Buck Rogers Disco Open Thread

Unfortunately I can't find the full clip.

In the first clip, Rogers attends a formal Space Dance where everyone is doing staid Space Dance Moves.

Rogers doesn't like this stiff choreography, so he goes over to the band and teaches them how to "play something funky."

The next clip shows Rogers getting funky to this disco music he just willed into being.

In a different episode (I think), Rogers enjoyed some roller disco.

It's amazing how the 25th Century was so culturally identical to 1979!

I know you all want to add Buck's composition, "Something Kinda Funky," to your playlists, so here it is.

16 Some Senator (maybe Ted Cruz?) should make it a point to ask, every day they're in session: "What happened to the drones, and when will our government tell the American public what that was all about?"

I think it's obvious at this point it was played as some kind of distraction, or false flag --i.e. anything but a necessary and logical action, but some variation of a psy op.

But it disturbs me that this one, among many, will just go down the memory hole as some vague, non-event. If our Deep State overlords continue to pull this kind of shit, I think they need to have their noses rubbed in it until even the lowest information Normie gets red pilled.

I remember in the 1990s seeing someone whom I thought was incredibly fat, morbidly obese. It was shocking.

Now, it's so common as to be unremarkable.

Some years ago "Jaws" was on, and I paused it at the beach scene for my kids and told them to look closely. They squinted at the screen, thinking the shark was visible.

"No, look at the kids. You can count their ribs. Do your classmates look like that?" Middle kid was bullied for being too skinny.

I hate to say it, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn this is under federal law enforcement. They're doing last minute field tests because they are probably assuming the entire program gets shut down with the new administration. It's likely a surveillance project that (unfortunately) would be perfectly legal since private property does not extend into the airspace. And expected privacy has been negated by an Arizona case on this very issue. What will be interesting to see (if it is an FBI project) is where the funds came from and who authorized it. Drones today can be equipped with intricate listening devices as well as different camera bands making it a very highly effective surveillance apparatus.
And, think about it. Do you think your government wants to tell you what they are doing on privacy matters?

That the drones were only observable at night is one tell. I postulated they were being operated as part of a information gathering operation... a prototype perhaps. Armed with devices to scarf up data from any and all wireless (and some wired) devices such as phones, computers, security systems, card readers, vehicles equipped with connectivity features like OnStar and so on.

Warrantless searches that leave no evidence and can be conducted over wide areas with little opposition.

87 This just goes to prove that the zenith of American culture was a 20 year period from 1975 to 1995, it's been a precipitous downward slog ever since.

It certainly didn't seem like it at the time. The 70s in general were thought to be the nadir of America, and the precipice of her downfall.

We've known from the beginning that Biden was compromised by a number of foreign countries...not the least of which is China. There is no excuse for allowing the Chinese balloon free reign and try to explain it away as a "safety issue." It could have been safely removed from the sky upon notice. It transversed at 60,000 feet. Raptors and F-15 Eagles are cleared for 65,000 feet.

181 I used to track the cars in Chips as a teen..first they would get passed in the chase, next week a fenderbender, the week after the launch and crash usually. And don't ALL youngish motorcycle copa know how to deactivate advanced robotic medical machinery? What's unrealistic about that? Back then I thought Cindy Williams was very hot. Guess she was incredibly difficult in real life, luckily that is completely irrelevant as I wasn't going to be dating her anyway

One of the best parts of the quality writing for these shows was that they had so many great side characters. In Rockford, Angel was one of the funniest characters in detective show history! The episode where Angel becomes a televangelist made me laugh til tears came!

I recall that Selleck was actually cast for the role, but couldn't get out of his contract for Magnum PI. Then there was the TV writer's strike. So Selleck could have taken the Indiana Jones role and fulfilled his contract for Magnum. His career would have turned out much differently.

214 a fun fact about the Houthi just came out - apparently the Houthi have been holding the UN staff there hostage for a number of months, but the UN has been keeping this quiet for political reasons. So the head of the WHO just traveled to Yemen to try and negotiate their release.

Israel just bombed the airport in Sanaa *while* the head of the WHO was in it - think that may have had something to do with them not liking the way this story has been kept so secret?
and by the way, they missed him. Too bad.

Rockford was the best. Always 1 step ahead of the debt collectors. Always solving crimes and hardly ever getting paid for one reason or the other. The base model Pontiac Firebird. Living in a trailer at the beach. His sarcasm. His dirtbag friend Angel. The gritty 70's LA was still round to see. The these song. It was such a perfect show.
