Christians Stand Up

Every now and then, someone public stands up for their beliefs. Today, that person is almost never a member of government -- unfortunately. When the PC crowd comes calling, most government, institutions, and businesses cave in right away. The cry of "intolerance" usually brings most institutions to their knees. But not Bob Jones University.

A group of gays came to this private institution and wanted to force those people to agree with them. They wanted "dialogue" to force the people there to be intolerant of themselves. As usual, the gay agenda includes not allowing anyone to disagree with you.

Most of the time, institutions cave when these people come calling because they're simply afraid of being called "homophobic" -- a made-up word that really doesn't have any more meaning than calling gays "heterophobic." But usually an institution can be counted on to give in rather than "suffer" bad press, etc. Instead, Bob Jones University stood on their own principles:

As Bible-believing Christians, our faith and practice is based on Scripture which speaks consistently on the subject of sexual expression in many passages through both the Old and New Testaments. Therefore, Soulforce's ultimate disagreement is not with BJU or any other institution that holds to the Scriptural position, but with Scripture itself.

We can't grant open forums and discussions to a group whose expressed purpose is to undermine the clear teachings of Jesus Christ.

Nicely done, Bob Jones University. It is indeed refreshing to see someone stand up to these radicals who want to force their opinions on people, whether they want them or not. Keep up the good work.

Kerry Morgan Beats a Ban

Smoking bans are all the rage now. More and more Democrat legislators and leftists around the world are making smoking illegal. People are being fined left and right and businesses are being forced to shut down. But the leftists live in a dream world and they're not going to let anyone intrude on their version of reality.

Leftists/Democrats also claim they support people. They claim over and over again that they're the "uniters." But as Kelly Morgan, from Wales, shows; they're actually dividing people -- and that is actually what the left desires.

Kelly Morgan wanted to sit in a pub, drink a beer, and have a smoke. Well, you can't do that any more in Wales (and soon in Charlotte and all of North Carolina). He decided the lawmakers were a bunch of wankers, so he just built his own damn pub. Of course, if it was a typical pub, he'd have to follow their laws -- so it's a completely free pub for all his friends and family.

So this is what the left does to people -- it splits them, divides them, and attempts to take away any freedom because, in the view of the leftist, you're not smart enough to know what's good for you. In this case, the left has decided that if you smoke, you're stupid, and you won't stop on your own, so they're going to force you to stop.

How'd that prohibition on alcohol work out?

People yearn for freedom. Democrat oppression can only last so long because people just aren't going to tolerate it. They're going to find ways to be free, despite Democrats. So, NC Democrats, go ahead, ban smoking. Crush freedom. Destroy businesses. Drive people to bankrupcy -- they're going to smoke anyway.

ACLU Loses Court Battle to DoD and Boy Scouts

IRVING, Texas, April 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire

Boy Scouts of America is pleased that the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit dismissed the ACLU's lawsuit against the Department of Defense for supporting the National Scout Jamboree.

For more than 25 years, Boy Scouts have held the National Scout
Jamboree every four years at Fort A.P. Hill near Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Scouts from all over the country camp together for ten days and participate
in activities emphasizing physical fitness, appreciation of the outdoors,
and patriotism. Seven Presidents have attended the Jamboree since President
Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1937. The Jamboree grounds at Fort A.P . Hill are
open to the public, and an estimated 300,000 visitors attended in 2005
along with 43,000 Scouts and their leaders. The 2010 Jamboree will
celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Boy Scouts of America.

The United States Congress has found that the military's logistical
support for the National Scout Jamboree is an incomparable training
opportunity for our armed forces. The Jamboree requires the construction,
maintenance, and disassembly of a "tent city" capable of supporting tens of
thousands of people for a week or longer.

Nevertheless, the ACLU sued the Department of Defense in 1999 over its
support for the Jamboree. In 2005, a federal district court in Chicago
concluded the Jamboree statute (10 U.S.C . section 2554) was
unconstitutional under the Establishment Clause because Scouting has a
nonsectarian "duty to God" requirement. DoD appealed the district court's injunction against military support under that statute for the 2010
Jamboree.

I'm having difficulty keeping up with the court, ACLU and Americans United.

The court rules, the Boy Scout's "nonsectarian" "duty to God" requirement is unconstitutional. The ACLU is saying that prayers offered at council meetings must be "nonsectarian" to be constitutional.
Then in more confusion, in the same article, the ACLU said; "It should not invoke the name of a particular religious figure, such as Jesus, Allah or Buddah...", implying that they can't pray to Jesus but Mohammed is okay and they can pray to God but to Allah would be prohibited.

Americans United for the Separation of Church and State has no problem with prayer at a County Commissioners meetings so long as it isn't offered to a true Deity, such as Jesus Christ. Pray to rocks, trees and all the false gods you like, just stay away from the One True God. (an inadvertant acknowledgment of Christ and true religion, but an acknowledgment just the same)

Indiana Constitution

North Carolina Constitution

In today's ruling, the federal Court of Appeals in Chicago reversed the district court's decision, concluding that the taxpayers named as the plaintiffs in the lawsuit did not have standing to sue DoD in the first
place.

"We are pleased that today's ruling preserves the training opportunity
for the military that Congress wanted it to have," said Robert H. Bork,
Jr., spokesperson for the Scouts.

"Today's decision allows everyone to get back to planning the
centennial Jamboree celebrating Boy Scouts' 100th birthday," said George A.
Davidson, the attorney for Boy Scouts of America who argued before the
Seventh Circuit last year.

The case is Winkler v. Gates, No. 05-3451 (7th Cir. Apr. 4, 2007).

It's a good win. I just wish it wasn't because of a technicality of standing.

Christianity: Evil

School Superintendent Chris Manno:

We need to practice under conditions as real as possible in order to evaluate our procedures and plans

Having participated in many drills and simulations over the years, I can understand that. So, if you're a school superintendent, what's the most likely serious, dangerous situation that you might realisticly face?

A. A random student shooter (Peducah)?

B. A couple of students who get their hands on guns and bombs (Columbine)?

C. How about a middle eastern male aged 18-35 with bombs and guns (Israel)?

D. A Christian?

If you picked D, you understand our government and the liberals who run the education establishment. They actually had terrorist exercises and the superintendent actually claimed that the most likely, realistic, possibility of attack for his school was a Christian gunman. Oh, and it was a gunman who was mad because his daughter had been expelled for "praying before class."

Of course, maybe this isn't the case in Burlington, NJ, but here in America, it's patently unconstitutional to expel a student for praying in a school building.

After all of this was pointed out, the school district, newspapers, and other liberals in the area did not apologize. Why? Perhaps because they are so ignorant of reality that they honestly do believe that the most likely scenario of them facing danger is Christians. Is it really possible to be that ignorant? It is really and truly sad that people entrusted with educating children can be that blind to reality.

NC to Defy Economic Reality

The Democrats in the North Carolina General Assembly (who have been in power there for over 100 years) have now become full members of the church of algore and The Left. They have decided they are able to completely dictate all laws of supply and demand, no matter what reality might bring. This time, they're mandating the creation of an industry in North Carolina -- whether anyone wants it or not.

This time they're literally creating a "biofuel" industry.

For those who may have attended government schools and not learned about supply, demand, capitalism, and free markets; here's a quick lesson on how free markets work: Person A is free to use his own labor to create something. If person B would like to purchase that item from person A, they may agree on a price at which to sell the item. If the item Person A makes is desired by more people, the agreed-upon price is usually higher. Any time the two people can agree on a price, that is a fair price.

At the same time, if Person A makes an item and no one has any interest in paying for that item, then Person A has made something with zero value.

Now here's how the Democrat version of markets go: Government will make something (using YOUR money, so cost is no object). If no one wants it, government will first (again, using your money), buy it from themselves. If still no one wants it, the government will take tax money and give it to someone else and force that person to buy it. If STILL no one wants it, government will pass a law requiring you to buy it. The fair price in this instance is whatever government wants it to be -- which has no bearing on the cost of making the item or it's value to anyone.

They're making biofuel.

Know where the demand is for that one? I didn't think so.

Look, I have absolutely NOTHING against alternative fuels. I would LOVE to run my car off water, salt water, grass, cow poop, corn, or any other damn thing that would make it run that's cheaper than gasoline. However, NO ONE has found anything! There simply is NOT a cheaper way to run an internal combustion gas engine. As soon as there is, I won't be the only one buying.

Right now, the only market for biofuel is a completely artificial, government market. The companies producing biofuel are only doing so because the government gives them tax money to make it. The people selling biofuel are only doing it because the government subsidies make the price and profit levels reasonable. Many of the people using biofuels ARE government -- or are receiving taxpayer cash from the government for doing so. If you were to remove the government from this picture, what would you have?

You would have a market that would collapse -- no one would make biofuel (at least not until it was cheaper than gasoline); no one would buy biofuel; and no one would use biofuel. Oh, and everyone who paid taxes wouldn't have to pay so much (yes, in reality they'd spend it on something else).

So if YOU want biofuel, I have no problem with that. But stop spending billions of dollars of my money to force everyone else to pay for you to have biofuel.

GOP Presidential Debate

Wow. NINE candidates will be gathering May 3rd for a Republican presidential debate. In MAY. THIS YEAR. Is this the earliest primary presidential debate ever? It sure seems like it. Man, how worn out is everyone going to be come election time?

Here's the list of invited candidates:

Sen. Sam Brownback (Kan.)
former Virginia governor Jim Gilmore
former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani
former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee
Rep. Duncan Hunter (Calif.)
Sen. John McCain (Ariz.)
Rep. Ron Paul (Texas)
former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney
former Wisconsin governor Tommy G. Thompson

Now that's an odd collection, if I've ever seen one. The two that the press have already crowned winners are there: Romney and Giuliani. Duncan Hunter, a conservative, is there. But Ron Paul? How the heck did he get invited? I like a lot of his positions, but he's almost a.. a.. libertarian! I can't believe they invited him.

At the same time, Tom Tancredo isn't there. And neither is the new dark horse, Fred Thompson. There's no word that these two were invited and refused, the article just lists those who were invited. I predict now that MSNBC, one of the hosts of the "debate," will declare John McCain the clear winner...before the debate even happens.

NC Car Tax Increase

I know it's not really news that Democrats want to raise taxes. It's what they do. When you vote for Democrats, you ARE voting for tax increases. They don't understand anything else, and they'll never do anything else. They honestly oppose ANY decrease in taxes at ANY time.

If you pay attention to politics, you know that it's also not really news that they're going to lie about raising those taxes, and they'll lie about what the tax money will be used for. Once again, it's what they do. Dishonesty does not bother Democrats because in their minds, the ends always justifies the means, as long as they are the ones in charge.

So, once again, there's another Democrat-proposed tax increase for people of North Carolina, and yes, they're lying about it. This time it's a massive tax increase on automobiles and automobile taxes.

The tax would sustantially increase the cost of buying a new car. How much of an increase? Over 125%. And yes, this would be one of the Democrat's favorite type of tax increases -- a hidden increase. It wouldn't change the sticker price, the tax would be added in AFTER the sticker price is calculated. In addition, it would raise taxes even more if you traded in a car for your new car -- because it would eliminate a current calculation method based on the value of the old car (since the old car has already been taxed and will be taxed again when it's sold).

And, of course, they're lying about the tax. Democrats claim that the tax will increase funding for highways. That's a lie. For decades now Democrats have been stealing money from taxes collected for highways in a clear violation of the North Carolina Constitution. Therefore, the funds for highway building and repair are very low. This new tax may increase the amount that goes into that fund, but the Democrats, based on their actions over the past 2 decades, will just increase the amount going OUT of that fund and into their own pockets.

Auto dealers understand that this tax WILL hurt their business. Less people will buy new cars. But it will put more money in the personal pockets of the ethically-challenged Democrat legislators in Raleigh. Therefore, in the Democrats' minds, everyone wins.

The BBQ Tax

What a surprise. French-speaking politicians want to tax something. This time it's "barbequing." That's right, any time you have a BBQ in your backyard, you're going to have to pay 20 Euros. You better hope North Carolina politicians don't get wind of this one -- they'd make billions from that sort of tax.

But even better is the logic and reasoning of the left. The left honestly believes that they're implementing this tax to reduce CO2 emissions. They claim that a BBQ produces 50 grams of CO2. So they're going to reduce CO2 by taxing people for having a BBQ, hoping that by creating this tax people will stop having BBQs and therefore produce less CO2.

So how will they enforce this new law? With helicopter patrols.

According to New Zealand news sources, the average helicopter produces 28 KG of CO2 for one person for one hour of flight. Presumably these new helicopter enforcement patrols will have at least 2 people -- one to fly and one to look for the illegal BBQs. So that's 5,600 grams of CO2 that will be produced EACH HOUR. In order for their to be a net decrease in CO2 emissions, this patrol will have to catch over 110 illegal BBQs EVERY HOUR they are in flight. Anything less and there will be a net INCREASE in CO2 emissions.

Yes, this is what passes for logic for those on the left: government increasing CO2 emissions will cause an overall reduction in CO2 because people won't be creating the CO2. Apparently government-produced CO2 is good, while subject- peon- citizen-produced CO2 is bad. I bet they think their poop doesn't stink, too.

NC "Rail Commission"

The North Carolina House, led and controlled by Democrats, joins the 19th century with passage of the "Joint Legislative Commission On Expanding Rail Service." Yes, folks, the Democrats in North Carolina are finally going to expand the preferred mode of transportation of the 19th-century businessman. No longer will one have to go through all the trouble of starting one's car and driving. No longer will harried businessmen have to stop at the gas station and pump their own gas. No longer will travel be limited to those long, billion-dollar interstate highways. Soon, the working man in North Carolina will be able to ride multi-billion dollar trains of convenience!

In addition, according to the Democrats, the commission will declare the value of the train system to the military -- no longer will the military have to adjust complex flight schedules for transport, they can use the rail system. No longer will ports have to deal with complex rules of trucking, they will be able to ship their products to stores using the state train. And no longer will the money pit that is the state-run "Global Transpark" have to rely on variable trucking schedules, they will be able to use the train to ship directly to military bases.

And yes, this commission will have an unlimited budget for "member expenses, per diem, subsitence, travel allowances, staff, and any and all consultants they require."

Wow. None of that is made up, it's in the bill that just PASSED the North Carolina House. Seriously. Would anyone like to call the North Carolina Democrat Party and invite them forward a couple of centuries? And someone needs to ask them about pollution from those steam engines...

Lawyer Hunting

"Can't use that rifle here," said the park ranger to an intending hunter. "It's closed season. No hunting bears, no hunting deer, no hunting ducks."
"What? Is there anything I can hunt?" asked the disappointed hunter.
"Well," said the ranger, "if you go back into town, you can hunt lawyers. It's always open season on them."
So the hunter drove back to town, but just as he drove over an intersection, he accidentally smashed into another car. All at once, the street was full of lawyers, all of them offering their services to the two parties in the collision.
Mindful of what the ranger said, the hunter thought this was too good an opportunity to miss, and reached for his rifle and took aim, only to find the same ranger tapping on his shoulder.
"Sorry, boy, if you pull that trigger I'll have to run you in," said the ranger.
"Why?" asked the confused hunter. "You said I could hunt lawyers any time."
"I said you could hunt them," explained the ranger. "I didn't say you could trap them!"

NC Operation Slow Down

Beware this week. The North Carolina highway patrol will be enforcing the speed limits. But don't worry, it's only for 5 days. Then you can go back to speeding because they apparently won't be enforcing the laws after that 5 days.

Does this sound a lot like the Democrat strategy on Iraq? You're being publicly warned to not speed for a few days. Then you're being openly told that there won't be enforcement of speeding laws on a specific date. So, if you're planning on breaking the laws against speeding, all you have to do is wait a few days and you're free and clear for speeding.

This is what the Democrat plan is on Iraq. Tell the terrorists that they have to lay low for a little while, then there's a specific date after which there will be no more American troops around, so you can do all the terrorism you want.

Of course, what may be more interesting to watch, if the Democrats succeed in their surrender attempts, is what the terrorists will do after that arbitrary date. You see, if the terrorists really want to target Americans, the date is the date of removal of American targets in Iraq. So if the terrorists want to target Americans, they're going to have to look elsewhere...

British Schoolteachers Support Iran

Perhaps it is now clear why Britain hasn't dropped hundreds of bombs on Iran, as they should. It is because their school teachers support Iran. They, too, agree that the holocaust never happened. Since it's unpleasant, they can just ignore it, and then it will simply not exist. It really is true that ignorance is bliss.

Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

So England is well-prepared for another holocaust. I'm guessing this time instead of Hitler murdering millions of Jews, it may be Madman I'mADinnerJacket, supreme ruler of Iran, who will be leading the slaughter of millions -- this time Jews and anyone else who doesn't convert to Islam.

Does anyone remember the last time that Iran took hostages? Last time there were a number of America hostages. What did America do? Nothing, just like England is doing now. Carter talked. And he talked some more. And he was completely and totally ignored.

Does anyone remember what ended the hostage crisis and got the hostages released? Although I was quite young at the time, and don't remember being very involved in politics, or even caring much about them; I do remember the news. I remember hearing over and over again, "Warmonger." I remember the news media screaming that if people would DARE elect that warmonger that it would be the end of the world. This horrible man would use the power of the American military to free those hostages and WWIII would happen. This man was going to end the world. "Warmonger" was repeated over and over and over again. The press absolutely blasted this man running for president and assured the people again and again that if he were elected, there would be war.

And know what? The man would have. The man had guts and determination, and he was going to use the power of the American military to free those hostages. Yes, he was willing to kill terrorists who had taken those hostages. And he really didn't care what the world thought about it, those were Americans, and he was going to free them, and he didn't care who it "offended."

So the American people supported "the cowboy" and the "warmonger." Those who perhaps weren't educated in the government system may remember what happened -- Iran saw this man elected, knew he was going to kill them, and they released the hostages. They understood this man was not going to sit back and talk -- this was a man of action. This was a man who was not afraid to show power -- so Iran surrendered.

Of course, this man was Ronald Reagan. He was a true leader who let the terrorists know that America was not going to sit back and let it's citizens be taken hostage by a hostile country.

But I'm sure the British school teachers think Reagan is "too offensive," too. I'm sure they don't teach about him, because they might "offend" someone. This really shows the character of today's world leaders -- or the complete lack of character.

Iran has committed an open act of war. At the very least, England should openly declare war as well. And if England asked America, we should join them. WWIII? Maybe. But to what ends do you go to avoid war? Certainly I think we have already given in too much. I think we've already surrendered. But based on the actions of the British school teachers, perhaps that's because that's what the people of the West want now -- anything at all, even total servitude and dhimmitude, is preferable to war.

NC Freedom Advances

Freedom takes a tiny step forward in North Carolina, much to the chagrin of socialists across the country. This group of socialist activists.

These activists and the reporter are bemoaning that some people are still allowed to be free. They complain that some people have been allowed to own property when they honestly believe that the state should own everything. It's part of their "First Million Acre" plan -- where they use the force of state government to take ownership of land from individuals and put it in the power of the state -- oh, "for the children," in the name of "preservation," so it's all allowed.

Once again, the socialists show their hand, even when they won't admit it. These people honestly do not like people to own land. The seriously will not be satisfied until the government owns every square inch of land on the planet. And they know most people oppose those actions, so they lie and claim it's "for the children." But don't worry, your government is still paying hundreds of millions of dollars to take your own land from you.

Oh, how I yearn for freedom.

Thinking Blogger Tag

Well, if you haven't seen it by now, there's a viral award making the rounds called the "thinking blogger award." It's sort of a mixed bag. It's an award, but it's a virus. So while at the same time, I really am honored that now at least two different people (Kender and Raven) picked me; I still feel like I've been backslapped with a slimy rubbery hand slathered with moldy crud.

Now this meme comes with specific rules:

1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think,
2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme,
3. Optional: Proudly display the 'Thinking Blogger Award' with a link to the post that you wrote.

Well, I did get tagged, so I suppose I'm going to link to 5 blogs. Here goes nothing:

*** WARNING WARNING WARNING *** Do NOT hold Ogre responsible for loss of brain cells if you follow the links provided. They are not there for you to follow, they are there because the rules require them. In some cases, your intelligence WILL decrease should you follow the links. You have been warned.

#1. Thinking Meat. I know, you're screaming, "WHAT?!?" Look, the rules said that I was supposed to link to bloggers that make me think. And when I read Thinking Meat, I do think -- usually the thoughts are, "How can such a person actually form words when they cannot have more than 2 brain cells?" Seriously. The author of this site can read minds (in his own mind) and lives in a world that is not just disconnected from reality, but would never recognize reality, ever. I honestly do not know how a person with this sort of mindset can function at all in society. I'm guessing it's a government worker.

#2. Blue NC. My motto for this one is "Know Thy Enemy." As for thoughts, this site makes me think, "Holy crap, this IS what the Democrats in NC honestly believe." And that's really, really BAD for freedom. The opinions on this site show why freedom will continue to be oppressed in North Carolina.

#3. Gun-Toting Liberal. This site is interesting because it's another group site with more than one author. Every time I read this site, it makes me think, "Geez, GTL, how can you be so right in some areas, but so far off the reservation in others?" This is one of the few liberals I know (well, I'd like to know -- we're going to sit down and have a beer one day) that is capable of understanding logic and can honestly argue (even if he is wrong quite a bit...)

#4. The Evangelical Outpost. Most of the posts there are very thoughtful and get me to thinking -- however, usually at the bottom of the post will be comments that will immediately derail the thinking process as my mind is invaded with thoughts like, "Why do people need to just attempt to be evil?" and "Again, it's amazing how little brain power it takes to type words on a keyboard."

#5 Drunken Wisdom. This one pretty much is limited to one thought, "I wonder how many beers T1G had before he made this post?" I'm pretty sure the answer is almost "more than 5."
