Mecklenburg County Commissioners ask permission to ban Freedom of Association

Oh, you didn't read that little headline in the news? It's completely true and 100% accurate. The Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to ask the North Carolina Legislature if they could have permission to overturn the U.S. Constitution and ban the freedom of association in Mecklenburg. Instead, the ruling council wants permission to decide who is allowed to associate with whom.

Since the council is completely unaware of the laws of the land, here's Article I, Section 12 of the NC Constitution:

The people have a right to assemble together to consult for their common good

And in case anyone cares any more, here's a part of the US Constitution:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble,

So no, Mecklenburg County, you absolutely cannot have permission to ban people from freely associating with one another, ESPECIALLY on private property. If you want that power, head to Cuba or North Korea.

People of Mecklenburg, realize that the vote was unanimous. In other words, there is not ONE County Commissioner who believes that you should have the freedom to associate with those whom you want to. We had freedom once. Clearly we have it no longer.
