Enforce the Law? Go to Jail!

This absolutely stinks. You may remember reading here about the border patrol agents that were put on trial for, literally, chasing after a felonious drug dealer who had crossed the US-Mexico border illegally. Well, they've been sentenced -- 11 and 12 years in prison for DARING to attempt to enforce the border. What a pile of you-know-what. Every border patrol agent in the country should get up tomorrow and walk off the job.

But they won't. Know why? Because since they will go to jail for actually enforcing the law, they cannot enforce the law. So what will they do? Anything else they want to -- and we will still pay them. Wanted: Border Patrol agents to sit around and do nothing. Government job, benefits, and pay.

Tell me again how I'm supposed to have hope for this country. If we had a leader with any guts, he'd stand up and pardon these two, then fire the people in the border patrol (they work for him) that started this crap. There is no justice in America, and there ARE NO BORDERS. America is indeed gone.

Guns 'n Butter?

Have you seen this site? It's called Guns 'n' Butter. Their motto?

Gunsnbutter.com: More fun than poking a hippie with a stick. We might be the 732nd most popular fake news site on the Internet, but at least you read us.

It's a conservative satirical news site. If you're at least semi-conservative and need a laugh, head on over there and read about the banned fluffy kitten video and Tim McCarver's firing from Fox Sports. Funny stuff.

ACLU claims it's conservative?

Crossposted from: Stop The ACLU

This week the ACLU held its 2006 membership conference. Over 1,500 moonbats from across the U.S. gathered to listen to the ACLU alarmist exaggerations and lies. The event was televised on CSPAN and there were some interesting moments such as when Justice Scalia slam dunked Nadine Strossen in a debate about the bill of rights.

One of the more humorous highlights of the ACLU's conference this week was when Bush signed the Military Tribunal Bill into law. The ACLU came up with one of its most clever and cute full page ads to date in which they claimed to be "the most conservative organization in America."

Mecklenburg County Commissioners ask permission to ban Freedom of Association

Oh, you didn't read that little headline in the news? It's completely true and 100% accurate. The Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to ask the North Carolina Legislature if they could have permission to overturn the U.S. Constitution and ban the freedom of association in Mecklenburg. Instead, the ruling council wants permission to decide who is allowed to associate with whom.

Since the council is completely unaware of the laws of the land, here's Article I, Section 12 of the NC Constitution:

The people have a right to assemble together to consult for their common good

And in case anyone cares any more, here's a part of the US Constitution:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble,

So no, Mecklenburg County, you absolutely cannot have permission to ban people from freely associating with one another, ESPECIALLY on private property. If you want that power, head to Cuba or North Korea.

People of Mecklenburg, realize that the vote was unanimous. In other words, there is not ONE County Commissioner who believes that you should have the freedom to associate with those whom you want to. We had freedom once. Clearly we have it no longer.

Marine Joke

I'm not sure if this one is true or not, but it should be. It's got to be my all-time favorite come back line:

It is a portion Of National Public Radio (NPR) interview between a female broadcaster and US Marine Corps General Reinwald who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military installation.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Reinwald, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base?

GENERAL REINWALD: We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery, and shooting.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?

GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle range.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?

GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: But you're equipping them to become violent killers.

GENERAL REINWALD: Well, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you?

The radio went silent and the interview ended.

Sprint/Nextel Wireless Service

I strongly suggest that if you are looking for a new wireless service provider, you avoid Sprint/Nextel. Why? Well, I'll tell you the experience I have had with them over the past few weeks and you can decide for yourself if you'd like to deal with this organization.

Senator Mike DeWine

This week Wictory Wednesday presents Senator Mike DeWine from Ohio for re-election to the US Senate. He is currently trailing Democrat challenger Sherrod Brown.

He supports the tax cuts and understands the best way to grow an economy is to bring business out from under the stifling arm of government taxation and regulation. Ultimately ever tax or regulation is paid for by the consumer.

Senator DeWine understands that affordable health care doesn't mean that the government pays for and runs the system. Even Europe is moving away from such economically naïve models. A strong health care system requires that the consumer be in control, not some bureaucrat hundreds or thousands of miles away.

National security has never been more important. While terrorists attacks continue overseas, nothing has been successful in the United States since 9/11 and the Anthrax attacks. Senator DeWine understands that it requires strong intelligence agencies, a military with the necessary tools, and law enforcement who treats the problem as warfare against the citizens of this country, not as some petty criminal gang like the Crips.

Please consider supporting Senator DeWine's re-election.

This has been a production of the Wictory Wednesday blogburst. If you would like to join Wictory Wednesday, please see this post or contact John Bambenek at jcb (dot) blog [at] gmail {dot} com. The following sites are members of the Wictory Wednesday team:

Republicans in the NC Senate?

Once again, Republicans in North Carolina are working hard to get control of the North Carolina Senate. The Democrats have controlled the Senate with an iron fist for over 100 years. The Socialist Democrat Charlotte Observer claims that the Republicans "face long odds," primarily because of spending. That's not quite true. The real opposition is the Democrats and gerrymandering.

The Democrats have ensured they will retain control of the Senate, barring something short of a pitchfork uprising. The Democrats who drew the district lines selected their constituents to ensure they would retain power. They are honestly not interested in what the people want -- they do not want, nor do they have any desire to represent people -- they want power, plain and simple.

Once again, I will point out recent election results as concrete proof: In 2004, the most recent election for the Senate, 3,118,224 people voted for a Senator. 48.9% voted for Democrats. 49.6% voted for Republicans (46,960 voted Libertarian or other). If it were truly a Democracy, there would be 25 Senators from each party (or 24 D, 25 R and 1 L). However, there are THIRTY Democrat and only 20 Republican.

And if you needed further evidence of the massive disconnect between the North Carolina Senate (D) and the people, the Republicans have a platform that is strongly opposed by the Democrats -- and between 60 and 90 percent of the people of North Carolina support the various Republican points:

Republicans want to allow votes on proposed constitutional amendments banning same-sex marriage, toughen eminent domain rules and limit government spending. Poll after poll shows the vast majority of people support those positions and Democrats are strongly opposed to them.

No, in North Carolina there is clearly not government by the people or for the people. It is government by the Democrats for government. Find a way to get Republicans elected (because it's illegal to vote for anyone but Republicans or Democrats in this state), and that will change.

Robert Jensen and Men Being Men

Robert Jensen, writing in the San Francisco Chronicle, says that

Guys should evolve beyond masculinity

The article is a bit long, but the author is also very wrong and way off base in many cases. He starts out with
It's hard to be a man; hard to live up to the demands that come with the dominant conception of masculinity, of the tough guy.

We Starved, He Called It Paradise

North Korea has been in the news quite a bit lately. They may be trying to start WWIII, or they may just be doing as they usually do, rattling sabers, hoping for a little attention from the world, and, of course, some cash or new trading partners. Of course, China and Russia are on their side, not allowing the U.N. to take any actual actions against them, other than calling Il Jong a "meanie."

But have you ever wondered what it was really like there? Do you have a clue what sort of life the average person lives over there in North Korea? Do you want to know the logical conclusion of the state running all production (as the Democrats seem to honestly desire here in the U.S.)?

A person who has escaped the "paradise" of socialist utopia (the same one Democrats envision in America) has written a book about it. Head on over and read a little about how wonderful socialism really is -- and this is the result that socialism has ever single time it's tried.

National Unions support Jim Black

Jim Black, in case you didn't know, is the current Democrat Speaker of the House in North Carolina. He is being investigated by various federal offices and departments for corruption and fraud. Close friends of his have been arrested and found guilty of fraud. He has been found guilty of violating various campaign laws (although since the Board of Elections and the Attorney General are Democrats, he faces no punishment).

He has a "legal defense fund." He is accepting contributions from "political groups," but not lobbyists (especially those lobbyists that have been convicted of fraud). Now he is accepting money from the Teamsters Union for his legal defense. Of course, he's already gotten $30,000 from the taxpayers of North Carolina, so an additional $5,000 from the Teamsters doesn't seem like much, does it?

While allies of Jim Black claim they're not tainted by his numerous power scandals, you are known by the company you keep. Jim Black is now in the pockets of the national Teamsters Unions. Also, as Jeff Taylor notes, if you want to buy some influence in Raleigh and not have anyone know about it, just send money to Jim Black's legal defense fund. It's completely secret, and you can literally donate whatever amount of money you like. Keep that in mind as you vote in North Carolina this year. Democrats claim they will retain the embattled Jim Black as speaker, and he may owe his job to Unions.

Illegal Aliens and Gang Crime

by IndependentConservative

In case you didn’t know, Nashville is not just the Grand Old Opry. Walking the streets of Nashville you’d think you were in any other city. And just like any other, Nashville is now trying to reconcile the issue of illegal aliens and the gangs many of them are members of.

This was a Sunday front page (below the fold) story in Nashville’s paper The Tennessean. It’s a Liberal rag, so even getting this below the fold on the front is a shock.

War on Drugs

I don't like drugs. I don't "do" drugs. I don't think anyone else should "do" drugs. However, I love freedom.

I don't like cigarettes. I don't smoke cigarettes. I don't think anyone else should smoke cigarettes. However, again, I love freedom.

I don't like government spending billions of dollars on a "war" that they simply cannot, and will not win. I don't like all the corruption that drugs create in the various government institutions that are tasked with enforcing the war on drugs.

I think drugs are wrong, but government has no place outlawing them. How is marijuana different from alcohol and tobacco? There's a few people who agree with me. You can read the latest and get more information and facts over at Stop the Drug War.org. Head on over and see what else they can tell you.

Government Begets Government

A couple examples of how and why huge, bloated, Democrat/Socialist government is a bad, bad idea.

First, you may have heard that North Carolina built an oyster shell recycling center. Now, doesn't that sound nice? However, you might be wondering why the government might build such a place. No, it's not because oyster shell have suddenly become valuable, it's because North Carolina just passed a law that REQUIRES people to recycle oyster shells. And yes, that's a real law. So, the state passes a law that requires the citizen recycle, and then, since no one else will make any money at it, they get to build the recycling center.

The next one might even be worse. Currently North Carolina taxpayers pay for the various "health and safety" inspections (which seldom have anything to do with either health or safety). Various lobbying groups are working the legislature hard to make the businesses pay for the inspections. So the state will require a business be inspected by the state, and then require them to pay whatever fee the state decides they want to charge. Folks, that's a tax increase -- and a literally unlimited tax increase. What if the state wants to charge a business $50,000 for each inspection? The business will HAVE to pay for it, and they will pass the costs on to the consumers -- the taxpayers.

Government is way, way, way too big and way out of line. They're absolutely crushing freedom all over the place, but in North Carolina they're rather sneaky about it because they KNOW that people don't like higher taxes and socialism, so they have to hide what they're doing. If the current crop of elected Democrats were honest about what they were doing, they'd be voted out in a minute.

Oh, how I yearn for freedom.

Don't Understand Spanish? You're Fired

And this time, it's in America, not in England (where you get arrested for not understanding a foreign language). This time it was Steve Lyons, from Fox Sports, who was fired for saying,

I don't understand him, and I don't want to sit too close to him now.

This was in response to manager Lou Pinella's saying that Thomas needed to get "en fuego" because he was "frio." So, if you work for Fox Sports, you either learn Spanish or you are FIRED for "racially insensitive comments."

Great job, morons. Is there a non-Mulsim country that speaks English still? I'd like to move there. And although it won't make any difference, you can be sure I'll not be watching any more coverage of Fox Sports of baseball -- and I really like baseball.

Carolina Renaissance Festival

Ah. The Carolina Renaissance Festival is here at last. And again this year, I broke down and bought the "season passes" because it's just so much fun. That's where I am today, and most weekend days from now until Nov 19th. And yes, I'll be at the Boo & Brew party, too!

Why? Because it's a lot of fun. There's almost no electricity there at all (just for coolers and credit-card machines) -- and everyone is there to enjoy themselves. The people who are working there honestly look like they WANT to be there. I think my favorite performer who I've seen year after year is Dextre Tripp.

It's a place to forget about the cares and worries of the world...at least for a little while. So come on out and enjoy some good, clean fun where no one judges you by your looks or your political views -- I'll be looking for you there.

Rusty on Smith

Rusty Sheridan, once candidate for Mayor of Charlotte before he was booted off the ticket by Those Who Don't Like Competition (Democrats), has weighed in on Senator Smith. If you've read Rusty before and know that he's a Libertarian, you might guess what his reaction is. I'd like to add a little myself.

First, in the interest of disclosure, I've got no real direct stake in the battle -- in other words, I can't legally vote for Senator Smith. Because of the horribly lax rules in North Carolina, I'm sure I COULD go cast a vote for him without any problems, but I don't live in his district.

However, I did get to listen to him in person at the Iredell County Men's Club meeting back a few months ago. For a full review, follow that link.

My general opinion of him is that he's got some good ideas and he's got some really bad ideas. So would I vote for him? Knowing he's a Republican, I'm betting that his opponent would have even WORSE ideas, and perhaps no good ideas. So where does that leave me?

It's the same problem that conservatives have had for years. We cannot vote for conservative candidates. Rusty suggested writing your own name in -- but that's not legal in North Carolina, sorry. So it's back to the old question, "Do I vote for the lesser of two evils?" The alternative is not to vote at all. It's a horrible situation, but one to which I see absolutely no solution. No one in government has ANY incentive to change any of the rules. So you will, at least for the foreseeable future, only get three choices: Evil, Really Evil, or refuse to participate and evil wins.

Oh, how I yearn for freedom.

Taxation without Representation

A guest editorial by Mark A. Palmer

What has happened to no taxation without representation? It was the essential basis of our government at one time. These words once stood for people being represented by their elected officials but not so much anymore. Too many officials have their own agendas these days. We see this by our state leaders compromising our state laws, so they do not have deal with over crowing of jails, etc.

Voices have cried out asking our elected officials; where is Democracy, Liberty and Freedoms to our City, County and State Leadership?

In Charlotte, city council members are arguing that Mayor Pat McCrory's role on the Metropolitan Transit Commission does not represent city council.

Interesting, Mayor Pat McCrory is employed by Duke Power Company and light rail runs off electricity. Sure, that would not influence Mayor Pat McCrory. With the cost of light rail, climbing constantly and public outcry ignored. Charlotte citizens wanted to honor Mayor McCrory for his leadership with light rail. It has become known as the “McCrory Line.”

Council members Anthony Foxx, Michael Barnes, Susan Burgess, and Nancy Carter have been questioning role of Mayor Pat McCrory. This should have been a question from the beginning -- and why now. Could it have to do that council members are looking for somebody blame for recent light rail mess and overruns? They should be looking at themselves as well.

Present city council members and past city council members have passed everything for light rail, and have never questioned anything until now!

The John Locke Foundation did a Town Meeting about the dangers of light rail, which a couple of city council members listened to; as two of the top knowledgeable transit people spoke about light rail. They shared in detail problems of cost, budget overruns, flaws, etc.

Council members Susan Burgess and Nancy Carter attended the John Locke Town Meeting. Interestingly, they did not question Mayor Pat McCrory then. If they represented the people instead of personal agendas, things would be different.

We hear about other issues that representatives consider more important than the needs of those that voted them into office. Our representatives disburse thousand of dollars for meetings, delegations, and development. Our representatives are allowing the rape of our heritage. It is time to count-- our voices need be heard continually to our state, town, county, and school leadership. Our elected officials need to comprehend that term "Political Correctness" which means "Poor Choice.”

City Council, County Commissioners, School Board, State Officials do not get it! They do not provide what Charlotte really needs. The State, City, County, and School officials keep citizens in this mess with their lack of leadership. They give the illusion that issues and problems are resolved but they are not.

This brings us to the million dollar question -- where is representation in taxation and what can we do? People of Charlotte can hold our elected officials responsible for their actions and votes. We can use our voices always enforce positive change and question our elected officials.

Prompt our government reagrding true democracy and freedom. One way to accomplish this goal, is to ban together and make our representatives focus on getting our City, Neighborhoods, and Municipal needs met. Our "Fore Fathers of Charlotte,” accomplished their goals by putting their lives on the line for,” The Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence.” How many of today's leaders in Charlotte would even imagine doing so?

Charlotte leaders are at their crossroads; please remind them about Democracy, Liberty, and Freedom to our City, County, and State that there should be no taxation without representation!
