He was even discussing loose ideas for a third season with members of his team. But early last week, Marvel and DeMayo suddenly parted ways. His company email was deactivated and cast and crew were informed he was no longer on the project. DeMayo's Instagram account, once a source for X-Men updates, was deleted. Following a lengthy summary of the book's contents, as well as his own history with the franchise, Tondro was eventually met by the observation from Kenreck that "It's important [to note] that this is a historical document, so there are things in there -- it was a different time, so we've had an inclusivity review of all these materials", to which he enthusiastically replied, "Multiple. So let's take a step back here. Let's clarify. There are materials in original Dungeons and Dragons that would never pass our inclusivity reviews today." "Some of it you can understand," the designer proceeded to argue. "Like, okay. These are a bunch of war gamers, and they're using armies from history, so when they create a warrior class for D&D, they call it the Fighting Man [the original name for the Fighter class]! Because that's what they were used to, they were all men, they were all white dudes from Lake Geneva and the Twin Cities."

Special Counsel Robert Hur stood by his assessment that President Joe Biden was a "well-meaning, elderly man" whose failing memory would have made it untenable to pursue prosecution of his willful retention of classified records during testimony before the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday. Transcripts of Hur's interviews with Biden released Tuesday and reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon support Hur's assessment that there are "significant limitations" surrounding Biden's memory. That's called lying. He supports a resolution that falsely connects a UN report on violence against women in Gaza, Judea and Samaria with reports that women are "harassed" at checkpoints. You know, the checkpoints that Israel sets up to allow Arab workers into Israel without allowing them to bring guns and suicide vests. And Schiff, who cloaks himself in the armor of being descendants of people who fled the Holocaust, is willing to inflame his base with support for this insane resolution, that of course emerged from the fetid Jew-hating Michigan delegation in the house. That's who the Democrat party is. That's who many Jewish Democrats are. They use their Jewishness as a political tool, but their real religion is progressivism, otherwise known as the naked pursuit of power. They are not real Jews, and they certainly don't support the only Jewish state in the world, even though it is a vibrant democracy, and the tip of the spear in the fight against Islamic expansionism. At least the Arabs in Dearbornistan and the Somalis in Mogadishu on the Mississippi have some philosophical underpinning to their Jew hate. It is understandable, although not acceptable in a free society such as ours. What's Schiff's excuse, other than channeling Stalin?

Meddling in Haiti is hardly a new idea for Foggy Bottom. After our two-decade 20th-century occupation ended in 1934, the U.S. treated Haiti like other Caribbean countries during the Cold War, strategically controlling their politics to prevent Soviet influence from expanding within striking distance. Now, of course, to even the most cold-blooded realist, Haiti’s close proximity remains relevant. This is what almost nobody admits about the current unrest. According to his own former special envoy to Haiti, [spurious] President Biden’s “chief reason” for backing Ariel Henry was the new president’s “malleability and the fact that he agreed that he would take all the deportees that they wanted to send.” This was reported in September of 2022 by Todd Bensman in the New York Post, though Biden faced little scrutiny over the blockbuster revelation as Henry’s Haiti descended deeper and deeper into the depths of suffering. . . . . . Fearful of backlash from the left, Biden is routing more and more migrants with dubious asylum claims through legal pathways of entry, incentivizing millions of economic migrants to pay cartel smuggling fees for access. (Make no mistake, every migrant pays.) This is destabilizing countries from Chile to Mexico, clouding pathways for people fleeing violence with legitimate asylum claims, and boosting cartel control of Latin America. Honduras and the Dominican Republic, for example, have been coping with an influx of migrants immediately fleeing Haiti. Counterproductive is truly the best descriptor for a policy that encourages migrants to empower cartels that destabilize the region, in turn, sending more people to our own border. Biden’s short-term priority, though, is not to stabilize the region. It’s to secure his own political power, which Democrats believe will be harmed by enacting serious reforms to the asylum process. (If he actually implemented Remain in Mexico tomorrow, his base would be furious, but migration would gradually slow cartels’ human smuggling to a relative trickle.)Lest we forget the over $5 billion dollars in American "relief" money that has been mindlessly dumped into Haiti since an earthquake struck – over 14 years ago! Much of it wound up in the pockets of the elite thugs like ex-president Henry and his multiple predecessors, current "President" Barbeque and mostly into the back accounts of everyone's favorite kleptocrat global citizens, Hilary and Bill Clinton. And the money continues to flow despite Haitian happy meals of two "Barbeque'd" thighs, a breast and a hush puppy (for Obama) consumed con gusto. I'd say, you want fries with that, but "fries" is implied. Literally. And while American boots are supposedly on the ground to evacuate embassy personnel, Biden had this message of hope for ordinary citizens stuck in the carnage:

Congressional Republicans are increasingly critical of Biden’s paralysis in the face of the Haitian disaster, especially since people outside of the multi-trillion-dollar administration are, once more, stepping up to arrange rescue missions, as they did following Biden’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan.*Robert Plant voice*: "Does anyone remember Afghanistan?!" Or for that matter, considering Hilary Clinton, Benghazi? If I were a hard-bitten cynic, I'd say the Junta could care fuck-all about these people, especially since they are religious Christians. One would think actually rescuing Americans would be good optics for Sponge-Brain Shits-Pants, especially since by all indications he is headed for a massive electoral wipeout come November (Dao-Min Yen and the traitors at CIA/DOJ notwithstanding). But no. let the Bible-thumping Jesus freaks fend for themselves, lest we piss off homosexuals, pedophiles, transexuals, Muslims and homo-pedo-tranny-jihadis which comprise the core of the Democrat Party base these days. The estimated over 1,000 troops will spend as long as 2 months laboring to build a floating pier in a war zone under potential attack to help transfer aid to the Hamas supporters living in Gaza. Nothing about this plan makes sense. The media has taken to falsely claiming that the Arab Muslims occupying parts of Gaza are starving. "As written, these six counts contain all the essential elements of the crimes but fail to allege sufficient detail regarding the nature of their commission [...] They do not give the Defendants enough information to prepare their defenses intelligently, as the Defendants could have violated the Constitutions and thus the statute in dozens, if not hundreds, of distinct ways..."I believe the problem comes when Fani and Sweetdick say that Trump and the codefendants "improperly demanded or importuned" election officials to do this or that. He's saying, you have to be more specific about the wrong acts you're claiming they actually committed. They "importuned" election officials? How? In what way? What did they say? What were the parts of this "importuning" that you claim are "improper" and illegal? When did they supposedly so "importune" officials? If Fani and Sweetdick have more specifics about these importunings, they may refile. But there are questions of timing which will vex the Adulterous Avengers.

That will take time off the clock. The court has indicated that they can still rely on the underlying conduct to make out the general racketeering charge. However, that theory was alreadly thin...
...Part of the value of the multiplicity of counts was to convey a pattern criminality as a foundation for the more serious racketeering charges. This does not disable the case, but it adds yet another set back for the prosecution as it awaits the disqualification decision.
Honig referred to the new development in the case as just the latest in a series of "screwups" by Willis. "There have been several screwups, frankly, by the DA throughout the history of this case. Going back to the investigative phase, the DA got herself disqualified from a small piece of the case because she created a political conflict of interest," he said. "The judge who was overseeing the grand jury removed Fani Willis from the case. We've seen Fani Willis make public statements in the church and elsewhere that have now been called into question that I think violate the ethics of prosecutorial rules and now we've seen six of the charges thrown out of the case and unlike the conflict of interest issue, this does go to the charges against the defendant. In a tight job market, workers have the leverage. There are too few workers for the jobs available, so their bargaining power is higher. It makes no sense that "companies are seizing on a tight job market to reduce salaries." This strongly suggests the job market is not, in fact, "tight" at all.
But, say experts, companies aren't necessarily just seizing a moment in a tight job market to reduce costs.

UK's National Health Services Will No Longer "Routinely" Prescribe Puberty Blockers to Mentally-Ill Children
It must really burn the BCC's "LGBT and Identity Producer" -- that zir's real title -- to report this.
Children will no longer routinely be prescribed puberty blockers at gender identity clinics, NHS England has confirmed. The decision comes after a review found there was "not enough evidence" they are safe or effective. Puberty blockers, which pause the physical changes of puberty, will now only be available as part of research.That's a big exception, and radical transgender-promoting doctors will create "research programs" and recruit as many children as possible into them. But still, it's something.

It comes weeks before an independent review into gender identity services in England is due to be published. An interim report from the review, published in 2022 by Dr Hilary Cass, had earlier found there were "gaps in evidence" around the drugs and called for a transformation in the model of care for children with gender-related distress. Dr Cass's review follows a sharp rise in referrals to the Gender Identity Development Service (Gids), run by the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, which saw an increase from 250 per year to over 5,000 in 2022.
... Fewer than 100 young people in England are currently prescribed puberty blockers by the NHS. They will all able to continue their treatment. NHS England held a public consultation on their usage and last year introduced an interim policy which stated they should only be given as part of research trials or in "exceptional circumstances". The BBC understands that the new policy, confirmed on Tuesday, will not allow them to be prescribed "routinely" outside of a research trial, but that individual clinicians can still apply to have the drugs funded for patients on a case-by-case basis.Well then this isn't a rule at all then, is it? House of Representatives Passes the TikTok Divestiture Bill by a Huge, Bipartisan Margin
The bill does not outlaw TikTok or shut it down. What it does is required the ChiCom owner of TikTok, a state-controlled entity called ByteDance, to sell the US part of the operation (I believe) to some non-China-controlled entity within (I think) six months or so.

In an interview with CBS' "60 Minutes," a tech expert stated that the U.S. version of TikTok -- a Chinese-owned social media platform -- is different than the Chinese version of the app, comparing the two experiences to opium and spinach.It is widely agreed that TikTok mostly appeals to "teens" and pre-teen children, and is psychologically harmful.
Although they're both owned by ByteDance, Douyin -- China's version of TikTok -- offers a different version of the social media app that is unavailable to the rest of the world, especially for children. "It's almost like they recognize that technology is influencing kids' development, and they make their domestic version a spinach version of TikTok, while they ship the opium version to the rest of the world," Tristan Harris, a former Google employee, and advocate for social media ethics, said of China's approach to TikTok. "If you're under 14 years old, they show you science experiments you can do at home, museum exhibits, patriotism videos and educational videos," said Harris, according to "60 Minutes," adding that children in China were limited to only 40 minutes a day on the app. "There's a survey of pre-teens in the U.S. and China asking, 'what is the most aspirational career that you want to have?' and in the U.S., the No. 1 was a social media influencer, and in China, the No. 1 was astronaut," Harris said. "You allow those two societies to play out for a few generations and I can tell you what your world is going to look like."
TikTok and its possible harmful effects on the mental health of children and teenager users are being investigated by a bipartisan group of U.S. state attorneys general from coast to coast -- the latest issue for the wildly popular video-sharing app. A nationwide probe was announced Wednesday by a number of states, led by officials from California, Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Jersey, Tennessee and Vermont. Officials plan to investigate if using TikTok is harmful to children and teenagers and if the company is violating state consumer protection laws in promoting its platform to young people. The announcement came amid widening scrutiny of the video-sharing app, which is particularly popular among teens and younger children and is estimated to have 1 billion monthly users.Though kids should get off all of social media, not just TikTok.
Tiktok and kids U.S. lawmakers and federal regulators have criticized TikTok for its computer-driven algorithms, saying it pushes video content that can endanger the physical and mental health of young users. Last month, Texas opened an investigation into TikTok's alleged violations of children's privacy and facilitation of human trafficking. "As children and teens already grapple with issues of anxiety, social pressure, and depression, we cannot allow social media to further harm their physical health and mental wellbeing," Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey said in a statement. California Attorney General Rob Bonta noted in a separate statement how "children are growing up in the age of social media -- and many feel like they need to measure up to the filtered versions of reality that they see on their screens." "We know this takes a devastating toll on children's mental health and well-being. But we don't know what social media companies knew about these harms and when," Bonta said.
New research confirms the dangers of too much screen time for kids and teens: Those who play sports, take music lessons, or socialize with friends after school are happier and healthier than children who are glued to a screen during these hours. "Screen time, where you are sitting and watching TV or playing computer games or scrolling social media for hours on end, is so detrimental because it's sedentary and usually not engaging," said study author Rosa Virgara, a research associate at the University of South Australia.I imagine that applies to adults as well. Andrew Huberman and Cal Newport just discussed social media causing attention deficit disorder and depression among kids. Newport notes that while TikTok didn't invent the dopamine-manipulating addictive algorithm, it seems to have perfected it. On the other hand, of course, the left has agreed to the divestiture bill for TikTok because they have the Real Prize in mind: Twitter. They would like to pass the same bill to force Elon Musk to sell Twitter to representatives of the Democrat Party. Republicans can object and say that the TikTok bill was only justified because it was owned by a hostile foreign nation, doing the bidding of that hostile foreign nation's intelligence services. Democrats will say, no, the action was justified because TikTok "causes harm" and nothing causes more harm than Pepe the Frog memes on Twitter. They will say that Elon Musk is much, much more dangerous than Red China. I mean -- what is more dangerous than Free Speech? Nothing, that's what. So we need to control it. "Free Speech" is only safe when it is fully controlled by The Regime. On the other other hand, the Zaphod Beeblebrox spare hand, the right constantly argues that "we can't do x because that will free the left to do something horrible," but this argument has been proven hollow: The left is doing horrible things whether we grant a precedent they can claim to justify it or not. The left is currently using lawfare to steal billions from Elon Musk. They're already gunning for him -- forcing TikTok to be American-owned doesn't give them a "precedent" to do that which they are already eagerly doing. She and her colleagues looked at how nearly 62,000 kids aged 4 to 9 spent their time after school. These kids also completed questionnaires about their well-being. Children who played video games, watched TV and used social media after school almost always had lower levels of well-being than their peers who took part in after-school activities, the study showed.
Kids from lower socioeconomic backgrounds were less likely to play sports, take music lessons or hang out with friends than kids who came from wealthier households, but the study found those who had access to organized sports were happier and healthier as a result.
I think libertarians should be dunked on for their dogmatic and attention-whoring ways, but there's no doubt that this precedent will be turned next on Twitter and Rumble. Rumble shares RUM, 8.39% rose 18.3% to $7.90 on Tuesday following its expression of interest in taking over TikTok. The stock is down 14% over the past 12 months. Chris Pavlovski, chief executive of the video-sharing site, said Rumble is ready to join a consortium with other parties seeking to acquire and operate TikTok inside the United States in the event that China's ByteDance divests its ownership in the video app. Specifically, Rumble said it's ready to serve as a cloud technology partner. The offer comes a day after publicly launching Rumble Cloud, a cloud offering for businesses.Does Rumble have anywhere near enough money to even be part of a consortium to buy TikTok? I dunno. This could just be a clever way to get out news about the start of its cloud service, which will compete with Amazon's monopoly control over cloud services.

A Bit of Doublethink
It's always amusing to see a person or organization engage in nearly perfect Doublethink. When someone consistently holds a position and then simply and easily subscribes to a contradictory position at the same time, it's a strong example that the person you're dealing with is dishonest or insane (or, of course, both). There was a splendid example of this late last week on CBS News' morning program.
The story was related to the spring time change and sleep problems. In an unusual deviation from the "women and minorities hardest hit" standard, the segment focused on schoolkids and how already sleep-deprived teenagers (who have apparently always been sleep deprived, since these same kinds of stories were also common when I was a teenager) may have more trouble coping with "springing forward," and urged caution specifically regarding the use of Melatonin.

Peter Paul Rubens Satyrs were woodland creatures from ancient Greek mythology. Early depictions were of wild and playful human-like creatures with tails. By the era following Alexander the Great, satyrs had evolved into the more familiar man-goat form associated with debauchery and the wine god Dionysus. This is the image that has been passed down through Western culture to today. In this work, Peter Paul Rubens presents this creature in all his debased, debauched glory. The figure in front stares full-on at me with this unsettling grin. It’s the cringy type of grin a drunk gives you from across a bar. His cheeks and nose are red from too much drinking and his eyes are watery. In fact, he looks like he is having a hard time focusing on me. His hair and beard are wild and unkempt, with a crown made of grape vines (I think) on his head. He looks barbaric and unruly. The figure in back tones down the work some. To me, he looks unserious and is just hanging out with no real purpose. In profile, he guzzles wine from a cup, chugging it so fast, some of it spills from his mouth. He is clownish and unserious. In fact, he is so disinterested in anything but his drink, I wondered what would happen to the work if I mentally erased him. It changed the painting dramatically. Satyrs were sex-fiends that symbolized hedonism and carnal satisfaction. Today, a man with an insatiable sexual desire is said to have satyrism. The front satyr becomes much more menacing when I remove his companion. His nearly nude, muscular body shows off a powerful figure. The animal skin covering makes him wild and earthy. And then there’s that stare. I can’t stop looking at him – especially his eyes. His left eye, in shadow, catches the light, giving it an eerie glow. This reminds me of the publicity poster for The Terminator with its glowing red eye. I feel uneasy around him. My opinion of this work completely changed while writing this essay. At first, I thought Two Satyrs goofy and light-hearted. Now I think it’s creepy.
