41 Proportions of the bewbs seems to be incorrect. Given the size and shape and overall perkiness of her left one, it seems impossible that the right one would land where it does with the dude's arm where it is. In other words, the placement of his arm would more likely squish and cover the right bewb instead of displacing it so much.

No, not at all...

Posted by: Bulg at January 15, 2025 09:39 AM (77rzZ)

49 Cupid looks like this is the first time he's tried a human woman, and he *likes* it!

The story seems to be that Psyche does not know who her lover is at first -- everything happens in the dark. Venus is offended that Psyche's parents worship *her,* Psyche, not Venus. So she sends Cupid, her son, to wound Psyche with an arrow so she'll fall in love with the first person she sees. But he accidentally sticks himself with his own arrow, and falls hard for Psyche. ("Oops! Sorry, Mom, got the clumsies today --!")

Can't tell about her arch, but her instep has a nice creamy texture. Her second toe is longer than her big toe -- Morton's Toe, I think it's called (though I suspect it has nothing to do with the salt company).

85 Great painter. I like the red couch and the scene through the window. Cupid looks a little like a younger, less serious version of Jacques Louis David . Great painter but I can't like his support of the Revolution, but then so did The brilliant Thomas Jefferson. David had a great way of looking after himself at difficult times.

92 Odd, but in the painting Psyche and Amor, also known as Psyche Receiving Cupid's First Kiss (179, by François Gérard, Psyche's feet have the same longer second toe. David was a contemporary, so he may have seen Gérard's painting. Or maybe all the models David knew had that trait.

147 The death of DEI is going to kill many libs.
The last 20 years many people believed that adding a gay or a lesbian or a handicapped person to the staff would make things better. Sure enough there was still 80 to 90 percent competent staff so that did not matter.
But over 20 years great people leave for better rewards. Good people stay until they retire. And that leaves you with the replacements looking like the staff at a 4th rate High School. People that could not teach or coach that got pushed up to admin and then finally to 2nd assistant principal.

The wailing and gnashing of teeth of those that so prided themselves to the glory of DEI is going to be worse than the actual DEI hires that gradually move on to nowhere jobs at nowhere places.

This is one case where mentioning the *original* Prometheus would not be inapproprate. Not that he had anything to do with Cupid & Psyche's story.

Related: On Jeopardy! last night, one clue stated that Hercules (Heracles, really) was connected with the city of Troy. He defeated and killed their king, so that the King Priam that features in the Iliad could come to power. Priam was described as an old man at the time of the Trojan War. So Heracles preceded the war by some decades, I guess.

after watching today’s hearing with Pete Hegseth and having a few hours to think about what happened there, I am deeply triggered right now. And I’m certain I am not alone.

I have known men like Pete Hegseth my entire adult life, entitled pretty boys who never learned where the boundaries were or how to respect other people.

What is more sickening than the unserious members of the “good old boys” club? Women like Joni Ernst. What a spectacular fraud. She has never stood up for victims of sexual assault. She didn’t even show up for Dr. Blasey-Ford’s hearing. She refused to meet with the woman who accused Hegseth of rape.

I can not bear to think about what the next four years are going to bring, for women in the military and for women who are federal employees, especially those working in Washington D.C.

I can hear the mental gymnastics now: the high inflation during Biden's term was the result of Trump, and now that he's finally getting it under control, Trump will benefit again. They always say (and seem to believe) that nonsense.

Wikipedia, Love and Psyche (David)
Jacques-Louis David - clevelandart dot org/art/1962.37

David used the story of Cupid and Psyche to explore the conflict between idealized love and physical reality. Cupid, lover of the beautiful mortal Psyche, visited her nightly on the condition that she not know his identity. Cupid was usually depicted as an ideal adolescent, but here David presents him as an ungainly teenager smirking at his sexual conquest. David took inspiration from a number of ancient texts, including an obscure, recently published Greek poem by Moschus that describes Cupid as a mean-spirited brat with dark skin, flashing eyes, and curly hair.

Dispute is over what standard of evidence should be used in the appellate court over the case--Pron purveyors want strict scrutiny because it controls speech, others, relying on time, place, manner and former obscenity rulings by the court regarding access by minors, want to employ rational basis.

In other words, the limits to pronhub access is no different than a state preventing yutes from going to strip bars, adult bookstores, or adult theaters. Those have traditionally been considered under rational basis as obscenity is not protected speech per se.

273 Fox News - President Biden releases farewell letter, says it’s been ‘privilege of my life to serve this nation'

Biden to deliver farewell address from Oval Office tonight at 8 p.m. ET, by Greg Norman, Fox News, Published January 15, 2025

In part, "President Biden released a farewell letter Wednesday saying that "It has been the privilege of my life to serve this nation for over 50 years."

"Today, we have the strongest economy in the world and have created a record 16.6 million new jobs. Wages are up. Inflation continues to come down," he added ahead of a speech tonight from the Oval Office.

Biden began his letter by writing that four years ago when he took office, "We were in the grip of the worst pandemic in a century, the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, and the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War.

"But we came together as Americans, and we braved through it. We emerged stronger, more prosperous, and more secure," he said."

I saw $5/doz. this weekend at Walmart. Aldi is usually about the same. Local grocery chain is higher -- they had a six-pack for $3.99 last week.

For somebody who remembers when you could get a dozen at Save-a-Lot for a dollar only ten years ago, this is pretty horrifying.

Shadowstats has unfortunately went behind a paywall but I found that the BLS still has buried deep in its website, where the original inflation measure purposely changed by Carter to make him look better, is still calculated. But, there is a lag in them doing it. It is called, "Consumer Price Index Retroactive Series (R-CPI-U-RS)" starting in December 1977. December 2023 index has the US at 449.3 (Dec 1977 was 100).

Since then, BLS has renormed the series starting at 2005 instead of 1977 in order to more effectively hide Biden crap. This was done in the last several months btw.

Two different issues--bird flu depopulation of laying flocks which takes roughly 9-12 months to rectify by new pullets. The second is the increasing mandate for cage free layers by a number of states. Think Michigan just became one. More expensive to keep them on the ground--higher chicken mortality (pecking order is literally a thing if you do not debeak them---banned in some states) and more antibiotic use (chickens can and do eat other chicken's poop for example or walk through it).

City life does not deal a whole lot with unpleasantries involving farming operations, particularly livestock operations.

Saw an excellent movie last night,

"Red Rooms" streaming for "free" on Shudder and elsewhere.

The story concerns a model who is obsessed with the trial of a horrible serial killer. She attends the trial as a spectator and it begins to affect her and her job.

It's listed as a horror movie, but it's really not. It's more like a horror-adjacent mystery or thriller. If this was an American movie, it would be very florid, however this is a French Canadian movie and it it very cool and ambiguously presented. all stainless steel surface like a Hitchcock movie directed by Kubrick.

The movie wants to keep you unbalanced, confused by the protagonists actions and creeped out. Nothing is explained by the characters but by the end everything is revealed as beneath this movie's placid surface, careers are ruined, illusions shattered, hope renewed, and justice ultimately served.

Great acting, great directing with some dynamite scenes, you've sorta seen this movie before but not like this.

Definitely check it out.

Yes they do but they often make a mess of things. Depending on how deep and what kind of soil is involved. In AF Civil Engineering, had to deal with a vibratory roller that an inexperienced operated litterally buried and compacting until the guy finally shut it off. Had to use power equipment and handwork to literally dig it out and build a ramp for it---try to tow it out would have broken something. Had similar fun with stuck tractors, semis, dozers, graders, excavators etc. over the years as we played in the dirt a lot in CE.

The vibratory roller was the worst of all.

i once did a forth that lived entirely within the on-chip cache of a vax; nv5+, nominally pin-compatible with alpha. like alpha, nv5+ would boot by loading its cache from a serial eprom and jumping to it. the serial eprom pins then became available as general-purpose i/o. the first version bit-banged the serial eprom pins to become a uart. turned nv5+ with the serial eprom, rs-232 transceiver, clock source, and power into a single-chip forth machine.

came in handy as it allowed me to find a key incompatibility between nv5+ and alpha. with that information, i was able to build a processor module that allowed you to pull the alpha from a pci workstation and plug a vax in. that's right, i once built a pci vax.

customer cancelled the project before it could get far enough to work on booting an operating system.

412 >>> 347 Zombie C.S. Lewis

One of C.S. Lewis’s better books, by the way, is Till We Have Faces, a retelling of the story of Cupid and Psyche.

“Today I shall meet cruel men, cowards and liars, the envious and the drunken. They will be like that because they do not know what is good from what is bad. This is an evil which has fallen upon them not upon me.”
Posted by: Stephen Price Blair

-----

Lewis here has the Fox, Psyche's and Orual's teacher/mentor/father figure, quoting The Poets. By this he means "Meditations," by Marcus Aurelius. This is what Aurelius would say every day upon waking, to keep him from exasperation with fools and knaves.

Another translation, a bit longer, goes like this:

“When you wake up in the morning, tell yourself: the people I deal with today will be meddling, ungrateful, arrogant, dishonest, jealous and surly. They are like this because they can't tell good from evil. But I have seen the beauty of good, and the ugliness of evil, and have recognized that the wrongdoer has a nature related to my own - not of the same blood and birth, but the same mind, and possessing a share of the divine. And so none of them can hurt me. [...]

413 Got cut off. Here's the whole quote by Marcus Aurelius:

“When you wake up in the morning, tell yourself: the people I deal with today will be meddling, ungrateful, arrogant, dishonest, jealous and surly. They are like this because they can't tell good from evil. But I have seen the beauty of good, and the ugliness of evil, and have recognized that the wrongdoer has a nature related to my own - not of the same blood and birth, but the same mind, and possessing a share of the divine. And so none of them can hurt me. No one can implicate me in ugliness. Nor can I feel angry at my relative, or hate him. We were born to work together like feet, hands and eyes, like the two rows of teeth, upper and lower. To obstruct each other is unnatural. To feel anger at someone, to turn your back on him: these are unnatural.”

416 What are CBD Gummies? CBD gummies are edible that contain the compound CBD (cannabidiol).

CBD is a chemical compound present in hemp plants, a type of marijuana plant.
Unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the psychedelic substance present in cannabis, CBD is non-psychoactive, which signifies it doesn't produce the "excessive"
that is often associated to cannabis usage.
CBD gummies are usually used for their potential wellness advantages, which might embrace minimizing stress, reducing inflammation, and helping with sleep.
Some folks additionally make the most of CBD edibles for minor aches.
While there is some proof to suggest that CBD could also be helpful for these purposes, even more, research study is
required to totally understand its potential effects.
Cannabidiol gummies are available in numerous
flavors and could be discovered at several health meals shops and online.
They're usually made by mixing CBD oil with a gelling agent, equivalent to jelly or pectin, and adding sweeteners and
flavors. The CBD oil used in numerous CBD gummy bears is
normally drawn out from hemp plants utilizing carbon dioxide extraction.
