Ford Motor is canceling plans for a large electric sport-utility vehicle and expects to take $1.9 billion in related special charges and write-downs, as automakers continue adjusting their EV plans because of softer-than-expected demand. For the record, the “softer-than-expected demand” for EVs was not unexpected by me, or by anyone else who is vaguely familiar with the driving needs of most Americans. It’s an indictment of the bubble in which our ruling class lives that they are surprised by consumer rejection of EVs. It’s also an indictment of the blistering incompetence of Jim Farley and his ilk, who believe that politicians and bureaucrats can decree what consumers should want, rather than listening to Ford’s dealers, who are on the front lines talking to actual consumers. Perhaps more significant is that commencement of vehicle production at the massive new EV manufacturing facility that Ford has been building outside Memphis – which was initially supposed to start producing electric pickup trucks in 2025 – has been postponed again. It was only a few months ago that Ford announced that production was being delayed until 2026, not due to construction delays, but due to consumer rejection of Ford’s EV offerings. That production-start date has now been pushed back again – this time until 2027. “Ford says production of electric pickup truck at Blue Oval City delayed until 2027” [ABC Memphis 24 - 8/21/2024]
Ford, which is losing millions on its current EVs, gave few details about the new products. But it said production of its next generation full-size electric pickup truck at Blue Oval City in West Tennessee will be delayed 18 months, until 2027.I have been writing about Ford’s “Blue Oval City” mess in various outlets, documenting not just Ford’s bad decisions, but also those of Tennessee politicians who threw a billion taxpayer dollars at this public-private sinkhole. This is from a piece of mine titled “Blue Oval Blues” at Tennessee Conservative News:

Yet as for the convention, and the willful blindness as to who and what the Democrat Party is, especially and most depressingly by Jews was on full display, not just during the convention but all over America in the wake of the savagery unleashed on Israel on 10/7 and most especially right here on our own soil in the weeks and months afterwards. Insult meet injury:
Some of the most convincing arguments to vote Republican for president, and most House and Senate seats, are coming straight from the Democratic National Convention. Here is Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) following some infamous advice to accuse the other side of that which you are guilty: As the highest-ranking Jewish elected official in American history, I want my grandkids and all grandkids to never, never face discrimination because of who they are. But Donald Trump— this is a guy who peddled antisemitic stereotypes. He even invited a white supremacist to Mar-a-Lago.
It is true that Trump met with Nick Fuentes, but Trump distanced himself from Fuentes when he learned of the young man’s background: “Kanye West very much wanted to visit Mar-a-Lago. Our dinner meeting was intended to be Kanye and me only, but he arrived with a guest whom I had never met and knew nothing about.” Now let’s take a look at the company Schumer keeps himself. Here, from the prominent race hustler Al Sharpton’s own Facebook page, is a picture of him with Senator Schumer. And Schumer isn’t just shaking hands with him to be polite. Here is what Schumer says on his own Facebook page. “Fellow Brooklynite Rev. Al Sharpton is a civil rights leader, minister, activist, and radio talk show host. Rev. Sharpton is the founder of the National Action Network, which fights for one standard of justice, decency, and equal opportunities for all people.” . . . This, American voters, is what Senator Charles Schumer calls an organization “which fights for one standard of justice, decency, and equal opportunities for all people.”
Sharpton also has some interesting words for Asians (“Chinamen” ), gay people (“Greek homos” and “punk faggots” ), and even black people he dislikes (the n-word). To this he added,
White folks was in the cave when we were building empires. We learned to admire them, but they knew to admire us. We built pyramids before Donald Trump ever knew what architecture was. We taught philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it.
Tell you what, Senator Schumer. When I hear Donald Trump call David Duke a civil rights leader, and depict the Ku Klux Klan as an organization “which fights for one standard of justice, decency, and equal opportunities for all people,” I may take you seriously. Until then, you, Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Kamala Harris, and many other prominent Democrats are the ones who posed with a race hustler and/or appeared at the National Action Network.
Al Sharpton is a racial arsonist who has the blood of innocents on his hands as his horrific rap sheet clearly shows. How anyone especially Jews can look at this man and not see it is beyond belief. That MSNBC can give him a platform is one reason I refer to it as MSNSDAP. And there he is front and center at the Democrat convention with Chuck Schumer heaping praise on him. Of course Schumer is Jewish by birth and his lot will surely be the Infernal Reaches. Praising Al Sharpton. While this is happening:
The longtime leader of the Anti-Defamation League, who now serves as director emeritus, expressed concern about Jews being forced to meet in "secret locations" at the Democratic National Convention due to security threats and anti-Semitism. "I know in my heart that in the future, it will be better, for Jews in America, then [sic] it is today. But I fear it will never be the same," said Abraham Foxman in a Twitter post on Wednesday. "After 50 years fighting anti-Semitism in America, I could not have imagined a time Jews would have to meet in secret locations in Chicago at DNC." Foxman, a Holocaust survivor, served as director of the Jewish civil rights organization from 1987 to 2015. The ADL is now run by Jonathan Greenblatt, a former Obama aide, who has steered it in a much more partisan direction. Foxman’s comments come as Jewish groups holding events on the sidelines of the convention have kept their meeting locations a closely guarded secret.WIth all due respect sir, that you let Jonathan Greenblatt, a hardcore leftist Obama acolyte, take over for you when you retired speaks volumes in and of itself. And considering you yourself are a Holocaust survivor to say "I know in my heart that in the future, it will be better, for Jews in America, then [sic] it is today. in the face of everything you witnessed in Chicago is insane. This is exactly what German Jews said about Germany in 1934 right after Hitler was elected and became Fuhrer. This is not just about Jews, my friends. This is about all of us if we continue on this trajectory that the Democrat/Socialist/Progressive/Left have put us on since Wilson, through FDR, LBJ and especially Obama and everyone who did nothing to stop them. Hopefully now Chucky can choke on his pastrami in peace. Have a good weekend.

Burnt Coffee and Strong Coffee are not Synonymous I love coffee, be it dark roast, medium roast, black, with cream and sugar, chicory, with steamed milk, iced, whatever. The only coffee I actively dislike is coffee that has sat on a burner and acquired that nasty, overcooked, rancid taste. That said, can we please stop equating dark roast coffee with strong coffee? My favorite is fresh ground, medium roast, arabica coffee, brewed strong and served black. Because restaurant / coffee shop coffee has historically been weakly brewed, medium-roast, robusta coffee, it is understandable that people associate medium-roast coffee with flavorlessness. It doesn’t have to be that way. My wake-up coffee is Dunkin whole bean coffee, ground fresh at home, and brewed strong. It is delicious, with a great depth of flavor that is absent in dark roasts. (But I don’t bother buying a cup of coffee when I’m at Dunkin because they don’t brew it strong enough for me.) Starbucks hasn’t helped the situation with their “Blonde” roast. Apparently reacting to people like me who prefer a good cup of non-burnt coffee, Starbucks came up with this “light roast” which is absolutely devoid of flavor. Maxwell House coffee brewed weakly and served from an urn in a church foyer has more flavor than Starbucks Blonde.

Get ready for a shock -- she will continue to avoid saying what her policies are, because her policies are bright bloody red and she knows the media will portray her as a Sensible Common-Sense Moderate. She doesn't have to lie or make promises to govern from the center, or even from the center-left.
She'll just keep relying on the media to lie for her. Then, if she's elected, she'll have made no commitments. She will have a free red hand. Bringing joy to mutual assured destruction.
It's like the worst game of Mad Libs ever where the only rule in the game is to connect everything to gays and conclude that gays are the most special creatures ever created.
A fresh hire within President Biden's Department of Energy previously wrote an op-ed about "queering nuclear weapons" -- in which she argued that "queer theory" was crucial to US nuclear policy. Sneha Nair co-authored the article just months before she was hired in February as a special assistant at the DOE's nuclear security wing, the National Nuclear Security Administration, noted Fox News, which first reported on it. In the wide-ranging piece, Nair argued that queer theory could "help change how nuclear practitioners, experts, and the public think about nuclear weapons" as she touched on the sprawling diversity, equity and inclusion ideology. The article -- titled "Queering nuclear weapons: How LGBTQ+ inclusion strengthens security and reshapes disarmament" -- also laid bare her belief that discrimination against queer people could "undermine nuclear security and increase nuclear threat."
The authors of this very important paper:
"It's about people. Equity and inclusion for queer people is not just a box-ticking exercise in ethics and social justice; it is also essential for creating effective nuclear policy," she wrote in the piece published in the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. Nair -- a graduate of Prince William's alma mater, St. Andrews University -- argued that queer theory, which she defined as a look at "sex and gender-based norms," identified how nuclear weapons conversations were gendered. "Nuclear deterrence is associated with 'rationality' and 'security,' while disarmament and justice for nuclear weapon victims are coded as 'emotion' and a lack of understanding of the 'real' mechanics of security," she wrote. The article went on to say that the theory prioritizes the rights of people over "the abstract idea of national security -- and challenges the understanding of nuclear weapons. "The queer lens prioritizes the rights and well-being of people over the abstract idea of national security, and it challenges the mainstream understanding of nuclear weapons -- questioning whether they truly deter nuclear war, stabilize geopolitics, and reduce the likelihood of conventional war," she wrote. "Queer theory asks: Who created these ideas? How are they being upheld? Whose interests do they serve? And whose experiences are being excluded?"
Nair penned the piece while working as a nuclear research expert at the Stimson Center, a think tank based in Washington, DC. Her co-author, Louis Reitmann, was a research associate at the Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation.

Biden-Harris official says people with foreign connections should be given access to America's deep nuclear secrets as part of a diversity, equity and inclusion agenda.
Nair explicitly says that bolstering DEI is a national security matter. "DEI principles and advancement must be considered crucial assets for strengthening nuclear security implementation," Nair added. Nair's DEI agenda envisions expanding America's deep secrets to people with foreign connections, claiming those individuals were discouraged from applying as an issue of race bias. She said, "U.S. government reports show that qualified applicants with foreign ties have been discouraged from applying to sensitive national security positions and faced barriers to obtaining a security clearance. This is in part due to preconceived confirmation biases held by investigators about certain racial or ethnic groups." "Considerable progress has been made in advancing DEI in the nuclear field, but the largest obstacle remains in ensuring that nuclear security practitioners understand how DEI can serve as a tool to strengthen nuclear security," she said in the article. "Greater focus on the intersections between nuclear security and DEI is essential."She sounds like a foreign spy herself -- opening the doors for other, more competent foreign spies. If these people aren't doing real work -- and they're not -- then they have no business being paid by the taxpayer. The government is not supposed to exist merely to give fake jobs to useless Marxists who cannot secure work anywhere else.
Regarding race bias, Nair believes that White staff at nuclear facilities don't have the ability to properly evaluate threats from people of the same racial group, notably radical White supremacists. "Diversifying the perspectives included in nuclear security decision-making can expand the definition of who or what constitutes a 'threat' for nuclear security," she said. "The notion of 'threat' and 'security' are defined by the dominant culture, which inherently sidelines how marginalized groups ... perceive 'threats.'" Dominant culture is an academic concept about power which refers to how the U.S. has traditionally been shaped by White people. "An example of this is the threat posed by some White supremacist groups to nuclear facilities may go undetected if a White-majority workforce does not perceive these ideological leanings as indicators of a relevant nuclear security threat," she claimed. "[I]ntegrating DEI into nuclear security culture can help reimagine how each state's nuclear security regime understands 'threat' to ensure a comprehensive assessment of the security risks facing a facility," she concluded.

Via Anonasaurus Wrecks, all I can think of is some combination of the Star Trek replicators -- where you can download a Chick-Fil-A sandwich --and maybe some Smell-O-Vision technology.
Chick-Fil-A thinks it has one advantage to overcome its complete lack of experience in streaming or entertainment, period -- a "family-friendly" brand. Certainly a streamer that appeals to traditionalists, Christians, and normies would have very little competition in the leftwing sewers of current streaming content. But -- hasn't Chick-Fil-A substantially pissed away all of its goodwill among traditionalists and Christians with its endless donations to "Pride" organizations? Well, I guess we'll see. Because Deadline says Chick-Fil-A is serious about "hatching" this scheme and that it will soon come home to roost. They made some puns. I forbid you from following in their terrible example. No chicken or bird puns in this thread!Chick-Fil-A is moving aggressively into the entertainment space with plans to launch a slate of originals for its own streaming platform. Deadline understands that the fast-food firm has been working with a number of major production companies, including some of the studios, to create family-friendly shows, particularly in the unscripted space. It is also in talks to license and acquire content. We hear that this includes a family-friendly gameshow from Glassman Media, the company behind NBC's The Wall, and Michael Sugar's Sugar23, which is behind series such as Netflix's 13 Reasons Why. Deadline understands this show has been handed a ten-episode order. Budgets on the unscripted side are believed to be in the range of $400,000 per half-hour. Sources told us the idea is to launch later this year and there's also talk of scripted projects and animation. ... One source told Deadline that it was a positive move for the reality TV industry, which has been struggling in recent years, and another source added it was a good opportunity, comparing it to branded content. No, McDonald's and Burger King could have branded content, but not Chick-Fil-A. Okay that was a dumb pun but no more are allowed. Here are some trailers. I ask the eternal question: Is this something? So we've had 80s nostalgia and then some (but not as much as you'd expect) 90s nostalgia. Now comes a movie with a very specific time-based exploitation: 1999/year 2000 nostalgia, plus a "What if Y2K was a real thing?" Unfortunately, that movie stars Rachel Zegler. Weird, weird! Now I'm rooting for the apocalypse. This is interesting: An anime-styled War of the Rohirrim animated movie. It's the Riders of Rohan, but 260 years before the Lord of the Rings age, when they fought non-magical opponents, the Dunlendings (IIRC). Someone said the Rohirrim are like the Anglo-Saxon Vikings, and the Dunlendings are like the Celts/Britons the Rohirrim conquered. Not sure I want to root for Rohan if that's the case. It's the age of Helm Hammerhand, after whom Helm's Deep is named. I think I've read that Helm Hammerhand was a huge warrior who could punch people to death and who, during sieges, would sneak out alone into the enemy's camp to silently strangle them to death. For some reason... Eowyn is in it? How? The article must be confused about that. I guess they threw in giant elephants and giant eagles because without stuff like that this would be a Medieval fantasy movie without any actual fantasy elements. Caution: Contains a lot of Girlbossing.

Say, didn't pro-Hamas terrorists spread maggots and roaches around the hotel where Netanyahu was staying at?
Indeed, they did commit this act of grossly antisemitic bioterrorism. CBS "News" played this as a fun prank, and even began their article about this disgusting biohazard vandalism with a "funny" pun.It seems a new kind of bugging situation has hit the Watergate Hotel. Video posted on Wednesday showed a large number of maggots, crickets and other bugs crawling around the hotel, which is where Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is staying during his contentious visit to Washington, D.C. The Palestinian Youth Movement, a grassroots advocacy group, posted an Instagram video of the critters, claiming they were let loose in protest of Israel's deadly war against Hamas, which has killed more than 39,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza officials. The video shows maggots inching across what appears to be a large conference table covered in a white tablecloth with water glasses, set against the backdrop of American and Israeli flags. It also shows the insects scurrying across marble floors elsewhere in the hotel as well as fire alarms going off in the hotel's hallways. So funny! And now it happens at the Democrat National Convention.
Democratic convention-goers were shocked when maggots were found during a breakfast service at a Chicago hotel, prompting an FBI investigation into the apparent activism-related disruption. Key Details: Maggots discovered during breakfast at a DNC-related event in Chicago. Fairmont Chicago hotel confirmed the disruption and immediate sanitation efforts. FBI is investigating possible connections to recent activism-related incidents. Diving Deeper: Democratic National Convention attendees were met with an unsettling and unsanitary surprise on Wednesday morning when maggots were discovered in the breakfast service at the Fairmont Chicago hotel. The incident, which has prompted an investigation by the FBI, occurred at a hotel hosting state delegates from Indiana, Minnesota, Ohio, Missouri, and South Dakota. A spokesperson for the Fairmont Chicago hotel, Haley Robles, confirmed the disruption, stating, "We can confirm that a group of individuals caused a disruption at a DNC-related breakfast event at our hotel this morning. Our team acted immediately to clean and sanitize the area, ensuring that the event could continue without further incident."

I am so sick of the endless sedition by the Deep State.
The FBI confirmed that Iran was responsible for hacking Donald Trump's presidential campaign, attempting to disrupt both parties' efforts in the 2024 election. Key Details: The FBI and U.S. intelligence agencies confirmed Iran's involvement in the hack. The Trump campaign was notified by Microsoft on August 10 about the breach. Iran's actions aimed to influence the 2024 election by targeting both presidential campaigns. Diving Deeper: According to Just the News, the FBI, along with other U.S. intelligence agencies, confirmed on Monday that Iran was behind the recent hacking of former President Donald Trump's presidential campaign. The hack, first reported by the Trump campaign on August 10 after being notified by Microsoft, has sparked a federal investigation into the incident. In a joint statement, the FBI, Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) revealed that Iran had been conducting increasingly aggressive cyber operations during this election cycle. The agencies pointed out that Iran's activities were not limited to targeting Trump's campaign but also aimed at influencing the broader 2024 election process. They mention no efforts to hack Democrats' emails -- but claim Iran is trying to disrupt "both parties" just the same. Because they don't want to give Republicans the true talking point that the rabidly anti-American terrorist state Iran supports the Democrat Party.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is planning to drop out of the presidential race by the end of this week, sources familiar with the decision tell ABC News. Sources tell ABC News that Kennedy plans to endorse Donald Trump -- but when asked directly by ABC News if he will be endorsing the former president, Kennedy said, "I will not confirm or deny that." "We are not talking about any of that," he said. Here's my big-brained blogger take on that: A non-denial is not a denial. It's not my fault I just wrote that stupid sentence. You're the ones who come here. You know this is me working at peak levels.
For his part, Trump said he would be "honored" to have RFKJr.'s endorsement. He also points out that the Democrats have rigged the election against RFKJr.
Sources cautioned the decision is not yet finalized and could still change, with one source adding that Kennedy's hope is, in part, to finalize things quickly in order to try to blunt momentum from the Democratic National Convention. One possible scenario being discussed is for Kennedy to appear on stage with Trump at an event in Phoenix on Friday, though the sources cautioned that Kennedy's thinking could always change and sources close to Trump say no plan for Friday is finalized.
Former President Trump spoke to "FOX & Friends" on Thursday about whether Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. might drop out of the race and endorse him. "He is a very good person. If he endorsed me, I would be honored by it. I would be very honored by it. He really has his heart in the right place. He is a respected person," Trump said. "But, overall, I thought the Democrats, he was a Democrat, I don't know what he is right now. But he was a Democrat. They treated him very badly. I think he would have, he goes around saying he would have beaten [President] Biden in the primary. I think there was a good chance," Trump said.I thought that RFKJr.'s running mate, Nicole Sheridan, would object to this and throw a wrench into the works. She's a far-left San Francisco tech millionaire, after all. But no, she's on board, and she's spitting fire about the rigged election:
Kennedy's running mate, Nicole Shanahan, recently told Fox News that they were considering dropping out and endorsing Trump. She added that "there's only one party that has obstructed a fair election for us, and unfortunately it was the Democratic Party."Video of that below. Kennedy will be speaking in Phoenix tomorrow at 2pm Eastern, or 11 am local time. Trump is speaking in the neighboring suburb of Glendale that evening. I thought that Trump might join RFKJr. on the stage to accept the endorsement, but that seems dangerous: RFKJr.'s people will be deeply disappointed he's dropping out, and will not be receptive to seeing Trump take their dreams away. But this report by Colin Rugg is almost certainly correct: Kennedy will speak at his own rally in the morning, and then speak at Trump's rally that evening.

I guess that might indicate a lack of enthusiasm.
However, there's a reason the headline mentions 2016 rather than 2020 -- viewership is slightly up from 2020, and Biden came close enough in that one to steal it.The Democratic National Convention (DNC) saw a 22% decline in viewership compared to 2016, despite a slight increase from 2020 numbers. President Biden's late-night speech and the DNC's efforts to attract younger audiences couldn't match the engagement levels from previous years. Key Details: Viewership Drop: The DNC drew around 20 million viewers, down 22% from 2016, but slightly up from 2020. Biden's Speech: President Biden's late-night speech likely impacted overall viewership, attracting 19.1 million viewers. Network Ratings: MSNBC led viewership across networks with 4.6 million viewers, followed by CNN and ABC. Diving Deeper: The Democratic National Convention's opening night on Monday drew approximately 20 million viewers, according to Nielsen ratings, reflecting a significant 22% drop from the 2016 convention. This decrease comes despite a slight increase from the 2020 DNC numbers. President Joe Biden's speech, which marked his final convention address as the leader of the Democratic Party, was scheduled late on the East Coast, likely contributing to lower viewership. The speech, which aired from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. ET, drew around 19.1 million viewers. The event was broadcast across 13 networks, with MSNBC leading the pack, attracting 4.6 million viewers. CNN and ABC followed with 3.2 million and 2.8 million viewers, respectively. Fox News, CBS, and NBC also pulled in significant numbers, but none reached the highs seen in past conventions.Speaking of stealing the election: the Biden-Harris DOJ is pleading to allow non-citizens to vote in swing-state Arizona.
The Biden-Harris Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday requested the U.S. Supreme Court "deny" Republicans' bid to enforce an Arizona law requiring individuals to prove they're U.S. citizens when registering and voting in elections. Arguing on behalf of the administration, U.S. Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar requested that the nation's highest court instead allow a lower court decision -- one prohibiting the implementation of provisions of the statute in question -- to remain in effect for the November election. As The Federalist previously reported, the 2022 law mandated residents to show documentary proof of citizenship (DPOC) when registering via state voter registration forms. The statute also required such proof for individuals submitting mail-in ballots and voting in presidential contests. If you have no proof of your right to vote, you can only vote in federal elections. Perfect. This strange result comes because the 9th Circuit is on shaky ground setting aside rules for state elections, so they restricted their decision to federal voting.
(In Arizona, individuals who do not provide DPOC when registering to vote are permitted to do so as "federal-only voters" and cast ballots in federal elections).
The Republican National Committee and Arizona's GOP legislative leadership filed an emergency application with the Supreme Court on Aug. 8, asking the justices to place a stay on the lower 9th Circuit Court's decision and allow the law's DPOC requirements to take effect for the 2024 election. Nearly half the country's state attorneys general and several conservative organizations have since filed amicus briefs with the high court requesting a stay be issued.
Happy Friday Ever, everyone!

Now They're Pressuring Her to Support Hamas' War on Israel.
Many influencers were paid off with money, but some want a more pro-terrorist policy from Kamala, too.
Pro-Palestinian influencers have intensified their social media campaigns against Vice President Kamala Harris, urging her to adopt a tougher stance on Israel as the presidential race. Key Details: Influencer Ahmed Eldin, with 1.1 million followers, has consistently criticized Harris's support for Israel on social media. Influencers like Rosy Pirani have shifted their content focus to the Gaza conflict, significantly increasing their followings. The online campaigns are pressuring Harris to distance herself from Biden's policies on Israel, appealing to young voters disillusioned with the administration's stance. Diving Deeper: According to the Wall Street Journal, within hours of President Biden announcing his decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential race and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee, pro-Palestinian influencers mobilized online to pressure Harris into adopting a more critical stance on Israel. Leading the charge is Ahmed Eldin, a former journalist of Palestinian descent, who took to Instagram to highlight Harris's past affiliations with Israeli leaders, urging his 1.1 million followers to intensify their scrutiny of her positions. Eldin's Instagram feed has since been dominated by content condemning Harris's stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict, accusing her of complicity in the violence against Gaza. This is part of a broader movement by pro-Palestinian influencers who have used social media to rally young voters and others disillusioned by the Biden administration's unwavering support for Israel.Unwavering support for Israel? Seriously, MXMNews?
... Rosy Pirani, another prominent pro-Palestinian influencer, has seen her following on Instagram triple since she began focusing on the Gaza conflict. A lifelong Democrat of South Asian descent, Pirani was once known for her lighthearted content. However, her recent posts have taken on a more serious tone, sharing graphic images from Gaza and calling out Harris and Biden for their perceived inaction. As the Democratic Party's convention takes place in Chicago, Harris finds herself in a difficult position. While she has called for a cease-fire and criticized Israel's actions, her continued support for Israel's right to defend itself, in line with Biden's policies, has not gone unnoticed by pro-Palestinian activists. The influence of social media in shaping public opinion, particularly among younger Americans, has become undeniable. A Pew Research Center survey found that people under 30 are almost as likely to trust social media as they are national news outlets. This shift in trust, coupled with the raw, emotional content shared by influencers, has created a formidable challenge for Harris and the Democratic Party as they navigate the 2024 election.
I heard about this last week: Black TikTok is getting angry at Muslim Terrorist TikTok for refusing to vote for their (half-black) girl over demands that Kamala expressly support Hamas in its war on Israel. I didn't write this up, because I don't know how to search TikTok. And anyway, it's not my job. It's America's Oldest Teenager Taylor Lorenz's job. Of course, she's not covering it, because it would hurt her precious Democrat Media Fascist Party. This Telegraph article writes of the "coming Hamas split" in the left's ranks.
Let them fight.
Is the partnership between African-Americans and pro-Palestine activists rapidly beginning to unravel? Are Black activists finally realizing their anti-racism agenda has been co-opted by Hamas-loving terror-deniers with whom they have little or nothing in common? And will this unholy alliance finally come to a violent crescendo this week at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago -- where 100,000 anti-Israel protesters intend to disrupt the coronation of America's first female/Black/Indian-American presidential candidate? That's the tantalizing prospect as influencer-advocates from both sides begin to clash over competing -- and fundamentally incompatible -- visions for their self-described liberation struggles. And while this conflict may involve a rainbow tribe of anti-Israel agitators, the skirmishes between Black Americans and Arab-Americans reveal the fragile fault lines among the intersectional far Left. Take a series of social media posts on TikTok last week. In them, Arab activist-influencers -- many raw and unhinged -- essentially demand their Black counterparts abandon campaigning for Kamala Harris because of her support for the "genocide" in Gaza. "The way y'all switched up and did a 180 on Palestinians ... the second we have a black woman run for office is disgusting," declared TikTok user @dan1ahan. "Keep Palestinians' names out of your f-cking mouth when defending your decision to vote for Kamala," added an Arab-American creator menacingly, in typical woke Gen-Z vulgarity. True, Harris has repeatedly insisted that Israel has a right to defend itself and yes she's yet to agree to an arms embargo against Jerusalem. But Harris also been far more critical of Israel's Gaza campaign than her boss, President Biden, and has repeatedly called for a ceasefire. She would also be much more likely to facilitate that ceasefire than her Republican rival, Donald Trump, who's indicated he supports Israel's "total victory" strategy in Gaza. But like so many "woke" causes, committing to Palestine demands complete fealty and allegiance -- even at the expense of your own best interests. And so the TikTokers -- many hysterical and ranting through tears -- accuse their Black American allies of nothing less than treason for wanting one their own to win the White House. ... Similar allegations of race betrayal were meted out to a Black Vanderbilt University officer during yet another pro-Palestinian melee that same month. "You are Black in America, and you're not standing with the marginalized people of the world," the protestors shouted at him. "What does that make you?" ... "We spend our money with you ... we stand in solidarity with you, and you keep asking for more ... it's never enough," one Black tiktoker retorted. "These are people who feel like they are entitled to the support of Black people no matter what," she continues. "That they get to push us around and tell us who the hell we get to vote for ... they've lost their minds." ... For Black people -- particularly Black women, the most loyal Democratic voting block -- Harris's ascent feels nothing less than miraculous. But for pro-Palestinian groups, Harris is nothing less than calamitous. "It's not going to make a difference, that [Harris] represents this administration," said Hatem Abudayyeh, chair of the US Palestinian Community Network. "We're going to stay full steam ahead."

For all the recent finger-wagging between Democrats and Republicans over who’s the weirdest, the runaway winner in the weirdo Olympics is Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Between the creepiness of his personal peccadillos to brain worms(!) to leaving a bear corpse in Central Park(!!), RFK Jr. is a very odd duck. . . . . . But he had a famous name, the faint whiff of legitimacy, and the bankroll of a billionaire (courtesy of his running mate, Nicole Shanahan). That combination isn’t enough to take you all the way to the finish line, but it certainly gets your foot in the door.I really cannot know what's in his heart and in his brain worm invaded mind. But the fact that his own party did not want him in a position to potentially become president must mean he recognizes as we all do that the Democrats are not what they were, or that their mythology pimped them as. That is the supposed party of the people and oppressed. Despite the fact that he chose a hardcore leftist as his running mate (more a political move to gain the seal of approval and votes of those within the base that aren't thrilled with Biden. RFK Jr. strikes me as someone that can be reasoned with on issues like the first amendment, big government overreach and fascistic cronyism vis a vis the vaccine mandates. So, that's not a bad thing in the long run. Will the scales fall from RFK Jr.'s eyes and will he finally shed his red diapers? That might be a tall ask, but it has happened to others in the past, and given what he has personally endured throughout his life, it's a possibility. As for right now, endorsing Trump is a net positive. Because the inevitable attacks from the Dems will put a spotlight on his positions and stand in further stark contrast to their own disastrous policies, which are turning off quite a large number of their own base at a most inopportune moment. Election-thievery and rigging notwithstanding. And with that, the interminable Nuremberg rally redux that is the DNC 2024 grinds on.
And that was enough to terrify the Democrats.
So they conspired to undermine his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination. Just as they did to protect Hillary Clinton, they rigged the rules and tilted the playing field. This is what they do. In the past, other Democrats bent their knees accordingly and went along with it (looking at you, Bernie Sanders), and the Democrats assumed RFK Jr. would do the same.
. . .Statisticians and pollsters are still crunching the numbers (and arguing over what they mean), but most evidence indicates that RFK Jr. leaving the race would benefit Donald Trump.
But that’s not going to be the true benefit of his endorsement. It’s actually bigger than that.
This is the week of the Democratic National Convention — the Democrats’ high-water mark. Their entire strategy is to use Kamala Harris’s acceptance speech to kick off their campaign in earnest, delivering Democrats up and down the ticket the momentum they’ll need to carry them to November. And you can bet your bottom dollar that among the key messages in Harris’s speech will be “us versus them” — the power of light to defeat the darkness of evil. (It’s interesting: For all the talk about the GOP being influenced by organized religion, Democrats speak in apocalyptic prose so often, it’s almost a cliché. They might not believe in Revelations, but they sure love the imagery.)
In politics, momentum is an elusive thing. Sometimes, when you lose it, you never get it back.
The value of a potential RFK Jr. endorsement is that it’s deadweight on the Democrats’ post-convention momentum. He saps their rocket fuel. Next week, instead of everyone talking about the DNC and how beautiful/intelligent/Obama-y Harris was, people will be talking, at least in part, about RFK Jr.’s endorsement.
Have a good day, everyone.

- Microsoft is planning to try again with its obviously insane Windows "Total" Recall spyware system. (Ars Technica)
This is the feature - key to the so-called Copilot Plus platform - that takes screenshots of everything you do on your computer - passwords, bank account details, confidential emails - and puts them in a single conveniently labelled and indexed box for AI assistants and Russian/Chinese/North Korean/Iranian hackers to search for you.
The database will now require you to log in with Windows Hello to access it, where before it was an all-you-can-eat data buffet for any application running on your computer."Security continues to be our top priority and when Recall is available for Windows Insiders in October we will publish a blog with more details," reads today's update to Microsoft Windows and Devices Corporate Vice President Pavan Davuluri's blog post.
The lie detector detected that that was a lie.
Fortunately - for now - this won't function at all unless you have a new CPU with a neural processing unit capable of at least 40 trillion operations per second. Desktop processors - even brand new ones like AMD's Ryzen 9950X - don't have that.
