NC "Rail Commission"
The North Carolina House, led and controlled by Democrats, joins the 19th century with passage of the "Joint Legislative Commission On Expanding Rail Service." Yes, folks, the Democrats in North Carolina are finally going to expand the preferred mode of transportation of the 19th-century businessman. No longer will one have to go through all the trouble of starting one's car and driving. No longer will harried businessmen have to stop at the gas station and pump their own gas. No longer will travel be limited to those long, billion-dollar interstate highways. Soon, the working man in North Carolina will be able to ride multi-billion dollar trains of convenience!
In addition, according to the Democrats, the commission will declare the value of the train system to the military -- no longer will the military have to adjust complex flight schedules for transport, they can use the rail system. No longer will ports have to deal with complex rules of trucking, they will be able to ship their products to stores using the state train. And no longer will the money pit that is the state-run "Global Transpark" have to rely on variable trucking schedules, they will be able to use the train to ship directly to military bases. And yes, this commission will have an unlimited budget for "member expenses, per diem, subsitence, travel allowances, staff, and any and all consultants they require." Wow. None of that is made up, it's in the bill that just PASSED the North Carolina House. Seriously. Would anyone like to call the North Carolina Democrat Party and invite them forward a couple of centuries? And someone needs to ask them about pollution from those steam engines...
