I’ve never seen it as bad as you describe, but I get a lot of packages due to my various book addictions, and I see lesser variations of this all the time. Packages circling through the major cities around where I live before settling down in Austin and making its way up here. Items arriving in one stopover before they’ve left the previous stopover. Items leaving the same stopover twice.
It’s also “funny” how their computer seems to think that just because it’s arrived in Austin it can update the arrival date. Had one last week go from Austin to some unincorporated town forty miles away I’d never heard of, sit there a couple of days, then go back to Austin before heading up here.

Doukhobors were a Russian Orthodox sect; got driven out of Russia late 19th Century. Many went to western Canada. some to Uruguay, too, IIRC. Sort of like Amish or Hutterites; lived communally in huge houses, and farmed. Sons of Freedom were a splinter group, sort of like the Sovereign Citizen crowd. They did not want to pay taxes, or serve in the military, or send their kids to government schools. They did not practice violence against people, but did destroy property. And did nude parading. Miley's house here is aligned pretty well with the front of the house facing south. That was entirely an accident. When we were laying out the rough corners, with stakes and string, I just eyeballed what looked "about right", how I wanted it. I wasn't even thinking about direction alignment.
But it came out almost perfect. Entirely by accident. Or maybe my sense of "about right" is somehow "one with the earth" or something.

1996 working with an ER doc who told the story while free lancing a local hospital in Tahoe of the house builder nailing roofing frames, slipped on the slick morning roof trusses and shot himself in the chest with a framing gun (Show'd me the picture to boot of the X-Ray) with the 13 penny nail IN HIS HEART and the dude drove himself to the hospital. Air lifted to a major medical center where they were able to remove the nail and the dude walked out 4 days later no worse for wear.

There was a guy around here, ran a local hardware store. He had just got married, and was building a house. They had put a window in the wrong spot while framing it in, and he said, hell, I just move it myself, simple enough.
There was a nail gun left around (back then, you could leave your tools on a job site without worry. Well out in the country around here).
He ended up nailing his left hand to a stud using the nailgun. Not thinking he was holding a piece of 2x4 with his left hand, and didn't realize the nail was long enough that it would come through and hit his hand.

There will be another lunar occultation of Mars on Feb 9, a little before the full Moon. Unfortunately, that will be visible only in the far north latitudes on the earth side of the earth, roughly, Greenland through the top of Russia, and then angling down to Chin a bit.
Next one visible for the continental US won't be until 2042.

Groceries used to be supplied in sturdy, brown paper sacks, as God intended. There were no “extra” charges involved, due to the now genius expedient of simply rolling those costs into the price of the groceries themselves. Elegant, that.

Then it got worse. But I’m not bitter. Reading one line in that article about state funding. Some fire stations/equipment were being funded by some state program, which gives them control over the equipment.
There was another line in there that said he couldn't touch the Starlink units given to those funded by the locals.

Sometimes the right people just happen to be in the “wrong” place. Jim Lovell had a lot of time in space and was an Ace navigator. On 8 he got fat thumb and dumped the platform and had to re-align the whole thing. This was while the commander, Frank Borman, was asleep. He left a note for him informing him of same. I bet he blew a gasket when he woke up. LOL “you did what!?”
But on 13 he was the guy you want. Fred Haise was possibly the most knowledgeable person on the planet, er off the planet too, on the Lunar Module, where they had to use as a lifeboat to get back home.
They actually powered down the whole command module. It was never envisioned that it would be turned off. Everything frozen or wet, they never had turned one back on either. A checklist had to be figured out in real time. One of the improvements after the Apollo 1 fire was sealed wiring connector terminations, if they hadn’t improved that, when they powered back up with all the condensation it would have horked

Reading the temp in the Apollo 13 command module only got down to 38F. That was enough to get condensation. The LM stayed around 50F.
The problem in space is mostly heat that has to be shed, and not cooling. They had designed the spacecraft to be an efficient radiator, for all the internal heat. On power down, that worked against them.

I dreamed some colorful dreams last night, but all I recall is pulling into a self-service car wash bay and preparing to change my car's oil (which the management would frown on), but discovering just before I undid the pan plug that I had no basin to catch the oil in. So I had to postpone the change. Also something was bouncing around my mind just as the alarm went off, something about "a gay silverfish." No idea what *that* was connected to.
I'd forgotten about Rocky Burnette -- not the "Toein' the Line" song, but his name and the fact he was Johnny's son. Sometimes I think it was better when artists just performed their songs on TV variety shows, and didn't do weird videos.
