Governor-Elect of MA is Furious

In case you missed it, the governor-elect of MA is furious. Why? Well, according to reports, he's mad that discrimination might be inserted into the constitution. He spend time meeting with the leaders of the MA House and Senate, urging them to not vote on the issue. But they voted anyone, and the governor-elect is mad.

What's the issue? Well, being MA, it's either taxes or gays. This time it's gays.

You see, the vote was basically ordered by the MA Supreme Court. The Court pretty much told the legislature that they had to vote. I'm rather surprised this time that the Court didn't also tell them the way to vote, since the MA Supreme Court apparently has to power to make laws, enforce laws, and interpret laws (well, they do, whether they have the power to or not).

In this case over 170,000 people in the fiefdom state of MA had sent a petition to the government, asking them to change the Constitution. The governor elect didn't like that. The governor-elect thought that he was the only one with power in the state. He was really annoyed that the peons people might actually have some say in the laws. So he tried to stop the vote.

What WAS the vote? Oh, the vote was to allow the people to vote on a Constitutional Amendment. Yes, the person that the moron people of MA just elected to be their chief executive was angry that the serfs people might change the laws of the state. The governor-elect is mad that the people of the state of MA might actually have SOME say in their government! That's why he's mad -- not because of the content of the law, but because he doesn't want to allow any power to be anywhere but in him and other politicians.

And you wonder why it's referred to as the Socialist State.

** Update: Thanks to Raven -- she points out that the Boston Globe, paper of the socialist party, is just as furious. They're actually complaining that the people want to change the Constitution. They even go so far as to claim that the people have absolutely NO RIGHT to be able to change the laws under which they live. Seriously.

The even go further, saying

the new Legislature ... must consider whether this is an appropriate issue to put to the voters

In other words, the people are too stupid to govern themselves. That's a really horrible stance to take in a state that was once a bastion of freedom (well, over 200 years ago). The Boston Globe has now openly declared that a representative republic is bad and they only support total socialism.

Oh, how I yearn for freedom!

** Update2: Mass Backwards adds more and more.

1 It's really sad that the peasants of the People's Republic of MA don't know they have rights...and would just as soon give them up then become more involved. I wonder how many of them gave up, yrs ago= and don't bother.

Keep tabs on this story. It isn't over yet. Far from it.
For a government to say it knows whats best for the people it represents, in spite of what the people have spoken up for, is criminal.

Posted by: Raven at January 03, 2007 04:55 PM (s6SBy)

2 It's criminal in a free society -- it's normal in a socialist government.

Posted by: Ogre at January 03, 2007 05:05 PM (EsWss)

3 Stupid peasants...they know no other way. Darn it's frustrating to watch a state government control it's people so much!

Posted by: Raven at January 03, 2007 05:20 PM (s6SBy)

4 Unfortunately, if the government has obtained this much control, it's doubtful the peasants even have a chance any more, to take it back without extreme violence. And it's even more unlikely that the current nanny-state peasants have the guts to use violence to obtain their rights. They're just happy to pay their oppressive taxes knowing they'll be taken care of. And heck, the rest of the country is sending piles of cash there, so they can continue being socialist.

5 I got an email from a liberal freak friend who lives in MA...she said this:

"It's not fair for the people- the majority- to be able to petition the state to change a law that protects the rights of the minority."

!!!!

6 Raven, sadly your friend is really stuppppppiiiid.

7 It's not fair that stupid people are allowed to breed, either, but you don't see me complaining, do you?

Posted by: Ogre at January 04, 2007 02:21 PM (EsWss)

8 Well, the vote was taken, and the petition was advanced over the objections of Gov. Patrick - BTW, did you know the person who filed the case in front of the Supreme Judicial Court to make them say if a vote had to be taken was Gov. (now Presidential Candidate) Mitt Romney?

Anyway - the way the petition process works is that it must get 50 votes (out of 200) in two successive sessions to go to the voters. THEN we can vote like 34 other states! Wheee!

What really put it over the top was a threat by the Msss. Bar Assn. to disbar legislators who are lawyers if they defied the SJC, and a FEDERAL suit claiming that the Legislature was violating the 14th amendment right to vote. They were named as INDIVIDUALS, so the Atty. General couldn't defend them, and they'd have to pay for their own counsel.

I've blogged about this quite a bit, and you can always check in on my blog as this saga continues - it's in the FIFTH year now, as the legislators try to decide if the people who put THEM in office are bright enough to be trusted to vote on this issue!

9 Thanks for the updates, Peter!

I've been watching this one over the years, but I've not seen anyone SO angry over actually allowing people of the state to vote on their own laws. I mean sure, the vast majority of politicians absolutely HATE when people have their say, but usually they're not so blatant about their hatred and utter contempt for voters.

What scares me most is that this moron elitist just won a statewide election. But I'm guessing that's mostly just because he had a letter "D" after his name...

10 We had a sixteen year run - a GOP governor since 1990. In fact, our LAST Democrat governor was Mike Dukakis! NOW - no Governor, and 170 of 200 legislators are Democrats.

It's a scary place right now - my only hope is that Deval Patrick, formerly of Bill Clinton's Justice Dept., will drive the state off a cliff as fast as I thing he will.

Posted by: Peter Porcupine at January 07, 2007 01:11 AM (/+yrJ)

11 I'm hoping they'll just try and actually implement the Democrat platform. Then the state will simply collapse in on itself. Sorry, Peter.

12 We have all observed them. The huge guys in the gym, lifting huge stacks of plates and grunting and sweating like their head is about to explode. Their arms are busting out of their shirts and their legs seem like they belong to a horse-a muscular horse. Who would like to look like that? This is among the main reasons that many people, although they want to lost weight and appear great, refuse to lift weights. They are scared that obtaining the heavy iron will turn them into hulking behemoths that can't put their hands down by their aspect. Nothing could be further from your truth.

Lifting weights is not going to turn you into the bodybuilder overnight. Getting the type of muscle you see upon those big boys within the gym takes years (10-15) associated with work, incredibly long workouts, and sometimes, a little -help- from the not so natural source-if you receive my drift. For the majority of us, adding weight training into our exercise regimen will do exactly everything we want it to. Weight training will assist in your weight loss, get in shape, and look better at the seaside. You see, for every ounce of muscle a person build, your body will speed up its own internal fat loss process. The more muscle mass Pull Up Bars you build, the more fat you had been burn. Now, muscle DOES weigh more than fat, but don't let that scare you. I am talking about, what do you really care about, how much you bodyweight, or what you look like with your shirt off? That is the real test if improving your physique is at the top of your priority list. Most of us just want to watch the scales and see the pounds come pouring off, but when you are regularly training with weight load, this oftentimes does certainly not happen. As you are burning fat, you are building muscle, so your weight may stay exactly the same, but your body might look drastically different. Your own clothes will fit better, the people at the office will start to look at your differently so when beach time comes, you will be the first to rip off your shirt!

So, how do you get started with a good weight training course? The last thing you should do is hit the gym and begin blasting out arm curls with simply no idea of what you are doing. Weight training is serious business and can be very dangerous. One wrong move and you also could wind up lying in the sack for 6 months watching the body slip into worse shape than before you decide to started. A solid general guideline when beginning to work together with weights is to partner up with someone who knows the actual are doing. This might be a friend who has lots of experience or better yet, a personal trainer. A qualified personal instructor can walk you through a step-by-step process of building an effective weight training program that may help you to reach your objectives while avoiding injury along the way.

So the next time you consider lifting weights, you might not conjure a vision of a well oiled massive figure posing in tiny trunks; you might see yourself, ripped, in form, and looking fantastic because of your weight training program.
