New "Offensiveness"

In case you're not completely "up" with the latest in what's PC and what's not, note this gem from a Harper College student:

"If we're walking around and if people are looking at us and kind of looking at us suspiciously like is this what Muslim women are like? Are they oppressed? That directly offends us"

Yes, you read that right. Now if you look at someone and wonder what they are like, that is now offensive. You can no longer wonder if a person is oppressed, or they will be offended.

Someone call the thought police, we've discovered a new crime.

1 Someone is offended by their own paranoia?

Poor things.

2 Yeah, well, they better get used to it 'cause if I see one of 'em, I'm starin' 'n wonderin' if they've got a bomb belt under all those draperies.

3 You are both insensitive, homophobic, radical hate-mongers -- at least according to those who want to rule your life (politicians, PC police, all of higher education).

But thanks for stopping by!

4 I often wonder if they're wearing matching socks, or if the milk in their fridge has expired.

Apparently, they're so sensitive to the cursory glances of passers-by, they've forgotten to analyze the actions of their fellow worshipers, those who turn themselves into bombs with legs. Fine, let 'em be offended. I'm still going to keep a wary eye on them.

5 Hmpf. Guess that means I should be offended if a man stares at my boobs. Oh wait...

{{sigh}}

6 I think it's the milk.

Oh, and VW, you're only partially right there -- for decades now you've been able to be offended if people look at your boobs. NOW, however, you can be offended if someone wonders about your boobs, without even looking at them!

No, I'm not sure how you're supposed to know they're wondering about your boobs since they're not looking at them, but I guess that doesn't matter. In fact, now, after this comment, I bet everyone reading it IS wondering about your boobs, so everyone reading this is now officially offending VW.

7 Um, er, Sorry VW. Can we settle this out of court?

Posted by: Tomslick at November 15, 2005 08:59 AM (xNjHI)

8 Don't settle, VW, John Edwards claims to live in my state, I'll call him for you!

Posted by: Ogre at November 15, 2005 09:56 AM (/k+l4)

9 Well I'm offended they think that I actually care enough about them to even waste a moments thought about them, let alone wonder what they are like.

10 Did you think about the fact that they might care that you might not care about them being offended? Congratulations, you're an offender (I think...)

11 Ogre - I apologize for offending your blog with my oppressive gaze.

VW - Ditto for your boobs :-)

12 We will both be expecting a check for the full settlement amount.
