The man that Schumer and Biden rushed into an 11th hour appointment to head the "Office of Government Ethics" is doing the job he was hired to do:
President-elect Trump's cabinet nominees are facing repeated delays in Senate confirmation hearings, with some conservatives accusing bureaucrats of slow-walking the process to obstruct his administration. Key Details: South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem's confirmation hearing for Department of Homeland Security Secretary was postponed due to an FBI background check delay. Former North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum's hearing for Interior Secretary faced a two-day postponement, attributed to the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) paperwork delays. Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) criticized OGE for stalling Burgum's nomination despite rule compliance, calling the delays "unacceptable." Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard's (Hawaii) hearing for intelligence chief is delayed until next week, also due to OGE paperwork issues. ...
The Office of Government Ethics has also been blamed for holding up the hearing for former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, Trump's nominee to lead U.S. intelligence agencies. Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) stated Sunday that Gabbard's paperwork issues could delay her hearing until the following week. Critics argue that these delays represent more than simple administrative slowdowns. With the OGE noting that previous presidential transitions began submitting paperwork earlier, some conservatives see a coordinated effort to stall Trump's agenda. The term "deep state" has been invoked to describe unelected bureaucrats purportedly resisting Trump's policies. For Trump's supporters, the repeated hurdles underscore their belief that Washington's entrenched systems are actively working against the president-elect. Whether by accident or design, these delays risk hampering Trump's ability to quickly implement his agenda once in office.

Israel and Hamas have reached an agreement on a multiphase ceasefire that commits them to end the war in Gaza, President Biden and Qatar's prime minister announced separately on Wednesday. "This deal will halt the fighting in Gaza, surge much needed-humanitarian assistance to Palestinian civilians, and reunite the hostages with their families after more than 15 months in captivity," Biden said. He said it was the same as a proposal he made in May 2024, which was endorsed by the United Nations Security Council.A French account I follow, @lauhaim, says the terms are the following. I don't know where he's getting this, but the number seem to check out.
Sponsor Message Neither Israel nor Hamas immediately confirmed the deal, but officials close to the negotiations told NPR that both sides have reached a tentative ceasefire intended to end more than 15 months of the heaviest fighting ever between the two sides. The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said there remained "several unresolved points," but hoped "the details will be finalized tonight." The deal comes after weeks of intensive rounds of indirect negotiations in the Qatari capital Doha between Israel and Hamas, mediated by facilitators from the U.S., Egypt and Qatar. In an unusual twist, envoys from both President Biden's administration and President-elect Donald Trump's team were also there, pressuring the sides to close a deal.
To begin tomorrow:I think that's wrong right off the bat. NPR says it starts Sunday. But then, NPR is more likely to be wrong, I guess.
Six weeks of ceasefire. A progressive withdrawal by the Israeli army from the Gaza strip Six hundred humanitarian trucks will enter the Gaza strip Hamas will liberate 33 Israeli hostages. Here's why I think this guy's post is mostly accurate: He explains why 1,300 Palestinian terrorists are being liberated, as far as how the number was arrived at.
Israel will free 30 Palestinian (terrorist) prisoner in exchange for each civilian released and 50 for each Israeli soldier releasedI think I read that 23 hostages will be released alive. The other ten hostages being "released" are corpses. Trump gets a lot of the credit, or the blame, for this deal, depending on how you view it.
Scott Jennings
@ScottJenningsKY Bottom line: without Trump winning and being absolutely clear in his "hell to pay" rhetoric, there would be no hostage deal today between Israel & Hamas. Thank God we are getting our people back. Elections have consequences. Posted by: redridinghood

This Claim Was Made WITHOUT EVIDENCE, and a Fact-Check Shows He's a Liar.
I mentioned this yesterday but I didn't say where he'd made this statement -- he claimed to not pay attention to ratings in his sworn deposition for the billion-dollar defamation trial. Plaintiff's council was trying to establish (I assume) that Jake Tapper was motivated to sensationalize and even fictionalize stories in order to raise his pathetically-low ratings, prompting Tapper to lie like the Devil and claim that couldn't possibly be a motivation, because he just don't care nothin' 'bout no Nielsen ratings.
A review of his, get this, Twitter history shows he pays a lot of attention to them.A question I have is whether this impeachment evidence will come in to show that Jake Tapper is a lying, perjurious worm. I don't know if he's scheduled to testify. Certainly if he does testify, this can be presented against him, whether or not he repeats the lie. (If he doesn't repeat the lie, the plaintiff lawyers will re-play his videotaped deposition and ask him about it.)
"Mr. Tapper, can you give an overview of viewership numbers for your show 'The Lead?'" Young's attorney is heard off-camera asking in the recorded November 2024 exchange. "I cannot," Tapper responded. "You have no idea how many people watch 'The Lead' on an average basis?" the attorney followed. "I do not pay attention to ratings," Tapper replied. After attorney Vel Freedman asked Tapper to define what he meant by "ratings," Tapper responded by explaining how Nielsen ratings metrics are how shows, networks and advertisers "determine how many people are watching the show at any given moment." "And I do not pay attention to the Nielsen ratings. So, yeah," Tapper added. Fox News Digital has found more than a dozen examples of social media posts showing Tapper either touting his show's ratings or highlighting others, contradicting and undermining his own sworn testimony. "Ratings go up and ratings go down, but UNITED STATES OF SCANDAL had the highest ratings in the key demo in cable news on Sunday ... and was the most watched show on CNN! Thank you so much for watching!" Tapper wrote on X about his CNN special in March 2024, roughly eight months before stating under oath he doesn't care about ratings. He also touted its ratings the month prior. In fact, Tapper has repeatedly used the same "ratings go up and down" language in August 2018, April 2021 and February 2024. In January 2015, Tapper shared a Washington Examiner article with the headline "CNN's Tapper on ratings win streak, jumps viewers 75%" "Thank you so so much for watching #TheLead, folks! My team and I work hard and I'm humbled that you're watching," Tapper wrote in reaction to the article. ... It's not only his own show's ratings he's monitored. He's put the spotlight on the viewership on a wide range of programs from the CNBC GOP primary debate in 2015, a speech then-President Trump gave in 2017, even "Sharknado 2." In January 2017, Tapper took a swipe on-air at Trump for denying his "Apprentice" ratings decline. ... Tapper shared a link to his on-air report on X, writing "What 'The Apprentice' and ratings can teach us about Trump." Neither Tapper nor CNN responded to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

She's very confrontational. I assume this means she knows she's a lock.
Democrats demand, over and over, for a guarantee that she will prosecute no Democrats at all during her term. They want a guarantee of total immunity for their crimes. She keeps refusing to give it to them. She should make it explicit that they're demanding AG-granted pardons in advance of confirming her, and that the AG doesn't have the power to issue pardons and that she wouldn't issue blanket pardons to an entire political party even if she did. Particularly given that the Democrats have unleashed total nuclear lawfare on all of their opponents! Via AndyCanuck, Matt Margolis writes that she shut down Dick Durbin's Frequently Asserted Propaganda:Pam Bondi Gloriously Outsmarted Dick Durbin
Matt Margolis | 11:58 AM on January 15, 2025 https://tinyurl.com/ybhzyxym He even brought up the 2020 election as an example, and Bondi blindsided him by pointing out his deception. "He said to the Georgia secretary of state, find 11,780 votes," Durbin told her. "Do you have the entire context of that call?" Bondi asked. "I feel like it was long -- much longer than that, and may have been taken out of context." "It was an hour long," Durbin admitted. "Right," Bondi replied. Bondi's point pans out because reading the transcript of the call proves that Trump's words show he was actually arguing that a thorough investigation would reveal evidence of fraudulent votes that altered the outcome of the election, not that he was directly asking Raffensperger to "find" 11,780 votes for him. Trump was emphasizing his belief that the election was marred by irregularities, and he insisted that uncovering these discrepancies would restore the rightful results with his victory in Georgia. The request for "11,780 votes" was a response to the reports of fraudulent activities, not a demand to fabricate votes.

Marco Rubio is Trump's nominee for Secretary of State, and his opening statement at his Senate hearing shows he's breaking from the dangerous and demoralizing commitment to advancing other countries' interests ahead of our own that has been the post-war consensus for 60 years.
Oof. Tell me how you really feel, Mario.
Jerry Dunleavy IV
@JerryDunleavy The opening statement given by Secretary of State nominee Marco Rubio just now eviscerates decades of failed U.S. foreign policy: "Out of the triumphalism of the end of the long Cold War emerged a bipartisan consensus, and this consensus was that we had reached 'the end of history.' That all the nations of earth would become members of the democratic Western-led community. That a foreign policy that served the national interest could now be replaced by one that served the 'liberal world order.' And that all mankind was now destined to abandon national sovereignty and national identity, and we would become 'one human family' and 'citizens of the world.' This wasn't just a fantasy -- we now know it was a dangerous delusion. Here in America, and in many of the advanced economies across the world, an almost religious commitment to free and unfettered trade at the expense of our national economy shrunk the middle class, left the working class in crisis, collapsed our industrial capacity, and has pushed critical supply chains into the hands of adversaries and of rivals. An irrational zeal for maximum freedom of movement of people has resulted in a historic mass migration crisis here in America but also around the world -- it's one that threatens the stability of societies and governments. Across the West, governments now censor and even prosecute domestic political opponents. Meanwhile radical jihadists openly march in the streets and sadly drive vehicles into our people.
He also announced the Ukraine War "must end."
While America far too often prioritized the 'global order' above our core national interests, other nations continued to act the way countries always have and always will -- in what they perceive to be in their best interest. And instead of folding into the post-Cold War global order, they have manipulated it to serve their interests at the expense of ours. We welcomed the Chinese Communist Party into the global order, and they took advantage of all its benefits, and they ignored all its obligations and responsibilities. Instead, they have repressed, and lied, and cheated, and hacked, and stolen their way to global superpower status, and they have done so at our expense and at the expense of their own country. In our very own hemisphere, despots and narco-terrorists take advantage of open borders to drive mass migration, to traffic women and children, and to flood our communities with fentanyl and violent criminals. In Moscow, Tehran, and Pyongyang, dictators -- rogue states -- now sow chaos and instability and align with and they fund radical terror groups, and then hide behind their veto power at the United Nations Security Council and the threat of nuclear war. The postwar global order is not just obsolete -- it is now a weapon being used against us. And all this has led to a moment in which we must now confront the single greatest risk of geopolitical instability and of generational global crisis in the lifetime of anyone alive today."
Charlie KirkA country can't survive without young men. With so many of Ukraine's dead, there's an obvious answer where the country will get its new young men from, and it's not a great answer. He also warned against America's insane drive to turn over all of our manufacturing, including of critical drugs and drug precursors, to the Communist Chinese government and would-be Empire.
@charliekirk11 Marco Rubio's answer on Ukraine is pitch perfect. First, he makes clear that America's border security MUST come first, before any funding goes to far-off battlefields. Second, he affirms President Trump's demand that the "killing must stop" and calls for an end to the war and an immediate ceasefire. Third, he's honest: He acknowledges that funding another war "as long as it takes" is not realistic, and any end to the war must be a negotiated compromise. Otherwise, Ukraine will be destroyed from the loss of every last young man in the country. This is the way. End the war.
Eric Daugherty
@EricLDaugh Secretary of State nominee Marco Rubio just issued a grave warning for America. Listen intently. He's right, and we need to act. "If we stay on the road we are on right now - in less than 10 years, virtually everything that matters to us in life will depend on whether China allows us to have it or not." "Everything from blood pressure medicine to what movies we get to watch, and everything in between. They dominate the critical mineral industry. Even those who want more EVs - those batteries depend on China." "If we don't change course - we will live in a world where much of what matters on a daily basis, from our security to our health - will be dependent on whether the Chinese allow us to have it or not."

Good afternoon, everybody! I hope everyone is well on this very sunny but very cold Wednesday.
Let me start with an easy one because there's so much going on right now I'm a little overwhelmed and not sure where to start. Over in the Islamic Colonies of Europe, the Counter-Reconquista is proceeding apace. It's just so perfect.
A Paris theater known for its progressive agenda is facing potential bankruptcy after over 250 migrant youths occupied the venue in December, demanding housing, health, and education. The occupation, which began following an event promoting tolerance, has led to worsening sanitary conditions and forced the theater to cancel all scheduled events. Key Details: The Gaîté Lyrique theater was overtaken by migrant youths following a December 10th event focused on tolerance and migrant support. The group has since grown to approximately 300 occupants. The theater's management issued statements condemning the lack of action from city and state officials, highlighting unsanitary conditions and concerns for their staff's safety. The theater, owned by the Paris council, has canceled events until at least January 24th, citing financial strain from the ongoing occupation. Diving Deeper: The Gaîté Lyrique theater in Paris, a venue renowned for hosting radical and progressive programming, reportedly finds itself in dire financial straits after migrant youths occupied the premises last month. The takeover began on December 10th during an event organized to promote tolerance toward migrants, with activists reportedly directing the youths to the theater. Précieux, a self-identified 16-year-old Congolese migrant, summed up the group's stance, stating, "We are here to claim our right to housing, health, and education," as reported by French outlet RFI. Since then, the number of migrants occupying the space has surged, further complicating the theater's operations. The Gaîté Lyrique issued multiple statements lamenting the forced nature of the occupation while also sympathizing with the migrants' plight.

The "Resistance" types are not going away, and are not going to be quitting on day 1. They're dug in like ticks and will do exactly what they did last time. ... I expect little to no progress in Justice, State, Treasury, EPA or any of those agencies comprising the IC.It's far too early to say "I was right" but Jack Smith is trying to make it easy on me. (Pseudo) Special Council Jack Smith, who was looking into Trump's "insurrection" for years for the Party men at Justice, has concluded in his report that he was in fact totally right and the only reason Trump is going to walk away from his egregious crimes is because he happened to get re-elected. It's your fault that justice is not done, not his. His case was airtight, you know. It's just that you rubes had to go re-elect the worst of all men to office.

So, that's roughly 130 million + 25 in just over 100 years. But who's counting. Funny how in their unquenchable lust for absolute power via the insane notion of changing human nature, for our own good (allegedly), the wretch-inducing expression "If it saves just one life" sprang into being, what ever any liberty-destroying edict, law or EO is proposed. The bitter irony is of course that if creating paradise on earth results in eradicating a few dozen or a few million lives, in their eyes it would've been worth it. Or as Leftist icon and hero Joseph Stalin once said, the death of one is a tragedy, but the death of a million is a statistic. No one ever asked if a million deaths one by one over time is a million tragedies or if a million are wiped out all at once is the statistic. Of course, anyone daring to ask him that would become an instant tragedy via sudden lead poisoning to the back of the neck on the steps to the basement of the Lubyanka or as part of the retaining wall somewhere along the path of the White Sea Canal. While firefighters continue to battle to get the fires under control against steady strong winds, and of course the aftermath, clean up and debate of how to rebuild, other stories are making news this morning. With just a week before Donald Trump is sworn in, Thank God, confirmation hearings for his cabinet appointees have begun, and yesterday's attempt to slime, smear and destroy his nominee for Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth turned into an abject shotshow for the Democrats, led mostly by the coven of hectoring, hysterical, halitosis emitting desiccated diseased unguent-deprived uteruses and their clattering dentures. Primarily fake Injun Elizabeth Warren and Maizie Hirohito, warped, evil, progeny of an Hawaiian child prostitute pimp mother. Compare and contrast them with the exemplary record as an American Patriot and human being of Pete Hegseth. That contrast alone is illustrative of just how far we have fallen as a nation and society. When scum of the earth harridans and criminal liar Democrats But I repeat, repeat, repeat myself manage to be elected and get to sit in judgement of such an exemplary American, it makes the blood boil. And yet, Hegseth and Markwayne Mullin ripped them all to shreds. It was glorious to see. First Hegseth:
“The Defense Department under Donald Trump will achieve Peace Through Strength. And in pursuing these America First national security goals, we will remain patriotically a-political and stridently Constitutional,” Hegseth said. “Unlike the current administration, politics should play no part in military matters. We are not Republicans or Democrats — we are American warriors. Our standards will be high, and they will be equal (not equitable, that is a very different word).” Since coming to power nearly four years ago, the Biden-Harris Pentagon has made implementing neo-Marxist ideologies such as “diversity, equity, and inclusion” (DEI) a top priority. These policies have undermined military readiness and contributed to the service’s ongoing recruiting crisis. Hegseth stressed that the Defense Department must “make sure every warrior is fully qualified on their assigned weapon system, every pilot is fully qualified and current on the aircraft they are flying, and every general or flag officer is selected for leadership based purely on performance, readiness, and merit.” He further noted how, “Leaders — at all levels — will be held accountable,” and that “warfighting and lethality — and the readiness of the troops and their families — will be our only focus.”Now Mullin:
. . . perhaps the most forceful part of Mullin’s rant came when he turned the tables, questioning the behavior of many senators. “How many senators have showed up drunk to vote at night?” he asked. “Have any of you guys asked them to step down and resign from their job? And don't tell me you haven't seen it, because I know you have.” Mullin was far from done. “And then how many senators do you know have got a divorce for cheating on their wives? Did you ask them to step down?" he asked. "No, but it's for show.” Mullin’s statement underscored the disconnect between the sanctimonious standards some senators set for others and the tolerance they exhibited for their own flaws. “You guys make sure you make a big show and point out the hypocrisy because a man’s made a mistake and you want to sit there and say that he’s not qualified? Give me a joke,” he said, exposing how political theater often overshadowed actual qualifications and character.Left unsaid was Mullin giving the Dems the bird and telling them to go fuck themselves in the heart with a rusty steak knife, but still. Shifting back to Hegseth's comments about preparedness and capability, juxtapose that with the causes of the incineration of Los Angeles and you can see how crucial it is for us to have an Army (Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard manned top to bottom with Pete Hegseths. And not divisions of junk-tuckers and Lesbians named Kristin. And just the opposite for the Democrats and our enemies abroad).
And speaking on that, the other big story bubbling up is a potential ceasefire deal between Israel and the Hamas terrorists that evidently is being brokered by Trump and Biden that would have the Israelis release Hamas terrorists in exchange for Israeli hostages, alive and/or their corpses. With mere days to go before he takes control, I cannot for the life of me see any advantage to Trump forcing a hostages for terrorists deal on Israel. It has proven time and again to be tragically shortsighted and provocative, as well as at least to me counterintuitive to Trump and his advisers' mindsets with regard to Israel. What can he possibly be thinking, unless there is something going on behind the scenes that would give Israel a green light to do whatever it feels it must, like turning Gaza into Pacific Palisades on the Med.
Instead of crafting its own foreign policy, the Trump administration is being stuck with Biden’s policy of pandering to Islamic terrorists. And that’s a disaster not only for Israel. but for America. After the initial euphoria of freeing a few hostages, the Trump administration will be stuck managing Gaza, it will be stuck funding the mess, pressuring Israel not to go after terrorists and when the thousands of freed Hamas terrorists kill Americans, the Trump administration will be blamed. The smart play was to let Israel win the war without getting involved. The dumb play was [Trump advisor and negotiator Steve] Witkoff doing whatever Blinken told him to do.
One lousy week. One miserable fucking week, and Trump couldn't wait?! Yes, that after 14 nightmarish months in captivity these poor people should spend even one additional nanosecond in the clutches of these subhuman barbarian fiends is a crime against humanity. But to allow a single Hamas prisoner to go free, in exchange is an even greater crime that desecrates the grave and memory of every single victim of Islamic terrorism (apology for the redundancy) going back to Munich and frankly, considering what Islam is and its history, going back to Mohammed Pig-Piss-Be-Upon-him. to be fair to Trump, considering the ferocity and length of the combined Hamas/Hezbollah/Houthi/Iran assault on Israel, as well as the scummy duplicity and deviltry of the Israeli Left, Bibi's willingness to cave on this in that light is understandable, if certainly not excusable (IMHO despite my being Jewish though not a citizen of Israel, so they have to sort that out). I mean every terrorist for innocent Israeli hostage trade in the past has led to nothing but later rinse repeat, bigger and bloodier than ever. If 10/7 did not teach that lesson, what the hell will, Bibi? Trump?
Psircling back to the Los Angeles fires and the chicken and egg of ideology and competency, as well as the notion of an out of control bureaucracy running our lives, I give you a fascinating essay from noted Libertarian John Stossel and his debate with Michael Malice on the nature of governmental control in the guise of protecting us, via the bureaucracy:
. . . podcaster Michael Malice, in my new video, says not to worry, "We have so much further to go before we're lost as a country." Malice knows the damage real tyrants do. He's spent time in North Korea, and he was born in the Soviet Union. He detests political "leaders," saying the best political system is anarchism: self-government without a central authority, or, as the AI on my computer defines it: "a self-managed, stateless society based on voluntary cooperation and mutual aid." Malice and I debate that. I'm no anarchist. I'm a libertarian. I believe we should be allowed to act as we wish, so long as we don't hurt others. I accept the need for limited government, one that adjudicates disputes, enforces pollution control, and funds police and a military to keep us safe. Malice says it's wrong to think that way, because all central government is a problem. "Security is like anything else," he argues. "Should the government be producing books? ... No. Producing helicopters? ... No ... a government monopoly makes no sense. But somehow when it comes to security, you're OK with this. And then you live in New York and wonder why it ends up being the way it is."It pairs up nicely with another good essay from Bruce Thornton of Frontpage Mag:
Thanks to over a century of progressive technocratic expansion through the metastasizing of federal agencies, their imperious regulatory regime has spread ever more widely, one that as Tocqueville prophesized “covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and most energetic characters can penetrate.” The purpose is “to keep them [citizens] in perpetual childhood.”
. . . Regulatory hypertrophy began with the multiplication of laws. Progressivism, believing that credentialed “experts” are better at governing people than the people themselves, started increasing federal laws to fix “problems” or “crises” that states, counties, and cities––closer to their people’s circumstance, mores, and problems––were better placed to deal with. Yet firm believers in not letting “a good crises go to waste,” progressives began manufacturing crises, then passing laws and creating agencies tasked with managing those problems. .
And remember, the regulatory state is there not to protect you, but control you. Hence the mythological dangers of global warming and Carbon dioxide, etc. All as pretext to snatch and grab whole sectors of the economy and in essence deny you the freedom to choose how you want to live in service to the demonic desire of the Left and their apparatchiks to lord over you. Instead of protecting you from real dangers from criminals, foreign and domestic, terrorists ditto and ditto. If setting a sleeping woman on fire in a NYC subway, allowing whole business districts to be looted and destroyed as a legitimate reaction to mythical white supremacy, and an entire city to be burned to the ground because having lesbians and blacks running the city is more important than actual competency and ability, and that doing what needed to be done would fly in the face of global warming and racism dogma as the real dangers, when in point of fact they are the weapons/cassus belli with which bureaucracy controls the citizenry -- if all that is not a cold shot of reality, then nothing will be. Have a great day. And lastly, a quick shout-out and thank you for your continued support in hitting our tip jar. It truly is appreciated more than you can know.

One big change they're looking at:
Many Californians don't have home insurance. They don't have it because the communist government of California banned insurance companies from raising rates commensurate with the major risk of fire (caused by the California government itself), so insurers simply stopped doing business in the state. California's government said that the state would insure these uninsured homes -- but they don't have anywhere near the money to cover the massive losses they've caused. So they want the rest of us to pay for their folly. As usual. California will now be demanding that the citizens of the non-communist states pay for the costs of their communism. They need to be told that communists can pay for themselves with all their magical communist money. As wildfires rage in California, Republicans in Washington have begun discussing whether to condition federal aid on changes to policies they blame for the blazes. "It's part of the discussion right now," Rep. Scott Fitzgerald, R-Wis., told Fox News Digital. "People are unwilling to just stroke a check for something that, quite honestly, they still have a lot of questions. And obviously, the fires are still burning, so we don't even know what the total is going to be at the end of the day." The Los Angeles area has been grappling with multiple deadly wildfires in recent days, with nearly 100,000 Californians under evacuation orders. Officials are far from knowing what the final damage estimates will be, as well as how much additional funding will need to be approved by Congress. But a broad cross-section of Republicans are already blaming the Democratic stronghold state's policies and management for exacerbating the issue. "I think there's going to be a lot of questions raised about it, but we also want to work cooperatively with, you know, everybody on both sides of the aisle," House Appropriations Chairman Tom Cole, R-Okla., said when asked about conditioning aid. "But I think that's just the reality. There's gonna be some questions we'll be asking." Rep. Mike Flood, R-Neb., chairman of the House Financial Services Committee's subcommittee on housing and insurance, said it was too early to be discussing possible specific conditions but criticized California's home insurance policies. "I think there's real issues... For far too long, California state laws have been pushing out insurers from that state, making it even harder to get home insurance," Flood told Fox News Digital. "I think California's got to do a couple of things. They have to demonstrate that they are going to create an environment where home insurance, housing insurance, is reflected in the risk, that they understand the risk, and they are pricing accordingly. And then, as it relates to forestry management, I think there's a lot of members of Congress who will wanna say, 'How did this happen? What kind of policies led to this?'" Meanwhile, members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, who typically are adamant about steep cuts to offset any supplemental government spending, are no different on California's fires. "It's got to be more than paid for. They've got to own it," Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., told reporters. "California has never been exactly the most conservative state in terms of spending. We've got to get a pound of flesh on any dollar spent on California, in my opinion."Quick, let's reward Newsom and Bass for their incompetence.
The unnamed fire department veteran told Schellenberger's Public Substack, "We don't have enough engines, and 100 were in the shop" He also said that "Lack of leadership is the problem."One thing we won't have to spend money on is an investigation into the causes of this regularly-scheduled apocalyptic fire -- because the media already has all the answers.
But as fires continue to rage out of control, it's increasingly clear that the response to the fires by California's leaders was inadequate. The LA Department of Water and Power had drained the city's second-largest reservoir of water, which was right near the Palisades fire, and failed to notify the County or City Fire Department. The National Weather Service (NWS) warned of "extreme fire risk" on January 2, the NWS - Los Angeles held a briefing on January 3, and yet Mayor Bass flew to Ghana anyway. Newsom did not call out the National Guard until Friday and did not mobilize national and international help until the last few days.

Even scumbag criminal James Comey would admit they had intent.
Like most of you, I fear that the media is essentially above the law, and that even if this Florida jury finds CNN liable, judges will conspire to give CNN a pass. But I have hope.CNN reporter Alex Marquardt took the stand on Monday, marking the sixth day of the network's Florida defamation trial, brought by U.S. Navy veteran Zachary Young over a report about his efforts to aid in the evacuation of Afghan citizens. Marquardt stated on the stand that he had pitched a story to the network about desperate Afghans fleeing the Taliban -- which resulted in a piece that went to air with claims that Young had "preyed" on the people and "exploited" their desperation to make a quick buck. During Young's testimony late last week, the Navy veteran explained that he had only worked with Afghans who had corporate sponsors who were able to pay the costs associated with the evacuations -- which were often complicated and dangerous -- but Marquardt still went ahead with a story that suggested he was essentially extorting individual citizens. Despite Young's insistence that he only did corporate-sponsored evacuations, Marquardt testified that "the story was not about Bloomberg and Audible. The corporate evacuations were not something I was interested in." Marquardt made Young the face of the story after getting the go-ahead from "top brass" within the network. Young's attorney, Devin Freedman, shared internal messages from CNN, including one from Marquardt stating, "We gonna nail this Zachary Young mf**ker." Marquardt also admitted during testimony that he had found reports of Afghans being scammed as they attempted to flee the country but that he had not included them in the story about Young. He also admitted that he did not have direct evidence of Young exploiting any Afghan citizen. Judge William Scott Henry, who has already ruled that Young did not exploit any Afghan citizens during his time working to coordinate evacuations, read one of the juror's questions aloud to Marquardt to clarify some of his comments. "Why, after several examples of Mr. Young cut off communication with people without [corporate] funds, did you still feel as if he was still exploiting Afghans? ... Do you and your colleagues believe that Mr. Young should have evacuated anyone who requested help without charging? ... How do you feel knowing that Mr. Young can no longer work in the space that he is trained in as a result of your piece?" Throughout his testimony, Marquardt repeated that he was "proud" of his story and said he did not believe CNN should apologize to Young.
For clarification, I don't believe Young is alleging a billion in damages. He's alleging some large number in damages, but to get to a billion, I think he's demanding a huge sum in punitive damages. And oh boy, does CNN need some punishment.
Make. Them. Pay. Bankrupt them. Meanwhile, when asked about his Basement Boy ratings, Jake Tapper claims he doesn't pay attention to ratings.

Is sanity making a comeback?
Right, like 1, you can't just tell women from men by sight and 2, even if you had some questions, you couldn't just look back at past academic records and discover that "Oleander Unicorn" used to be named "Timothy." Democrats are absolutely insane in pushing the tranny lie that "there's just no way to tell men from women" so we might as well Respecc Pronouns.
A bill preventing transgender women from competing in female sports at schools across the country narrowly cleared the House of Representatives Tuesday. Just two Democrats joined with 216 Republicans in voting for the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, which states that schools receiving federal funds would violate the law if they "permit a person whose sex is male to participate in an athletic program or activity that is designated for women or girls." All 206 "nay" votes came from Democrats. Rep. Don Davis (D-NC) voted "present" while a pair of Texans, Henry Cuellar and Vincente Gonzalez bucked party lines to back the bill. "Common sense is back in charge," the bill's co-sponsor, Rep Greg Steube (R-Fla.) declared on X ahead of its passage. "With a soon-to-be Republican trifecta, my bill reflects a mandate from the American people: no men in women's sports."
Manhattan Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) and other Dems denounced the measure as a "cruel attack on transgender children" -- with Nadler even suggesting that the measure could allow authorities to subject biological women to "genital examination."
Obviously Murkowski and Susan Collins and maybe that jerkoff from Lousiana, Cassidy, might vote against it. They'll claim they're just being "libertarian" and keeping government out of these matters. As you may have heard, the Senate voted for cloture for the Laken Riley act overwhelmingly. The soon-to-be-law requires immigration officials to detain illegal alien criminals.
The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, like other legislation the House has taken up early in the 119th Congress, was approved along party lines by the lower chamber in the 118th Congress, only to languish in the Democrat-controlled Senate. The GOP is hopeful that the measure will pass the Republican-controlled Senate and head to President-elect Donald Trump's desk after he takes office next week. However, the bill requires 60 votes to clear a filibuster. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), a former college football coach, has introduced a Senate version of the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act that is co-sponsored by almost three dozen of his GOP colleagues.
The Senate inched closer Monday to final passage of the Laken Riley Act, which requires immigration officials to detain illegal migrants who engage in theft, shoplifting and related crimes. Lawmakers voted 82-10 to consider the measure, with dozens of Democrats joining Republicans in approval. "The bipartisan Laken Riley Act would not only address glaring holes in our immigration policy, but it would hopefully prevent other families from suffering the pain that Laken Riley's has suffered," Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) said.Once it became clear the bill couldn't be stopped, Democrats rushed to support it so it couldn't be used against them in a campaign. (Spoiler: It will be used anyway. You all blocked it for a year.)
The GOP-controlled House passed a similar bill last year, but it was never taken up by the Democrat-controlled Senate. Now that Republicans have the upper chamber, they are hoping to wrangle it through as a ready-to-sign measure when President-elect Donald Trump takes office next week. This was the cloture vote, meaning that debate on it has been closed and it can now be voted for actual passage. Democrats were trying to filibuster it, but when they realized they didn't have the numbers to stop it, most of them voted to stop the filibuster. Courageous heroes, all of them! Bonus:

A recall attempt to knock California Gov. Gavin Newsom out of office is underway as he faces sharp criticism for his handling of the Los Angeles wildfires -- with opponents labeling his leadership a "series of catastrophic failures." Organizers against Newsom vowed to file papers in the next two weeks in hopes of jumpstarting the process that could lead to the Democrat's ouster in the middle of his second term in the governor's mansion. The state chief executive -- along with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass -- is fighting for his political life as the wildfires have torched more than 40,000 acres (62.5 square miles, almost three times the size of Manhattan), destroyed more than 12,000 structures and killed at least 24 people. "Under the reign of Governor Newsom, living in California has become impossible for average people through years of poor policies which have increased the costs of living, increased crime, increased drug use and homelessness, increased the cost of burden [sic] on small businesses and communities, while decreasing our professional standards, education standards, the disappearance of billions of taxpayers' dollars to failed pet programs, and our public services," one recall organizer, Randy Economy, said in a statement. "This was most recently demonstrated by the woefully unprepared and incompetent response to the fires currently ravaging the Los Angeles area." He told Newsweek on Monday that plans for a recall were in the works before the wildfires started, but the chaos has "shortened our time frame and changed things." A notice of intent needs to be filed first and then recall supporters must collect about 1.3 million signatures in five months, according to the outlet.Justine Bateman, who I did not guess would be my favorite political influencer in 2025, is directing people to where they can find a paper recall petition to sign. (It has to be on paper, not an online signature.) Megyn Kelly says that her "woke" California friend is telling her that everyone there is ready to do the unthinkable: Vote Republican.

I mean, you could also point out that Mazie Horono sounds drunk right now as she grills Hegseth about "drinking on the job" ...
Live video of the hearings here.Posted by: Ace at 01:11 PM | Comments (468) | Trackbacks (Suck)
First up: the Democrats are mad because the FBI background check turned up nothing at all. The report is called "unremarkable," in the sense that there's nothing there for Democrats to Seize and Pounce Upon.

Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa quizzed Pete Hegseth at his Senate confirmation hearing on his stance on women in the military, allowing him to clarify where he stands on the matter after a slew of questions from Democrats. "Let's make it very clear for everyone here today as Secretary of Defense, will you support women continuing to have the opportunity to serve in combat roles?" Ernst asked President-elect Trump's nominee to lead the Pentagon. "Yes, women will have access to ground combat roles, combat roles given the standards remain high, and we'll have a review to ensure the standards have not been eroded," Hegseth said.Great. The Credibly Accused Adulteress Joni Ernst is making her devotion to fringe leftist causes paramount. The left organized its usual Chain Disruptions, where "protesters" stand up and scream every couple of minutes. One by one they're cleared from the room, but not before disrupting and delaying the hearings.

But Apple recommended shareholders vote against the proposal, stating that it was "unnecessary as Apple already has a well-established compliance program and the proposal inappropriately attempts to restrict Apple's ability to manage its own ordinary business operations, people and teams, and business strategies." DEI often involves prioritizing race, gender or sexuality in hiring, training and programming, and the initiatives have been criticized by conservatives as divisive and discriminatory. Proponents of DEI say these efforts address racial divides and provide support for groups who have been historically marginalized.
California just got punched in the mouth by the repercussions of focusing on race and sexuality over competence. Los Angeles is burning, in part because they have a bunch of sub-wits running things, and that is a direct result of California's fixation on fat lesbians pretending to be firefighters. Maybe Apple can hire Kristin Crowley as their chief engineer when she is tossed out of Los Angeles on her ample ass! Or maybe Kristine Larson, of 'He got himself in the wrong place' fame as head of marketing! She sure impressed everyone with her abilities! Perhaps in 10 years, as Apple's tech skills decay in opposition to their diversity, their customer base will shrink to a base of iPhone fanbois and legacy users who can't switch to more modern systems without huge training and hardware costs. Or...they quietly reevaluate their insane stance on choosing color and sexuality over quality, and move to a more sane hiring and advancement policy. Disney didn't do that, and has lost half its value, probably due to its ferocious commitment to every DEI and Woke idea. Because with race and sexuality fixated hiring comes race and sexuality fixated employees! Disney got movies filled with those obsessions, and how did it work out for its stockholders? Not well at all. The real question is whether the obvious lack of interest among most Americans with regard to DEI policies will eventually sweep it away. Sadly, the indoctrination in our universities is still going gangbusters, and Griggs v. Duke Power Co. is still the law of the land, and gives disproportionate power and influence to the academy. Who will win is anyone's guess, but the markets are difficult to beat in the long term without good products and growing profits. Hopefully they will get rid of DEI before it destroys our remaining industrial and technological base! [Crossposted at CutJibNewsletter]
