Prison vs. Work

In prison you spend the majority of your time in an 8'x10' cell. At work you spend most of your time in a 6'x8' cubicle.
In prison you get three meals a day. At work you only get a break for one meal and you have to pay for it.
In prison you get time off for good behavior. At work you get rewarded for good behavior with more work.
In prison a guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you. At work you must carry around a security card and unlock and open all the doors yourself.
In prison you can watch TV and play games. At work you get fired for watching TV and playing games.
In prison they allow your family and friends to visit. At work you cannot even speak to your family and friends.
In prison all expenses are paid by taxpayers with no work required. At work you get to pay all the expenses to go to work and then they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for prisoners.
In prison you spend most of your life looking through the bars from the inside wanting to get out. At work you spend your time wanting to get out and inside bars.
In prison you can join many programs which you can leave at any time. At work there are some programs you can never get out of.
In prison there are wardens who are often sadistic. At work there are managers.

Math With Governor Easley

Sometimes I really wonder about politicians. Well, okay, almost every time I see or think about them I wonder. It really is hard to understand liberals because you honestly have to suspend belief in the entire physical world around you. Take this wonderful math done by North Carolina governor Mike Easley:

$220 million stolen taken "collected" by the lottery in 1 year = about $1 million a day. In a sane, rational world, that's actually only $602,739 a day. And I don't know how in the world you can take just over half of something and call it a whole something. Do you suppose I can do that with my taxes? Gee, Mr. Easley, the calculations showed I owed $5,320 in state taxes, and that's about $10, so I'll pay that.

Before the lottery was passed (under VERY suspicious circumstances), Easley again and again claimed it would bring in $400 million for education (that's a complete and total lie, but that's another story). After 365 days, the lottery has brought in $220 million. Easley and his pal, the director of the lottery (with a salary of well over $100k a year), said the lottery could earn up to $350 million in it's first year. Folks? The first year is already over and they honestly don't know how much it made? And they're making predictions for how much it will bring in in the future "first year?"

So, since the lottery isn't bringing in the amount Easley promised to the general fund (again, to claim it's about education is outright lying), he has proposed a solution -- bring in LESS money! Yes! Easley believes that if they reduce the amount set aside "for education" from 35% to 29% it will produce more money. And to show he has no understanding of anything related to math, this is the same Democrat who believes that lowering taxes reduces income to government when that has never actually happened.

Democrat government math: is there anything is can't do (in their own minds)?

A Pun for VW

This one is for VW Bug:

A man put his head out of his apartment window to check for rain. As he did so, a glass eye fell into his hand. He looked up to see where it came from just in time to notice a young woman looking down.
"Is this yours?" he called.
"Yes," she replied, "could you bring it up?"
When he got there she thanked him and offered him a drink. He agreed, noticing how attractive she was, even with one artificial eye.
Soon after that she said, "I'm about to have dinner - there's plenty. Would you like to join me?"
He readily accepted her offer and both enjoyed a lovely meal.
As the evening was drawing to a close the lady said, "I've had a really great evening. Would you like to stay the night?"
The man hesitated then asked, "Do you act like this with every man you meet?"
"No," she replied. "Only those who catch my eye."

Government Workers

A fellow stopped at a rural gas station and, after filling his tank, he stood by his car and watched a couple of men working along the roadside. One man would dig a hole two or three feet deep and then move on. The other man came along behind and filled in the hole. While one was digging a new hole, the other was about 25 feet behind filling in the old one.

"Hold it, hold it!" the fellow said to the men. "Can you tell me what's going on here? One of you is digging a hole and the other is filling it up. You're not accomplishing anything."

"You don't understand, mister," one of the men said, leaning on his shovel and wiping his brow. "We work for the county government. Normally there's three of us: me, Joe and Mike. I dig the hole, Joe sticks in the tree and Mike here puts the dirt back."

"Yea," piped up Mike. "Now just because Joe is sick, that doesn't mean we can't work, does it?"

Friday Feast

Here's how it works:

Each Friday when you visit this meme, you will find 5 enticing courses for your mind to gobble up:

Appetizer
- a quick, tasty morsel to get you started

Soup
- smooth and warm to soothe your mind

Salad
- a nutritious blend of "veggies"

Main Course
- a hearty portion that is sure to satisfy

Dessert
- light concoction for your sweet tooth

And now for this week's fare:
Appetizer: What are you proud of?

Oh, you're not getting me with that one! Pope Gregory the Great said that pride was the #1 deadly sin! Now I could plead the fifth, but then that would imply that I am, indeed, proud of something, which means I'd be admitting that I'm guilty. So I'm not doing down that road either. And I'm not a moron like Specter, so I won't claim "not proven," either.
Soup: What is the best thing youve ever won as a prize?

You mean people actually WIN stuff? Wow. I know I MAY have won a few million from Publisher's House Clearinghouse once or twice...and that's about it.
Salad: Name something you do that is a waste of time.

Hello? Are you even reading this? Did you think for a minute that blogging all this stuff is actually "productive" in ANY sense of the word?
Main Course: In what year of your life did you change the most?

I'm not sure, but I think I'm going to go with the year I was born. Before that year, well, there wasn't really much going on. After that year, well, there was a whole lot more going on with me than before...
Dessert: Where is a place you consider to be very tranquil?

Mississippi (3356′32″N, 8835′58″W).

Ripken Baseball

Last night Ogre had the chance to visit Bill Ripken of Ripken Baseball. It was a 2-hour seminar on how to teach kids to play baseball, sponsored by The Charlotte Knights (opening day April 5th -- I'll be there) and Carolinas Baseball Center. It was great.

The clinic was held at the new facility for Carolinas Baseball Center on Westinghouse Road, just off I-77. It's a huge warehouse-style building with all sorts of indoor room for baseball practicing with cages, throwing areas, fielding areas, and just tons of room for practicing baseball.

Jeff Schaefer is the mastermind behind the facility, and he's put a lot of work into it. It's a great-looking place. I would absolutely be sending my team to practice there if it were not an hour's drive from my house. But if you're in the area and want to practice or learn about baseball, be sure and stop by.

Teaching the clinic was Bill Ripken. He knows what he's talking about. He gave all sorts of great tips and instructions on how to actually teach the kids about the game of baseball. He also mentioned that there's a LOT fewer kids playing baseball these days, and he's trying to help show how to teach them so that more will know how, have fun, and play the game. He also knows my personal childhood all-time baseball hero, Mr. Don Mattingly. No, he did not have a reasonable explanation for why he didn't ask Mr. Mattingly to be there with him.

It was a great clinic and a great location. And it was free to attendees, thanks to the sponsors. If you've got a kid and want them to learn about baseball, be sure and check out the Ripken Baseball page -- they've got centers in Maryland and in Myrtle Beach, SC. And if you're looking for training of your (or someone else's) child in baseball in south Charlotte (or near there), be sure to check out Carolinas Baseball Center -- there's a bunch of former Major League Baseball players there ready to help you out.

Anyone Can Vote in NC

North Carolina Democrats in the House have passed a new law that allows non-citizens to vote. And the bill absolutely invites tons of vote fraud. In fact, the bill so encourages fraud that I may have to vote 5 or 6 times this year in different districts -- because although it's a felony to do so, there's almost no way for the board of elections to be able to tell the fraud is being committed.

Previously, you had to register to vote 20-25 days or more before the election. This gave the board of elections time (in theory) to check your residency and ensure that you were actually supposed to vote. But Democrats would rather make it easier for non-citizens and vote fraud, so this new bill allows you to show up at any precinct anywhere in the state with a paycheck -- and you can register and vote, no questions asked.

There is zero proof of citizenship required. You do not have to show that you even live in the district. There is no way to verify that you are eligible to vote (although Democrats claim "computers will do that."). So feel free to collect a busload of people with paychecks and travel across the state, registering and voting at will.

And this is from the Democrats who, when it was election time, claimed they wanted to put "trust" back into government. Oh, how I yearn for free and fair elections. But they're not coming any time to North Carolina.

March of Dimes Needs 0 Donations

If you see any jars, containers, or bubble gum machines that say that the proceeds will go to the March of Dimes, you no longer have any need to give money to them -- because you already are. The March of Dimes organization is now using the mob mafia government to strong-arm people and force them into giving to this organization with your tax dollars.

If you're already giving, then there's absolutely no need to give more. If they need more for research, presumably they'll just go back to the government and get what they need. I guess they're happier with unwilling "donations" to their cause and no longer have the desire to allow people to help them of their own free will.

They claim

We must work together as partners ... and the funding provided by the General Assembly is a vital part in the public/private partnership that has been forged...

Note the new word for voluntary socialism today: "public/private partnership." What that really means is that they're going to use government to take your money by force, and then they want you to voluntarily give them more. Slimy, greedy, miserable bastards. And no, it doesn't matter that you're doing it "for the children." You're using force and deceit to advance your needs, and you honestly don't care who it hurts or how much you have to lie.

Don't give to the March of Dimes. They already took your money.

Giuliani + NC Conservatives?

Wow. I'm shocked. The Civitas Institute just announced that Giuliani is going to "headline" the NC Conservative Leadership Conference. That's coming up April 27-28 in Raleigh. The Ogre will be there and be blogging live (with lots of pictures). But Giuliani?

According to the news release:

As mayor of New York, Rudy Giuliani returned accountability to city government and improved the quality of life for all New Yorkers. He reduced the overall crime rate by 57 percent and the murder rate by 65 percent from 1,960 murders the year before he became mayor to 640 his last year in office. He reduced the welfare rolls by half, and moved more than 640,000 individuals from government dependency to self-sufficiency. Giuliani reduced or eliminated 23 taxes saving taxpayers more than $2.5 billion, and he slowed the growth of government. In addition, hundreds of millions of dollars were returned to the private sector because of his campaign against organized crime. And he turned an inherited budget deficit of $2.3 billion into a multi-billion dollar surplus, while creating 450,000 private sector jobs (private sector jobs declined during the previous administration).

North Carolina conservatives will welcome Giulianis conservative message, said Hawke.

Giuliani is running strong in a wide-open field of possible Republican candidates. The Civitas Institutes March DecisionMaker poll placed Giuliani in the lead among North Carolina Republican voters, with a favorable vote of 33 percent. Arizona Senator John McCain is favored by 25 percent, and former Massachusettss Governor Mitt Romney by 9 percent. Nineteen percent are undecided and 15 percent said their candidate was not mentioned in the poll.

Wow.

So Giuliani has a conservative view on taxes. As far as I've been able to tell, that's his ONLY conservative position. I'm thinking that if the same people are there this year that were there last year, there's not going to be a whole lot of support for this cross-dressing, 6-timing, gun-hater.

But he's in the lead among NC voters? Well, count me in the 15 percent of that vote, because I'm still backing Tom Tancredo. And sorry, Peter Porcupine, about Romney's showing -- just being from the state of Massachusetts is a big liability down here. But I don't get Giuliani support from this state. I can only assume that people are focused on his work after 9-11 and not his position on political issues.

Well, I'll get to meet him and take his picture (if he doesn't run off like some politicians that are too self-important). And you can check here on April 27th for the first-hand live account of what he's saying.

Restaurants and Computers

If Restaurants functioned like computers
Patron: Waiter!
Waiter: Hi, my name is Bill, and I'll be your support.
Waiter. What seems to be the problem?
Patron: There's a fly in my soup!
Waiter: Try again, maybe the fly won't be there this time.
Patron: No, it's still there.
Waiter: Maybe it's the way you're using the soup. Try eating it with a fork instead.
Patron: Even when I use the fork, the fly is still there.
Waiter: Maybe the soup is incompatible with the bowl. What kind of bowl are you using?
Patron: A SOUP bowl!
Waiter: Hmmm, that should work. Maybe it's a configuration problem. How was the bowl set up?
Patron: You brought it to me on a saucer. What has that to do with the fly in my soup?!
Waiter: Can you remember everything you did before you noticed the fly in your soup?
Patron: I sat down and ordered the Soup of the Day!
Waiter: Have you considered upgrading to the latest Soup of the Day?
Patron: You have more than one Soup of the Day each day??
Waiter: Yes, the Soup of the Day changes every hour.
Patron: Well, what is the Soup of the Day now?
Waiter: The current Soup of the Day is tomato.
Patron: This is potato soup.
Waiter: Yes, the tomato soup isn't ready yet.

Wedgie Jail Time

I'll admit it -- when I was younger I received a lot more wedgies than I gave. And you know what? They sometimes hurt. Yes, even the ones that tore my underwear. But never once did I consider going to my mother, much less the police! Apparently times have changed, and not for the better.

Apparently, a 13-year old got a wedgie and ran home to his mom and cried. If I had done that, my mom would feel sorry for me. Then when my Dad got home and found out, he'd have laughed at me for being such a damn wimp. But not this 13-year old's mom. She took him to the damn emegency room!

Carol (the kid's mom) -- this IS just a prank. This IS no big deal. Kids get hurt -- that's how they learn. By teaching your child to go to the police and use government to mete out severe punishment for minor actions, you're teaching him to be a socialist bully, instead of a self-sufficient productive citizen. You're encouraging him to be today's feminist version of a man -- one that will not protect and serve women, but will instead bully and abuse them.

Kids hurt kids. That used to not be a big deal. But society stinks now. I wonder how much taxpayer cash this minor pain will cost me. Anyone want to start a pool for the date that Carol files the lawsuit against the school and the dollar amount she demands in "compensation?" Wimpy, selfish morons. That's today's society. I refuse to participate.

NC Divests from Sudan

Since the North Carolina Legislature has been ruled by Democrats for over 100 years, it is indeed quite seldom that they do things that are right and good. Keep in mind, the majority of the Democrat party are liberals, and their primary purpose is to oppose good. However, if they do something right, I do like to mention it.

This time they've voted to divest state pension funds from the Sudan. The state treasurer is supposed to examine pension fund investments and sell any that are invested in companies that are doing business with the government of Sudan. That's not a bad thing.

Of course, an even BETTER idea, and one that would promote liberty and freedom (which is why it will NEVER happen while Democrats are in power) would be to get rid of the damn state pension fund! It shouldn't even exist! State representatives shouldn't get getting pensions and free things for their entire life! I know that many state employees have money in the pension system -- and that's WRONG! Get rid of the pension system. Let the employees quit -- then let private businesses do those jobs. It will create more jobs, better paying jobs, and the jobs WILL be done much more efficiently.

But as I said, these are Democrats. They will never, ever reduce government -- they exist to expand government and destroy good.

Talking Cow Joke

A city man was driving down a country road when his car sputtered to a complete stop near a field filled with cows. The driver, getting out to see what was the matter, noticed one of the cows looking at him.
"I believe it's your radiator," said the cow.
The man nearly jumped out of his skin. He ran to the nearest farmhouse and knocked on the door.
"A cow just gave me advice about my car!" he shouted, waving his arms franticly back toward the field.
The farmer nonchalantly leaned out past the doorframe to glance down the field. "The cow with two big black spots on it?" the farmer asked slowly.
"Yes! Yes! That's the one!" the excited man replied.
"Oh. Well, that's Ethel," the farmer said, turning back to the man. "Don't pay any attention to her. She doesn't know a thing about cars."

Shame on you Senate

SHAME ON YOU SENATE!

U.S. Senators Who Vote for Iraq Withdrawal Have Blood on Their Hands Says MAF Chair

(WASHINGTON, DC) In response to the vote by the U.S. Senate on a congressional proposal to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq, before they have completed their missions, the nations largest grass-roots pro-troop organization has announced its strong disapproval of the actions by 50 members of the United States Senate.

The Senators who voted to undercut our troops have blood on their hands the blood of U.S. troops who will die from attacks by terrorists who will be emboldened by the Senates cowardice, said Melanie Morgan, Chairman of Move America Forward.

Our troops on the ground in the middle of a war dont need to have their missions undermined by some armchair generals in Washington, D.C. If these Senators wont stand behind our men and women on the frontlines, then perhaps they would prefer to stand in front of them, Morgan said.

This action by the U.S. Senate sends a message to the terrorists that they are winning, and that the leaders of our Congress lack the will and resolve to win the war on terrorism, Morgan said.

The move by the Senate comes concurrent to the launch of a national pro-troop advertising campaign that takes to task those who seek to undermine support for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The ad is being broadcast with a national television and print advertising buy. The ads can be seen online at the Move America Forward website: www.MoveAmericaForward.org.

Democrats Spend

$24,000,000.00 for sugar beets.

$3,000,000.00 for sugar cane in HI.

$100,000,000.00 to pay companies who lost money on Dairy.

$6,000,000.00 to pay for flooded farmland in ND.

$18,000,000.00 to pay for drought in the Great Plains.

$425,000,000.00 for education grants in rural areas.

$22,800,000.00 for geothermal research.

Democrats continue their unabated trashing of the Consitution and seeing how quickly they can spend money that's not theirs with their appropriations bill. They're going to roll back every tax cut from the last 6 years.

They will raise income taxes. They will institute the marriage penalty tax. They will reinsitute the death tax. They will increase capital gains taxes. They will increase taxes the most ever in history. And they will do it all in total disregard for the Constitution-- NONE of this is authorized. NONE of these expenditures are allowed by the Consitution.

But that is how Democrats work: they know better than you how to spend your money. And they will use the force of government to take that money from you in total disregard for the law because they believe they are above the law.

Maryland Passes Jessica's Law

Our group from North Carolina sends much congratulations to Maryland!!

Finally, it seems that the Maryland General Assembly is headed in the right direction for stricter laws regarding sex offenders. There are other guide lines that can be done to help bridge some gaps. Adam Walsh Act would help fill in these gaps well as monetary bonus for state. Our group was glad to assist in Jessica's Law for Maryland. We hope that Maryland General Assembly will keep moving forward in a positive direction for strict laws and guide lines of sex offenders.

Still, we are fighting in North Carolina for Jessica's Law well as the Adam Walsh Act.

North Carolina has 111,000 children yearly reported "Abused" and "Neglected. Presently, 10,000 registered "Sex Offenders" move to a new address or jobs daily. Children, women, elderly, incapacitated or handicapped people are especially at risk from sexual predators. North Carolina is no different; our city's have large number of registered sexual offenders.

We hope that North Carolina lawmakers will take a stand for tougher laws against child predators. This past year, we voiced our outraged to North Carolina lawmakers for failing to provide stricter laws against sex offenders. Remember, North Carolina General Assembly our children should not be viewed as Democratic or Republican issues this is a human safety issue. Please do not allow politics and compromise to get in the way of protecting our families. Hopefully, our state lawmakers will heed the call and pass "Jessica Lunsford Act for NC ".

We need to give our full support to Rep. Tim Moore (R- Cleveland County) along with Rep. Julia Howard (R-Davie, Iredell Counties), Rep. Debbie Clary (R-Cleveland, Gaston counties), and Rep. Charles Thomas (R-Buncombe County) help pass House Bill 933.

Individuals that commit sexual crimes against children need incarceration or strict comprehensive monitoring.

Often, administration has failed to let law enforcement know of the placement of paroled sex offenders in their communities. Allowing violent sex offenders to go free and not providing mandatory hearings, stricter penalties for non-compliances. Has allowed dangerous parolees to remain free, even after they violated parole.

Presently our state lawmakers are inconclusive towards Jessica's Law. If our lawmakers would take the following steps this would be step in right direction.

Passing of House Bill 933, which will strength our current laws of sex offenders.

North Carolina Lawmakers should take advantage of the Adam Walsh Act and use the monetary bonus payment available to those states complying with the act sooner than its three-year timeline. Rather than a 10 percent reduction in Justice Assistance Grants and certain reductions of Sex Offender Management Assistance Program monies for those states that do not comply with Adam Walsh Act.

Over the past several years, I have given time to push for tougher laws, regarding sex crimes, especially sexual predators. Personally, I have worked with sexually abused children and have seen the effects. Words cannot even begin to describe seeing the rape of childs innocent soul. The soul is amputated and takes a lifetime to repair, if ever!

Come Meet Ogre

Well, you probably haven't wanted to meet the Ogre. I mean, think about that one logically. But hey, if you are one of the two or three people who wants to actually meet and talk with the Ogre in person, you've got two chances coming up soon.

The first is April 27-28 at the NC Conservative Leadership Conference. If you can be there, you will have a good time, even if you do find Ogre. And I'll be relatively easy to spot -- I'll be bogged down with a camera and a laptop most of the time. If you see someone set up with a tripod and typing away furiously, that will be me. And the nametag that says, "Ogre" will sort of be a giveaway. And if you can't be there, be sure and check here, because I'll be liveblogging everwhere I go. It will be a blast!

The next will be the very next weekend at Minis on the Dragon. If you don't have a Mini, I probably won't see you there. And I doubt I'll be liveblogging, but I'll take lots of pictures for posting the next week!
