Immigrants Join Terrorists

I guess it's time to merge the two categories of terrorism and illegal immigration. In Maryland, people openly advocating and supporting massive law-breaking are now branching out into actively supporting, advocating, and committing terrorism. But no, just listen to the press -- there's no problem with illegal immigration.

What will it take for the legislators, who are actually SUPPOSED to protect us from foreign enemies, to DO something? They're so busy doing "internal" investigations and playing tapes of hurricane briefings and other utterly useless crap that they're not even supposed to be doing to pay attention.

The problem is -- Democrats love illegals because it gives them votes. Maybe not in your town, but here in NC, illegals can show up, get a driver's license without any real id, and then they can go vote. No, it's not actually legal, but hey, they are called ILLEGAL aliens.

Republicans love the big business money and the big businesses love the cheap labor. So neither Republicans or Democrats want to do anything about the illegals entering the country and now resorting to terrorism. After all, if you're not going to get prosecuted for breaking one pile of laws, why not commit some more crimes?

In a story in the Maryland Gazette they report on an assault by a terrorist/illegal immigrant. In the case, an innocent citizen was taking pictures of some suspected illegals. The illegals complained to the police. The police's first question to the illegals SHOULD have been to check their immigration status. If you're NOT here legally, you have no grounds to complain about anyone else, period.

And in case you don't follow the other links and read about this elsewhere, there is now a taxpayer supported group that supports and aids others in breaking the law. They have now announced that they are going to resort to terrorism to stop anyone who attempts to stop them from continuing to break the law.

And yet no one in the government seems to think there's any problem. However, millions of taxpayer money is being given to a group so they can stalk and harass US citizens. I don't know about you, but I think it's time to go check the ammo supply.

Plenty of others are covering this as well:
Traction Control has a list of links to the "news" reports.
Committees of Correspondence sends an email and encourages everyone else to send one, too.
Rhymes with Right has links to everyone else who's covering this story.

Kill and Die

Joe Carter, over at The Evangelical Outpost, when responding to a commenter on his post about Abortion laws in SD, made quite an interesting proposition that might make you think a little (maybe not).

First, to set the question up -- it's about abortion, so steel your nerves now.

Joe's post was talking about the law being passed in SD that would basically ban all abortions. The usual arguments and abortion-related comments showed up, and then the old "exception for rape and incest" showed up. Joe proposed quite a solution:

When a child is aborted because a rape-induced pregnancy, the rapist must also be killed. If the situation warrants the taking of an innocent life, then justice demands that we also take the life of the guilty.

Would you vote for that law? Be sure to think a little before you answer, please.

Prison bans smoking

Now this is interesting. The NC General Assembly passed a bill banning smoking inside "correctional" facilities. Now keep in mind, they can't keep illegal drugs out of prisons, but they seem to think they can keep cigarettes out. And yes, in this case, the state is completely within their rights because prisoners don't have all the rights of free people.

When the state is providing the medical care for a prisoner, then they most certainly have the right to adjust and control the "patients" to attempt to reduce medical costs.

Now one prison facility has chosen to expand that prohibition, banning smoking anywhere "on campus" -- including guards and other employees. They're selling this on the scientifically questionable, but publicly acceptable notion of "secondhand smoke." Don't you just love it when public facilities make public policy based on rumors? Expect lawsuits, but don't expect them to succeed.

Even more interesting is the process here. Note how quickly this passed through without any mention anywhere. And note exactly what's going on -- since the state is the one providing the medical services, they are within their right to attempt to restrict the activities of its patrons.

If the state provides medical services to you, or the public, then they will also be within their right to completely control your activities and lifestyle. Sure, the medical care might be "free" (to you), but only if you follow the rules. I can see this working for the socialist-style medicine that the Democrats so strongly support -- it's an easy way to completely control you so they like it.

Where could it lead? Simple -- make all medicine state-controlled as the Democrats would like. Then the state gets to decide who gets service and who doesn't. You're a smoker? They deny you any health care. You were caught speeding? Sorry, that's risky, no service for you. Hippocratic oath? Sorry, that's for the ancient Greeks, not state-sponsored health care.

Oh how I yearn for freedom.

Whiskey you're the Devil

Continuing my month-long celebration of Saint Patty's Day, today I present another classic and wonderful Irish Drinking Song, "Whiskey you're the devil."

I'm not sure how much Whiskey drinkers will appreciate this song, but I'm willing to bet they won't deny it...it's another great sing-along tune, too.

Amazon has a short clip so you can hear the tune if you don't know it:

Whiskey you're the divil, you're leading me astray
Over hills and mountains and to Amerikay
You're sweeter, stronger, dacenter
You're spunkier than tay
Oh whiskey you're me darlin' drunk or sober.

Oh, now brave boys are off for
marching off to Portugal and Spain
Drums are beating, banners flying
The divil a home we'll come tonight
Oh, love fare thee well
With me tiddery idle loodle lum a da
Me tiddery idle loodle lum a da
Me right fol torral addee o
There's whiskey in the jar.

Said the mother do not wrong me
Don't take me daughter from me
For if you do I will torment you
And after death me ghost will haunt you
Love fare thee well
With me tiddery idle loodle lum a da
Me tiddery idle loodle lum a da
Me right fol torral addee o
There's whiskey in the jar.

Now the French are fightin' bouldly
Men are dying hot and couldly
Give every man his flask of powder
His firelock on his shoulder,
Love fare thee well
With me tiddelly idle loodle lum a da
Me tiddery idle loodle lum a da
Me right fol torral addee o
There's whiskey in the jar.

American Legion vs. ACLU

Courier Press:

Rep. John Hostettler, R-Ind., called veterans who belong to the American Legion to fight again, "to defend our sacred liberties."

"This battle will be fought with letters, e-mails, phone calls and personal visits," he said.

The enemy? The American Civil Liberties Union.

Hostettler was speaking Tuesday to 700 members of the American Legion who are in Washington for an annual convention. Tuesday afternoon, many of them went to lobby their representatives, and Hostettler's bill, the Public Expression of Religion Act, was on their list of requests.

Hostettler told the crowd that Gibson County's Ten Commandments display challenge began because "a local strip club owner said he was offended. If he meant it troubled his conscience, the monument is a benefit to the community."

Chuckles rippled throughout the hotel ballroom, and then applause.

Ultimately, the display was held to be constitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court.

But often it goes the other way. Hostettler said, "The more cases they win, the more this false right is reinforced."

Hostettler told the group he has failed to get the bill made into law in four consecutive congressional sessions, and this is the fifth time he's tried.

"We need to pass PERA, and we need to pass PERA now," he said. He urged American Legion members to spread the word to their friends that they oppose "the ACLU and their minions who would enrich themselves at the expense of our Constitution."

Hostettler closed the speech by saying although the ACLU wouldn't like him saying so, "May He (God) continue to bless the United States of America."

Give the People What they Want!

I was listening to a local talk radio show on the way home last night, and the host, Jason Lewis had quite the idea. Since the left/Democrats/media (one and the same) keep giving their solutions and ideas, let's implement them. It would be a 3-step approach.

1. Immediate withdrawal of all troops from Iraq. Complete and total withdrawal. After all, those people can fend for themselves, right? If Saddam's people free him and he takes power again, that's fine -- it's none of our business, right?

2. Free all prisoners at Gitmo. They keep complaining about Gitmo prisoners, right? So we should do as they suggest -- just completely free all enemy combatants, all dangerous people who are bent on destroying America -- let them go free.

3. Cancel the Patriot Act and restore the "wall" between all the departments in the government -- no sharing of information between the CIA and FBI or anyone else. That's what the left wants, right?

That's the current, stated agenda of the left (media, Democrat Party, etc) in this country. Now, which of those do you support? If none, then you shouldn't be supporting the Democrat Party, or the formerly mainstream media.

Time to end The War

Ok, I give up.

We've spent literally hundreds of billions of dollars of taxpayer money. That money could have been used in better ways.

We've lost tens out thousands of lives. How can we continue a "war" when so many are killed every day?

We've ruined and destroyed countless families. This has to stop.

And we're losing. We are no closer to victory in the war than we were at the beginning. For every battle we win, we lose 10 others. We're losing the war, but our leaders simply cannot see it.

I give up. The war has to stop. The war should end now.

Winston-Salem Raises taxes 50%

The socialists on the Winston-Salem city council and the North Carolina Legislature raised taxes by 50% last week. And they've already scheduled to raise it by a similar amount next year.

The vote? In what seems to be a majority vote, the motion to raise the tax 50% passed 6-2. But, further investigation reveals that the 2 who voted against the increase had absolutely NO problem with the increase -- they voted against the tax because of limitations on how THEY could SPEND the money!

The 50% increase is on a tax that is actually CALLED the "Motor Vehicle privilege tax." No, that's not me calling a spade a spade, it's the actual name of the tax. Apparently in Winston-Salem, you have to PAY the city for the honor of owning a vehicle. I knew there was a reason I didn't live there.

Yet again, I wonder why people stay there. Why do you live in a city where the "elected" representatives fine you for being productive? Why don't you find a job that's outside the city? Or perhaps do as so many who move to Charlotte do -- move outside the city and only work there?

The government already has too much money. There is quite literally nothing you can say to convince me that the city NEEDS this tax increase to fund anything! I NEED a new 100-inch plasma HD TV to watch baseball this year. Why can't I have one? Why can't I point a gun at someone and take their money to pay for it? That's what government does, and no one seems to care.

Happy Day of Ashes

“Dust to dust, ashes to ashes.”

From dust we came, in dust we live – and yet from dust we are formed in order to live amid the dust of life on earth as a reflection of the Creator’s love and mercy. “God’s love and mercy often seems so severe,” I agonized to myself as I looked at the mounds of earth beside the grave. Somehow, although I believe it to be true, I’ve never felt much satisfaction in the promise of a future resurrection from the dust. Why do we have to go through all the pain of human mortality – of sin, struggle and suffering – just to end up being put into a hole in the ground and swallowed up by the earth from whence we came?

Saint Patrick's Month

How come Saint Patrick's Day only gets one day? How come there's not a whole season dedicated to this fun holiday? Come on, who dislikes green? Heck, Bush and Ford are all over "green" these days. And Saint Patrick was a nice guy (that's the whole "Saint" part in his title) -- although I'm sure, hated by anyone anti-religion.

So, I think we should celebrate the entire first half of the month of March, instead of just one day. So I shall -- with much singing!

Today, I'll give you the words to a really neat Irish tune. It's short, but very powerful. It was written in the early 1800s Thomas Moore. It's called "The Minstrel Boy." I love this song, have a neat rendition on CD, and sing along at the top of my voice:

The Minstrel Boy to the war is gone
In the ranks of death you will find him;
His father's sword he hath girded on,
And his wild harp slung behind him;"
Land of Song!" said the warrior bard,
"Tho' all the world betrays thee,
One sword, at least, thy rights shall guard,
One faithful harp shall praise thee!"

The Minstrel fell! But the foeman's chain
Could not bring that proud soul under;
The harp he lov'd ne'er spoke again,
For he tore its chords asunder;
And said "No chains shall sully thee,
Thou soul of love and brav'ry!
Thy songs were made for the pure and free,
They shall never sound in slavery!"

If you want to sing along, you can hear the midi tune as well.

Interestingly enough, when looking for the lyrics online so I didn't have to type them, I found The Minstrel Boy blog! Weird, huh?

And if I could sing a little better, I'd sing this at the Renaissance Festival this year...

Fair Tax?

Welcome to the second FairTax Blogburst!

While many people know what the FairTax is all about, many others do not. This week we'll cover a little ground explaining the basics of the FairTax, and why the members of this Blogburst think it's an idea whose time has come.

First off, let's be clear about one thing -- the FairTax is not about tax reform. It's a complete replacement of the existing system. The current tax on income is completely gutted. In the words of Steve Forbes,

"[The tax code] is a monstrosity, and there's only one thing to do with it. Scrap it, kill it, drive a stake through its heart, bury it, and hope it never rises again to terrorize the American people."

Lottery Funding Lies

The Lottery in North Carolina isn't even in place, and ALREADY Governor Mike Easley is showing what I completely predicted would happen -- the cash from the lottery absolutely WILL replace current funding, allowing the government to expand spending everywhere else BUT education. The North Carolina lottery, just like every other state-sponsored gambling, was sold on total and complete lies.

Sherri Johnson, told The Charlotte Observer: "Next year's budget will clearly show education funding from the general fund going up."

So, while spending from the general fund will increase for education (education spending will NEVER, EVER decrease), more than $1 billion from the education lottery is planned to REPLACE current projected levels of spending.

Democrats in North Carolina, I don't understand why you so strongly support such blatant liars as those who lead your party.

Hope for Freedom?

Well, probably not. Either way, the Supreme Court has agreed to hear a case that actually has something to do with the things that government IS supposed to be concerned with -- interstate commerce.

You see, one of the few things actually IN the Constitution is that it is illegal for states to put up barriers to trade with one another. That was one of the primary ideas behind these "united" states.

Article I, Section 10:

No state shall, without the consent of the Congress, lay any imposts or duties on imports or exports, except what may be absolutely necessary for executing it's inspection laws: and the net produce of all duties and imposts, laid by any state on imports or exports, shall be for the use of the treasury of the United States; and all such laws shall be subject to the revision and control of the Congress.

So states are very clearly prohibited from charging a company from out of state any duty on interstate goods. As to be expected from today's non-Constitutional Republic, states have been violating the law left and right -- with their "tax breaks" for businesses.

For example, NC just gave over $250 million cash to Dell to get Dell to put a plant in NC. That means they just charged every other business $250 million to DO business in North Carolina -- and that's illegal.

In 2004, a federal appeals court agreed -- a state cannot take money from one business and give it to another to take that business from another state. It's a clear violation of the commerce clause. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the case. They very clearly should uphold the appeals court ruling. I don't know if they will.

On the other hand, even if they do, state governments will surely continue doing exactly the same thing, they'll just call it something else. Government really, really, really stinks.

Send Cash -- Party Struggling

mardigras.jpgCan someone please explain why we're sending Billions of dollars to these people? Clearly they're not struggling. If these people truly needed money, they'd be trying to work, working for food, or at least sitting on a freeway off-ramp with the old "Will do nothing for food" sign.

But no, we'll continue trying to buy their votes with billions of *MY* money. This shows, yet again, that government is utterly incapable of administering any sort of charity program. And keep in mind -- it's NOT charity, love, or even helpful in any way, shape or form, when you're using someone else's money.

Oh, and just down the road from me, in Salisbury, NC, there are hundreds of trailers with giant "FEMA" signs on them. They're supposed to be free trailers for "victims" of the hurricane to live in for free. No, really, free houses to anyone who wants one -- but you see, they're in Salisbury because government (that's who owns them) has a rule that says they cannot put mobile homes in "flood-prone" areas.

So that enormous pile of government cash will sit here, doing nothing but rusting away... until, of course, the North Carolina government finds out about it -- you see, there's laws against "unsightly" rusting mobile homes in this state. When the state finds them, if they're rusty, the state can fine the owners and tow them away to the junkyard.

Is there anything that government can actually do right? I really don't think so. I'm not an anarchist, but if I need to be to get "compromise" and meet where the Constitutional Republic exists, I'm all for it. Remember this when you're looking at your paycheck and listening to Congressmen saying they can't cut taxes because they can't afford it.

School Board Sues State

Am I the only one who sees the complete and total insanity here? The North Carolina School Boards Association (a government entity, 100% paid for by taxpayers) is suing the state of North Carolina (a government entity, 100% paid for by taxpayers) because of a state requirement that people line Jim Black's (Speaker of the State House of Representatives) pockets before they are allowed in school.

So, let's see -- I am forced at gunpoint to pay to file the lawsuit. I am forced at gunpoint to pay the lawyers who do the suing. I am forced at gunpoint to pay for the defense. I am forced at gunpoint to pay for the court costs. Heck, if there's a fine or financial penalty involved, I am forced at gunpoint to pay that AND the lawyer's fees.

It's just beyond comprehension. There is a 0% chance that anyone can win here, and a 100% chance that huge piles of taxpayer money will be tossed down the drain. I wish there were somewhere on earth that I could go that had a Constitutional Republic where this sort of utter insanity doesn't happen.

Oh, how I long for freedom.

Immigration Education

This week's Blogburst provided verbatim by Euphoric Reality (this means that Ogre is not the parent with two kids in TX):

As a parent with two kids in Texas schools, I have a pet peeve. I really, really resent that their education is hampered by kids who can’t speak English. I’ve seen classes that move mind-bogglingly slow as teachers have to work one-on-one with children who shouldn’t be there in the first place. It’s enough to make me grind my teeth in frustration!

I am a big proponent of the immersion method of learning a language. It is my firm belief that once in America, immigrants should learn our language, and the best way is by complete and total immersion. When we lived in Mexico, we placed my son into a public school in the local village so that he could learn the language more rapidly. I continued to teach him at home what he needed to know to keep his education above American standards, and his classroom experience was for language purposes only. We asked for no special considerations, we just did what was necessary. It was not easy, but it worked.

Islam IS Treasonous

Treason:

1. Violation of allegiance toward one's country or sovereign, especially the betrayal of one's country by waging war against it or by consciously and purposely acting to aid its enemies.

Sheikh Ismail Nawahda, preaching in Jerusalem, directing all followers of Islam around the world:
...unite all the Moslems in the world against the infidels...[to] restore the Moslem dictatorship using a system of small groups around the world

How much more clear does that need to be? People who are of the religion of Islam are actively working to overthrow the American government. If you are of the Islam religion and are not, you are disobeying your own leaders. Either way, Islam is not about freedom of religion, it's about treason.

Islam in America should be declared what it is: a treasonous organization that exists to overthrow the government. You have a right to freedom of religion, but you do not have the right to organize with the sole purpose of destroying the government.
