I happen to like Manos. If Hal Warren had hired a decent scriptwriter, it could have been something. There is a very interesting concept at the core of the story.

At the risk of breaking the 100 comment rule, I loved how whenever Bat was up against a gang of ruffians, he would always kill the henchmen but merely wing the leader.

I was going to say that the only item of clothing I have with a paisley print is one of my ties. Then I recalled the dark green casual dress shirt with little subtly-rendered amoebas all over it.

There were a lot of reasons why I had a hard time finding stuff I liked to wear in the '70s. Paisley stuff on men's clothing was one of them.

I was just considering the other day where the names of the major car marques had come from. My conclusion: mostly people's names. Chevrolet, Ford, Chrysler, Benz, Porsche, Cadillac, Pontiac, Olds(mobile), Buick. Mercury was a Roman god, but that was a personal name too. Dodge was from the Dodge Brothers. Plymouth? From Plymouth Rock, or Plymouth, England?

Models, however, ranged all over the place from predatory or fierce animals (Jaguar, Mustang, Barracuda) to names that sounded luxurious like Monterey and Montclair and Windsor.

"Volkswagen" was an outlier -- the "People's Car." And "Dacia" -- the Roman name for Romania? Oookay.

LOL. It's odd. I did an interview with a place where I *really* want to work (and I'm even hopeful, for now). The interview process was complicated for various reasons. The department secretary coordinated it and she was extremely informal in communications. Lots of exclamation marks and emojis in E-Mails, etc.

She was also hugely polite and helpful and responsive. She did a great job, other than the informality of language. She was spectacular in every other respect, and I seriously appreciated her help. During the interview, the hiring manager and I walked by her office (I saw her name on the door) and I begged a moment to step in and say, "thank you."

I expected a woman in her twenties. I found a woman in her early fifties. I was astonished.

All the weight is in the rear. In the winter, I would put a bag of quick-crete in the trunk. The earlier A-frame rear suspension ones were the deathtraps. The '65+ with trailing arms were OK. Unless you massively overpowered it like your buddy did.

I don't think there was an "existing 5 speed" during the Vega's lifetime. But it was a good looking small call, kind of like a junior Camaro, and it did have a 4 speed. Chevy made an upmarket car on the same platform, called the Monza, and it was a available with a 262 cubic inch small block. I had one for a while.

It's a realistic discussion that needs to be had. I'm fine including vaccines and hormones and any other variables.

You're quite possibly not wrong but all in all I'd rather see those who I consider to be "my" people having more kids than not either way.

I mentor *a lot* of young women professionally, which is - well, definitely a dicey thing these days. But a lot of them are close enough friends of the family that they're in the "yeah you can crash here any time unannounced" category. We've warned all of them about waiting until they're 40 to have kids and while they don't outright reject it, they also don't seem to understand the full seriousness of it. This "have kids after doing career stuff" thing has been fucking awful in every society it's popped up in.

The problem for me is yes, I like for Americans to have more kids, but I'm not sure we should encourage women to have kids that would be subject to 80 years of a mental disorder or physical ailments when they could just have their kids when they're 20-25.
