In NC, Unions support Socialism

In North Carolina, the Socialist Unions who absolutely despise freedom are throwing around a lot of money to elect Democrats, at least according to the news report. However, that's not quite accurate. You see, Democrats have already gerrymandered the state to the point where it is absolutely impossible (barring a major event, like a civil war) for the Republicans to win. Everyone knows that, even the unions. So why would they be spending lots of money?

Because they're trying to buy votes. They know the Democrats will win in the state, so they are currently making a push to buy things like higher minimum wages and easier access to stupid workers.

If we had freedom, these unions wouldn't be able to lobby and give tons of cash to the state. Know where that money comes from? The state. The majority of union members in North Carolina WORK FOR THE STATE. So they're taking their money and using it to lobby the state for more government and more money. In a free republic, the government would be the absolute SMALLEST employer in the state, not the largest. Instead, we have a self-propagating system where they work for the state and take their money to bribe politicians to give them more money so they can give more money to the politicians.

Oh, how I yearn for freedom.

Bush continues to Support Illegals

Regular readers here know that we have been closely following the case where two border patrol agents have been arrested, tried, and now sentenced for TRYING TO ENFORCE THE BORDER. We have asked that Bush pardon the agents and have suggested that if he did, there would be a HUGE wave of Republican support for the election this year.

Now it can be reported that Bush has absolutely no intention to pardon those agents and he apparently strongly supports their arrest and punishment FOR TRYING TO ENFORCE THE BORDER. He says that to even consider pardoning them is "nonsensical."

Unfortunately, there's no one else to turn to in government. If Americans want a southern border, we're going to have to make and support it ourself, because the United States government has ZERO desire for any borders.

Republican Judicial Candidates

In case you're in North Carolina and needed to know which judges are Republicans (and not bleeding heart liberals), here's the list for Mecklenburg County:

You need to have these names before going into the voting booth, as they will not have "Republican" by their names (because the Democrats realized that people were voting for Republican judges too much, so they took the party affiliation off the ballot).

The Republican Judicial candidates are:

* Rusty Duke
* Ann Marie Calabria
* Eric Levinson
* Mark Martin
* Kris Bailey
* Donna Stroud
* Richard Boner
* Lisa Bell
* Martha Curran (Clerk of Mecklenburg Superior Court)

Greensboro News: Liberal is Conservative

The Greensboro Paper weighs in on the Chief Justice election. As you might expect from the vast majority of North Carolina print newspapers, they endorse the Democrat. And in doing so, they expose their strong bias. The editorial actually says

This is a moderate-conservative court, and Parker fits comfortably into its centrist core

After saying a few paragraphs earlier that governor Easley appointed this person. Now I know that Easley actually claims to be conservative, but that's only because if he admitted his actual positions on the issues, he wouldn't win again. Then again, that's the strategy of the Democrat Party in North Carolina. If they actually admit what they stand for (higher and higher taxes, less education, medicine free to everyone except those who work, etc.), they would lose every election held. So they have to lie.

This editorial is more of the same. If you want someone who will actually enforce the laws that are on the books (even though they're written by socialists), then you should vote for Judge Rusty Duke for Chief Justice.

Guard Our Borders!

Beheadings Aren't Just For Islamists Anymore

By Toni at Bear Creek Ledger

Those pro-illegal aliens should be paying attention to what's happening with the drug cartels south of the border. This is what we in the US have to look forward to if there isn't something done to control our southern borders.

Vote Judge Rusty Duke

Why Judge Duke?

Judge Rusty Duke is a conservative who as Chief Justice of our Supreme Court will uphold the Constitution of our state and protect the safety and property rights of our families.

Judge Rusty Duke has served as a trial judge for seventeen years, working with Clerks of Court, Sheriffs, and other law enforcement officers, lawyers and prosecutors.

Judge Rusty Duke opposes judicial activism that seeks to change social policy by judicial interpretation.

Judge Rusty Duke will work to keep the judiciary independent of the legislative and executive branches of government, as contemplated by the North Carolina State Constitution, and to make the courts more efficient.

Married for 33 years with three children, Judge Rusty Duke knows firsthand the stresses modern families face - and believes the traditional family is the foundation of our culture.

Learn more at www.rustyduke.com

This posting is neither paid for, supported by, nor coordinated with the Rusty Duke Campaign. It's just a semi-free citizen trying to exercise what's left of freedom of speech in North Carolina.

NC Lottery Results

The recently invisible governor of North Carolina (and I'm sure it's not because his buddy and pal, Jim Black, is being investigated by the feds and his pals are getting convicted of crimes) announced some results of the recent state monopoly on gambling.

“The real lottery winners are our schoolchildren across the state who have greater access to pre-k classes, smaller class size, safe, modern school buildings and college scholarships"

So we taxed the poor and instituted gambling so that children could get:

1. Access to pre-k classes. What does this accomplish? Absolutely zero. Studies have shown again and again that students who receive these government-sponsored pre-k classes do not show ANY increase in knowledge, education, or performance at all. Quite literally, the ONLY thing accomplished by these classes is a government-paid-for babysitting service so the parents can go back to work a year earlier and the taxpayers can foot the bill. Literally.

2. Smaller class size. Once again, there are zero studies that show ANY benefit at all from smaller class sizes. But that doesn't matter because people think that it helps and is better. IT IS NOT. It does not help any with education, performance or testing. Zero increase in actual education. Once again, the ONLY benefit this provides is more employment for teachers and more money spent on buildings to BUILD more classes. No educational benefit AT ALL.

3. Safe, modern school buildings. I'm sure there's more than a few people who might argue about the "safe" part of that one. But yet again, there is NO evidence that ANY type of building increases the learning of students. Just because they are in a freshly painted building, they do not learn more. There are NO measurable increases in education, learning, or knowledge at all based on ANY buildings used. Instead, the only result of this is more government spending to BUILD those buildings.

4. College Scholarships. So the government gives money to students so they can give money to the state to attend school. Seriously. The scholarships are for state schools -- the money paid GOES TO THE STATE. The state gave them the money. What kind of con job is this? If the state didn't give them the money, costs would be LESS because people couldn't afford it. So yes, again, ZERO increase in knowledge, education, or anything -- other than government spending.

So, now Governor Easley has finally admitted the sole and entire purpose for the education system in North Carolina -- to increase government spending. And at that, they are very, very successful. The government-run education system is HONESTLY not interested in "education" in the traditional sense -- they are interested in spending money, and absolutely NOTHING else.

Keep that in mind next time you shuttle your kids off to the "government" education center. They are there ONLY to get the government to spend more money. That's what governor Easley, Democrat, says.

Weekend Fun

This weekend you won't find the Ogre at The Renaissance Festival. Instead, he's gone fishing for the last trip of the year. But you can still go to the festival and pretend Ogre's there. Just find a big hairy green guy drinking beer and that will have to be a suitable replacement. Next weekend I'll be there at the opening cannon shot, and should be taking the camera for pictures and reviews.

NC NAACP Declares War on Whitey

Well, according to the NC NAACP, it's time to start another race war. Racist Julius Chambers said that the members of NC NAACP are not doing enough to ensure that black children get more education than white children and that he's going to work to beat down white children so black children can have more.

Viewing all people by their skin color, he said that it's unfair that all black people are stupid and cannot get jobs, so they have to live in poor areas. He said it's not right that black people choose not to live in suburbs and instead live in the inner city. He said that taxpayers should give carloads of cash to all stupid black people who are too dumb to work.

He continued to complain that "historically black" schools have stupid idiots going to school who cannot pass standardized tests, but it would compensate for their stupidity if the state of North Carolina gave them a lot of money so they wouldn't have to work (beacause they're too dumb to work, anyway). He said it's not the fault of the students or their parents, it's the fault of white people who have money.

Now don't get mad at me -- Racist Julius Chambers is the one who claimed all this, not me. I'm just reporting on what he said (and reading between the lines a little bit). I strongly disagree with him. I think people can succeed and learn regardless of the color of their skin.

Candidates forced to pay for Opposition's elections!

Yes, really. In North Carolina, if you would like to run for election to be a judge, you, too, might be forced to pay to fund your opponent's election campaign. Oh, and if you refuse to pay? The North Carolina Bar Association will revoke your license and then you will be ineligible to run for office.

This is just another perverted side effect of the so-called "public financing laws" that are nothing but an absolute crushing of freedom of speech. Folks, money DOES equal free speech, even if you don't want it to. When you FORCE someone to pay for someone else's election, you ARE crushing freedom of speech.

So far, it appears the North Carolina State Bar Association is completely in support of the law that requires lawyers to fund their opposition's election campaigns. The courts have yet to weigh in, and they don't particularly want to. Then again, it will be literally impossible to find an impartial judge to rule in the case, because those very same judges who could rule would ALREADY BE RECIPIENTS of the extortion fees.

Freedom of Speech is gone in North Carolina. Too bad we don't have a law that protects freedom of speech.

NaNoWriMo

There's still time to join up! 11 days until National Novel Writing Month begins.

National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.

Valuing enthusiasm and perseverance over painstaking craft, NaNoWriMo is a novel-writing program for everyone who has thought fleetingly about writing a novel but has been scared away by the time and effort involved.

Come on, join up if you've ever once thought about writing a novel. It's pressure-filled, but it's absolutely loads of fun! If you can write blog entries, you can write a novel. Just start it up and see where it goes. And if you don't have time, that's all the more reason to get it started NOW.

And you can even make donations and help build children's libraries in Vietnam. Oh, and my novel, as I write it, will appear here.

Republican Approval Numbers

*** Update: Big Dog weighs in, and so does William Teach.

Just before the election, Republican approval numbers are down. It's the end of the world, according to the liberal media and the national socialist Democrat party. They think that they will take control of Congress in a few weeks. In a way that would be good, but only as long as Bush sharpens his veto pencil. I love it when there's gridlock and NO laws and taxes get passed.

However, the Republicans have a great opportunity to get the country behind them. This could be a perfect "October surprise" and would push Bushs' poll numbers way up. Sure, Democrats would be mad, the media would be fuming, but those groups already hate Republicans and Bush, so there's no point in appeasing them.

Yesterday, two Border Patrol agents were sentenced to jail for having the audacity to attempt to enforce the border of America. Seriously. They went to jail because they chased down an illegal immigrant drug dealer. If Bush wanted a huge Republican victory in a few weeks, he'd make this speech this morning:

My fellow Americans. I have called this press conference today to make an announcement of great import. There has been a miscarriage of justice and I am here to correct that problem. Two good citizens of this country have been wrongly prosecuted by our justice system, and I am here to remedy that.

Jose Compean and Ignacio Ramos were working to defend our National border when an illegal alien from Mexico attacked them. When the illegal alien tried to escape prosecution by our judicial system, the agents tried to apprehend him. The agents were then, somehow, arrested and charged with crimes themselves by Assistant U.S. Attorney Debra Kanof.

According to Ms. Kanof, Border Patrol agents are not supposed to chase or apprehend illegal aliens who break U.S. law. Seeing as how the U.S. Attorney's office is under my control, Ms. Kanof, you may consider yourself fired. I will not abide by attorneys under my control that refuse to uphold the laws of this country.

In addition, Jose Compean and Ignacio Ramos are hereby pardoned completely by me. They are good agents who were attempting to enforce our borders and no one who attempts to secure the southern border of this United States will be prosecuted by the justice department on my watch. Instead, I order that these men be offered their jobs back as Border Patrol agents. And from this day forward, I want all border patrol agents to know that they will not be arrested nor stopped in any way from defending this country from a foreign invasion.

Raven agrees.

Yeah, I know it's not going to happen. I can dream, right? Again, the liberals might go nuts, but they're already nuts. I absolutely guarantee that the approval numbers for Bush and Republicans would go up overnight. And sure, Mexico might be annoyed, but I really, really don't care.

America is lost. We are way down the slope of decline from a once-great American civilization. We have surrendered. We have lost. America is no more.

Tax Collections Up: Raise Taxes!

Yes, the receipts for taxes are up. The people of North Carolina have paid $85 or $90 million MORE than the state anticipated receiving. The state literally has more money than they thought they would have (2 percent more).

So, instead of celebrating, what's the result from the Democrat-controlled North Carolina General Assembly? They plan on raising the state sales tax by a half-cent and raising income taxes next year. How much money does it take to run a state controlled by Democrats? MORE. Always MORE.
