whole thing. It's a criminal cover up and full-on conspiracy, and the conspiracy is going to be exposed during Trump's second presidency.
The DIA Inspector General's office opened an inquiry in the spring into whether the scientists' assessment was mishandled or suppressed, people familiar with the matter said. A spokesman for the agency declined to comment on whether this inquiry was continuing, had been completed and what it might have included. ... 'Off the reservation' As the FBI continued to push to ensure the lab theory was taken seriously, there were also debates at the Defense Intelligence Agency, which houses the main U.S. government organization dedicated to medical intelligence. The National Center for Medical Intelligence looks at health threats around the world that might endanger U.S. troops, such as infectious diseases and biological weapons. Three scientists there--John Hardham, Robert Cutlip and Jean-Paul Chretien--conducted a genomic analysis that concluded that the virus had been manipulated in a laboratory. Specifically they concluded that a segment of the "spike protein" that enables the virus to gain entry into human cells was constructed using techniques developed in the Wuhan lab that were described in a 2008 Chinese scientific paper. That was an indication, they argued, that the Chinese scientists were conducting "gain of function" research to see if the virus could infect humans. ... They briefed their counterparts, including one of Bannan's partners, an FBI agent with a Ph.D., on their initial findings. But in July 2021 they were instructed by a superior at the medical intelligence center not to continue sharing their work with the FBI, which they were told was "off the reservation," according to people familiar with the matter. That order was earlier reported by The Australian. Nor were all of their proposed edits to the National Intelligence Council report accepted. Hardham, Cutlip and Chretien also wrote an unclassified May 2020 paper that challenged the "proximal origin" assessment. They weren't allowed to circulate it outside of the medical intelligence center, but it leaked three years later and was entered into the record by Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R., Ohio) when he chaired a hearing on the pandemic for a House committee investigating the virus's origin.

Amidst all the recent chatter about the collapse in trust given to the legacy media, I haven’t seen the media’s Orwellian alteration of language listed as being one of the reasons. We’ve all laughed at “gender assigned at birth” and we’ve even mocked a few terms back out of use, such as “Latinx” but the corrupt media is unrelenting in its effort to eradicate certain truths and ideas by eliminating the necessary language to describe those concepts.
A couple of new additions to the euphemism treadmill that I saw this week were: FESTIVE LIVE TREES Whoever runs the Twitter account for News Channel 5 in Nashville (WTVF) apparently finds the word “Christmas” so offensive and triggering that a tweet regarding a story about Christmas tree recycling used the clumsy term “festive live trees” instead of Christmas trees.Trump has promised to conduct the largest deportation operation in American history, something that would upend the lives of the 11 million people living in the United States without authorization.I may need to start a new periodic series highlighting additions to the media’s euphemism treadmill. Remember how Democrats were outraged — Outraged! — that some Republicans objected to the counting of the Electoral College votes back in 2021 over concerns that voter fraud tipped the election results to Joe Biden in key battleground states? The very idea of disputing the election results was seen as blasphemy and anti-democratic. Yet the left is once again pushing for Congress to block Donald Trump from taking office, despite his overwhelming victory in 2024. Evan Davis, the former editor-in-chief of the Columbia Law Review, and David Schulte, the former editor-in-chief of the Yale Law Journal, argue in a joint column in The Hill that Congress not only has the power to block Trump from taking office but should. Their column doesn’t cover much new ground. It references Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which disqualifies individuals who have engaged in insurrection from holding office, despite the fact that Trump did no such thing. Heck, he hasn’t even been charged with such an offense, and when you consider the fact that rogue left-wing prosecutors have charged him with all sorts of made-up crimes, that says something. . . . Yet the left is once again pushing for Congress to block Donald Trump from taking office, despite his overwhelming victory in 2024. Funny how Trump and we are labeled as deniers, and a hell of a lot worse for objecting and protesting what we now know, with mountains of physical, statistical, forensic and eyewitness evidence that at the barest of bare minimums showed that the integrity and validity of the 2020 election was seriously compromised. Despite none of this in 2000,2004 and in 2016 each of the Democrat candidates as well as their entire party went on for years insisting that they were robbed and that Dubya and Trump were illegitimate. Recall that in 2016, there were indeed violent protests at and near the White House that resulted in the firebombing and destruction of an historic church. This of course an extension of the wave of burning and looting and murdering that ravaged American cities and towns in the summer of 2020, in the wake of the George Floyd dying while resisting arrest, again as a pretext to try and derail the election.
That and unleashing a Chi-Com and Fauci created/US Taxpayer funded Franken-virus as the pretext to lock down the world and cancel or otherwise give cover to legalized election-rigging.
And as for labeling Trump and those who came to DC on 1/6/21 as insurrectionists and terrorists intent on overthrowing the government to prevent the Electoral college from certifying the results, it will go down as one of the most vicious libels that resulted in the perversion of the justice system as a means for the Democrat Left to persecute and silence all opposition. We know what Democrats and Leftists are capable of when they are denied power. The attempts on Trump's life are just the latest example, as are the threats against individuals such as Justice Kavanaugh and the infamous Chuck Schumer's thinly veiled threat about how the Intel community has 9 ways to Sunday to get at Trump, and on and on and on for over 200 years. Can they actually pull this off and you can likely guess the media's reaction to both a successful coup and a failed one. We're on a knife edge as it is, but this garbage is murder. And yet, that is the state of play 248 years out from the American Revolution. A republic if we can keep it. And the jury is out on that one. Are we really going to make it to the 250th: "Semiquincentennial." Especially as even a shadow of what the American nation, society and government are supposed to resemble. As Trump himself would say, we'll just have to wait and see. As always, hope and pray for the best, but prepare for the worst.
Lastly, a quick shout-out and thank you for your continued support in hitting our tip jar. It truly is appreciated more than you can know. Have a great weekend!

- Browser extension Honey, which promises to save you money on everything you buy online, appears to be a scam. (Lifehacker)
Honey claims to find you the best available discount codes for whatever you wish to buy. It doesn't. Honey makes deals with merchants to control the discount codes it provides so that you don't get the best one. Sometimes it finds nothing at all even when valid coupons exist.
It also appears to change the affiliate cookie in your browser so that if you follow a recommendation, Honey gets the cut rather than the person who recommended the product. It does this whether it finds a coupon for you or not.
Honey also offers the buyer a bonus where you receive part of that affiliate deal. In the example in the video you receive 2.5% of the affiliate payout, while Honey gets 97.5%, and the actual affiliate receives nothing at all.
Honey was bought by PayPal in 2020 for $4 billion.

In the first clip, Rogers attends a formal Space Dance where everyone is doing staid Space Dance Moves.
