The Simple Life Cafe

petitfrancestrasbourg.jpg
Petit France, Strasbourg

Little Westie will protect you from the mean tyrannosaurus.

A big reach from a good boy.

Wait for me, I've got little legs!

She plays with such passion!

Serenading your donkeys.

More hide-and-seek with a golden dum-dum.

This seems like a pretty good life:

If you want to get rich, get into the farming grift:

But I just can't grok encouraging wild animals, especially something powerful like a bear that could kill ya if its in a bad mood or hungry to hang around your living area. we have a lot of black bears in PA and people are getting too cozy with them up in the Poconos and by our cabin in the endless mountains.

Amazon is researching on how Santa is able to traverse the Globe in a few hours, including hundreds of millions of stops.
RFK is trying to unearth the diet/metabolic trick of Santa, eating all those cookies and drinking all that milk but still remaining comparatively just plump.

This was answered a long time ago. Simple: Santa is a Time Lord and the sleigh is his Tardis. Has all the time in the world to visit all the good little Christian kids' houses and digest the unhealthy snacks.

Also, about the Flintstones celebrating Christmas, some commenters have it partially right. They are actually living in a post-apocalyptic future. The dinosaurs were escapees from Jurassic Park.

46 Black bears are the dorks of the bear world. I once watched two young ones pull a feather pillow out of the trash and beat it so hard it looked like it was snowing. They really enjoyed that, and so did we. Of course we kept our distance, but they bears could not have cared less that we were there. Rare to find a starving bear up here, unless they are ill, which is also rather rare. I expect Alaska is pretty good living if you are a bear. All those salmon.

I don’t believe he was drunk, strangely enough. Sure wish I could find a transcript, as his speech was entirely unremarkable and I don’t remember anything, I seem to recall he bitched about GHWB.

What I do remember, once he got to the lectern he pulled a Colt Peacemaker revolver with about a 9” barrel and laid it down. That was part of his schtick.

Episode 3. I want to save a bunch for my buddy. They ask a bunch of questions, not trivia, to a lot of Americans. Have 100 contestants. Each has $1000.

They ask questions 90% of Americans got right.
Then 80%, 70% down to 15%, 10%, 5% and the 1 percent.

It's logic, word, spatial reasoning puzzles.

I took a test at the computer company like this when I worked at the casino. White guy in a room full of Indians. The guy in charge said the test would tell them exactly how great a programmer you could be.

40 questions.

Very hot black girl came up to me shortly after grading. I was the only person they ever had that scored perfect.

Go white guy.

Still. Cool show. I do stop it to check my answers. I'm not the fastest. And I've had plenty of Christmas beer. But still.

I do get the 5% and 1% questions right. Sometimes after some thought, but still.

Yes, and the front wheel turned relative to the rear wheels. The Flintstone's car's wheels can't do that.

I'm not even sure what the steering wheel is there for, other than to have something for Fred to hold on to while he's walking the car forward or backwards.

I haven't watched it since I was a kid, but weren't there times where he made a U-turn by deadlifting the car and turning himself? Zero turning radius!

I keep a cast iron one on the woodstove. We haven't used the woodstove much this year. We haven't harvested our wood, and we moved in here in late October so we didn't have time. I suppose I could just buy some, but that doesn't really fit my energy budget. We heat with Toyos and heating oil, so it's dry. DH bought a humidifier for the interim. I hope we do better next year.

Posted by: Ciampino - why is that plant madder?

Actually, they're just homophones. Madder (the plant) and madder (more angry) have no etymology in common. The plant name goes all the way back to Proto-Indo-European. The emotion comes from a Proto-German word for "abnormal," which became a word for "out of your mind" in Old English.

It only gets you triaged earlier.

Something for everyone to remember: if you have volunteer EMS in your community, your ambulance transport is free of charge. However, if you have a paid emergency service in your town, your transport will only be covered if your insurance determines that your illness or injury required ambulance transport. In other words, with paid service, don't call an ambulance if you break your arm or sprain your ankle--it will cost you an arm and a leg.

He is awesome though. We were going to the oldest son's house to have Christmas with our four grandchildren but we couldn't go. He was really bummed because he didn't get to wear his ugly Christmas sweater, lol. I told him the season isn't over, so he will be able to wear his sweater.

We're in SW Wyoming. We have to go to Utah to the main hospital. We looked into helicopter insurance but we aren't covered here. We can't imagine how much it will cost to get almost 2 hours to Utah.

Yes. I went from ambulance to an ER examination table. Seen right away. After a couple of hours of tests, etc. I was admitted. Stent insert eventually. Previous time, chest pains, daughter drove me, ER, seen right away and admitted fairly quickly.

156 First time with the ambulance?
How is he?
Posted by: Stateless
--------

First time we've had them take him in, instead of just helping him into my car. (fire dept. EMS)

He's... okay. He fell in the middle of the night, on the way to bathroom. I was asleep & unaware until morning. No blood, but he was talking funny & confused.

Nothing broken & they did head CT-- "not stroke"-- plus some arrhythmia (which had started earlier this year).

We're sure now it's due to his liver disease. Hepatic encephalopathy. Lots of lactulose & diapers & heartache.

Wait and see, if he recovers his mind. He knows who & where he is, and who I am. Irrational thinking and confusion rule his days.

On a different note, I'm really in to Pillsbury's Crescent Roll Sheet.

I've made it with sausage and cheese, ham egg and cheese. Today I used a can of apple pie filling, which I doctored up with vanilla, allspice and brown sugar.

There are many ways to use it.

168 I will never discourage folks from seeking medical care. You do what you feel is right for you, your spouse, your family and your lifestyle. Think about what you want for your 70s and 80s and 90s. Independence? Supported living? With your kids or in a facility? Are you ok sitting in a chair looking out the window? How about mere existence?

It's tough. But, at the end of the day, it's up to you.

Not on the roll sheet, but on the pie filling...when you have a jar of fruit pie filling and you want to make pie or something similar, add equal amounts of fresh fruit and more seasoning (and a touch of starch depending on the fruit), but no more sugar. You won't miss it, you'll get varying textures of the fruit (and enough of the fruit), and you'll impress folks who won't realize you just used an Aldi's or Trader Joe's jar as the base, ala Sandra Lee (who had a nice "semi-homemade" concept, except she had no idea how to execute it b/c she couldn't cook)...

Hubs was diagnosed with End Stage Liver Disease, early 2021. We were told he had "maybe 3-6 months, probably less" back then. "Get your affairs in order." said the doctor...

It's a miracle (according to ALL of his Dr's) that he's survived this long. And was doing well enough, really, until just a couple weeks ago. BAM!.

His kidney function is down, too. And to be honest, he's been losing ground mentally --ever so slowly-- for months.

Nurse,

Husband and I have had THE conversation many times. We are elderly and don't want any care which will be long term. We differ from many other people, but we aren't going to burden our family if there is no hope.
