Do You Feel Richer?

So, do you feel richer? Do you have piles of extra cash now? You should. You see, the government of North Carolina recently ordered everyone to have more money and the law went into effect over 3 days ago now. So you should all have more money. What? You don't? How can that be?

In North Carolina now, the punitive wage, I mean, minimum wage, was raised by one dollar. Why? So that the government could ensure that everyone has more money. So how much richer are you? What's that you say? You don't earn the minimum wage, so you don't get an increase? That's not what the liberal Democrats who run the North Carolina government say.

In reality (somewhere the liberal Democrats have never been), this "wage increase" will cost you money -- no matter if you make the minimum wage or not. You see, now that small businesses are forced by government to hand out more money for absolutely nothing, they will have to charge more for their products and services. Why? Simple economics. If it costs more to produce something, they have to charge more to make it.

Oh, and those few people who are making minimum wage just got taught a valuable lesson: they can get more money for doing absolutely NOTHING if they just rely on government. Of course, that's the lesson that the socialists who claim to be Democrats in the North Carolina legislature want them to get -- these people honestly WANT peons to be dependent on government. It's a good thing that there's still enough suckers people who are willing to work for a living to support themselves AND all the other bottom-feeders that rely on government.

I could go on and on, but the arguments are the same. Why stop there? Why not make a minimum wage of $100,000 a year? Simple, there is no logical reason. Any argument against a minimum of $100K could be used against $6.15. Folks, why in the world, if I want to sell my labor and services for $2 an hour, should government stop me? In a free society, they wouldn't. North Carolina is not a free society.

Cool Clock

Thanks to Big Dog -- he points out this really cool clock. That's just neat. I wonder if I can find a way to get it on my desktop...yup, there it goes. That's just pretty cool. Active Desktop works sometimes. But go check out that clock, it's neat.

Governor-Elect of MA is Furious

In case you missed it, the governor-elect of MA is furious. Why? Well, according to reports, he's mad that discrimination might be inserted into the constitution. He spend time meeting with the leaders of the MA House and Senate, urging them to not vote on the issue. But they voted anyone, and the governor-elect is mad.

What's the issue? Well, being MA, it's either taxes or gays. This time it's gays.

You see, the vote was basically ordered by the MA Supreme Court. The Court pretty much told the legislature that they had to vote. I'm rather surprised this time that the Court didn't also tell them the way to vote, since the MA Supreme Court apparently has to power to make laws, enforce laws, and interpret laws (well, they do, whether they have the power to or not).

In this case over 170,000 people in the fiefdom state of MA had sent a petition to the government, asking them to change the Constitution. The governor elect didn't like that. The governor-elect thought that he was the only one with power in the state. He was really annoyed that the peons people might actually have some say in the laws. So he tried to stop the vote.

What WAS the vote? Oh, the vote was to allow the people to vote on a Constitutional Amendment. Yes, the person that the moron people of MA just elected to be their chief executive was angry that the serfs people might change the laws of the state. The governor-elect is mad that the people of the state of MA might actually have SOME say in their government! That's why he's mad -- not because of the content of the law, but because he doesn't want to allow any power to be anywhere but in him and other politicians.

And you wonder why it's referred to as the Socialist State.

** Update: Thanks to Raven -- she points out that the Boston Globe, paper of the socialist party, is just as furious. They're actually complaining that the people want to change the Constitution. They even go so far as to claim that the people have absolutely NO RIGHT to be able to change the laws under which they live. Seriously.

The even go further, saying

the new Legislature ... must consider whether this is an appropriate issue to put to the voters

In other words, the people are too stupid to govern themselves. That's a really horrible stance to take in a state that was once a bastion of freedom (well, over 200 years ago). The Boston Globe has now openly declared that a representative republic is bad and they only support total socialism.

Oh, how I yearn for freedom!

** Update2: Mass Backwards adds more and more.

Edgecombe County, NC

In case you were wondering how socialism was progressing in NC, Edgecombe County has weighed in with their end of year report. In case you don't want to follow the link, I'll provide the summary for you.

First, they're making progress in punishing people who work elsewhere in the state. They're celebrating that $27 million extra dollars from people outside their county will flow into their county so they can give it to people who do not work. Of course, $27 million isn't enough, and they're hoping the counties of NC can work together to force other counties to give them even more. The more they punish those who work so they can give money to those who don't, the happier they are.

Next, they're happy to have started construction on a new water district, despite not having enough money to actually build it, or even enough customers to actually USE the system. But they're happy because they're spending money. And they're sure some more people will sign up to use the new water district. And if the people don't, they'll just pass some laws and force people to use it -- they'll just claim some crap about safety and cram it down everyone's throat.

They're also considering taking away any freedom of choice for emergency services and are considering raising taxes more to force everyone to use a county-wide system, whether they want it or not. They're afraid that there might be someone who is more than 10 seconds away from a fire station, so they might need to force everyone to use a county system, no matter what anyone wants.

They're also making plans to bribe at least one more business to come to the county at the expense of the taxpayers. They're trying to decide how much money to take now from people who work and produce to give to a private business that has done absolutely nothing to actually earn, well, anything.

So in Edgecombe County for last year, the score is socialism 4, freedom 0.

NC Bribes Google

Well, the $4.7 million taxpayer cash bribe hasn't actually been accepted, but it's certainly been offered. In short, the Democrat-led North Carolina General Assembly just took $4.7 Million of taxpayer dollars -- money that people worked for and earned that they took by force, and offered to give it to a private company just because they like to bribe companies.

Oh, and that's in addition to the millions of dollars that they gave Google this summer in the form of free sales taxes. Yes, you lowly peons have to pay a sales tax on everything you buy and will likely have to pay a higher sales tax rate this year, but if you're a fancy company that the North Carolina legislature happens to like, well, you just don't have to pay any taxes at all. It's called "Screw the Worker and Reward the Business" -- a Democrat staple here in North Carolina.

Now for those of you who were sucked in by the claims that the company will "generate millions" in revenue, I ask you what they would do if they were NOT given the millions of dollars in taxpayer money? Would they relocate elsewhere? Or might they just go ahead and build the expansion anyway? Right now, they are clearly and obviously playing one government against another to see who will give them the most cash. However, as with any bidding war, as soon as one person stops, everyone stops.

So North Carolina, how about taking the lead in the country. How about making a bold, strong, very pro-business and pro-freedom move? How about telling businesses that we would love to have you here, but we're not bribing you? Instead we could maintain low taxes and freedom for everyone, businesses and people, and businesses and people would flock to North Carolina -- without a single dollar of bribe money.

However, as long as the Democrats are in control in the General Assembly, that's simply not going to happen. The Democrats honestly HATE freedom because it removes power and control from themselves. Remember this $4.7+ million bribe when in less than a month the Democrats complain about "needing" to raise taxes "for the children." They will be lying yet again.

Television and Physics

Just a quick note to people who might need to know such things. Something that I learned today by experience that, well, just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I found that spending an afternoon watching The World's Strongest Man competitions, including monster Mariusz Pudzianowski, does NOT make you able to lift more weight yourself at the gym. So don't bother trying, you'll just look like a fool.

Good Gun Stories

Apparently blogless Chris mentioned Gun Watch (a blog site) in response to my post about good gun news. It's a nice site:

Monitoring people's right to effective self-defence..

There's a whole list of news stories that show guns being used by lawful citizens to defend themselves against criminals who, in many cases, try to kill or injure the citizens. It's a nice site. Good news is fun!

How Things Change

Raven send this one along to me in email. How amazingly true this is -- and how wrong society is today:

++++++++++++++++++++++

Scenario: Jack pulls into school parking lot with rifle in gun rack.

1956 - Vice Principal comes over, takes a look at Jack's rifle, goes to his car and gets his to show Jack.

2006 - School goes into lockdown, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.

Ogre says: Morons. Did anyone else notice that as there were less guns in schools, there was MORE crime and MORE shootings? It's true, whether you want to admit it or not. Guns are NOT evil.

++++++++++++++++++++++

Scenario: Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.

1956 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up best friends. Nobody goes to jail, nobody arrested, nobody expelled.

2006 - Police called, SWAT team arrives, arrests Johnny and Mark. Charge them with assault, both expelled even though Johnny started it.

Ogre says: Good thing we've got huge, bloated, enormous government to be able to do such things, isn't it? The reason they didn't get arrested in the past is because we didn't have the resources and we knew that there was no damn reason to jail a couple of kids.

++++++++++++++++++++++

Scenario: Jeffrey won't be still in class, disrupts other students.

1956 - Jeffrey sent to office and given a good paddling by Principal. Sits still in class.

2006 - Jeffrey given huge doses of Ritalin. Becomes a zombie. School gets extra money from state because Jeffrey has a disability.

Ogre says: So true. Today's government education system is about money, NOT about education. There's no way any school will throw a student out of class for ANY reason because they'd lose money. Heck, Charlotte schools have registered sex offenders in school -- and they get paid by the federal government to keep them there.

++++++++++++++++++++++

Scenario: Billy breaks a window in his father's car and his Dad gives him a whipping.

1956 - Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college, and becomes a successful businessman.

2006 - Billy's Dad is arrested for child abuse. Billy removed to foster care and joins a gang. Billy's sister is told by state psychologist that she remembers being abused herself and their Dad goes to prison. Billy's mom has affair with psychologist.

Ogre says: Note the result in the first case: Billy grows up normal. Spankings do not destroy a child, no matter what Dr. Spock or other liberal whiny-pants people say. Social services is the most worthless and destructive government agency in existence, second even to the scum that is the IRS.

++++++++++++++++++++++

Scenario: Mark gets a headache and takes some headache medicine to school.

1956 - Mark shares headache medicine with Principal out on the smoking dock.

2006 - Police called, Mark expelled from school for drug violations. Car searched for drugs and weapons.

Ogre says: Yup. That's true. Take an aspirin to school and lose all your rights and go to jail. Can anyone give any possible reason why? Oh, right, because liberals run the schools and they're stupid morons. I guess that's a reason.

++++++++++++++++++++++

Scenario: Mary turns up pregnant.

1956 - 5 High School Boys leave town. Mary does her senior year at a special school for expectant mothers.

2006 - Middle School Counselor calls Planned Parenthood, who notifies the ACLU. Mary is driven to the next state over and gets an abortion without her parent's consent or knowledge. Mary given condoms and told to be more careful next time.

Ogre says: Either that or Mary gets special treatment for all her classes, extra federal funds, extra time, free excuses for anything and then expects special treatments and free money, housing, and food from the state for life.

++++++++++++++++++++++

Scenario: Pedro fails high school English.

1956: Pedro goes to summer school, passes English, goes to college.

2006: Pedro's cause is taken up by state democratic party. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against state school system and Pedro's English teacher. English banned from core curriculum. Pedro given diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he can't speak English.

Ogre says: And if there were justice, if Pedro were an illegal alien, he'd be deported or jailed. And in the 50s, Pedro would learn English and assimilate. But today he will expect everyone else to speak his language, whatever that happens to be, and the government will punish anyone who does not.

++++++++++++++++++++++

Scenario: Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from the 4th of July, puts them in a model airplane paint bottle, blows up a red ant bed.

1956 - Ants die.

2006 - BATF, Homeland Security, FBI called. Johnny charged with domestic terrorism, FBI investigates parents, siblings removed from home, computers confiscated, Johnny's Dad goes on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.

Ogre says: Hey look, it's that big, nanny-state government again. You know, if government were shrunk by, oh, 90%, they wouldn't have enough money to investigate Johnny and his firecrackers. And yes, that would be a good thing.

++++++++++++++++++++++

Scenario: Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary, hugs him to comfort him.

1956 - In a short time Johnny feels better and goes on playing.

2006 - Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She faces 3 years in State Prison.

Ogre says: Wrong ending. Because she is female, she can have sex with Johnny and not be punished. But if she doesn't, she will be charged with assault, the school district will be sued, and the taxpayers will have to pay millions to Johnny's lawsuit-happy mom.

And you know what? Every single one of these examples illustrates a total loss of freedom in America. Every one. Oh, how I yearn for freedom.

Free NC Licenses

Well it's the new year, so it must be time for the Democrats that run North Carolina to give something new away. Don't worry, they will. This time it's free fishing licenses if you're a member of a "preferred" group, according to the NC General Assembly (D). And no, if you're working, employed, or productive, you are NOT a member of the "special" class that gets free fishing licenses.

State Sen. Charles Albertson, D-Duplin said, "We don’t need to be charging license fees to people on food stamps who are fishing; however, we do need to screw those who are productive and take as much as we can away from those sorry bastards who are actually working and earning a living." Well, he didn't actually say the part after the "however," but he might as well have because that IS what they are doing.

Folks, this is your Democrat Party of today, whether you want to admit it or not. Their primary goal in life is to punish those who work and are productive and reward those who do not work. That's wrong no matter what you want to call it.

For those who still don't get it: government is utterly and totally incapable of being "generous" or "compassionate." Government has ZERO dollars. ANY dollar they give away is money that they had to take away from someone who earned it. That's not compassion, that's theft. The only reason it's not called theft is because those who are doing it are the ones who determine who gets punished for stealing.

If you hate the money you earn, vote Democrat and stop working. You will be taken care of by the Democrats in North Carolina because they will stop at nothing to take from producers and give to the lazy.

2007: Year of Freedom?

In the future, could history look back at 2007 and decide that it was the Year of Freedom? It's certainly possible. Over the past few months here at this blog, I've often mentioned the Free State Project (FSP). Recently I've often highlighted a project of the FSP called the "First 1,000." The idea of the "First 1,000" was to get 1,000 people to agree to move to New Hampshire in 2007 to "work to bring about a society in which government’s maximum role is protecting life, liberty, and property" by Dec 31, 2008.

Well guess what? The pledge succeeded! 1,033 people signed up to move in a year (or two) to New Hampshire with the primary purpose of working towards reducing government and increasing freedom! I didn't think they were going to be able to find 1,000 people, but the FSP made a lot of phone calls in the last couple weeks of December, and they've found the thousand people!

At the same time, over 7,500 people have signed up to help the FSP and move at some time in the future (other than 2007). Folks, that's huge. Over 400 people are already in New Hampshire working for freedom, and they are already having an effect on the law and the elections. This isn't a Democrat, Republican, or Libertarian movement, it's a movement of people who want freedom. There are members of many different political parties involved in the movement, and they ALL want freedom -- so they're going to New Hampshire.

If you want to see freedom in action, if you truly want freedom from oppressive governments, New Hampshire is the place to go. At least 1,000 people are moving this year (or the next) for freedom. More will follow. This really is happening, and I honestly believe it's the only real hope for freedom today.

Now if you can't move for some reason now, consider moving in the future. If you don't want to move to New Hampshire, you might have to wait for freedom. After freedom is established in New Hampshire and others see how wonderful it is, it will be exported -- that's what freedom does.

But this is it. Freedom IS happening now. Some people will have freedom in their lifetime -- and it's going to start in New Hampshire, and it's going to start THIS YEAR. 2007 may eventually be known as the start of the 21st century freedom movement.

New Neighbor #42

A year or more ago, I had started a Sunday feature called "New Neighbors." Each Sunday I would go down the blogroll over on the right (on the main page) started by Joe Carter of The Evangelical Outpost listed as "Evangelicals". In one of his posts, he suggested that those of us on the blogroll get to know one another. In that vein, I started reading and following various blogs, and added each one as I read it to my own blogroll (also on the right side of the main page) called "Introduced Neighbors."

I kept this up for almost a year -- from Neighbor #1 to #41. However, if you check that blogroll now, you will find that there's only 28 neighbors on the list. That's because when I did my blogroll cleaning last week, I found a lot of them had stopped posting for one reason or another. I had stopped doing the neighbors feature on Sundays because I had started putting a different value on Sundays and had other plans.

With the new layout and the new year come changes. And one of those changes will be to re-start the neighbor feature on Sundays. I won't be going in any particular order, nor will I only highlight "big" blogs. Instead, each week I'll just pick a random blog from that list and check it out and highlight it here. Those of you looking for some Sunday afternoon easy reading can be sure to check in here each week, as the posts will go up between noon and 1pm EST each week starting, well, now!

New Neighbor #42 is:

All Things 2 All

This blog is located in N.Z. (Narnia Zone, aka New Zealand) and run by Catez Stevens. She has a wide variety of interests, from poetry to molecular biology to surfing to Sudan. And she lists one of the best all-time movies as one of her favorites: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Now this blog isn't one of those like Ogre's that is updated many times a day. Instead, All Things 2 All appears to be updated about once a week (sometimes less often). But the posts that do appear seem to be rather interesting and informative.

There is one post that looks at the life of Leslie Van Houten. Do you recognize that name? I know I knew the name, but couldn't remember why. As soon as I started reading the post, I remembered why that name was familiar. I bet you will, too.

To show the wide variety of posts, the next post after Ms. Van Houten's was a rather long and detailed review of The Nativity Story move. I hadn't seen the movie and if you haven't, this review might help make you decide if you want to see it or not.

And while many blogs have "tip jars" or other ways that you can contribute to the author, this blog is a bit more interesting. Instead of having a "tip jar" for the author of the blog, she instead asks you to send your donations to help the people of Darfur, Sudan.

That's a neat idea, I think I shall have to add something like that. But I think I will direct my donations to either the Samaritan's Purse, a group I know does extremely good works; or to a charity suggested by good friend, Heifer International. I did most of my Christmas shopping there this year.

So if you've got some time this lazy Sunday afternoon, why not head over to All Things 2 All and say hello?

Liberty Lovers Unite!

It is almost the end of the year and time for everyone to make those pesky "New Year's Resolutions." For those who want one a little different than your usual "lose weight," "drink less than a 6-pack a day." or other such trite resolutions, I'd like to suggest one to you.

I'd like to suggest a New Year's Resolution that will help everyone. It will help freedom and liberty. And it will help you be free. It will help you keep more of the money you work for and earn. It will unite you with a group of people who honestly want liberty and freedom. Would you make this New Year's Resolution with me?

I will move to New Hampshire by 12/31/2008 where I will work to bring about a society in which government’s maximum role is protecting life, liberty, and property but only if 999 other liberty minded individuals will too.

As of this writing, 942 other people have made that pledge. 942 other people are willing to move to New Hampshire to gather a concentration of liberty activists on one place. Over 400 people have already moved and they are already having a HUGE effect on the local scene, advancing freedom like nowhere else on earth.

Wherever you live, freedom is very likely retreating. Across the country, freedoms are being reduced all the time. People are being punished for success and governments are taking more and more from people. In the Free State, this is not the case.

However, this pledge ends in one more day. There's just one day left to attempt to collect the remaining names to be part of that "First 1000" people who agree to move and advance liberty and freedom for all. Won't you consider being a part of it?

Saddam Hussein

Today marks the day in which a great evil was extinguished from this earth. This monster was personally responsible for over 100,000 deaths. He was a horrible creature -- one who fell into the trap of sinful ways and he continued his path of death and destruction until he was forcibly stopped by forces of good: The United States Military. Who will forget the day he was found hiding in a "spider hole?"

But strangely enough, this brutal dictator, this vicious killer of thousands, rates as less of a villain than United States President George Bush. Amazingly, a full FORTY-THREE percent (43%) of Democrats actually believe that President George Bush, the person who is responsible for removing this brutal murderer from power, is actually WORSE of a villain than Saddam Hussein, or even Osama bin Laden.

Can there be any doubt of the utter insanity of the Democrat Party? Are there any of you good readers out there who actually believe that President George Bush is WORSE than Saddam Hussein? What possible reasoning could there be? How insane and disconnected from reality must one's mind be to actually honestly believe that a president of the United States is worse than Saddam? Sure, I really disliked Clinton as President, but there's no way I'd ever rate him as worse than a mass-murdering dictator!

If you're thinking that Bush is worse, check out INDC Journal's pictures from a museum in Kuwuit designed to let people not forget this monster of a man. Feel free to check out Rick Moran's rather serious take and review on the demon that was Saddam Hussein. Michelle Malkin also has a huge link round-up of blogger reaction.

But the bottom line is that this monster will no longer exist on this world. He might claim that's he going to see 72 virgins, but he's going to be quite surprised by the reception he receives in hell. Should we rejoice at his death? Why not? He was indeed horribly evil. How is this world without him? Only better. He brutally murdered a hundred thousand people. It is justice that he should die as well.

Let's celebrate with some music videos, shall we?

Bomb Saddam
Die Terrorists, Die

North Carolina Taxes

Good people of North Carolina, please take note of the current actions and movements in politics, even while the Democrat legislature is not even in session.

Up until now, North Carolina has had it's power very centrally located. The General Assembly basically has to power to do quite literally anything -- and yes, that's literally anything because they honestly do not care about minor inconveniences like the Constitution. The towns, cities, and counties have been very, very limited in their power. In fact, in order for a city to do just about anything, they have to ask the Democrat General Assembly for permission.

Of course this works very well to allow Democrats in NC to retain power and exercise absolute authority over all the subjects of North Carolina -- if a county happens to be Republican and ask for freedom, the General Assembly is quick to turn them down. If a county is Democrat and asks for things like more power for regulation or more taxes, the Democrat General Assembly (Democrat due ONLY to gerrymandering) is more than happy to advance their socialist agenda throughout the state using their proxies, "elected" officials across the state.

There's a bill, HB1142, that was introduced in 2005 that is likely to appear again now that Democrats have a larger majority (due to blatant gerrymandering) in the legislature. That bill will raise taxes in any county that wants to -- a 1% increase in sales taxes. And oh, if your county doesn't want those taxes, they will get punished by getting less money from the lottery proceeds, and for reimbursements from the state. In other words, this bill will strong-arm counties into raising the sales tax 1%.

At the same time, there's another bill, HB1062, that will give counties the "authority" to levy a "transfer tax." For those of you not familiar with this type of tax, it is you being forced to ask permission from the government to sell your house -- or any other property that they want to apply this tax to. And it won't matter how much your house is worth, nor how much you paid for it. So if, for example, you're in trouble and need to sell your house. If you can just pay off the mortgage and the Realtor fees now, you're in for a surprise. You might have to pay an additional few thousand dollars to the government -- EVEN IF YOU'RE LOSING MONEY. That's right, if you paid $150,000 for your house and you're selling it for $125,000, you'd STILL get stuck with a tax of up to $3,750 that you'd have to pay.

And the counties would be free to raise that tax any time they wanted. If you wanted to leave your house to your children, you'd pay the tax. If you wanted to gift a house to a relative, you'd pay the tax. It's also referred to as a "land transfer tax" -- and it's horrible because it's relatively hidden. You won't see it until you sell the house. You can be sure Charlotte is watching this one closely, because if one county gets that ability, Charlotte will absolutely do ANYTHING to get that tax -- the Lords over Charlotte simply cannot stand that people are free to move about (and out of) their county without asking permission.

And yes, the poor will be the hardest hit. They would be forced to pay that tax as well any time they wanted to buy or sell a house. It would make it MORE difficult for the "poor" to move up into the middle class because ALL houses would be just that much more expensive. So much for the Democrats being for the "poor."

Some of you may be wondering the source behind this recent push for total crushing of freedom, raising taxes, and trying to keep the poor in their place. That would be the socialist from Chatham County, the "Chatham Coalition," led by Jeffery Starkweather. And he's got the support of the Chatham County commissioners and their representative, Joe Hackney, who wants to be Speaker of the (Corrupt) House.

Now, look, I believe in freedom. I want people to make their own choices. Currently in the North Carolina Legislature, that's NOT possible. This isn't whining about election results, this is stating facts: more than half of people who voted in November voted for Republicans in both the NC House and NC Senate. However, both houses are Democrat majorities. That's gerrymandering, plain and simple. But the Democrats do not care, as long as they're in power.

If the people of Chatham County want massive tax increases, they should be able to have them. But they shouldn't force ME to have tax increases, because I don't want them. And if Chatham County wants to be socialist, let them do it with their OWN money, not mine, and not the state of North Carolina's.

But Socialism fails everywhere it's tried and every time it's tried. The only way the Democrats of Chatham County and North Carolina can continue to succeed is to keep taking from those who produce and ram socialism down the throats of people who don't want it and continue to vote against it.

No, there's currently no hope for freedom in North Carolina. Not as long as Democrats continue to cheat, steal, and gerrymander their way into power.

The New Layout

Well here it is, the new layout for the new year. It's been way too long since there's been a layout change, so here it is. Actually, there's not a huge amount of changes with the one big exception that you've already noticed -- no post text on the front page.

Now I know, some people will absolutely hate it because you have to click to read the story. If you're reading this on a web browser, you're clicking all the time, anyway! But I think Harvey drinks beer while he reads, so he doesn't like to click often or something.

Anyway, here it is, feel free to leave comments on what you like or don't like. I've been using it for a week now, and I'm starting to like it, so it's going to stay around at least for a little while.

As of this writing, it's not 100% complete, but it's almost there. I'm working on two other layouts that will automatically appear if you're using a narrow screen; and a different one if you're reading on a cell phone or PDA. Those should be ready by Jan 1st, as should an extra different layout in case some of you people want to print any of the pages.

I've also added Haloscan trackbacks (in case you didn't notice). The mu.nu server was really getting blasted by trackback spam, so those haven't been working for quite some time. So even though they're not inline, at least you can use them and I can see when others are writing about things I'm writing about. I promise to visit each and every site that leaves a (non-spam) trackback.

So, enjoy, and let me know what you think. As always, it's subject to change whenever I get tired of the same layout! And thank you for stopping by and reading.
