Dissolving Failed Cities: Ohio Needs to Revoke Cincinnati’s Charter and Break Up the Crime-Ridden City

Cincinnati is a failed city that is no longer capable of home rule – e.g. self-governance. The state of Ohio has an obligation to revoke its charter, disincorporate it, and permanently dissolve the Queen City as it now exists. It can be done, if the Ohio legislature has the will and if the people of Ohio are repulsed enough by what Cincinnati has become.

The images coming out of Cincinnati following the brutal mob beating of the woman identified simply as “Holly” are awful. Sadly, in this era of failed cities full of feral criminals, these pictures are no longer shocking. But what is shocking is the despicable way that Cincinnati’s leadership rallied around the attackers and sought to vilify Holly as being an instigator who deserved her near fatal beating. In a time when Democrats have widely embraced “defund the police,” and with “Soros prosecutors” being elected on the promise of not incarcerating hardened criminals, perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised that Cincinnati’s leadership is not hiding their support for hardened criminals, including Holly’s attackers.

Infamously, Cincinnati’s woke Police Chief Terri Theetge was the first to race to the defense of Holly’s assailants, stating that, “Social media, the posts that we’ve seen, does not depict the entire incident. That is one version of what occurred. At times social media, and mainstream media, and their commentaries, are misrepresentation of the circumstances surrounding any given event.” The police chief didn’t have a word of sympathy for Holly being beaten while unconscious, as Ms. Theetge angrily lashed out at those on social media who condemned Holly’s beating. The picture below is “one version of what occurred.”

This Daily Wire piece (“‘It’s Pretty Disgusting’: Cincinnati Police Union Head Bashes ‘Victim Shaming’ After Mob Attack” recaps some of the most atrocious statements and actions of other Cincinnati leaders, as they too rallied around Holly’s attackers, and sought to blame Holly herself for having her head kicked while she lay there unconscious. It’s important to remember that actual video shows Holly doing nothing provocative at all, she was simply trying to stop an escalating brawl.

• City Council President Pro Tem Victoria Parks wrote on Facebook that Holly “begged for that beat down!”

• Vice Mayor Jan Michele Kinsey condemned Holly for provoking her own beat down, “We condemn the violent actions of the instigator(s) of the fight as well as the violent actions of those who responded to the provocation.”

The head of Cincinnati’s police union expressed his utter disgust at how the city has become a crime-ridden city with a governing class that will not fight crime.

Progressive judges in the city have allowed criminals to walk free on small bonds in recent years, according to [Fraternal Order of Police President Ken] Kober. One of the men arrested in connection with the Cincinnati mob attack had been out of custody for just weeks after posting $400 for bond in a case in which he was arrested on felony weapons and stolen property charges.

Per this same article, the city’s police department is understaffed by several hundred officers, which is logical in its own disturbing way. A city whose leadership is pro-crime and vilifies crime victims does not need a properly staffed police force.

Ken Kober told Scott Jennings that with judges refusing to keep Cincinnati criminals off the streets, “If the Mayor, the City Manager, and the Chief, if they can't figure it out or they won't figure it out, then they do need to be replaced, absolutely."

Williams justified her decision by claiming environmental concerns, citing potential damage to "sensitive wetlands" and threats to "protected plants and animals." 

Can you hear my eyes rolling? Let's be crystal clear about what's really happening here: This judge prioritized hypothetical environmental damage over actual border security and the safety of American citizens.

The battle between Texas and Democrat states over gerrymandering seems likely to touch on the biggest driver of Democrat gerrymandering which fundamentally altered the political balance of power in state after state. Louisiana v. Callais is likely headed for a big Supreme Court decision that will fundamentally change how the Voting Rights Act enforces minority districts.

There’s nothing to celebrate about the 60th anniversary of the VRA, a civil rights era relic which long ago stopped fighting segregation and instead enforced partisan gerrymandering with no end in sight. When the Supreme Court began allowing VRA ‘monitoring’ of elections in some states to sunset, Democrats cried that segregation and slavery were about to come back.But for all the talk of democracy and racism, Louisiana v. Callais shows what keeping the zombie VRA alive is really about. The case is about whether federal courts can force Louisiana to create two Democrat congressional seats under the guise of creating two black seats. It’s a common form of gerrymandering that uses race as a trojan horse for mandating Dem seats.

When heavily gerrymandered Democrat states like California, New York and Illinois eliminate Republican seats, that’s not seen as a Voting Rights Act violation even though much as Democrat seats are disproportionately minority, Republican seats are disproportionately white.

Democrats are not fighting to keep the VRA alive because they care about black people, but because they care about maintaining the racially gerrymandered seats produced by VRA abuses.

Moving on to the international scene, this item caught my eye this morning:

The Trump administration on Thursday offered a $50 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro. “Maduro uses foreign terrorist organizations like [Tren de Aragua], Sinaloa and Cartel of the Suns to bring deadly drugs and violence into our country,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a video posted on X. The Drug Enforcement Administration has thus far seized 30 tons of cocaine linked to Maduro and his associates, Bondi said, and “nearly seven tons linked to Maduro himself, which represents a primary source of income for the deadly cartels based in Venezuela and Mexico.”

One wonders if this is a shot across the bow against Brazil's commie dictator Lula Da Silva, who fancies himself as a Bolivarian anti-Trump. Hopefully Maduro goes the way of Manuel Noriega late of Panama and this mortal coil.

And in the Middle East, as we also discussed on the podcast, it looks as if Israel at long last is going to re-occupy Gaza in part if not completely in a final bid to free the remaining hostages and stomp out Hamas.

Israel’s political-security cabinet approved a plan early on Friday to take control of Gaza City, as the country expands its military operations despite intensifying criticism at home and abroad over the devastating almost two-year-old war. “The IDF will prepare to take control of Gaza City while providing humanitarian aid to the civilian population outside the combat zones,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said in a statement, referring to the Israeli Defence Forces.

Let's hope the Israelis have finally rejected the insanity of land for peace.

Israel Can’t Win Without Beating the Muslim Brotherhood And the same is true for America.

Certainly this is true, but at the end of the day what is the muslim Brotherhood? And what is Hamas, Hezbollah and all the rest, be they head choppers, Islamikaze suicide bombers or merely ululate and pass out candy when Jews are raped, beheaded and roasted alive in front of their parents? All of them are ISLAM.

Ugh: Gina Carano Settles With the Disney Groomer Corporation
Update: Carano Posts Brief Statement

Elon Musk backed Gina Carano's lawsuit against Disney for firing her because they didn't like her "politics" -- her "politics" being only that she did not bow to the Pedro-Pascal-fueled trans mob demanding she post her pronouns as if she were a tranny, and did not like the left's constant demands to hate thy neighbor -- and for defaming her, claiming that her post about the Nazis' early propaganda efforts to make people turn on an "internal enemy." Disney falsey claimed this "demeaned" people's "religion."

That's just a straight-up lie. She analogized the modern left to the Nazis. They didn't want to dispute that -- it's hard to dispute -- so they just created a defamation out of nothing and claimed she was fired for trafficking in antisemitic slurs.

All because they didn't want to admit the real reasons for firing her -- 1, she was known to lean Republican, and 2, because the trannies and troons demanded her head and Disney did not want to admit that the precious transgenders were behind it all, or that Disney is now simply a transgender corporation.

I had thought, wrongly, that this suit would expose Disney's corrupt behavior because Musk was funding it for political/ideological reasons. I didn't think Carano would just settle and bury the matter.

But that's what's happened.

Lucasfilm and the Walt Disney Company have reached a mutual agreement in their legal dispute with Gina Carano following her firing from "The Mandalorian."

A Lucasfilm spokesperson said in a statement provided to Variety, "The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in her pending lawsuit against the companies. Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect. With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future."

Sure.

Carano was fired from "The Mandalorian" in 2021 after sharing several controversial social media posts, including one that compared being a Republican to being Jewish during the Holocaust.

Actually Jews were never mentioned, and, not to be pedantic, but Jews weren't the only Internal Enemies the Nazis demonized.

She was also dropped as a client by UTA at the time. In 2024, Carano filed suit in California federal court alleging wrongful termination and discrimination, as well as a demand that the court should force Lucasfilm to recast her and pay at least $75,000 in punitive damages.

Disney's lawyers filed a motion in April 2024 to throw out the lawsuit, arguing that it had a First Amendment right to fire the actor, stating it has "a constitutional right not to associate its artistic expression with Carano's speech."

Carano fired back in a post on X, writing, "Disney has confirmed what has been known all along, they will fire you if you say anything they disagree with, even if they have to MISREPRESENT, MALIGN, and MISCHARACTERIZE you to do it. They are now on record letting everyone who works for them know that Disney will take any chance they get to control what you say, what you think or they will attempt to destroy your career. Glad we cleared that up. The First Amendment does not allow Disney to wantonly DISCRIMINATE, which is what they have done in my case and frankly have now admitted they did. If you ever wanted to know what today's 'Disney values' are, they just told you."

Carano hasn't discussed the settlement yet but she did obliquely reference it by tweeting "and the truth will set you free."

Um, what truth? I don't see Disney disclosing anything or admitting anything. All they did was say that you were "well-respected." They did not even retract their previous slander of apologize for it.

In cases like this, there's the matter of individual justice for the plaintiff and a farther-reaching justice that affects people beyond the named plaintiffs. And yes, of course, I want Carano to get paid off. I want justice for her.

But I sure didn't want that justice for Gina to come with absolutely nothing else.

So for all of this, all that happens is what people expected would happen before Elon Musk underwrote the lawsuit: Disney pays Gina Carano to go away and go quietly, and that's it. Everything else is covered up.

I guess it proves that when the vicious communist left cancels you thoroughly and makes it impossible for you to work or earn any money in your profession, you'll eventually break and take their meager payoff.

Everyone should continue boycotting Disney until they come clean about the evil they do.

Many people are holding Disney to account through the boycott. The movie opened a bit weak and then suffered a big 67% drop in its second weekend. It now looks like it will struggle to beat the box office of the flopbuster Blacktain Ameriblack: So Close to Pride Month starring TGS funnyman Tracey Jordan.

Their stupid Fantastic Four movie is admitted to be a flop, even by their most intense "journalist" shill advocates, and in fact is making less money that the flop that killed Fox's X-Man franchise.

The 20th Century Fox era of X-Men movies got an emotional send-off last year at the end of Deadpool & Wolverine. But fans will remember that, in 2019, the franchise was curb-stomped into oblivion by Dark Phoenix, the fourth installment of the reboot series that began with X-Men: First Class. The movie tanked commercially and with the critics, and is said to have lost the studio hundreds of millions of dollars just before Fox and its assets were sold to Disney. The X-Men will soon be introduced afresh in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the highest-grossing film franchise in history, just like the recently released The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The movie delivered a decent opening weekend haul but witnessed an unexpectedly hefty drop in its sophomore frame. To make matters worse, The Fantastic Four is underperforming in overseas markets, where it still trails Dark Phoenix.

Directed by Simon Kinberg, the longtime Fox hand who had worked on several of these films previously, Dark Phoenix grossed around $250 million worldwide on a reported budget of $200 million. It's sitting at a terrible 22% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, where the critics' consensus reads, "Dark Phoenix ends an era of the X-Men franchise by taking a second stab at adapting a classic comics arc -- with deeply disappointing results.

Both movies were remakes of a story just told a handful of years earlier. The X-Men already did the Dark Phoenix story, in a rushed way, in X-Men III Last Stand, and we've already seen the Fantastic Four square up against Galactus in the second Tim Story FF movie. (Around 2008, I think.)

The only selling point to these way-too-early remakes was that they were considered to have been botched previously and so the new versions would be more "comics accurate." (That's why they gender-swapped Silver Surfer, doncha know.)

Supposedly -- allegedly -- the Fantastic Four is supposed to be okay. Some say it's mid or meh, but that's an improvement over the most recent fare.

Some are pointing out that if a bad movie fails, that's okay, because it was a bad movie.

But if a supposedly "good" movie fails, that indicates that the public just isn't interested in what you're selling any longer, even if your "meh" movie looks like a relative success.

Update: Carano's letter plugs Star Wars. I guess they might actually give her a small role.

Terrific: Lizzo Now Weighs In on the Sydney Sweeney Jeans Ad

Yes, I agree, I cannot believe this non-story is still going after more than two weeks, either.

Lizzo does not have great jeans.

Lizzo is calling out Sydney Sweeney's controversial American Eagle jeans ad in a new song.

Can we retire the ugly, trashy phrase "calling out?"

On Wednesday, the four-time Grammy winner released two clips from a track on social media that name-dropped Sweeney and referenced the viral ad.

In one video snippet for "I'm Goin' In Till October" (below), Lizzo is clad in torn denim while hosing down a Porsche and raps, "No kizzy, he ain't got no business being with me. Fat ass pretty face with the titties. Bitch, I got good jeans like I'm Sydney." (Or perhaps that should be "genes"?).

In the second video, Lizzo opens with a clip of a cable news pundit doing a celebratory rant about the Sweeney ad, declaring, "We're over this woke agenda. We are over the Lizzos, we are over the Dylan Mulvaneys. If this were a 300-pound non-binary person they would be applauding her." Then the video cuts to Lizzo lounging in head-to-toe denim, similar to the Sweeney ad. Lizzo commented on the video, "Lizzo's got good jeans."

The messaging could be seen as a push-back on the Sweeney ad. But it could also be taken as a positive for the American Eagle campaign. The company tried to make the point in a statement on the controversy last week that the marketing effort was meant to be inclusive, and Lizzo adopting the "great jeans" tag for herself could be seen as a co-sign of it's intended message. As company put it in its statement, "We'll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Great jeans look good on everyone."

People pointed out the the Sweeney Jeans/Genes homophonic pun (Homophonic? SO CLOSE TO PRIDE MONTH?) was actually just a straight replay of of an early 80s Brooke Shields ad for Calvin Klein jeans. She also made a pun about "survival of the fittest," fittest meaning "how well these jeans cling to your buttcrack."

American Eagle continues to not back down.

CNN Whines That Trump's Energy Secretary Is Reviewing and Possibly Correcting Previous Absurd Claims About "Global Warming"

A long time ago, a commenter or coblogger -- Dave in Texas? The Warden? Empire of Jeff? -- mused:

There must be some unknown force causing our planet to become warmer.

This hypothetical unknown force would have to be large, however -- on an order of magnitude equal to our own Sun.

The Babylon Bee echoes this 20 year old joke:

(CNN) -- Energy Sec. Chris Wright said Tuesday night the Trump administration is updating the National Climate Assessments that have been previously published, which the administration recently removed from government websites.

"We're reviewing them, and we will come out with updated reports on those and with comments on those reports," Wright told CNN's Kaitlan Collins in an interview on "The Source."

Wright dismissed the past reports, saying "they weren't fair in broad-based assessments of climate change."

"When you get into departments and look at stuff that's there and you find stuff that's objectionable, you want to fix it," he said.

Energy spokesperson Andrea Woods said, "The National Climate Reports are published by NOAA, not DOE. He was not suggesting he personally would be altering past reports."

The interagency process and publication is overseen by the US Global Change Research Program, which was established by Congress.

The first Trump administration signed off on and released the Fourth US National Climate Assessment in 2018, although it attempted to bury the report's news by releasing it on Black Friday. The current administration has deleted all previous reports from government websites, fired the scientists working on the next iteration of the report, and recently issued a separate report compiled by five researchers that questioned the severity of climate change.

Altering or revising previously published assessments would be a significant escalation in the administration's attempts to wipe credible climate science off the record.

Eat dirt. We're not playing games with your remorseless communists any longer.

EPA head Lee Zeldin tried to explain the actual science to CNN's bubble-headed wine aunt Kasie Hunt but she didn't want to hear it.

He gives a clue to what's going on with revising previous "global warming" claims -- none of these dire predictions came to pass. Shall we let those false prophecies of doom stand forever, like religious writs, or should we look at the bad assumptions that caused them to miss the mark?

Lee Zeldin left a CNN host staring blankly for nearly two minutes on Monday as he took her apart regarding a recent proposal at the EPA. As the interview started, host Kasie Hunt dumped an attempted gotcha question on the EPA administrator, asking him if he accepts the "overwhelming scientific consensus" that greenhouse gas emissions drive "man-made climate change." That was in the context of a recent announcement that the Trump administration will revoke a 2009 endangerment finding that led to the implementation of stringent regulations.

Zeldin clearly came prepared, because he peppered Hunt with facts, and for once, a CNN host couldn't come up with a reason to interrupt a Republican.

HUNT: Do you accept the overwhelming scientific consensus that these greenhouse gas emissions are the biggest drivers of man-made climate change?

ZELDIN: Well, it's great to be on with you. First, it's worth pointing out that all eight or so images that you just posted on the screen have nothing to do with this week's announcement. What the 2009 endangerment finding had to do with was with regards to mobile sources, vehicles. This week's proposal to rescind the 2009 endangerment finding was with regards to mobile sources, vehicles. CNN has been using a lot of photos where they show smoke stacks of stationary sources like power plants. That's not what we proposed.

Now, going back to 2009, the science that they were reviewing included both optimistic to pessimistic scenarios. To reach the 2009 endangerment finding, they relied on the most pessimistic views of the science. The great news is that a lot of the pessimistic views of the science in 2009 that was being assumed ended up not panning out. Hey, that's great, we can rely on 2025 facts as opposed to 2009 bad assumptions.

Whenever you speak to any left-winger (as all CNN hosts are) about this topic, you have to understand that climate change is a religious deity to them. It doesn't matter how many decades we've gone without the worst-case predictions coming true. Climate change is a position of faith for these people, and that means they shift the data to meet their preconceived outcome. If new data arises showing climate change isn't the level of threat they claimed it to be, and thus policies should be changed, they brush that off as "denialism."

Hyper Woke North Virginia School System Arranged and Paid for Abortions for Students, While Keeping Parents In the Dark

Glenn Youngkin needs to step in and assert state control over the vile Fairfax County school system.

Fairfax County borders on Loudoun County. The Loudoun County school system covered up not one but two sexual assaults by a "trans" student against girls. It's now being sued for $30 million for permitting girls to be raped like crazy.

There is something evil in northern Virginia.

The Fairfax County Public Schools system in Virginia has launched an investigation into accusations that school staff arranged abortions for students without notifying their parents, according to local reports.

Mistakes were made. The policy was unclear. Let's fire the policy and keep the teachers involved in this. That's what they always say -- they refuse to fire any wrongdoers and just claim "the system," which cannot be fired and does not belong to the teachers union, is to blame.

School officials at Centreville High School in Union Hill allegedly arranged and bankrolled abortions for girls in 2021, including a 17-year-old, according to local news outlet WJLA.

"We learned yesterday of these concerning allegations from 2021," FCPS said in a statement to the outlet on Wednesday. "We are launching an immediate and comprehensive investigation as we take all concerns of student wellbeing very seriously."

Pressed on whether FCPS staff have ever arranged abortions for students, including in this case, the district said it was not aware of any instances of the sort.

"Not to [our] knowledge. We have launched an immediate investigation into these concerns as soon as we were made aware," the district told WJLA.

FCPS policy states that "every effort shall be made to encourage and support students suspecting pregnancy to discuss their concerns with their parents or guardians." However, it does not say FCPS employees should inform parents about those conversations.

Seems like the policy was pretty clear -- yes, school officials are ordered to help students get abortions and hide this from their parents.

This report makes it sound worse. It claims the school officials, including, of course, a "social worker" told students they "had to" get abortions.

According to an exclusive report from the local WC Dispatch, the allegations from two former Centreville High School students revealed that the same counselor at the school spirited away the girls to the Fairfax Healthcare Center. They allege that the school principal knew and arranged for tax money to pay for killing the babies without notifying parents.

The girls were told "they had no choice" but to have the abortions.

The 17-year-old girl who was five months pregnant was so frightened at the coercion that she ran away from the clinic and told a teacher. That teacher was subsequently ordered to keep quiet.

The Dispatch reported how this apparent frightening and coercive abortion "pipeline" worked at Centreville High School.

"A handwritten statement from [a student who went through with the abortion]...lays out how [social worker Carolina] Díaz scheduled the appointment, paid the clinic's fees, and swore her to secrecy," according to the Dispatch. It was all illegal, because "The girl, an 11th-grade ESOL student, says the abortion took place in November 2021--while she was still seventeen--making the concealment a straight-line violation of state law."

The Census Bureau Admits It Overcounted Democrat States and Delivered Them Five Extra Congressional Seats.
Trump Demands They Fix Their Error, Now.

Pretty amazing that they admit they did an "oopsie" but also want to let that "oopsie" stand until the next census in 2030.

Actually, until 2032, because the 2030 census's numbers won't be used for reapportionment of congressional seats until the following election in 2032.

Trump also wants illegal aliens excluded from the count, which is a heavier lift.

"I have instructed our Department of Commerce to immediately begin work on a new and highly accurate CENSUS based on modern day facts and figures and, importantly, using the results and information gained from the Presidential Election of 2024," Trump announced in a post on Truth Social. "People who are in our Country illegally WILL NOT BE COUNTED IN THE CENSUS. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

The 2020 Census, overseen by the Biden administration and its Deep State allies, was an unmitigated disaster -- and the fallout is still being felt. Even the Census Bureau itself -- hardly a bastion of conservative thought -- admitted that its 2020 Census was incorrect in at least 14 states.

According to the Bureau's own Post-Enumeration Survey (PES), eight states were overcounted while six were undercounted. But here's where it gets truly absurd: The Census Bureau claims it can't identify which groups were miscounted or where the errors occurred, citing "sample sizes within most states do not support such estimates." Translation? They know it was wrong, but they can't -- or won't -- say how or where.

The Census Bureau should not even be using "statistical sampling" to guess at the population of states. The Constitution calls for, and I quote, "an actual Enumeration" in the census -- an actual physical counting. It does not permit "statistical sampling," which, whoopsie!, always gets things wrong in favor of the Democrat Party.

This isn't just bureaucratic bungling; it's a dereliction of duty. And it's exactly why President Trump is right to call for a new, citizen-focused census. If the federal government can't even tell us who they miscounted or where, how can anyone trust the results?

These weren't random clerical errors, either. They were systemic failures that just so happened to benefit Democrats. Florida was robbed of not one, but two congressional seats. Texas lost out on another. Meanwhile, blue states like Minnesota and Rhode Island held onto seats they should have lost -- and Colorado was gifted a seat it was never entitled to. The fix was in.

Some cynics thought that Robert Mueller was a mentally-failing man who had nominally been put in charge of the "Mueller investigation" to give it (undeserved) credence and authority, while the actual leader of the investigation was the extremely partisan corrupt Democrat activist Andrew Weissman, lately of MSNBC.

And it just so happens that a handful of years later and Mueller's mind has slipped enough that he has to live in a memory care facility.

Robert Mueller, the former FBI director and special counsel, is reportedly living in a memory care facility, raising questions about his ability to respond to a new House subpoena. The report comes as Mueller is being called to testify about the FBI's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case.

Real Clear Politics reported Monday that Robert Mueller has been living in a memory care facility "for the past few years," citing unnamed sources.

Despite the report, the House Oversight Committee issued a subpoena requiring Mueller to appear for a deposition on September 2 regarding the FBI's decades-old Epstein investigation.

The Committee declined to confirm or deny Mueller's reported condition, telling the Daily Caller it would engage in "good faith negotiations with all parties."

Diving Deeper:

Robert Mueller is allegedly residing in a memory care facility, according to a report published Monday by Real Clear Politics. The former FBI director and special counsel, who led the high-profile investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, has reportedly been in the facility "for the past few years," sources told investigative journalist Paul Sperry.

The report surfaced as the House Oversight Committee announced it had issued Mueller a subpoena to testify about the FBI's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case. Chairman James Comer is seeking answers about a long-dormant federal investigation into Epstein that occurred during the George W. Bush administration.

While the Oversight Committee confirmed the subpoena was issued, it declined to comment on Mueller's alleged condition. "The subpoenas issued are legally binding and duly authorized," a spokesperson told the Daily Caller. "As always, the Committee will engage in good faith negotiations with all parties."

The report from Real Clear Politics has raised concerns about Mueller's cognitive capacity and ability to testify. If confirmed, it would mark a dramatic turn for the once-revered lawman who served as FBI director under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama and later as special counsel in one of the most politically charged investigations in recent memory.

Mueller's 2019 report famously concluded that investigators did not find sufficient evidence that the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with Russia to influence the 2016 election -- a finding that sharply contradicted years of media speculation and Democrat accusations.

It remains unclear how the Oversight Committee will proceed if Mueller is unable to participate in the deposition. No official statement has been released by Mueller or his representatives regarding the report or the subpoena.

You might think, "But the Mueller report exonerated Trump, why claim that the partisan Lizard Person Andrew Weissman was the true author?"

The report only exonerated Trump of Russian collusion, which it had to do, because there was literally zero evidence to say otherwise. Everything in Hillary Clinton's "dossier" was just the hallucination of an old, drunk conspiracy theorist.

But Weissman's report nevertheless insisted -- unethically -- that Trump "may have" committed obstruction of justice by simply refusing to answer some questions or even just by having his attorney make the argument that he didn't have to disclose some papers. They criminalized just having a counselor during a potentially-criminal investigation.

Trump did not obstruct justice just because he spoke to his lawyers before rushing to comply with baseless demands.

And he didn't obstruct justice because that charge requires materiality. If you are not forthcoming about a question that turns out to not be a material fact in any crime, you're not guilty of obstruction of justice. I thought we all learned this when Bill Clinton claimed his many lies under oath were "not material" and thus not perjury (or obstruction of justice).

And it's completely unethical to claim that the man you've been investigating, and have found no evidence establishing he committed any crimes, "may have" obstructed justice. You can't prove it, you can't charge it, but you have to give the left a bone so you stoke up suspicions about what Trump "may have" done, but which you can't prove or even charge.

It was this claim of what Trump "may have" been guilty of that permitted Andrew Weissman's many, many media allies, some of whom he would soon be soon be joining on MSNBC, to claim that the Mueller report didn't really exonerate Trump, because he "may have" been guilty of unspecified crimes asserted WITHOUT EVIDENCE. Weissman turned the left's complete loss into an contested matter so that Rachel Maddow would not feel too bad about herself.

So yeah, I think Weissman was the real writer of the report and Mueller was just a steeply mentally-declining front. Because supposedly he's "so respected."

The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

India buys lots of Russian oil, and Russia uses that income to fund its war in Ukraine. They now buy about 1,750,000 barrels/day (up sharply since the Ukraine war began), and that is a lot of income for Russia, even assuming a discount and falling oil prices. Supposedly they resell some of it and profit from that discount.

It is clear that President Trump is growing frustrated with the slow pace of the negotiations over the Ukraine war, and pressing Russian allies with concrete financial penalties will, I guess, further isolate Russia.

Trump Raises India Tariffs to 50 Percent Over Russian Oil Imports

Trump, writing in an Aug. 6 executive order, said India’s government is “currently directly or indirectly importing Russian Federation oil.”

“Accordingly, and as consistent with applicable law, articles of India imported into the customs territory of the United States shall be subject to an additional ad valorem rate of duty of 25 percent,” the executive order states.

Last week, the president announced a 25 percent tariff against India, one of the largest U.S. trading partners. Additionally, India would face another penalty over its purchases of Russian energy and military equipment.

Of course China buys even more Russian oil, and even turkey buys a large amount. So why is President Trump going after India, and not Turkey. Obviously he has already significantly adjusted tariffs on Chinese products. Or even the EU, which imports refined products from India, in a transparent attempt to evade sanctions on Russia.

Yeah...that sounds nutty, but such is the hypocrisy of Europe.

How much Russian oil does India buy?

After the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, India became the biggest buyer of Russian crude due to the diversion of traditional supplies to Europe, which officials in New Delhi said was a “necessity compelled by global market situation”.

In that first year, India imported as much as two million barrels a day of Russian oil, accounting for roughly 2 per cent of global supply. China and Turkey were the other major buyers.

In 2023, at the same time as India’s import of Russian crude oil more than doubled year-on-year, its export of refined crude to the EU grew to a record level. [bolding mine]

So the EU is going balls-to-the-wall in its support of Ukraine against Russia, and would dearly love American boots on the ground. At the same time they are buying Russian crude that is partially refined in India, and which pumps much-needed foreign currency into the Russian economy.

Increasing the tariffs on India makes sense, but it is clearly only part of the picture, and risks driving India away from America and into the waiting arms of China.

India has already said that they would continue to buy Russian oil, but there are real economic repercussions, which suggests that India will ask for more of a discount from Russia. Putin's intransigence with respect to the Trump-driven negotiations are driving these economic blows, and while Russia's economy was doing okay, recently it has shown significant slowing. Can Putin weather this storm, or will he be forced to be more accommodating at the ceasefire talks?

Who knows? But the negotiations are unlike most others, because Russia is a nuclear power, and Putin has already threatened, through his subordinates, to use tactical nuclear weapons.

That's all the more reason to keep our troops out, and to allow Europe to take the lead in supplying Ukraine.

Or...a pox on all of their houses!

The Morning Report — 8/7/25

Good morning kids. There was a mass shooting at Ft. Stewart yesterday and prayers for the victims and loved ones. No word on the motive, so I assume the propaganda complex is working overtime to circle the wagons and protect whatever Leftist Democrat mythological grievance group might be responsible or else lay the blame on MAGA. On that note,

So, evidently President Trump and team are mulling this over:

In a post on Truth Social, President Donald J. Trump said he will move to federalize the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., unless the city government, led by Mayor Muriel Bowser (D), reins in violent crime.. . Trump and Congress could move to revoke home rule for the capital and re-exert federal control entirely over the city.

The odds of this actually happening are well into the none end of the Slim to None scale for a number of reasons, all of them political, from the practical to the petty (hatred of President Trump).

WIth that as the set up, I would argue that the problems of Washington D.C. as a city regardless of the fact that it is the nation's capital, and the misery that local residents must endure (politicians notwithstanding [and they live in places like Alexandria and Silver Spring anyway]) pose less of a threat to us as a nation than California:

Case in point:

A nationally known California pastor is calling on parents of underage school children to pack up and leave the state if Assembly Bill 495 passes and is signed into law. The bill makes all underage California school children the target of traffickers and kidnappers—by design.  "This is the end of [parental rights]," Calvary Chapel Chino Hills Pastor Jack Hibbs told parishioners last week. "If this bill passes, I'm going to ask you [parents] to leave the state of California. You're going to have to pack up and you're gonna have to get out. You gotta get out. You gotta run with your kids. You gotta go." With this bill, California Democrats are going all-in on the destroy-the-village-to-save-it rationale for "saving" children illegally in the country, while endangering every other child as well. Indeed, all children legally or illegally in this country could be kidnapped or trafficked under this bill. We don't understand why it's acceptable to allow children illegally in the U.S. to be trafficked, but these Democrats are evil. They don't care about kids or their parents.  A visibly angry Hibbs warned parents attending Calvary Chapel Chino Hills recently that the bill "100% strips parents of their parental rights." 

. . . Here's how we got here. Last spring, the California Assembly Democrats decided to cleverly switch the language of the California Family Code to somehow "protect" children illegally in the country from feared ICE raids by allowing shirttail relatives or, for that matter, perfect strangers to take them out of school or daycare. This was an apparent attempt to allow NGOs, non-profits, or other groups —you know, the same bunch who lost those more than 300,000 children who were brought over the borders by Joe Biden's cartel buddies and disappeared— to take the kids again without parental permission or notification. The bill also gives these strangers the ability to provide children with medical and dental care. Think abortions, sex change operations, STD checks, mental exams, and female circumcisions.

Now consider this item:

The Babylon Bee and Rumble are suing California over two laws that censor political satire during election season, including some images like memes that mock political candidates. A hearing in a Sacramento federal court was held Tuesday to determine whether the laws will be permanently blocked after a judge issued a temporary injunction. The final decision is expected in the coming weeks.

Imagine losing your children if you are regular viewers/readers of the aforementioned and of course this website and other websites deemed dangerous purveyors of dangerous content, etc. etc. etc. And whatever his chances are, Gavin Newsom seems to be, as of now, the leading contender to get the Democrat nomination for 2028. Of course any spoof or even criticism of him in any media might bring a giant hammer (and sickle) down on your head, and kiss your kids goodbye?

Orwellian? For sure. Hyperbole? Look back on all we've been through the past 10 years or so, if if not longer before you dismiss it.

It's long been seen that what happens in California sooner or later happens in the rest of the nation. And it seems that what happens in the UK sooner or later winds up over here:

Maybe California's statehood needs to be revoked and the region returned to territorial status, governed by a Trump-appointed territorial governor.

The regime believes that its programming is entitled to first row prioritization and that if people don’t choose to watch it, that’s because YouTube isn’t trying hard enough to make them.

The male "accused of hitting the victim named Holly" during the recent Cincinnati mob attack has been arrested, WLWT-TV reported.

Patrick Rosemond, 38, was arrested Monday in Fulton County, Georgia, and has been charged with felonious assault and aggravated riot, Cincinnati police told WLWT.

'It's been very, very hard, and I'm still recovering. I still have very bad brain trauma.'

This Gentle Giant was just turning his life around. He was thinking about enrolling in CUNY and starting a "rap" career.

A 5th arrest has been made in regards to the vicious attack on July 27 in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. The coward was found in Fulton County, Georgia, Patrick Rosemond, 38. He has 3 felonies for drugs, weapons and a total of 41 cases listed on the Ohio Hamilton Clerk of Courts website. I'm sure he has a rap sheet in other states as well. His taxpayer funded court appointed attorney made the usual poor Patrick has issues excuse.

Law-abiding citizens have their own "issues," too. Can we act on them?

Former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan says he's officially switched parties, leaving the GOP to join the Democrats. Duncan says the party's direction pushed him to make the change -- after years of criticizing Trump and cozying up to Democrats.

Key Details:

Duncan claimed there was "no line in the sand" when he flipped -- just a slow drift toward liberal policies and public posturing as a "reasonable" Republican.

He blasted the GOP's approach to health care, gun rights, and immigration -- all while echoing Democrat talking points and praising Kamala Harris.

Duncan was booted from the Georgia Republican Party after endorsing Harris and speaking at the DNC; now he says becoming a Democrat is about "loving his neighbor."

Meahwhile, a black female North Carolina state representative changed her vote and joined with the GOP to overrule the governor's veto on a bill requiring sheriffs to contact ICE when they detained an illegal alien.

Her fellow Democrats -- by which I mean "journalists" -- lined up to attack her.

Rep. Carla Cunningham, D-Mecklenburg, delivered a controversial speech on the North Carolina House floor during a veto override session Tuesday which raised eyebrows among some of her Democratic colleagues.

North Carolina House Republicans needed one Democrat to help them override Gov. Josh Stein's veto of House Bill 318 -- a bill that would require sheriffs to call immigration officers before releasing someone who is undocumented.

Cunningham, a Democrat, originally voted for the bill, before she decided to vote with Republicans to override Stein's veto.

She gave a speech expressing why she changed her mind.

"As a social scientist reports, all cultures are not equal," Cunningham said. "Some immigrants come and believe they can function in isolation, refusing to adapt."

She added, "No country is going to allow people to come in and not acknowledge its constitution, legal systems and laws."

Several Democratic lawmakers spoke out against Cunningham's remarks, including Charlotte State Senator Caleb Theodros.

"This idea that, the comment was that there are some cultures beneath others, I'm paraphrasing here, I think is antithetical to everything we teach our kids," he said.

Theodros did not say Cunningham should be replaced in her district, but he did say representatives need to speak out against, what he calls, "bad policy."

"To see that come from Democrats is disheartening," he said. "Roughly 600,000 people are set to lose their healthcare in the next few years unless we do anything. That has nothing to do with the number of immigrants or a certain culture that's superior to another."

Cunningham also voted with Republicans to override the veto on a bill that removes the state's goal to cut carbon emissions.

The burn bags discovered in the FBI's secret vault also contained Epstein files material.

During an interview on "The Benny Johnson Show," Rep. Luna dropped a bombshell: "I'm asking [the FBI] directly who authorized this information to be placed in burn bags and what information they have about the former deputy director of the FBI destroying evidence pertaining to Jeffrey Epstein, which we know right now the FBI is actively investigating."

"I'm confirming that there's an open investigation, and that the leads on your show resulted in them finding burn bags pertaining to Russiagate and potentially Epstein, yes," Luna replied.
