France Surrenders!
Well, I know that's not really news, because that IS what France does...but this time France has surrended to...
France!
Some of the 200 demonstrators — a small turnout in protest-friendly France — waved white flags.
Of course, an argument could be made that the invading muslim army is not French, but the press insists that they are -- so France has now surrendered to France.
I'd like to say it wasn't expected, but they didn't know who else to surrender to, I guess...

My Vast Right Wing Conspiracy).

RIOTS IN FIGURES
8,973 cars burnt
2,888 arrests
20 nights of riots
Source: National police
Nationwide, 163 cars were burnt - almost down to the levels seen before the riots began last month.
National Police Chief Michel Gaudin said on Tuesday the decline showed France was "getting back to normal".
But Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin told parliament "we cannot accept that more than 200 cars burn each night".
So according to the BBC, approximately 150 cars are torched every night in France? Am I reading this right? 200 torched cars are acceptable?
I just read that they are placing some blame on polygamy now.
Talk about tap dancing down jackass alley to whitewash this and blame everything except what is to blame. Can't use that M word can they?

Holy crap! It's normal for ANY cars to be burnt? What is that, a hobby in France? Do the thugs sit around at night and say, "Well, Mohommed, we've only burned 2 cars tonight -- you want to burn a couple more or call it quits for today?"

Political Words
I read a lot of blogs, and I see words and labels tossed around all the time. There's the "evil Republicans" and the "Left-wing wackos," and on and on the labels go. We all use the labels, we all LIKE labels. It helps keep things organized.
One thing that annoys me, and I know some do it on purpose, is when a label is applied that does not fit my definition or idea of what the label should be. For example, when people call the Republican Senate "conservative" -- that's just not even close to right.
So, to help anyone who reads my posts or comments, here's my perception of the left-right chart of politics. The standard left/right scale is illustrated with the far left side being the far-lefties, and the far-right side being the, well, far-right. The donut in the middle is the middle position between the left and right.

Yes, that's me, Libertarians, lovers of freedom, and members of the Free State Project waaaaay over there on the right. I wish people would stop (deliberately) calling Republicans conservatives -- it's just not true any more.

Not liberal -- lefty -- and that's if you think the Republicans are conservative.
In my mind, conservatives oppose larger government and work to shrink government. Certainly the Republican Party and G.W. Bush do NOT. Sure, this simplistic chart is biased towards financial matters, but that's really reflective of so many other things, including freedom and economics.

And Bou, that's my point of this whole chart -- I really do believe that because of the redefinition of terms in this country today, the majority of the country IS leftist. From election results, at the very least, the vast majority of the voting population is not right of center at all!

Free Medicine -- but not for citizens
What would you do if you came home one night to find that people had not only broken in, but had made themselves at home -- eating your food, sleeping in your beds, watching your TV, going to your doctor and leaving you to pay the bills?
And I don’t mean your in-laws or your adult kids, or even your old college roommate. No, I’m talking about people you have never met – people who simply decided to help themselves to your house and your life.
If you are like me, you’d call the police to have them arrested. After all, people cannot just move into your home without permission.
But what if the police simply shrugged their shoulders and said, “Nothing we can really do about this” and let the intruders stay? Would you accept that response? Would you allow those strangers to live in your home rent free?

Free Heat in North Carolina
There's no need to pay your heating bill in North Carolina this year. Gubn'r Easley, King of North Carolina, has made a royal decree that all the taxpayers of North Carolina will give him money that he will use to buy heat. He will then distribute the heat to those he deems royally worthy.
In addition, since there are not enough working people left in the state to pay for all the heat he wants to buy, he has decided that the power companys, who are also ruled by the king, will also pay millions of dollars for his heating program.
There are no exact outlines drawn to determine which of his 8 million subjects will be given the heat that he decides to distribute. It is estimated that the king will select about 70,000 people who will be beneficiaries of his free winter heat program -- only that he will expect renewed fealty to be sworn to him and his successors after he gives them the gift.

Since it is 5 degrees here, maybe moving to NC wouldn't be a bad idea. Not only is it warmer outside, but I can get my house heated for free too.
Crank up the thermostat! No need to set it at 65 degrees if someone else is paying for it. Make it 75!

I remember last winter when a number of states added laws that said that power companies couldn't turn off heat to customers who didn't pay their bills. So yes, why bother? If you don't pay, what happens? Nothing. Oh, maybe you'll get a hit on your credit report, but that's about all.
And heck, if the king likes you, he'll just pay your bill for you.
And VW, to be king, you have to annointed in North Carolina. The sucessor to the current king is the NC Attorney General. He did the most sucking up to the current king, so he gets hand-picked to be the next king. When you're king, people try to win your favor so that you will be selected next king.

Texas has something kind of like this, but not as far as this goes. We have a state law which states IF the temperature is above(summer) or below(winter) a "certain level", then the electric/gas companies cannot disconnect you for non-pay, until the temperature "normalizes" again. Example, if the "mark" is 100 degress in the summer, that means that someone COULD suffer health effects w/o electricity, and if it's 30 degrees in the summer, the cold could affect you as well. BUT, that is NOT to say you get your bill forgiven and don't have to pay, it just means you get a little more time, and trust me, once that "mark" is no longer a problem, they can, AND WILL, cut your happy but off!
And yes, while working for the evil electric company, I got calls from people who said they KNEW it was "illegal to cut power off" during the summer, and one even sued. I was allowed to read a transcript of the court proceedings, and by the end, the Judge told the idiot customer to start reading the laws, and then told him to not only pay his bill, and the reconnect fee, but also to pay my company's legal fees.
Man I love being an "evil, heartless, conservative" some-times, especially when I get to point out STUPIDITY from "the left".

Media Patriotism?
This week, The Alliance is asking yet another question. The Alliance is wondering:
Is the Mainstream Media patriotic? Why or why not?
First, a minor correction. This conglomerate called "The Mainstream Media" -- says who? Who made them "mainstream?" I mean, really, who came up with the term "mainstream media?"
What is every other form of media, if it's not "mainstream?" Is everyone else "alternative?" Who gets to decide who is "mainstream" and who is "alternative?"
And wait, isn't "alternative" supposed to be good and celebrated? If you're not supporting "alternative," aren't you being racist, sexist, homophobic, or some other derogatory term? So, logically, the mainstream media, by it's own definition is not "alternative" -- and is therefore racist, sexist, and homophobic.
Certainly being patriotic is a good thing, right? So one who is patriotic must be a good person or a good being. And those who are racist, sexist, and homophobic are not good, once again, according to the aforementioned "mainstream" media.
Now, since we now have determined that the "mainstream" media is, according to the "mainstream" media, racist, sexist, and homophobic, it seems only natural that they cannot be patriotic, too, doesn't it? Because certainly one who is patriotic is not racist, sexist, and homophobic, right?

President Washington

"Reason & experience both forbid us to expect that National morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.
'Tis substantially true, that virtue or morality is a necessary spring of popular government. The rule indeed extends with more or less force to every species of Free Government. Who that is a sincere friend to it, can look with indifference upon attempts to shake the foundation of the fabric."
In other words, without religious principle, there can be no National morality.

Sen Stevens (R-AK) Resigns!
Well, that should be the headline. After all, Senator Stevens, on October 20, 2005, clearly said:
If the Senate decides to discriminate against our state . . . I will resign from this body.
He said that he wasn't kidding. Senator Stevens clearly stated that he would resign if the bridge to nowhere in Alaska wasn't given all the pork-barrel money he wanted for it.
Keep in mind, this was in response to Senator Tom Colburn's attempted amendment to defund that and dozens of other pure pork projects. And in case you forgot, the "Republican" Senate voted to continue that pork and utterly wasteful spending.
Well, that money
is gone now. Where's your resignation, Senator?
Qando has started the
Senator Stevens resignation watch. I wonder if I should make one of those counters for my sidebar that says, "X days since Senator Stevens said he would resign."

He sounds awfully like all the libs who swore they would leave the country if Bush was reelected, and whom we're still waiting, with baited breath, to see off at the airport, one way tickets in hand.
If he doesn't resign forthwith, he'll look pretty foolish, adults usually do when they attempt childish tactics -- hell, look at the DNC!
The biggest BS is that, since the funds are no longer allocated for the bridges, the money hasn't been "put back in the safe," so to speak.
"So we can't waste the taxpayer's money on the bridges, but can we keep the money anyway?"
"Sure, babe, no problem."
Sounds old-boy networky to me.

Illegals Don't Get Rights
It seems the illegal aliens (yes, I know they really ARE "undocumented workers," but I'm still going to call them what they SHOULD be, which is ILLEGAL aliens) are whining that they don't have all the rights of citizenship, even though they're not citizens.
The buggers this time are demanding that the state of Maryland deliver driver's licenses to their houses, printed in their native language, and delivered by a pretty person of the opposite sex that is also from their homeland and speaks their language.
Well, that's not quite exactly what they're asking for, but it's damn close.
They are complaining that every single person who works for the state of Maryland does not speak their native languages, since they refuse to learn English. They say it's unfair that they have to make appointments with the Maryland driver's license offices.
One person says it's unfair that he's lived in America for 20 years (and is not a citizen), but that he doesn't just automatically get a license and actually has to wait a few months because he refuses to learn to speak English.
Morons.
ALL government business, forms, people, and everything else associated with government should be done in English. If YOU don't speak English, YOU can get your own damn translator. And no, I really don't give a damn about what "government benefits" you don't get because you refuse to learn the language.

Actually, the guy complaining has lived in the country legally for the last 20 years. That means he is entitled to some measure of the rights enjoyed by citizens. A drivers license is one of them. But, his foreign-born paperwork still has to be reviewed and the rules still have to be followed. The fact he speaks spanish shouldn't be a problem, since most cities have spanish translators working for each agency (including Baltimore). He just doesn't want to go out of his way to follow the written rules. The real issue isn't that he wants "rights" it is that he wants "special rights", and he shouldn't get "special" privileges just cause he is legal. I don't get them. My mom speaks English poorly and she doesn't get them and she is a citizen. Bah!
Now, had he been illegal, I would say "Off with his head!"

You're correct in pointing out that he's really looking for special rights. As a non-citizen, I'm not interested in doing anything for him, including giving him a driver's license. I really cannot understand how he could live and function in this country without being able to speak English for 20 years!
Governments should NOT be required to print anything nor engage in ANY transactions in any language other than English. You want U.S. Government crap, learn English.

Ogre, I completely agree with you on this subject. One thing I can't stand is someone illegally coming into the United States and thinking they’re better than everyone. They should have to pay taxes as soon as they step foot on U.S. soil and pay double the amount that U.S. citizens have to pay. I don’t think there should be any other language except English printed on ANYTHING inside the borders of this country. If I had a say so, I would send every f***ing immigrant that isn’t supposed to be here back to they’re native country. If you was not born on U.S. soil, and have not yet been granted citizenship, get the hell out!!!!

Hey, now you've got a good idea there. We're constantly told by the elites that growth doesn't pay for itself -- that's why they have to raise taxes when the city border grow. So those who are causing the growth should have to pay for it!
What a great deal that would be for legal citizens! If you enter this country and work here and you're not a citizen, you have to pay twice the highest tax rate of citizens! That would be awesome!
Of course, I'm not sure how you double more than 50%...

Higher Education Bias
Some people continue to point out the obvious, that state-run institutions of "higher education" are crammed full of super-ultra-liberals who support communism, socialism, and various other philosophies that abhor freedom, capitalism, and Christianity.
And if you point out those facts, YOU are the one bringing politics into the classroom, according to Judith Wegner, not surprisingly, the chairwoman of the faculty at UNC with a clear vested interest in keeping herself and her friends in place, no matter how much they might hate freedom and America.
She is defending people like UNC English lecturer Elyse Crystall who emailed all her students in her classes to attack one of her students who didn't think gays should be celebrated and have special rights -- no free speech for you in Elyse Crystall's classes.
She defends people like Steven E. Jones from BYU, loony extraordinaire,
who thinks that there were no Muslims or terrorists involved in the 9-11 attack on America.
Other, more sane people, want there to be some balance. They don't want people hired to higher education positions based on their politics -- but people like Judith Wegner do not like the idea that people can be free, so she supports continuing the policy of specifically hiring only those who have the correct political beliefs.
A bill was introduced in the NC Legislature last year to give students the actual right to disagree with professors -- and the Democrats promptly crushed it to ensure that no freedom of speech, nor even thought, would be allowed in the schools of North Carolina.
Explain to me again why government needs to be involved in education at all? The entire state university funding system should be completely shut down. Let private industry handle education -- they can do everything else better than government -- and then this would not be an issue, nor a HUGE financial expenditure.

UN Blows Goats
Well you probably already knew that. They're once again making an effort to take over the internet. Why? Two reasons:
1. Money. They are jealous and want some cash. They need to find some way to replace that lost oil for food money they were stealing, and they think internet registration is a cash cow, so they're going for it.
2. Jealousy. The rest of the world really is jealous of the unfettered capitalism that promotes such growth and good ideas. Since their oppressive regimes cannot produce any new ideas, they want to steal America's.
Why hasn't the UN gone the way of the League of Nations yet?
Update, 11/16: The idiots (that's the UN)

They've actually been talking about doing this for a few years now. One of the big snags has been deciding exactly how to tax internet usage.
Unfortunately, for us Americans, EU policy has proven a lot more influential and impeding than we would like.
If they decide to tax internet usage, they will find a way to break our government's resolve and force us to abide by that tax. Be prepared for a higher broadband bill.

The UN wont go awayuntil there are no individual countries. It is what the power hungry use to try to control the world. And as long as nations continue to bow to it, it only gains power.
I'll leave the internet before I let them start taxing me for it.

There are many, many people in this world that simply despite the whole idea of the nation-state. They want one world, one government, one people.
It will NEVER happen -- absolutely 100% guaranteed.

Purpose of Taxes
What is the purpose of taxing people? Why do governments exist?
Once upon a time, in a land far away, governments existed to maintain order and protect rights. That is no longer the case. The PRIMARY reason that government exist today in America is to spend money. That's it.
They do not exist even to provide "services" to people. They do not exist to "help" people. And they most certainly do not exist today to "secure [these] rights, deriving their [government's] just Powers from the consent of the governed."
That's why the governments of this country were created, in case you didn't learn that in the government-run education ghetto.

Ogre says: "Once upon a time, in a land far away, governments existed to maintain order and protect rights."
That must be fantasy land. Jefferson's concept of government is a terrific ideal of what governments should be but has little to do with reality. If anything, our modern democracies are a big improvement over the days of kings, lords, and tribal chiefs. Anybody who tells you he's your king should definitely be shot.

I'm not stopping you, Oddy!
And Windypundit, you better reload, because there's an awful lot of politicians that will gladly tell you that they are your king -- especially in your neck of the woods.
I'm not so sure our current system is all that much better than the feudal system -- at least in the feudal system, you knew where you stood!

And we would all have lived happily ever after.

Posted by: Ogre at November 15, 2005 02:56 PM (/k+l4)
6
I'd be cool with that, too. Oddy as queen. However, I'd request a moated castle in Eastern Washington in exchange for my servitude.
By the way, here in Red Washington, they still charge a telegraph tax on phone bills. Essentially, we're still paying a monthly telegraph rent on the telephone poles outside our homes. I've thought about this, and, well, I don't know anyone who's actually ever used a telegraph. Even for fun. Government doesn't like to revoke an established tax, even an obviously antiquated one.
Posted by: Stevin at November 15, 2005 03:31 PM (LfL8N)
7
And that's just more evidence that governments absolutely DO NOT exist to serve people, or even to make sense -- many people believe that government collects money to provide services. That's not true -- they collect money so they can spend it, period.
We even had a Democrat running for County Comission a few years ago admit it -- he said, "Well of course I'm going to tax and spend -- that's what governments do."

"Lost" Money
Interesting news headlines, when placed next to one another. Headline #1:
UNC system loses $31 million in funds
The article is about how the entire University of North Carolina system is in utter, total shambles and is about to completely collapse because the legislature "reduced" funding. And yes, like most government math, this means they actually got MORE money, just not as much as they wanted.
For those who aren't familiar with government math, here's how to understand it: If you were earning $20.00 per hour and wanted to earn $25.00 per hour after your annual cost of living raise; but you only got a $2.00 per hour raise so that you were then earning $22.00 per hour -- that is, in government terms, a "pay cut" of $3.00 per hour. Going from $20.00 per hour to $22.00 per hour really is a pay cut, according to government math.
However, I think I
found their money:
Most UNC Chancellors Get Raises
"The UNC Board of Governors has approved raises of eight to 16% for its chancellors." Oh, and that 8-16%? That's ON TOP OF the 2% raise given to all state workers.
This is what happens when government is used for things it should not be. Government has ZERO business in education. They cannot do it right, they are only capable of wasting money that other people work for and earn.

New "Offensiveness"
In case you're not completely "up" with the latest in what's PC and what's not, note this gem from a Harper College student:
"If we're walking around and if people are looking at us and kind of looking at us suspiciously like is this what Muslim women are like? Are they oppressed? That directly offends us"
Yes, you read that right. Now if you look at someone and wonder what they are like, that is now offensive. You can no longer wonder if a person is oppressed, or they will be offended.
Someone call the thought police, we've discovered a new crime.

Carolina Renaissance Festival
Well, it's finally over. The Carolina Renaissance Festival started October 1 this year and ended yesterday, November 13th. I've been to a few different festivals like this one, but I really like the Carolina Fair -- it's rather large.
This is the first year I ever purchased season tickets -- and I got my money's worth, going at least one day every weekend they were open. I have to say, I really, really enjoyed the festival. Two of my all-time favorites are Dexter Tripp, and
The London Broil. If you ever get a chance to see either of these acts, take it -- they're both absolutely worth it!
Afterwards, I was wondering what it was about this fair that made it so much fun...

Ohhh, don't say that about the bellydancers, Ogre...We (yes, I am one of the CRF bellydancers)love the guys, of course, but our primary reason for dancing is not to make fellas drool. We do it because we love it, and we're proud of the fact that we come in all different shapes, ages and colors. And we especially love that we give a lot of women the confidence to get up and move and not be ashamed of their size or shape (which sadly is often what keeps them from getting exercise in the first place).
While we're creating a society that is absent fear, why don't we create one that appreciates women in all their shapes...the slender and the "juicy" and everything in between?
As far as I see it - if you can move like that who cares what size you are?
Annnyway, don't mean to preach, just thought I'd defend my sisters, lol!

I can certainly appreciate the ability to dance the way you folks do (thanks a lot for stopping by, Ahalam, really!). And I am sure it does take practice and skill to be able to do it (I am more like the guy who was the MC of that show -- people would pay me NOT to try it).
But, well... let's just say that one dancer had a costume that was sheer and black that covered her belly the day I went and another one perhaps would have been better served if she had done that as well...
Seriously, though, thanks for helping to put on a really great fair this year! I did only get to the see the belly dancers once (the neat sword dance) because the schedule was such that your show was always on when I was at Dexter's show!

Thanks Ogre...no harm no foul.
I am trying to think which dancer that would have been (there are 12 of us total over both days of a weekend), but in deference to your opinion as an audience member (and after all we are hired there to entertain, so it would be remiss of me to just ignore your preference), we will try to encourage the belly covers next year. We all (even the skinny minnies like me) do actually like the belly covers a lot, and if it's cool out we generally all wear them, but it does get a bit hot (chiffon doesn't breath well) if it's warm outside. This year was warmer than normal through almost the entire run - usually we only have two weekends of heat and then it cools off.
Glad you liked the sword dance! You'll have to try to make it to the last show of the day next year - we play with fire.

To be completely honest, I think the sheer belly covers (that just sounds odd) actually add to the appearance and even sensuality of the costime...but then again, I represent the drooling, knuckle-dragging, male part of the audience.
Thanks for stopping by again -- maybe I'll have to stop by and introduce myself next year. I'll be the one dressed as a pirate on pirate day, so I'll be easy to spot, right?

Ahlam is correct...belly dancers come in all shapes and sizes and actually most of the ones at CRF are in the smaller variety, but let me assure this is a most difficult dance...I play with the dancers in the morning and actually took a set of lessons from them last year...
After "play" dancing with the belly dancers for 8 years I felt like a real clutz in class only to be reminded I had only had 5 hours of class....it takes years to have the muscle control to be as good as those gals are.
Look forward to seeing you out there next year Orge...come dance with us in the morning...we encourage it.

Religious War Continues
No matter how many times you claim that Islam is a "Religion of Peace," it doesn't change the fact that IT IS NOT.
Muslims want to destroy anyone who disagrees with them. That's what they do. Those who are Muslims who do not are the exception. It's not the radicals who kill and destroy, it's the mainstream of that religion. If you are Muslim and disagree with destroying the infidel, you are in the vast minority of that religion.
And yes, the Muslims are
still rioting and looting in France, despite the news blackout. The French news outlets believe that if they don't report it, it's not really happening.

"Overnight, the number of car-torchings — a barometer of the unrest — dropped sharply, with youths setting fire to 284 vehicles, compared to 374 the previous night, police said Monday. There were no clashes between police and rioters.
"The lull is confirmed," national police spokesman Patrick Hamon said. A week ago, 1,400 cars were incinerated in a single night."
Only 284 cars torched. This is good news? I am missing something. Do they dance around the May pole when they hit 200?
I wonder what the headlines would read if 10 cars were burned in the USA.

That has been their rallying point in the news repeatedly! Every time there are less cars burned in a single night, that's good news. If there's more cars burned on one night than the last, it's NO news.

I don't know this reminds me of the second through fourth crusades done by Christians or the Inquisition. Every religion has a time of upheaval even the pacifist Buddist have a time when fundamentalism existed and people died.
I would still like to see it handled though, preferably peacefully, but only time will tell.
Posted by: Arbitratorofall at November 14, 2005 01:25 PM (/k+l4)
4
However, Arbitratorofall, it's been a thousand years since Christianity has participated in such acts. And, Judeo-Christian Scripture has NEVER condoned massive violence like Islam does.
Peaceful resolution, while ideal, is unrealistic. Those rioting will only be subdued once they have achieved all of their objectives (an Islamic France), or until they've been subdued. I think the latter situation is more likely.
Posted by: Stevin at November 14, 2005 01:45 PM (LfL8N)
5
I'd like to see it handled peacefully, too, but as Stevin points out -- it's just not an option. Yes, it takes two to fight, but when one won't stop violence, the only way to end is either kill or be killed.
Posted by: Ogre at November 14, 2005 01:59 PM (/k+l4)
6
Yes I agree with the time difference but nothing is to say that Christians did not protest violence. You pointed to Judeo-Christian which took power after the original form of Christains (forgot the offical title) lost favor. This only includes the US, Canada, England, and small parts of Europe. The rest are still Catholic or Greek Orthadox which is closer to the old ways. Many condoned the acts of the later Crusades and of the Inquisition. The old teachings never sided with violence or against violence. Besides Moses told the Isralites to burn and destroy all other forms of religion resulting in the destruction of the Cannites. This was a complete destruction including the people, places, and culture. The Bible does mention wars to destroy an entire people so perhaps they stradled the fences and hoped their teachings of peace and love would move people away from it.
Also, don't forget most of the rioters are under 25 which in France has been called "The Forgotten Generation" due to lack of say in government. Those people are more impressionable by those older as has happened in other places even the US.

Eminent Domain Supporters in NC
The executive director of the "North Carolina League of Municipalities," one Ellis Hankins, comes out in support of eminent domain and the Kelo vs. New London decision.
When asked about getting a constitutional amendment that would make it clear that government would not be allowed to take private property for economic development, he said that he opposed any such move because "it's not needed."
Supporting him on the total socialist party line is Steve Rose, staff attorney at the General Assembly. He says that nobody much cares if you get in there and knock down a slum," referring to the state laws that allow government to take property in blighted areas for redevelopment.
Obviously, Mr. Rose hasn't visited Charlotte where the city council routinely condemns any place they want to take for their own uses, whether it be for government development or as kickbacks and paybacks to big political donors and their friends.
Freedom takes yet another hit in North Carolina with strong agreement to crush said freedom by numerous people in various walks of life. Oh, how I yearn for freedom.

The Bear
On a tour of Alaska, the Pope took a couple of days off to visit the mountains for some sight seeing. He was cruising along the campground in the Pope-mobile when there was a frantic commotion just at the edge of the woods. A helpless Democrat, wearing sandals, shorts, a "Save the Whales" T-shirt and a Tree Hugger Hat, was struggling frantically, thrashing around trying to free himself from the jaws of a 10 foot grizzly. As the Pope watched horrified, a group of Republican loggers came racing up.
One quickly fired a .44 magnum into the bear's chest. The other two reached up and pulled the bleeding semiconscious Democrat from the bear. Then using long clubs, the three loggers beat the bear to death and two of them threw it onto the bed of their truck while the other tenderly placed the injured Democrat in the back seat.
As they prepared to leave, the Pope summoned them to come over. "I give you my blessing for your brave actions!" he told them. "I heard there was a bitter hatred between loggers and environmental activists, but now I've seen with my own eyes is not true."
As the Pope drove off, one of the loggers asked his buddies "Who was that guy ?"
"It was the Pope," another replied, "he's in direct contact with God and has access to all God's wisdom."
"Well," the logger said, "he may have access to all God's wisdom, but he sure doesn't know anything about bear hunting..... By the way, is the bait holding up okay or do we need to go back to town and grab another one?
