Carolina Renaissance Festival

Ah. The Carolina Renaissance Festival is here at last. And again this year, I broke down and bought the "season passes" because it's just so much fun. That's where I am today, and most weekend days from now until Nov 19th. And yes, I'll be at the Boo & Brew party, too!

Why? Because it's a lot of fun. There's almost no electricity there at all (just for coolers and credit-card machines) -- and everyone is there to enjoy themselves. The people who are working there honestly look like they WANT to be there. I think my favorite performer who I've seen year after year is Dextre Tripp.

It's a place to forget about the cares and worries of the world...at least for a little while. So come on out and enjoy some good, clean fun where no one judges you by your looks or your political views -- I'll be looking for you there.

1 I checked the web site, and this festival looks just like the one we have in this area--in Crownsville, Maryland. Turkey legs, too?

A perfect festival for an ogre!

2 Nice big turkey legs, and you can be sure I always get one or two!

3 I love renaissance festivals and this looks like great fun. We have only 1 here and it's only for 1 day. I dress up in period costume not because I get a discount, but because for 1 day I can lose myself in a fun fantasy.

I saw the Tripp performance video and it looks like its spellbinding, especially the unicycle on the wire.

Enjoy!

4 BTW, I forgot to ask one question, it might be a stupid one but this northerner doesn't have a clue. Why, if there are 2 Carolinas, do they use just "Carolina" (with no north or south attd.) to this festival and the Panther's team?

5 Oh, this festival runs for weeks and weeks, every weekend. And yes, that's the best part -- you get to lose yourself for a day.

As for the two Carolinas, the use of the single, I think, is just because people are lazy. I know with the Panthers, it's to attract more fans. Charlotte is right next to the border of South Carolina, so if they call them the "Carolina" Panthers, people from South Carolina can claim them as their own, too.
