Leftwing Theater in Paris Offers a Free Show to "Refugees;" the Refugees Refuse to Leave, and the Theater Shuts Down After Five Weeks of Occupation

Good afternoon, everybody! I hope everyone is well on this very sunny but very cold Wednesday.

Let me start with an easy one because there's so much going on right now I'm a little overwhelmed and not sure where to start.

Over in the Islamic Colonies of Europe, the Counter-Reconquista is proceeding apace.

A Paris theater known for its progressive agenda is facing potential bankruptcy after over 250 migrant youths occupied the venue in December, demanding housing, health, and education. The occupation, which began following an event promoting tolerance, has led to worsening sanitary conditions and forced the theater to cancel all scheduled events.

Key Details:

The Gaîté Lyrique theater was overtaken by migrant youths following a December 10th event focused on tolerance and migrant support. The group has since grown to approximately 300 occupants.

The theater's management issued statements condemning the lack of action from city and state officials, highlighting unsanitary conditions and concerns for their staff's safety.

The theater, owned by the Paris council, has canceled events until at least January 24th, citing financial strain from the ongoing occupation.

Diving Deeper:

The Gaîté Lyrique theater in Paris, a venue renowned for hosting radical and progressive programming, reportedly finds itself in dire financial straits after migrant youths occupied the premises last month. The takeover began on December 10th during an event organized to promote tolerance toward migrants, with activists reportedly directing the youths to the theater.

Précieux, a self-identified 16-year-old Congolese migrant, summed up the group's stance, stating, "We are here to claim our right to housing, health, and education," as reported by French outlet RFI. Since then, the number of migrants occupying the space has surged, further complicating the theater's operations.

The Gaîté Lyrique issued multiple statements lamenting the forced nature of the occupation while also sympathizing with the migrants' plight.

It's just so perfect.

136 That's why the EU is so desperate to control speech and elections - they don't want the native populations of these countries to be able to change the course of what is underway.

The other prong of the Elimination of Europe is economic stagnation.

Somebody on X noted that 16 years ago, the US and EU economies were roughly equal in size. Now, the US economy is 50% bigger than the EU.

The EU is a sclerotic bureaucratic dictatorship with choking economic regulation, which has succeeded in largely eliminating economic growth.

Amazingly, the United States is still a beacon of economic freedom, compared to the EU.

"Equality" really only has a definition in well-formed systems.

Otherwise it's a suspension of judgment.

We *could* declare the murderer "equal" to the law abiding. And since we're not locking up the law abiding, we shouldn't give "unequal" treatment to murderers.

It's all in what we are committed to overlook.

Thus "equal" is really a logical negative saying we are agnostic about ordering. Or "I will not order these things." Yet, life has a way of demanding an end to suspension. And when reasonable, suspensions of judgment should be ended.

We prefer to stay on the cliff as opposed to walking off it. We *could* declare those paths "equal", but that would be the course to delusion.

I also prefer Black Sabbath to anything Ozzy released other than perhaps the Randy Rhodes and Jake E. Lee material, and that depends on the day of the week I'm listening.

I can't imagine anyone suffering thru trying to listen to Ozzy speak--I can't understand his words. And he and Sharon ripped off a host of musicians who worked for them over the years--they're truly horrible people.

304 282 I guess for its time it was kind of groundbreaking so I get why it’s considered a classic. But on a purely “does it entertain me or not” scale, it didn’t.

The famous car chase was good. But that’s like a few mins of the movie.

It's a police procedural first and foremost: about the nitty gritty of an investigation, but done in a "realistic" style that was very different from police movies of yesteryear.

It was rather unusual for the time, enhanced by Friedkin's cinema verite approach to the filmmaking. It was different at a time when Hollywood had no real idea what the future meant for it.

It also made a good amount of money.

I like it fine, but it's one of those Best Picture winners that hasn't aged very well. Better than some (Cimarron, The English Patient) but much worse than others (Casablanca).

Perhaps, but I don't think so. We need to move on, and Netanyahu has degraded Hamas and Iran significantly - even though not totally, of course. Once the hostages (or what's left of them) come home, Trump and Netanyahu can attach a new set of conditions to ensure that this doesn't happen again. If it does (and you and I know that Hamas would like for it to happen again), there will be 'hell to pay'. In the meantime, this creates space for the Abraham Accords to get finalized. This situation was the obstacle getting in the way of that. Once that finally happens, Hamas will have no formal safe haven in the ME. They will be back to getting financially starved to make a real, lasting deal.

Heroin use was off the charts in NYC during the 60's and 70's to the extent that perps were called 'skels' because most of them used heroin and were as skinny as skeletons.

Right, that's the rub of it.

If 50% of the people of child bearing age are immigrants and 97% of people over 50 are white British, the numbers very quickly shift as the older people die off and the immigrants have a ton of kids.

Give it 15 - 20 years, I guarantee we will see huge demographic shifts not only in Europe but also in North America. Yuge.

========

It can easily be possible.

If a majority of Muslims name their boys Muhammad but there's nothing like a consensus around how whites name their boys, it can create a herding effect that makes the Muslim population seem bigger than it actually is.

Like, 8% of all UK kids are named Muhammad, but 60% are named an assortment of British names like Michael or Benjamin, but none of them get more than 7% of the total.

I don't know if this is actually happening, but I can easily imagine that it's the excuse.

Posted by: Orson at January 15, 2025 12:59 PM (dIske)

Yes, but that's not really the most telling part. Mohammed (and the various spellings) is an incredibly common name to Muslims. Moreso than any single name is for British. Pretty much every Muslim family will have at least one Mohammed.

The real number that matters is the age distribution of the population.

I don't have it off the top of my head, and it shifts daily, but the real number that matters long term is the number of women of child bearing age. And in that age group, it is nowhere near 87% white in the UK.

And as the old white people die off naturally and the women of child bearing age have children, the demographics shift dramatically in very short periods of time. That dramatic shift hasn't happened yet in most of Europe, but will in the next few decades.

The meat locker called earlier and our beef quarter is processed, packaged, and ready for pickup! Should fill the freezer quite nicely. I have to pick that up and I don't think I have enough containers for carrying that much.

Monday we will be getting the new washer and dryer delivery! Our set is at least 25 years old and Hubbymayhem has had to fix them several times. This house has natural gas hookup for a dryer so we finally get to have one. It cost $100 more for natural gas than electric. Worth it! We get "free" natural gas. "Free" meaning we pay income tax on it, but no monthly costs.

Looking forward to the inauguration and trying to finish some projects! Hope everyone is staying warm and hopeful.

401 >>>but I haven't seen The Conversation, which is generally acknowledged as a sort of prequel to Enemy. Any thoughts as to its quality?

it is... slow. It's very understated and "realistic" but it does take its time.

The central conceit is that he's a surveillance expert who's taped an important conversation about a murder and a conspiracy, but the tape is inaudible in many places due to crowd noise. As the movie goes, he uses technical means to clean up the recording and reveal more of the conversation. The reveals are interesting and sinister.

This idea of revisiting a piece of media over and over, with the meaning of the media changing as more is learned, was then used over and over again by Brian DePalma, in Blow Out and the one where Nic Cage is a casino security head in Atlantic City.

I would say the Conversation is worth a watch but it is not fun and it's not rewatchable.

Posted by: The ARC of History! at January 15, 2025 12:58 PM (uxCna)

Yuge.

And there is not much anyone can do about that at this point.
Posted by: Harry Paratestes
======
Until recently, white and overall fertility was higher in the UK than in other Euro nations.

But simply projecting trends to the sky never really plays out well in history. Trees never grow to the sky, etc.

Same as Sweden now has a net outflow of migrants when they toughened up their laws on ingress and stopped a lot of payments to moochers.

Much of this invasion of Europe and US is economically driven and if the economics become untenable, many will go.

It does. The best Westerns have a lot in common with the hardboiled crime story (not the private eye story, really, but crime tales like Stark's "Parker the thief" books). Elmore Leonard came to his crime writing from Westerns, and Loren D. Estleman still writes some of the best oaters ever. And of course Robert Parker did both.

At least when I looked in to it a few years ago, it was more of a cluster effect than anything.

Not something that most people would have predicted on 9/12.
Posted by: The ARC of History! at January 15, 2025 12:45 PM (uxCna)

When George Bush told the American public that "Islam is a religion of peace," right after 9/11, that was a big clue.

The second was that immigration from muslim countries wasn't suspended for a few months in order to vet anyone coming in better than had been done previously.

Bush is responsible for that. I don't regret my first vote for clinton nearly as much as I regret both votes for him. Sadly, there was no alternative.

446 Much of this invasion of Europe and US is economically driven and if the economics become untenable, many will go.
Posted by: whig at January 15, 2025 01:07 PM (ctrM5)

I don't think so. Especially once they and their kids have permanent status. Which many already do in most countries.

Would you return to Syria even if the economic prospects were bleak in Germany, knowing that you could live a reasonable life on the dole in Germany?

I'm not familiar with Sweden's exact policies, but I know they let in a lot of refugees from various places (including Ukraine), but none of them had any kind of permanent status, and they don't have birthright citizenship. So it's fairly easy for them to flip a switch and start kicking people out.

That would be impossible in the US. Even if we kicked out every immigrant both legal and illegal tomorrow, they still have tens of millions of kids who are all now US citizens. And it would be cruel to separate minor children from their parents ... etc etc etc.

Green Acres without the surreal elements isn't Green Acres any more! But yes, Corner Gas was something like that. The lead actor reminded me a lot of Jason Alexander; I guess that's why I think Seinfeld is in the mix.

Thank you both. Actually all, I'm missing someone. Sorry.

I had a female India Indian coworker who loved the British type of comedies.

I lent her 'Corner Gas' dvds which she enjoyed, Hated Hank for being so stupid.

It's just a nice quiet show to have in the background. Like Bob Barker's Price is Right.

460 That said, the demographic shift is undoubtably going to happen fairly soon absent some kind of massive policy change. I don't think anyone in Europe has birthright citizenship, so they mayyy have the ability to reverse this if they act like right now, but I highly doubt they will.

Said earlier, never assume linear trends continue. Relatively uncommon on social sciences as human behavior affects the experiment.

France and Belgium, for a variety of reasons are considered the nations most at risk. Netherlands and Danes are moving rightwards. German is beginning to, and Austria already has and is accelerating in remigration as is Sweden.

Decline and surrender are choices and not mandated in the stars nor in science.

463 I must be unusual because for me Unforgiven is one of Eastwood’s worst films… I just didn’t enjoy it and surely wouldn’t watch it again. It’s one of the few Hackman roles where I didn’t like his character at all
Posted by: LinusVanPelt at January 15, 2025

Hackman's Little Bill isn't very likeable. Neither, in the last analysis, is William Munny, Eastwood's character. Both have the same first name, and both are definitely vicious men when they get going. It's not a hopeful or "Hell, yeah!" Eastwood film, but something more substantial.

It was written by the same guy who adapted P.K. Dick's book into Blade Runner, so that might tell you something.

The perfect illustration of Ed Harris' faggotry is when Elia Kazan got his honorary Oscar. Kazan is pretty well hated in Hollywood for naming names to HUAC, but respected for his talent. So the crowd gave him a reluctant ovation and polite but muted applause.

Harris and his crone wife kept their seats, crossed their arms and scowled in hatred. Someone in the control booth must have been based because the camera lingered on them both.
