The Badman Open Thread

I didn't like Pete Holmes superhero parody stuff because I'm a self-hating nerd who hates when people pander to me with nerdy shit I'm supposed to like.

But then I watched his great impression of Bale Batman and was won over.

Here are his original "Badman" sketches. Most of them are so-so, but there are two must watches. The one at the beginning of that series shows Batman trying out a lot of bad voices, including celebrity impressions, as his "Bat-Voice."

The other great one I linked a few months ago -- it's the climax of The Dark Knight Rises, and Talia al-Ghul wants to explain her evil plot to him, but Batman just wants to keep bragging that he banged her.

A more recent Batman series is called "Bat-Canned," where Batman fires various members of the Justice League, as well as the Robert Pattinson "The Batman" and the Joachin Phoenix Joker. There are also videos of the outtakes for each.

The best ones are Cyborg (despite how lame that character is), "the Batman," and Superman. The Joker one is okay. The Aquaman one is lame, as is the Wonder Woman one.

But for the outtakes, the Wonder Woman one is the best. They really left all their best jokes on the cutting room floor, maybe because they kept laughing at them. Other good outtakes ones include Cyborg again (which has a joke I guess they considered too dark and disturbing for the official video), Superman, and "The Batman."

You might want to watch the Wonder Woman video, as lame as it is, just as a set-up for the very funny outtakes video. Batman is #Based. "It's amazing I haven't gotten canceled yet," he says.

THE MORNING RANT: Independence Day and (Repeatedly) Stolen Lands

It’s sad that Independence Day is a national day of mourning for the American left. This year it’s especially tough for them, since the celebration is even grander due to this being the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

My local paper is honoring the semiquincentennial by running a different story every day which highlight reasons for their shame about being American. In the past week, the featured stories have included slavery, lynchings, the slave trade, the KKK, and segregation. There is no triumph in those stories about what was overcome under the stars and stripes either, just pure venom at what a sinister country this is.

But it’s long been this way. For decades it’s made me sad that the left couldn’t stop hating on America for even one day of the year, but they can’t. I recall listening to the NPR station back in the late ‘90s, and it’s Independence Day coverage was heavily focused on injustices and land theft committed against Native Americans and Mexicans. I fully understood that NPR was providing emotional support to its listeners on a very difficult day. Those of us patriotically celebrating the USA have always caused emotional distress to the left.

Because Democrats are desperately fixated on this country being built on stolen land, they’ll never accept the U.S. as being a legitimate country to take pride in. At this point, all we on the right can do is laugh at them and hope their fervent anti-patriotism propels their party into further disrepute.

At the recent Texas Democratic Convention, it opened with, what else, a land acknowledgement to the native Karankawa Indians. This is what attendees heard: “I would also like to acknowledge that we gather on the traditional homelands of the indigenous peoples of the coastal bend and the area known as Corpus Christi. The Karankawa were the people of Corpus Christi Bay.”

Now listen, I’m a guy who believes it’s imperative to celebrate the good and de-emphasize the bad in those who came before us and helped shape this country, but the Karankawa were so rough that even the “civilized tribes” kept their distance.

The Tonkawas of Central Texas allied with and fought alongside white settlers because the Tonkawas were sandwiched between the Karankawas to the southeast and the Comanches to the northwest. History is complicated, but land acknowledgements aren’t. They are simple, no-cost outlets for white guilt.

But speaking of stolen land - in the great 19th century battles on the Texas frontier between white settlers and Comanches, both sides were fighting over stolen land that neither were native to. The Comanches had been a small, weak Shoshone tribe in the Mountain West until they acquired horses and moved east, creating the powerful “Comancheria empire in the southern plains by displacing the Apaches. Good morning kids. Considering tomorrow is not only Independence Day but the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, I'll try to keep things light, but considering the how, why and what of our nation's founding and the pedal to the metal headlong rush by a sizable percentage of our fellow citizens (at least on paper) to utterly eradicate it by the embracing of political philosophies and principles that are wholly antithetical to the founding and its bedrock core of several thousand years of human development based on Judeo/Christianity and our overcoming of evil, tyranny and the baser instincts of men to deprive their fellow men of life and liberty.

On her social media, Chevalier had bragged about being a Communist and praised Stalin. Now she’ll be a full-time government employee while wielding power over the lives of millions, but it would not have happened without the intersection of pro-terrorist activism and socialism. . . Democrats welcoming their first “Death to America” congresswoman is certainly a trend of sorts.

After Mamdani’s three endorsed candidates, including Chevalier, who oppose Israel and support Islamic terrorism, won, former VP Kamala Harris called to congratulate the Islamic politician and ask him for tips about breathing some life into her own flailing 2028 presidential campaign. . . Oct 7, like Occupy Wall Street or Black Lives Matter, had become a social contagion and a hysterical cause that could be used to recruit a new army of political foot soldiers for the far Left. Riots and clashes blooded them, social media confrontations indoctrinated them and now they’re moving into higher office on behalf of the DSA. . .What is happening is that the Democrats are disintegrating into a radical party even while losing more of the country. The DSA isn’t becoming popular so much as Democrats are becoming so hollowed out that even small groups of pro-Hamas activists can take over the party.

That’s bad news for America, but it’s even worse news for the Democratic Party.

this is not merely about Jews and Israel. In the view of this freak and really everyone like her is that Israel is the little Satan but America is the Great Satan! That was is and always will be the central motivating factor not merely of the DSA but of the Democrat Party as a whole, as it has always been ever since Aaron Burr slaughtered Alexander Hamilton in 1804 and ever since. It cannot be said enough but everything wrong with this country, all the pain, suffering, misery, dislocation and the wastage of blood treasure and human potential is directly the fault of or has been exacerbated by the will to power of the Democrat/Left, period full stop. Since losing the Civil War which they initiated in order to perpetuate slavery, they have done everything they could to seize power even if it meant glomming onto Satan himself to bring this nation down. No evil, perversion or lie was too horrendous to embrace if it got them a fraction of an inch closer to their goals. Even to this day is is evidenced by who and what is the driving force of what once supposedly was one of the two mainstream political parties of the USA. I still marvel how a Gus Hall/Angela Davis boosting card-carrying communist could ever have become a CIA agent let alone rise to head that agency itself. Meh, look who hired him, a dog-eating anti-American Muslim Commie whose principal booster was William Ayers, a man who fantasized about wiping out 25 million people who refused to accept a Weather/Underground run America once he and his cohorts seized power. That might have been back in 1968 but it was only a week or so ago where we had a story about a Democrat candidate who supported the mass roundup of ICE agents and Zionists and their forced castration.

That may be crackpot nuttery, but the frightening thing is not that but this little tidbit that considering the aforementioned should scare the shit out of you.

Nearly one-third of Democrats favor political leaders who identify as democratic socialists, according to a new poll, as recent primary victories by self-described democratic socialists have drawn renewed attention to the Democratic Party’s ideological direction. The Pew Research Center survey comes after democratic socialist candidates scored a series of high-profile Democratic primary victories in recent weeks, including last week’s victories in New York City and Tuesday’s upset of 15-term Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO) by Democratic Socialist candidate Melat Kiros in Colorado, highlighting the movement’s recent electoral momentum.

On that very sour note, we're still standing. But for how much longer? Was the election of President Trump a harbinger or was it merely a speed bump on the road to Hell? And what of the coming of the DSA? Was that a speed bump on our way back on the road to American renewal or is that GOD FORBID a harbinger?

We'll have to wait and see, I suppose and with that I bid you all...

"DECOLONIZE THE STACKS!," say woke librarians, determined to "queer the libraries" and insisting that neutrality in the culture wars is racist.

Critical race theory scholar Kimberlé Crenshaw was the keynote speaker for the American Library Association's annual Conference and Exhibition, she writes. Sessions reflected "a mishmash of critical theory argle-bargle," including "Charting Queer Visibility," "Read Trans Books," "Queer Kidlit Joy," "Decolonizing the Stacks," and "Cultivating Radical Empathy."

The ALA has enormous influence over K-12 libraries through its school library division, which sets standards, guidance, and so-called "best practices," Sanzi writes. It "shapes what books are purchased, displayed, and promoted," and fights "efforts to place age-appropriate limits on sexually explicit or heavily ideological materials."

The ALA explicitly rejected viewpoint neutrality in 2021, she writes. A resolution claims libraries have contributed to white supremacy and fascism through a "misplaced emphasis on neutrality."

Libraries are no longer positioned as open forums for ideas where texts from different viewpoints are celebrated. Instead, they are tightly curated spaces, dedicated to advancing a particular set of revolutionary values.

Librarians are expected to celebrate "queer visibility" and "trans books," promoting "a specific (and not especially widely held) perspective on gender and sexuality."

Localities should mass-fire these woke librarians. They should pass ordinances forbidding woke ideology in librarian jobs. I don't even want to hear that's not viewpoint-neutral -- they explicitly reject viewpoint neutrality themselves.

The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that states can keep boys from competing in girls sports. That's a no brainer decision. But 23 states still allow boys to compete in girls sports. This decision doesn't change that. And all three liberals said boys should be able to compete as girls.

All three votes to allow men to play women's sports were from women, by the way. The biggest obstacle to sanity in women's sports doesn't come from men, it comes from left wing women.

A man (Samantha Tempest, here abbreviated to ST) is arguing in court that he belongs in a group for menopausal women. It is pointed out to him that menopause is the cessation of ovulation and that, being a man who never started, let alone ceased, ovulating he does not belong in such a group. He disagrees. SHOCKING: Wisconsin trans Democratic staffer Teha Delaruelle is openly calling on leftists to "Kill Your Local Republican."

"We're going to make this the moderate position for the state of Wisconsin, but I need your help."

Carnival Cruises has banned a dozen of its classiest passengers.

More than a dozen travelers were banned from sailing with Carnival Cruise Line after fighting at the port in Miami.

The altercation took place in the Customs and Border Protection debarkation area, according to the company. The June 22 fight occurred between two families and police responded, the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) said.

"The incident was deemed a mutual combatant incident," MDSO told USA TODAY in an email. Police documented the fight, but the parties declined to press charges.

"We are appreciative of law enforcement's swift response and handling of the matter," Carnival said in an emailed statement. "We do not tolerate such behavior, and 16 people have been placed on our Do Not Sail List."

A video posted on Instagram shows a group of people shoving and throwing punches at one another in the terminal, with at least two people knocked to the ground and luggage strewn around the space. Police and the cruise line did not identify the people involved or the ship they were sailing on.

Chris Rufo: In the Name of "Racial Equity," LA Stopped Charging Fares to Get Into Their Subway System.
Now It's a Filthy, Crime-Ridden, Feces-Filled Hellscape Where Lunatics Are Free to Rape Innocent Women.

Los Angeles refuses to release videos showing the attacks made by criminals on citizens in their transit system. Chris Rufo got one video leaked to him, showing a man dragging a woman off the subway car to rape her.

Every day, thousands of Los Angelenos take a deep breath, step out of their houses, and plunge themselves into a transit experience straight out of Mad Max. The city's buses have become rolling homeless shelters, replete with drugs and feces. Its trains are home to murder and mayhem. As Daquan, a daily rider who works near the North Hollywood station told us, "You could kill somebody down there and just get away with it."

The transformation has been swift and stark. Between 2020 and 2025, crime in the system more than doubled. What drove the change? L.A. Metro's dedication to creating an equitable transit system, where all Angelenos--drug-addicted, homicidal maniacs included--can effectively ride free, without consequences.

In other words, Angelenos have been condemned to die underground, all in the name of racial justice.

Activists and their allies in city government have spent years laser-focused on driving cops from the L.A. Metro's buses and trains. Their argument: making people pay to use the trains is racist.

Helming this effort was the Labor Community Strategy Center, its offshoot the Bus Riders Union, and a wider coalition of activists. The center believed that, at root, Metro's fare-enforcement policies were designed to create a "sterile lily white rail experience," as its black indigenous and "[q]ueer" co-director, Channing Martinez, put it. Martinez hoped to pressure Metro, a "South African Apartheid pass system," to institute free fares, abolish the transit court system, and nullify the L.A. Sheriff's long-held ability to enforce fares aboard the trains.

In November 2016, the Labor Community Strategy Center filed a civil rights complaint claiming that L.A. Metro was "systematically targeting Black riders." Black riders, they alleged, made up less than 20 percent of riders but received at least half of all citations. As a remedy, the center proposed (emphasis removed) that Metro remove all police and fare-collection staff, institute "[p]olicies of reparation" for black riders, and put an "immediate end to all fare collection."

I have an alternate theory, which just happens to be consistent with FBI crime statistics broken down by race.

Less than a month later, L.A. Metro's Board of Advisors unanimously demanded that Metro create a plan that would "completely decriminalize fare evasion amongst youth transit users" and ensure that youth fare evaders not be "required to interact with law enforcement." Board members specifically singled out "[y]outh of color" who, they said, were "disproportionately cited for fare evasion." Founding Metro board member Mark Ridley-Thomas, one of the members who proposed the idea, said the motion would address the "long-standing problem of criminalizing this segment of the population."

Free fares inevitably mean one thing: crime. The system is a hellscape drenched in human feces, where riders are subject to verbal or physical threats, open needles, and screaming homeless people. One million people must contend with the system every day--including some who have been brutalized on buses, trains, and platforms.

Take, for example, Mirna Soza Arauz, a 67-year-old grandmother who was fatally stabbed in the throat by a deranged homeless man named Elliot Nowden. Soza was on her way home from an overnight shift at a local burger restaurant when Nowden attacked her from behind. She managed to exit the train at the Universal City Station with blood gushing from her neck. Nowden stole Soza's bag and ran.

It wasn't Nowden's first Metro offense. He was banned from riding Metro trains in 2019 after stabbing a college student in the chest on the Expo Line--a ban evidently not enforced. In February 2024, he was arrested for an assault at the same Red Line station where he would stab Soza two months later.

If you're not enforcing fares -- if you're just letting the homeless enter the trains at will -- how could you ever force a specific ban on a person? That requires cops at the turnstiles looking at people as they enter.

Months ago, we submitted a records request with L.A. Metro demanding surveillance footage of Soza's murder. Metro delayed the request for weeks before ultimately determining that releasing the footage was not in the "public interest." Soza's family disagrees. Her three children signed a consent letter allowing Metro to release the video of their mother's stabbing--which would allow the public to see what Metro tries to hide. L.A. Metro has still not provided the video, against the Soza family's wishes.
