Newly released video HBO provided to congressional investigators shows former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi claiming responsibility for the lack of police preparedness on Jan. 6, 2021, in Washington, D.C., while she was fleeing the Capitol. The video, shot by Pelosi’s daughter Alexandra, shows an irate Pelosi complaining about a lack of accountability for the incident. “We have responsibility, Terry! We did not have any accountability for what was going on there, and we should have. This is ridiculous!” Pelosi exclaimed. She then expressed contempt for what she appeared to feel was a late request for National Guard troops to help quell the situation. “You’re gonna ask me in the middle of the thing, when they’ve already breached the inaugural stuff, ‘should we call the Capitol Police?’ I mean the National Guard. Why weren’t the National Guard there to begin with?” “They thought that they had sufficient resources …” her Chief of Staff Terri McCullough answered, before Pelosi interjected. “It’s not a question of how they had … they don’t know! They clearly didn’t know, and I take responsibility for not having them just prepare for more,” Pelosi concluded. . . . Congressional leaders, including Pelosi, chose not to deploy the National Guard early over concerns of “optics” amid 2020’s Black Lives Matter riots, according to a 2022 GOP report. Additionally, then-Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley’s fear former President Trump would commandeer the military for political reasons allegedly influenced the delay of deploying the National Guard, D.C. National Guard witnesses testified in April. The FBI and Department of Homeland Security had information beforehand that would suggest impending chaos and violence at the Capitol, but they failed to warn about or recognize it, according to a 2022 Senate report. They also allegedly ignored or downplayed a “massive amount” of intelligence.
Remember, It was Trump and his staff that begged Pelosi to deploy the troops and she refused. Also, as Speaker of the House it was Pelosi that was in charge of the Capitol Police. And it was the latter that opened the doors of the Capitol to the so-called rioters who were not engaged in anything even remotely resembling a riot. And it was Capitol Cop Michael Byrd who shot and murdered unarmed peaceful protester Ashli Babbitt in cold blood, while his colleagues beat and stomped to death unarmed Roseanne Boyland. Pelosi and her goon squad Capitol cops plus Federal agent stooges and Antifa agents provocateurs let all of the protesters in and egged them on to misbehave, like lambs to the slaughter, in these two instances quite literally, all so that they could use this fake Reichstag Fire as a pretext to destroy Trump and everyone who voted for him. And here we are four years later, with political prisoners rotting in jail and Donald Trump put up in front of Soviet show trials. But there are winds of change blowing. Just as in Europe with the latest round of elections
And closer to home, this is happening in Hartford CT:
In political philosophy class, my students and I make quick work of exposing the yarn that “the people” create the government, (i.e. the polis) to protect lives and property from attacks and threats of attack by other people. First, that implies that the imposition of the polis is voluntary, which is counter to the very difference between a polis and society. All political systems are imposed on people, while interpersonal agreements in society are voluntary. But, second, the idea that “people” create the polis in order to protest their lives and property is undercut by the fact that the government mandates that you cough up portions of your wealth in order to fund it. That’s called a protection racket, not real protection, and residents of Hartford, Connecticut are starting to expose just how fallacious and unworkable that philosophical mythology actually is. Bryan Llenas reports for Fox News that numerous residents of crime-ridden Hartford, Connecticut have taken up arms to defend their neighborhood, after seeing the utter incompetence and waste of the government-based police force that eats their tax cash like carpenter ants eat the timber-frames of one’s home. “The so-called "Self-Defense Brigade" — made up of about 40 legally armed citizens — are voluntarily patrolling the streets of Hartford’s North End wearing body cameras mostly on nights and weekends, according to the group’s founder, Cornell Lewis.” Hold on, now. How can people protect THEMSELVES? And with firearms, no less!Hartford isn't exactly a hotbed of white supremacist MAGA supporters, is it? There's also this:
The situation is summed up succinctly by Chris Moya, a Florida lobbyist who represents charter schools. “If your product is better, you’ll be fine. The problem is that they (traditional ZIP-code-mandated schools) are a relic of the past — a monopolized system where you have one option. And when parents have options, they vote with their feet.”
The momentum for school choice is accelerating rapidly. Eleven states, home to around 23% of all public school students, now offer universal choice.
Let freedom ring.

The Bee on America's Sweetheart:

The Bee, again:

From Hot Air, the WSJ reports that the indecent left is arguing for a Right to Keep Jews as Hostages.
Blaming Israel for Rescuing Its PeopleWhy did the Israelis shoot innocent "Palestinian civilians"? I don't know but it might have something to do with those "innocent Palestinian civilians" firing machine guns at them as they extracted the hostages held in terrorist captivity for 245 days. Foreign colonizers are setting up No Go Zones for Jews and California's traitorous political class is empowering them to do so.
The non-surprise is that professional anti-Israel voices, United Nations officials and the European Union foreign-policy chief rushed to attack Israel. Egypt condemned the operation "in the strongest terms." How dare Israel rescue its own citizens. Didn't it know there would be casualties? The BBC asked whether Israel gave a warning that the rescue raid was coming. Seriously? A tip-off to terrorists? Perhaps read them Miranda rights too. "BREAKING: Gaza's Health Ministry says 274 Palestinians were killed during the Israeli operation," reports the Associated Press, only 48 hours after it had exposed how the Hamas ministry's daily death tolls are "at odds with underlying data." When will the media stop taking the kidnappers at their word? Haters of Israel will blame it and excuse Hamas every time, and the media are easily manipulated into playing along.
In the lawsuit, Frankel v. The Regents of the University of California, the plaintiffs claim that pro-Hamas/anti-Israel protesters set up barricades on the Los Angeles campus, effectively creating a "Jewish Exclusion Zone." Beckett Law states that after creating the encampment, protesters not only constructed barriers but also linked arms to prevent Jewish students from accessing the most popular areas on campus. They also imposed an ideological test, and those whose views were deemed to be sufficiently anti-Israel were issued wristbands and allowed to pass unmolested through the "checkpoints." By contrast, Beckett law says that Jewish students were harassed and even assaulted. Law student Yitzchok Frankel was forced to find other ways to reach his classes because his route was blocked by the exclusion zone. Sophomore Joshua Ghayoum could not attend classes or study sessions because of the zone and the antisemitic activities on campus. Additionally, he was forced to listen to chants of "death to the Jews" and "death to Israel." Eden Shemuelian had trouble getting to her final exams because of the zones and had to listen to the vitriol from the encampment as she tried to study. These, said Beckett Law, are just three examples of the problems faced by Jewish students at UCLA.Checkpoints for Jews -- all supported by the Regime. You'll never believe this -- a respected Palestinian journalist was brutally murdered by Israeli thugs in his home! I mean, sure, this journalist was a bit more open than Jake Tapper about his disgusting pro-terrorist agenda, holding Israelis hostage in his home, but apart from that -- completely innocent!
He was a Gentle Giant who was just turning his life around. He hoped to record a rap album and enroll at CUNY.
Three of four hostages rescued by special forces from the central Gaza Strip over the weekend were being held at the home of Abdallah Aljamal, a Palestinian journalist and member of the Hamas terror group, the Israeli military confirmed on Sunday. Rumors had circulated on social media after Ramy Abdu, head of the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, said in a post on X that soldiers had climbed into the Aljamals' home during the raid in Nuseirat on Saturday, killing several members of the family, including Abdallah and his father, Dr. Ahmed Aljamal. Abdu published an image ostensibly from the Aljamals' home alongside his post, though he made no mention of the possibility that hostages were held there.

Watching the coverage this week out of Delaware was like finding oneself in a parallel universe. There were ABC, NBC, CBS, the Washington Post and other news outlets reporting matter-of-factly that the Hunter Biden laptop showed no evidence of tampering and was both real and authentic. These are the same outlets, and some of the same reporters, who eagerly spread the false claims that the laptop was "Russian disinformation." Yet, what followed the testimony of FBI agent Erika Jensen was absolute crickets. There was no effort to track down the signatories of the now-debunked letter from former intelligence officials just before the election. In the letter, figures such as Leon Panetta, former CIA director in the Obama administration, claimed that the laptop had all the markings of a Russian disinformation effort by intelligence services. (Panetta continued to make the assertion even in late 2023 in pushing what the federal government is now calling a "conspiracy theory.") There was no attempt by the media to confront associates of the Biden campaign (including now Secretary of State Antony Blinken) who pushed a long effort to get former intelligence officials to sign a letter. There was no attempt to question President Joe Biden, who made this false claim in the presidential election to deflect any questions about the evidence of corrupt influence peddling on the laptop. Years ago, I wrote that the Biden campaign had pulled off the single greatest political trick in history. As I wrote back then, the key to this Houdini-esque trick was to get the media to invest in the deception like audience members called to the stage. Houdini used to make his elephant Jennifer disappear on stage every night because he knew that the audience wanted her to disappear. They were part of the act. The Bidens made the media part of the act, and these reporters have to back the illusion or admit that they were part of the deception. They are all laptop deniers, but they know that there are few who will call them to account for their conspiracy theory. Rather, it is social media where readers can see videos of leading media claiming that the laptop is the work of Russian intelligence.Turley is still salty about the Washington Post's Democrat opeative Philip Bump continuing to insist the laptop was fake-- with the Post backing him up to the hilt, despite having verified it themselves.
Indeed, the Washington Post has continued to suggest that this reporting was accurate. One of the leading purveyors of this false story was the Post's Philip Bump, who slammed the New York Post for its now proven Hunter Biden laptop story. In 2021, when media organizations were finally admitting that the laptop was authentic, Bump was still declaring that it was a "conspiracy theory." Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, Bump continued to suggest that "the laptop was seeded by Russian intelligence." After Bump had a meltdown in an interview when confronted over past false claims, I wrote a column about the litany of such false claims. The Post surprised many of us by issuing a statement that they stood by all of Bump's reporting, including the laptop conspiracy theory. That was in August 2023.Hunter Biden had his own daughter take the stand to lie for him. (White Trash Family Values.) It did not go well. She tried to claim that Hunter was at the "clearest" he'd been in a long time in and around the time he bought a gun. The defense is trying to prove that while Hunter was doing drugs before the gun purchase, and after the gun purchase, he was totally clean and non-addicted in the hour it took him to buy a gun. But her own text messages demonstrated he wasn't "clear" during this period at all.
Doesn't matter, of course -- the Regime rigs all of its trials.
Naomi testified that when she visited her father at a California rehab center in August 2018, he appeared the "clearest" he'd been since his brother Beau's death in 2015. She testified that she told her father she was "proud" of him and noted that he seemed "great" and "hopeful" when she saw him again in mid-October. But, everything changed when the prosecution introduced text messages that contradicted her description of Hunter's state at that time, just days after he bought a gun in Delaware and claimed he wasn't using drugs. According to a report from Axios, Hunter's legal was so caught off guard that they "scrambled in the aftermath of Naomi's testimony and unexpectedly withdrew a witness -- likely the president's brother Jimmy, who was at the courthouse and was on the defense's list of possible witnesses."
Hunter's defense team lamely acknowledged his addiction but tried to show he had a period of sobriety from crack cocaine -- not alcohol -- around the time he bought the gun. Even if that were true, that's a pretty lame defense.

Far-right parties made big gains in the European Parliament in election results that rattled the traditional powers and made French President Emmanuel Macron call snap legislative elections.By "far-right" they mean "supporting limits on immigration." Which everyone except the woke left does. So everyone apart from the hardcore extremists of the woke left are now "far-right."
Macron's party suffered a heavy defeat from the far-right National Rally party, while in Germany support for Olaf Scholz's center-left Social Democrats sank to a projected 14%, behind the extreme-right Alternative for Germany, which surged into second place. Millions of Europeans voted for candidates to serve five-year terms in a new European Parliament, the legislative branch of the 27-member trade bloc. Provisional results from the voting that ended Sunday showed the Christian Democrats would have 189 seats, up 13, the Social Democrats 135, down 4 and the pro-business Renew group 83, down 19. The Greens slumped to 53, down 18.Emmanuel Macron, who was forced to greet American veterans while "Doctor" Jill Biden wiped Joe's ass of the poppie, has called for snap elections to try to strengthen his grasp. The EU Parliament elections don't have anything to do (directly) with the French National Assembly, but I guess he wants a show of force against the "far-right."
In an address to the nation from the Elysee presidential palace, Macron said: "I've decided to give you back the choice of our parliamentary future through the vote. I am therefore dissolving the National Assembly." The vote will take place in two rounds on June 30 and July 7, he said. The move comes as first projected results from France on Sunday put the far-right National Rally party well ahead in the European Union's parliamentary election, defeating Macron's pro-European centrists, according to French opinion poll institutes.Correction: I initially wrote under the mistaken premise that Macron was calling for a presidential election. He's not. The French system has a vote for the National Assembly and an entirely separate vote for President. The NR could make gains in the Assembly. I confused it with the British system in which the parliamentary vote produces a national leader -- the majority coalition picks the PM. In the French system, the president is installed by a separate vote for that office. Then the president picks the PM. It's the presidency I don't think they can win.
Germany has ruled the AfD a threat to democracy and its spy agencies claim a right to surveil the party and interfere in elections. But they increased their representation in the EU Parliament, too. Huh -- a popular party that refutes the claims made by the unpopular leftwing coalition is a "threat to democracy" and must be subverted by the intelligence agencies. Where have I heard this before? It's all done to Save Muh Democracy, remember.
Germany's unpopular governing parties sank to feeble results and the far-right Alternative for Germany made gains in Sunday's vote for the European Parliament, while the mainstream conservative opposition was the country's strongest political force by a distance, projections showed. Projections for ARD and ZDF public television, based on exit polls and partial counting, showed support for Chancellor Olaf Scholz's center-left Social Democrats at around 14%, below the 15.8% they managed in 2019 -- already their worst post-World War II result in a nationwide vote. After a campaign in which Scholz played a prominent role, the Social Democrats fell more than 10 points short of their showing in Germany's last national election in 2021. Alternative for Germany, or AfD, was seen winning just over 16% of the vote for a probable second-place finish. That's better than its showing of 11% in 2019 but still some way short of its poll ratings at the beginning of the year. The party has seen a string of setbacks since then, including scandals surrounding its two lead candidates for the European Parliament.Italy's Georgia Meloni has been strengthened by the vote.
Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni hosts this week's summit of the Group of Seven industrialized nations as the most stable European Union leader. Meloni's German and French counterparts were shaken by European parliamentary elections that fortified Meloni's far-right Brothers of Italy as the strongest in Italy, setting her up as a possible bridge maker, if not kingmaker, in Europe. Meloni's solid results create a rare stability in Italian politics, as far-right parties rattled both French President Emmanuel Macron, who called snap elections after his party was eclipsed by Marine Le Pen's National Rally, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, whose authority suffered a jolt after the far-right Alternative for German finished second, beating his Social Democrats. "I am proud that this nation presents itself at the G7, and in Europe, as the strongest government of all,'' Meloni told supporters early Monday. "This is something that has never happened in the past, and which is happening now. It is a satisfaction, and also a great responsibility.''The "centrist" Polish PM barely clinged to power but the populist right gained in support.
Many viewed Tusk's return to power last year as a rare case of a democratic party prevailing over populist and authoritarian forces. However, while Sunday's win solidified his position, the results also showed that his lead is small, and that support for the far right is rising. There's that "far right" again. In Belgium, the "far right" party failed to garner the most votes, being held off by the "right wing" party.
Flemish nationalist parties dominated general elections in Belgium on Sunday as Prime minister Alexander De Croo’s liberal party took a hit, with difficult coalition talks to form a new government now looming. Despite polls predicting that the far-right, anti-immigration Vlaams Belang party would become the main political force in the country with 11.5 million inhabitants, the right-wing nationalist New Flemish Alliance (N-VA) retained its first spot, with an expected 22% of the votes, according to provisional results provided by the Interior ministry. The Vlaams Belang came in second position, with a share of 17.5%, ahead of the Socialist Voruit party, which garnered about 10.5% of the votes.I think the "far right" party (this is AP's term) was probably hurt by a surge in voting for Flemish separatist parties. You can imagine that voters sick of the system might skip right past the "far right" alternative and just vote for a National Divorce from the Regime. The populist leader of Hungary won another election with 44% of the vote and with a majority of the representatives in parliament, but the AP brands it a loss. The AP calls the loss by Orban's main challenger a "major win."
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's nationalist party took the most votes in Sunday's European Parliament elections but sharply underperformed its past dominance in a race that pitted the long-serving leader against a new challenger that has upended Orbán's grip on Hungarian politics. With 85% of votes counted, Orbán's Fidesz party had 44% of the vote, enough to send 11 delegates of Hungary's 21 total seats in the European Union's legislature. While Fidesz took a plurality of votes, it was down sharply from 52% support in 2019 EU elections and looked set to lose two seats in what was widely seen as a referendum on Orbán's popularity."Down sharply" from a majority to a large plurality. Cope and seethe, AP. Cope and seethe.
Still, while speaking to supporters at a party event Sunday, Orbán claimed victory over his opponents. He claimed victory. I mean, he actually won, but the AP thinks his opponent won a moral victory, so he's lying when he "claims" a victory. Dee you lying vicious bitch.

Whenever Poochie isn't in a commercial, they want people to ask, "Where's Poochie?"
We know how "appealing to the young audience" has been working for Hollywood so far, so this should be another huge success.
Hollywood elites launch "cringe" PAC to help Biden fight cringe Joe Biden's campaign is losing its grip on the youth vote, which he dominated in 2020. In response, allies have formed a super PAC, Won't PAC Down, aimed at recapturing this crucial demographic by leveraging Hollywood talent to create targeted content that attempts to steer away from cringeworthy tactics and craft a more authentic appeal. Key Details: Won't PAC Down, a new super PAC, aims to spend $20 million to $25 million to regain Biden's support among young voters. The PAC has enlisted millennial and Gen Z writers, directors, and producers from popular shows to craft pro-Biden content.
Ads will be specifically designed for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube to reach young, nonpolitical voters. Diving Deeper: ... The PAC has turned to Hollywood for help, recruiting millennial and Gen Z writers, directors, and producers with backgrounds in popular shows like "Saturday Night Live" and "Parks and Recreation."SNL, huh? Young people love watching TV shows their grandparents watched. And the writers are so good! This will be as successful as DEI Medicine! SNL has already been propagandizing for Granpa Felonyfingers for five years -- why hasn't it worked yet with The Youth Vote?
These creatives have been working on ad campaigns designed to appeal to young voters who have become increasingly disillusioned with Biden over issues such as the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, environmental concerns, student loan debt, and inflation. Won't PAC Down's strategy involves avoiding supposedly cringey, traditional celebrity endorsements and instead creating relatable and engaging content tailored for social media platforms like Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube, but has already been hit as "cringe" by commentators.

Terrorist outlet the Washington Post cries about how many Poor Palestinians Israel killed in rescuing the people held hostage for 245 days and counting by the government elected by the Poor Palestinians.
Oh no! A "deadly wall of fire"! While Hamas terrorists fired on Israeli soldiers attempting to rescue hostages. They should have just brought Social Workers. #DefundTheIsraeliPolice
Inside Israel's hostage rescue: Secret plans and a deadly 'wall of fire'
I'm suuuure he "didn't know."
JERUSALEM -- It was a busy weekend morning in the market at the Nuseirat refugee camp, Osama Abu Asi recalled. Fighting could be heard in the distance, but it didn't keep away the shoppers, who perused the few bags of flour and sugar he had spread on his blanket. Abu Asi said he did not know that nearby, in an apartment one floor above the street, sat a young, dark-haired woman known around the world -- last seen in a viral video clip being driven into Gaza on the back of motorcycle on Oct. 7, screaming, "Don't kill me!" She was Noa Argamani, one of about 250 Israeli hostages taken captive by Hamas.
Her 245th day in captivity had started like most others until, shortly after 11 a.m., she heard a knock at the door, followed by yelling. Suddenly, the room was filled with Israeli soldiers. "You are being rescued!" they shouted in Hebrew. "They simply came, just like that," Argamani, 26, would tell her close friend Yan Gorjaltsan hours later. The rescue operation on Saturday that freed four Israeli hostages and killed more than 270 Palestinians, according to Gaza health officials, was one of the most dramatic and deadly episodes of Israel's war against Hamas. This account is based on more than a dozen interviews with former and current Israeli military officials, family members of hostages, and Palestinian eyewitnesses, as well as analysis of verified video footage.Once again citing "Gaza health officials" without pointing out that these "health officials" are controlled by Hamas and permit Hamas to build its military bases and hostage prisons beneath their hospitals.
The crowded streets. Well, that's where Hamas chose to keep its hostages. Should Israel have gone to a less-crowded spot, where no hostages were being kept? You know what was crowded? The youth music festival Hamas killers machine-gunned and stole women from.
Argamani and three other Israeli hostages would be extracted from central Gaza and reunited with family in a complex daylight operation involving thousands of troops, technicians and analysts. It was planned for weeks and executed smoothly, Israeli officials said, until the tight commando raid turned into a firefight with militants. The Israeli military responded with a massive aerial assault on the crowded streets of Nuseirat.
And yet he lived. A lot of Pallywood actors claim all kinds of things. I've seen the same 25 year old Terror Influencer killed about ten times.
The bombs kept falling and the streets echoed with screams, Abu Asi said. It was like "doomsday."
Oh no, the Israeli special forces used subterfuge to get close to the hostages before Hamas could start killing them. That's a War Crime they must be prosecuted for!
Since Oct. 7, Israeli intelligence units, with help from their U.S. counterparts, have studied digital clues, drone footage and intercepts to locate the hostages. Recently, they locked in on Nuseirat as the current location for four captives who had been taken from a desert dance rave just outside the border fence with Gaza. Among them was Argamani, whose wrenching pleas for mercy were among the defining images from the Hamas-led attacks on southern Israel. Officials from the Israel Defense Forces said they knew she had been moved around Gaza more than once during her in time in captivity. Analysts confirmed she was now being held alone in a first-floor apartment; three other hostages -- Almog Meir Jan, 22, Andrey Kozlov, 27, and Shlomi Ziv, 41 -- were on the third floor of a building nearby. Planning began in tight secrecy. Mock-ups of the two buildings were constructed for troops to rehearse in, officials said. It mirrored the preparations undertaken by Israeli commandos before their famed rescue of more than 100 hostages in Entebbe, Uganda, in 1976. For weeks, members of Yamam, a special counterterrorism unit; Shin Bet, the country's internal security agency; and the IDF drilled over and over for a rare daylight mission. "We understood that in those apartments with those guards, daytime will be the ultimate surprise," said Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, an IDF spokesman. It would mean greater risk getting into and out of the buildings. And it would mean more Palestinian civilians on the streets. ... Thousands of personnel were involved in the operation, IDF officials said. It took about 25 minutes for special forces to drive from Israel to Nuseirat. How they got there is still unclear. Palestinian witnesses described some troops arriving in two undercover vehicles, one of which resembled the trucks used by Israel to bring commercial goods into Gaza. The other was a white Mercedes truck, piled high with furniture and other belongings, a common sight in a camp that's home to thousands of displaced families. "The IDF made no use of any civilian trucks," the military said in a statement. Two videos verified by The Washington Post show a box truck marked with a brand of dishwashing soap traveling in the company of Israeli armored vehicles on a road about a mile west of the raid. The vehicles head west, away from Nuseirat, and it is unclear whether the videos were filmed before or after the raid.
No worries about Hamas using ambulances to move troops and weapons, of course. But those cheating Jews used furniture trucks. This aggression must not stand.
The white Mercedes is visible in a third verified video filmed from the balcony of a residential building in the center of the camp. Two ladders can be seen resting against the side of a house, leading to an upper floor next to the truck. "Here they have arrived," says the voice of the woman who furtively filmed the six-second scene.
He was totally innocent. The Israelis fired on this innocent man for no reason at all! He wasn't a Hamas guard or anything. Gaza health officials and his family members say so.
Hussam al-Arouqi, 33, was returning from the bakery with his brother Issam, he recounted, when two men in plainclothes and about 10 heavily armed soldiers poured out of the back of the Mercedes. The soldiers opened fire, hitting his brother three times, he said. "He fell to the ground and started bleeding" and tried to crawl away, Hussam said, adding that Apache helicopters were flying low overhead. It was more than an hour, he said, before it was safe enough to reach Issam and take him to the hospital in a donkey-drawn cart. Issam remains in critical condition.
The Washington Post is trying to sell the idea that because Israeli troops got close to the hostages using disguised vehicles, they were therefore "illegal combatants." It is against the rules of war for fighters to not wear visible uniforms. Here's the reason Israel might feel that that rule should be suspended:
Israeli troops succeeded in reaching Argamani's apartment without tipping off her guards, according to Hagari, who was watching video feeds from drones circling above and soldiers' helmet cameras. Almost simultaneously, other units entered the building holding the three male hostages, about 220 yards away. "In Noa Argamani's building, we surprised them completely," Hagari said. The stunned young woman was bustled down the stairs into a vehicle and driven to a helicopter waiting nearby. Soldiers relayed the good news with a coded phrase: "We have the diamond in our hand."
Hen Mazzig
@HenMazzig Hamas terrorists have issued "standing orders" to kill hostages if they suspect an imminent IDF rescue mission, Israeli officials told the New York Times. The NYT writes that if other hostages were killed on Saturday, as Hamas has claimed, it is because Hamas puts hostages in civilian areas as human shields - a heinous war crime that must be condemned. The US & UK assisted the IDF rescue op with drones, comms monitoring & widespread UAV deployment to track hostages. Israel goes to great lengths to avoid harming civilians, while Hamas exploits their suffering for PR. The world must recognize Hamas' depravity & hold them accountable for these atrocities against Israelis & Palestinians alike.
The Crybully Nonsense Network continues sh*tting the bed.
CNN came in for sharp criticism Saturday after running a segment that said Israeli hostages rescued in the daring morning operation in Gaza had been released. Network anchor Victor Blackwell and Ian Bremmer, founder of the Eurasia Group, were both discussing the dramatic mission to save the four hostages when the word "release" appeared in a chyron. Critics pounced, pointing out that Hamas did not willingly release these hostages. "Come on @CNN the four hostages were RESCUED not released. Do better," said the account StopAntisemitism in a posting to X. Yaari Cohen, an Israeli student called the chyron "disgusting, adding that the network "should be ashamed." "Hamas didn't "release" these Hostages, the IDF rescued them after Hamas held them for 8 months!!" Cohen said on X. Neither man said the word "release," during the interview, which was about how Israel's war cabinet minister Benny Gantz would hold off on a press conference in which he was widely expected to quit the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.Leftwing Hamas supporter Krystal Ball (seriously) seethed that the IDF killed some of Hamas' human shields in affecting a rescue of its people:
Krystal Ball274? Is that what the totally-independent and credible Gaza Ministry of Health says? And how many of those killed were Hamas fighters? Zero, right? The IDF went in to rescue its citizens from terrorist captivity and somehow killed 274 women and children and zero armed men? And what do you mean by "and possibly kill others"? You mean that Hamas will murder its other hostages in retaliation, yes? But they're the good guys you're fighting for, right?
@krystalball
274 Palestinians killed in a bloody massacre to rescue 4 Israelis (and possibly kill others) and this is being celebrated by US politicians as a win. Depraved.

I'm sorry that your terrorist friends kidnapped civilians. Maybe tell them to surrender and free the hostages?
David Reaboi, Late Republic Nonsense
@davereaboi
What'' happening here is that the people who'd hold Israeli hostages in their homes are outing themselves. They only feel sympathy for the terrorists because they identity strongly with them--knowing Hamas gets to do to the Jews what they hope they'd do, if given the chance.
Kyle ShidelerHe means the left used to claim they'd "hide Jews in the attic" to protect them from Alt-Right Nazis. Now they say they'll "hide Jews in the attic" on behalf of Hamas, to keep the IDF from finding them. Let's remember who is to blame for any deaths caused in freeing hostages: the hostage-takers. Or is this too complex a notion for the leftwing radicals to undertand?
@ShidelerK
We've gone from the left insisting "I'd hide Jews in my attic" to the left insisting "I'd hide Jews in my attic" in the space of a decade.
Terrorist propagandist Mehdi Hasan, formerly of MSNBC (but don't worry, Jake Tapper has him on as a guest so he'll still be in the American leftwing media) has thoughts:

Biden Considers Granting Amnesty to One Million+ More Illegals
Biden puts out the word that he's "cracking down" on illegal aliens to help him with actual American voters, while his real policy continues to be mass amnesty, granted quietly so that only the affected illegals will know.
The White House is considering granting deportation relief to more than one million people who entered the US illegally before marrying American citizens. The assist to so-called "mixed-status couples" is seen as another concession to would-be Democratic voters ahead of the Nov. 5 election -- and would follow potential executive action by Biden to tighten border security, the Wall Street Journal reports. The outlet added that administration officials believe any backlash over an amnesty order would be tempered by voter sympathy for the couples. How can you stand in the way of love, racist? Granting amnesty to a million people won't affect you at all. A final decision is not imminent, but the Journal reported the idea has been gaining traction since the summer of 2023. So weird but I feel like I've heard all of this before. Love Is Love, Bigot: The Sequel.
Meanwhile, all of the Newcomers Who Are The Best Of Us (TM) are adopting antifa/BLM disruption tactics. They're protesting Biden's Fake Policy of pretending to limit illegal entry into the US to 4,000 illegal border crossers per day. That's too much enforcement, they say, and they'll strangle the economy to stop it.
According to the immigration advocacy group Fwd.us, around 1.1 million illegal immigrants are married to American citizens. While immigrants who marry Americans typically qualify for green cards, many "mixed-status" couples have one partner who is ineligible for legal permanent residency for various reasons -- including entering the US illegally more than once or using forged legal papers. Should the White House go forward with its plan, it is likely to implement a "parole in place" program, a version of which already allows spouses, parents or children of active-duty military and veterans to remain in the US in one-year increments, per the WSJ. Any program would also only apply to those who entered the country unlawfully, as opposed to someone who immigrated legally and overstayed their visa, according to the report.

It is now accepted (and expected) that the economic and financial data being reported by both the federal government and by corporations is massaged into providing reports that are often misleading, and frequently dishonest. Analysts must decipher and recalculate the official reports to try to get a better handle on the unpolished facts. Aside from making it difficult to accurately gauge economic activity, this broadly tolerated dishonesty also reflects on the ethical rot that has taken over our institutions. I am not warning of economic doom. However, I am very concerned that with the government providing falsified economic data, and with corporations becoming aggressive about manipulating financial reporting, we no longer have an accurate picture of economic activity or business health. The fact that those publishing these financial reports feel the need to massage the data is alarming all by itself, and the enthusiasm in financial circles to embrace what are clearly dishonest reports is a form of willful blindness. I have written repeatedly about how the government’s economic reports are fraudulent. The Bureau of Labor Statistics habitually publishes favorable numbers regarding jobs and unemployment, then quietly does negative revisions after the initial euphoric headlines. Likewise, the BLS’ official inflation figures are laughably understated. Just this past week, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported some great economic news, “U.S. adds a much-better-than-expected 272,000 jobs in May”. But this was despite the unemployment rate increasing to 4%. Meanwhile, the BLS also reported that the labor participation rate has decreased. Excuse me, but my brain is struggling to reconcile an increase in the number of jobs, concurrent with a decrease in the number of Americans working, while at the same time the unemployment rate increases.
The increase came even though the labor force participation rate decreased to 62.5%, down 0.2 percentage point. The survey of households used to compute the unemployment rate showed that the level of people who reported holding jobs fell by 408,000.Either there is some fraudulent reporting by the BLS that will be “adjusted” in the future, or jobs are being lost at a much faster rate than new jobs are being created. Meanwhile, corporations are starting to abandon the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (“GAAP”
US regulators in recent years have become increasingly concerned with companies’ usage of non-GAAP measures, with the Securities and Exchange Commission sending letters to various businesses asking about the rationale for stripping out certain expenses. The rationale is that corporations sometimes incur extraordinary expenses that do not recur every year, therefore they should be added back to net income for reporting purposes, since those expenses don’t reflect normal operations. The trouble with this reasoning is that while a specific expense may be non-recurring, it can be expected that there will be numerous different non-recurring expenses that will occur regularly, all of which consume cash, and all of which will reduce the true GAAP bottom line. Think of your own household and the various non-recurring expenses that periodically happen, even though they are not part of your regular monthly household operating budget, e.g. the new tires, the broken window, the A/C compressor, etc. None of these is likely to happen in any given year, but you are not able to “adjust” your checkbook upward when these household expenses do happen.

The error is actually fairly subtle, but it's another one of those cases where multiple individual bad ideas* combine to create a disaster.
In this case, the account ID for new users was not assigned when the user was created, but in each worker thread when the server was started up.
Nobody saw this during testing because they were restarting the server all the time, and each restart generated a new pool of available user IDs.
But the moment things were working... They stopped working.
* Interpreted, weakly typed languages, database definitions in generic code, and using fucking ChatGPT, for starters.

Now, you'd think the press would be very interested to know why hostages were being held in "civilian" homes in the middle of a "refugee camp." That would seem the most prudent question when discussing casualties as a result of the rescue operation. Instead, they simply went to bat for Hamas.
Free countries have been conducting wars for a very long time, and they have killed lots and lots of civilians. It is the reality of war. And the lines are blurred, even absent the enthusiastic support that Gazans give to Hamas and their genocidal (yes...the correct use of the term) efforts against Jews and Israel. Is it appropriate to bomb armaments factories, knowing that workers will be killed? Of course. Is it appropriate to rescue POWs (let alone hostages), knowing that there will be unintended casualties? Of course. Well...except for Israel. The lone Jewish state in the world is held to an impossibly high standard. Warn the "civilians" or it will be vilified. Do not prosecute a war against a savage and brutal terrorist organization, lest "civilians" be killed. In fact, no matter what Israel does, it will be vilified. What is the answer? In the absence of any rational response on the part of world leaders, it is entirely appropriate for Israel to relax the rules of engagement, and prosecute the war against Hamas (and the coming war against Hezbollah) with maximum speed and ferocity. It is blindingly obvious that the vicious criticism of Israel's actions, no matter how humane, is based not on some heightened moral code, but on the centuries-old hatred of Jews, Judaism, and the modern state of Israel. A ruthless and rapid operation against the remaining Hamas forces and its infrastructure could be completed in a matter of a few weeks, and could stay ahead of the expected vitriol and condemnation from the world. Then Israel could shift to mopping up the remnants, and announce to the world that major military operations are at an end.
