Democrat Hit Man Jack Smith Discussing How to "Wind Down" His Political Prosecutions of Donald Trump With Merrick Garland

I'm sure he's got his eye on doing maximum damage.

He won't get to bring Trump to trial, but he'll write a fiery, unprofessional accusation against Trump in a fake DOJ report.

The Justice Department and special counsel Jack Smith's office are engaged in active discussions about how to wind down the ongoing federal prosecutions against President-elect Donald Trump, according to two people familiar with the talks.

At the center of the discussions is the Justice Department's longstanding policy against prosecuting a sitting president and the need to enable a smooth transition to a second term in the White House for Trump, the sources said.

Regulations governing the special counsel dictate that the upper echelons of the Justice Department, including possibly Attorney General Merrick Garland, are to be consulted on major decisions in an investigation overseen by a special counsel. Smith's office declined to comment.

Remember, he's a fake Special Prosecutor. He was never approved by the Senate, and his budget was never okayed by Congress.

There's a reason to require that: To make sure that a politically-motivated DOJ can't just hire a partisan hired gun to go after its enemies. You need buy-in from the other party.

But Merrick Garland wanted a partisan hired gun, so he just appointed him, against the rules, on his own asserted authority.

We've seen a lot of that these past eight years.

Enough.

Jack Smith is lucky if Trump doesn't use the DOJ to force him to disgorge all the illegal payments he's collected over the past three years.

Pro-Crime Soros "Prosecutor" George Gascon Booted Out of Office In 60%-40% Wipeout

It's time to sweep all of the Soros "Prosecutors" out of office.

Nathan Hochman defeated incumbent progressive prosecutor George Gascón in the race for Los Angeles County district attorney as crime was seen as a top issue of the election cycle.

Hochman, a former federal prosecutor, campaigned as a "hard middle" candidate, rejecting both mass incarceration and the "public safety failure" of Gascón's liberal policies, which Hochman said led to increased crime and a lack of consequences for juvenile offenders.

"The voters of Los Angeles County have spoken and have said enough is enough of D.A. Gascón's pro-criminal extreme policies; they look forward to a safer future," Hochman said in a statement early Wednesday. "As D.A., I look forward to representing all of the people, whether they voted for me or not, since their safety will be my responsibility."

The FBI's preliminary data for 2022 had predicted that violent crime dropped by a slim 2.1% from 2021-2022. The FBI updated the data in October, however, and found that violent crime actually rose by 4.5%.

Meanwhile, California actually passed Proposition 36, which went over their progressive "representatives'" heads to stiffen penalties for theft and drug dealing. The "representatives" refused to criminalize crime, so the people had to resort to a ballot initiative.

California voters approved by a massive margin a ballot measure to more harshly punish certain crimes -- with the initiative garnering a whopping 70.6% support with nearly 7.6 million ballots counted.

The outcome of the state's Proposition 36 reflected a backlash to light penalties for shoplifting and drug-related crimes -- and it passed despite opposition from Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Prop 36 authorizes felony charges for possession of drugs including fentanyl and for thefts under $950 if the offender has two prior drug or theft convictions, according to the official summary of its provisions.

Baby steps.

Kamala refused to say how she was voting on proposition 36 -- she once again wouldn't answer an important question. She claimed she just wouldn't reveal her position 48 hours before an election.

She could have, of course, revealed it any time over the past year.

Vice President Kamala Harris is facing scrutiny from a California sheriff after refusing to say whether she voted for a proposition in her home state aimed at curbing the surging crime and theft in the state.

"California's Democrat leaders have long taken the side of criminals instead of standing up for crime victims and ordinary residents," Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco told Fox News Digital. "Proposition 36 will roll back some of the most harmful soft-on-crime policies California Democrats have enacted. It is the single most important thing on California's ballot this year, and will help clean up our streets and keep our neighborhoods safe.

"The vice president's reluctance to vocally support this critical public safety measure is yet another failure in a long career of failures when it comes to keeping our citizens safe."

Harris, a former San Francisco district attorney, California attorney general and U.S. senator before she was elected vice president in 2020, declined over the weekend to answer about how she voted on Proposition 36. The California ballot measure would reverse criminal justice reforms made in her home state in recent years.

"I'm not going to talk about the vote on that because honestly it's the Sunday before the election, and I don't intend to create an endorsement one way or another around it," Harris said. "But I did vote."

Oh -- and Kamala helped put George Gascon into office, of course!

Quick Post: Whither Ka-Mala?

The American voters did not position Kamala for success.

A correspondent observes that Kamala's future is not, in fact, "as bright as the stars."

She will not have a second act. No law firm will hire her as a rainmaker.

And obviously not as a real working lawyer, either.

Speakers' bureaus are not going to charge six figures for such a terrible speaker with nothing to speak about. And her future in electoral politics is over. Ergo, no second act.

I also do not think she is a draw, so she won't get a show on MSNBC. She might get some fill-in work as a "contributor." But there's not much money in that.

She has no constituency. She never really did. She has been the beneficiary of social promotion -- and sexual promotion -- her whole working life. She has never actually achieved and has nothing to show for her meaningless, clock-punching time on the government payroll.

She'll "write" a book, obviously. But I don't think the fake payoff advance will be what they usually give to their Democrat favorites.

What will she do?

I imagine she'll work for a company in the industry where her real passion lies:

Planned Parenthood. I could see her being a VP, or even President.

Kamala Has Finally Sobered Up Enough to Call Trump to Concede

Kamala didn't bother writing a concession speech and supposedly spent most the day writing a speech telling her supporters to "hold on," because she thought it would take a week to count votes and there would be time to cheat another fake victory. Only in the afternoon has she begun an actual concession speech.

And only now has she just called Trump to concede, unburdened by what-might-have-been.

But she's not really conceding: She's telling her supporters to mount another anti-Trump subversion campaign, like Hillary did when she called for unelected bureaucrats to commit acts of treason in sabotaging the duly-elected president of the United Sates:

I got bad news for you, hun: We ain't letting that happen this time. The subversives coordinating sabotage via encrypted apps will be fired en masse. The entire top two levels of the corrupt bureaucracy will be fired en masse.

We are cleaning the house of your filthy taint. Take that however you like.

Trump Officially Wins Michigan

I mean, the Ace of Spades Decision Desk already called it, but whatever.

Former President Donald Trump has won the critical swing state of Michigan, NBC News projects, netting the Republican 15 Electoral College votes over Vice President Kamala Harris.

Michigan has been one of the nation's most hotly contested battlegrounds since it helped Trump pull off a surprise victory in 2016. It had been seen as a linchpin of Harris' path to keeping the White House in Democratic hands. No Democrat has won the White House without Michigan since Jimmy Carter in 1976.

Trump campaigned aggressively in the Upper Midwest state, which was also home to a contested Senate race, with promises to revive the domestic manufacturing that once gave the Rust Belt its name and claims that Michigan's massive auto industry would not survive without him in power.

The actual Decision Desk HQ projects the GOP will keep the House.

Unfortunately, it looks like three Senate seats I thought were in the bag are now at best only possible.

Nevada could be a pickup too, although this one is truly on a razor's edge. At the moment, Republican challenger Sam Brown leads Democrat incumbent Jacky Rosen by around 1800 votes and 0.1 points. Clark County (Las Vegas) has just about finished, but Washoe is another Democrat-leaning county and they're only 75% reported. Rosen only leads in Washoe by three points, though, so it may not be decisive. A few other deep-red counties are still counting significant numbers of ballots, so this one's a real toss-up and may not be settled today.

Michigan and Wisconsin are still possible, but looking less likely. Mike Rogers trails Elissa Slotkin by one-tenth of a point and 8500 votes, but there's not much left to report except Emmet and Antrim counties. Can Rogers find a net gain to take the lead? We'll see. Tammy Baldwin seems more firmly placed for re-election over Eric Hovde in Wisconsin, leading by 0.7 points and 23,000 votes. (Update: DecisionDesk HQ called this for Baldwin as I was writing the post.)

Right now, the GOP has a possible range of 52-55 Senate seats, and a probable range of 53-54. That's a good night for Republicans, although perhaps a bit disappointing given Donald Trump's apparent popular-vote victory.

McCormick is clinging to a small lead against Casey in Pennsylvania.

Damn, I thought we could win 55-56.

NOTE: thanks to work, I have to prepare my Wednesday post on Tuesday evening. As a result, I am writing this before anything is known about election returns and this post is just "election-adjacent" - so feel free to go off topic in the comments immediately.

Based on overnight returns, though, congratulations to Trump 47. Grover Cleveland welcomes you to his very exclusive club.

The "snowflake" meme to describe emotionally weak Millennials took hold because it is so apt - but it is not just Millennials, and it is not just emotional weakness. To freak out and need babying like we saw in 2016 and 2020 requires both emotional weakness and mental fragility. These kids' brains are made of glass, and will shatter with the slightest bump.

They're back at it again this year. One of the funniest examples this time around comes from a big name university: Georgetown. Specifically, it comes from that university's McCourt School of Public Policy. The coddling and care being shown to your future bureaucrat and NGO overlords, groomed and trained at a prominent institution in the heart of the government jungle, is hilarious. It's a whole day of events to cushion the glass brains in attendance.

Feels good moving to Wisconsin from New York where my vote perhaps at long last made a difference.

Please God let Trump's win hold. Open thread as I am still without a laptop. Maybe today or tomorrow I'll have it back. That's what the tech seemed to hint at.

You know what will be fun? When angry old dementia patient Joe Biden starts running his mean old man mouth.

Think about it: They kicked him out of the campaign. Then they wouldn't even let him appear with Kamala. After his "garbage" comment, they took away his computer privileges and locked him in the basement.

Think Mean Old Man Joe will have stuff to say about Pelosi, Obama, and Kamala?

Of course he'll also make threats against Trump and say he's going to beat him up. Better watch that, though: The Secret Service just gave Trump full presidential protection. If Biden keeps it up with his threats, he might just get charged with threatening the president of the United States.

CNN Calls Georgia for Trump
Harris Sends Out Campaign Co-Chair to Tell Staff to Go Home, Kamala Will Not Be Talking Tonight

The networks aren't calling Georgia, CNN says, because Trump's lead is only 150,000, and there are about 100,000 outstanding votes to be counted, and they come from places that lean "slightly Harris."

So obviously, we need to delay calling this to find out of the 100,000 votes are all cast for Harris, and even if they are all cast for Harris, they still don't make up the 150,000 vote deficit.

But you never know what kind of Special Delivery Ballot Suitcases might show up!

Republicans Winning Senate Races in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin -- Three FLIPS from D to R

Winning by 2.5% (or around there) with most of the vote in.

The fear right now is that the networks are providing cover for the steal by refusing to call races that are clearly over. Compare their refusal to call Georgia with their rush to call states like Arizona in 2020.

Why are they doing that?

Because, as Kamala Harris told her staff, they intend to "finish strong" tomorrow.
