Straight Talk: Kamala's First Solo Post-Biden Interview

joy revolutionary force.jpg

From the Daily Tech News Thread this morning:

Now that's what America needs to see more, the Real Kamala. She can't handle friendly questioning, she certainly can't handle adversarial questioning.
Posted by: San Franpsycho at September 14, 2024

I laughed at her answer to "how would you reduce prices?"

Laughter aside, it is amazing this is her first solo interview since deposing Biden

Collin Rugg:

NEW: The Trump campaign has shared Kamala Harris' entire interview that was released today, saying their "newest ad just dropped."

Brutal.

In the interview, Harris gave confusing answers to a variety of questions:

Gun Control: Harris says she *does* think America needs an "assault weapons" ban despite saying during the debate that Trump was lying when he said she wanted to ban guns.

Economy: Harris responded to a question about bringing down prices by talking about how she was raised in the middle class.

Harris on Unity: Harris said she is the unity candidate and then cited her endorsement of Dick Cheney. She said Trump is the only one who "points fingers."

From the thread:

MUST WATCH!!: Active duty military IN A WAR ZONE are SHOCKED to hear VP Kamala Harris claim they’re NOT in a war zone! One soldier asks, “Where the F*** are we right now?”

Does anything stand out to you from her interview?

Yesterday, Matthew Continetti wrote that practically everybody connected to Washington thought that Kamala had won the debate. But maybe not everybody outside the beltway.

For my sins, I read the transcript of the debate after watching it live. Harris didn't answer a single question the moderators asked her, no matter the subject. Are Americans better off than four years ago? Why did the Biden-Harris administration wait three and a half years to address the border crisis? Why exactly has Harris junked her socialist policies from four years ago? Does she support a single restriction on abortion? OK, Trump asked the last one. The ABC anchors didn't follow up.

This is The Atlantic's cover for October.

atlantic oct halloween.jfif

Some of the thoughts Walter Kirn had. There are others in the twitter thread.

So Trump is winning, you're telling us

And he's probably unstoppable, as there is no visible opposing force

And the parted waters before him mean heaven is with him?

And the light is set to break through when he arrives?

Iconography

The Atlantic initially said that this cover may have been the first in its history to be published without a headline or typography. After criticism for their laziness in failing to look through their archives, this is what it says now:

On the cover: The illustrator Justin Metz borrowed the visual language of old Ray Bradbury and Stephen King paperbacks to portray a circus wagon on its ominous approach to a defiled Capitol. Something Wicked This Way Comes, Bradbury’s 1962 masterpiece, was a particular inspiration. Over the course of The Atlantic's 167-year history, only very rarely have we published a cover without a headline or typography.

Do they think Trump is unstoppable even though they hate him?

* * * * *

Mischief is important.

I'm moving the update on last week's thread up a little higher, because nobody ever asks Kamala about free speech or related topics. Also, Eric Weinstein, no fan of Trump, thinks that Kamala's cackling, talking to people like they are in kindergarten, etc. have been affectations to keep people from focusing on Kamala's true positions and danger (as a Marxist, basically). Notice that those have decreased recently? How about the regional accents?

Last week's thread, September 7, The "rules-based international order" vs. free speech?

Comments are closed so you won't ban yourself by trying to comment on a week-old thread. But don't try it anyway.

Update:

Stacy McCain also posted a piece on that three-and-a-half hour Chris Williamson interview of Eric Weinstein last Saturday. It came up in his Google algorithm.

He includes a link on the Weinstein family history of "Rebellion against the Empire of Woke". Plus a 10-minute clip about Big Tech trying to influence the 2024 presidential election. Google gets special attention. This is the same Google whose algorithm recommended the interview to McCain. Hmmmm.

Chris Williamson's opening statistics and commentary for this segment (leading to further conversation) are quite striking, and critical of Google.

In this clip, Weinstein also discusses control of the media "You're in the magic show, baby" (7 minutes) and says that "responsible conspiracy theorizing is very much an adult activity". You'll have to watch it yourself for the details.

This is a different clip than the 16-minute clip I posted last week, introducing the topic of the "rules-based international order", which Weinstein seems to revisit below.

Monday before the debate, Eric Weinstein spoke at length with Piers Morgan. Kamala has become a meme of a meme of a meme.

Tuesday, before the debate:

Eric Weinstein with some further details:

A lot of Kamala supporting skeptics are asking me what I mean by “Donald Trump may not be allowed to become president again” in 2024

I think I am going to use this opportunity to show you why many sceptics, debunkers and educated people who reflexively and derisively target others as conspiracy theorists, are rapidly losing *everyone* smart and independent. Here goes:

I am suggesting that the 2024 election may be “Saved”. I am suggesting that our U.S. democracy may be “Fortified” between now and November. That right now there is a “conspiracy unfolding behind the scenes”. I am suggesting that Americans may be saved from “Russian electoral interference” by an “informal alliance” involving tech “business titans”.

I am suggesting that the possibility of “a vast, cross-partisan campaign” representing an “an extraordinary shadow effort” hidden, against all odds, from public view by complicict journalists who make sure not to write stories about it and editors who spike any remaining stories that mention it until after the election.

In short I am suggesting that there is right now a massive “conspiracy unfolding behind the scenes”. That “shadow campaigners” are secretly engaged in work that has “touched every aspect of the election” despite the lack of any stories from complicit mainstream news desks.

So what has all this to do with the army of insufferable character-assassins clothed as skeptics who laugh and laugh and laugh at conspiracy theorists?

Well, the conspirators confessed to the above after the 2020 election cycle. That is, it is those actually running cover for conspiracies that most aggressively label and smear those trying to piece together the shadow efforts as “conspiracy theorists”. Imagine a world so perverse where *correctly* labeling an actual conspirator is turned into an act of reputational self destruction even though the conspirators will later confess and brag about the whole thing while taking open victory laps.

Genius no? Diabolical genius, is still genius.

If that sounds far fetched, pathological, improbable, and diabolical to you, welcome to the club. It does to me too. But THAT *IS* WHAT HAPPENED exactly back in 2020.

The conspirators still aren’t really telling the truth. But what they *admit* to while bragging and taking victory laps is jaw dropping all the same.

Don’t believe it? Read the confession

The problem is that they don't control X - which I'm sure will be quickly remedied after the election if they keep power.

BTW, there are Americans farther away from Earth now than any humans have been in fifty years - a superb technological achievement.

Scott Adams:

I’m revising my debate scoring. My first impression was a tie, which I called a Harris victory.

But the only thing I recall about the debate today is “They’re eating the dogs.”

Visual. Scary. Viral. Memorable. Repeatable. And directionally correct in terms of unchecked immigration risk.

It’s the strongest play of the election.

Trump won the debate.

I gotta stop underestimating his game. Trump had no base hits in the debate but his long ball is still rising. Incredible.

38 In my most fevered thoughts, I begin to believe nothing about this election is about an actual election. That it is and will be an unfolding, at which time the true nature of our oppressors will be revealed.

Then part of me thinks that would be too satisfying, to finally see them admit it, so even the straights will see it. I expect, after this election, the straights will still not see the true nature of the evil that rots our Capitol.

I don't believe a Trump win or a Trump loss will make much difference. They are marching on, making progress, moving us toward... whatever it is they seek, and elections don't much matter, even as they try to cheat and lie and fool and fight to win them.

Unless of course Ukraine uses Blinken's missiles to hit Moscow before the election.

I do think Tucker, had he been accepted into the CIA, would be happy to be part of the apparatus. That he wasn't is obviously crucial to his development as a human being.

The best thing I'll say about Tucker is that I believe he is sincere. I know he infuriates some people, but that seems to be in part because he's willing to follow a path that he believes in, and occasionally recognize and admit when he's been wrong. That last part is VERY hard for a lot of people to do, and he not only does it willingly, but appears to believe it's one of the most necessary aspects of being a morally decent human being.

This is a valid concern, but I think a lot of it hinges on whether it is a combined force in opposition to Trump, or various factions vying for positions of power and survival.

I misremember from the book Dune, but early on he talks about court intrigue, and describes men drowning in the sea, often showing bruises on their shoulders from their shipmates trying to climb them to reach the surface in their panic, and that he found it unusual to see that sort of thing on dry land.

There have been rumors they might have done just that. When Jake Sullivan and Tony Blinkin were talking about allowing our long range missiles to be used in Russia, Pootin came out and made it clear he would consider that an escalation, and consider NATO to be actively at war with them.

Then suddenly, the Biden White House is being more demure about it, and suggesting they won't do such a thing. The question is, who stopped them? The best answer might be: Military Brass.

74 The best thing I'll say about Tucker is that I believe he is sincere.

People who have been accepted into such things often find that what they actually wound up with is not what they thought it was. The realization is a slow one, and it grinds away. You start making coping statements about how what you are doing is important, and you are doing your best, or you are shielding as best you can to make things better.

and sometimes people just walk away. It takes a lot, and it really takes a personal crisis of some sort to junk a pension and a safe berth. It might take balls, and it usually takes a realization that the consequences of doing so are less than continuing to work.

Putin has made it absolutely clear that a red line will be crossed if NATO weapons are used to strike deep into Russia (as opposed to the somewhat ineffective Ukrainian drones).

His credibility is on the line - I don't think that more of the same in Ukraine would be a sufficient response.

They've even done this stupid incursion into Russian territory in Kursk oblast.

The war hawks, from Zelensky on down, have said that since the Russians didn't use nukes in response to the minor Kursk incursion, this means that the Russians won't use nukes under any circumstances.

--------
I saw the name "Storm Shadow" used to describe the missiles Blinken says will be offered to Ukraine. They've used this weapon before; on Russian ships in Sevastopol, a naval base.

The "Storm Shadow" ALCM's have roughly a 175 mile range. The closest point in Ukraine for an aircraft to launch one is about 300 miles from Moscow. Unless the Ukrainian Air Force is willing to risk anti-air defenses along the axis of attack.

Those missiles won't be used to hit Moscow. They'll be used to hit Russian installations in occupied Ukrainian territory and the Crimea.

And they're British missiles, not American. (But do have American developed sensors.)

YMMV

Campaigning even in red states helps down ballot races. Maybe it would help break the supermajority in both Florida and Texas. That would check the growing fascism in our states.

98 Nothing stays the same. Comparing 2016 with now is not a good comparison. Even 2020 doesn't work.

We just lived through back to back administrations, Trump and the establishment, and the contrast couldn't be more glaring. It has changed a lot of people's affiliations and exposed a whole lot more.

We got Elon, RFK Jr and Tulsi in exchange for Kinzinger, Dick and Liz Cheney. The Republican Party has been completely transformed into a party of the average American increasingly across all demographics. The left is losing their grip on their censorship apparatus including a huge document drop yesterday detailing the US government collusion with the UK and other foreign governments to censor improper thoughts. And the economy, inflation and mass immigration is changing a lot of people.

Nothing ever stays the same. Lots of people are waking up and the tyrants are losing their grip. Took us decades to get to this place, we aren't getting out of it overnight.

That's what Sullivan and Blinkin are banking on.

Pootin is not Erdogan. At some point, if it makes sense to him, he WILL blow up the world. Why wouldn't he. If we keep talking about how he can't be allowed to win, and actually stumble toward something that would actually cause his nation to be fundamentally harmed, he's not going to preside over the destruction of Russia.

We say he can't be allowed to win. He's saying they won't let Russia lose. Who is going to give? Someone has to. Or the booms will happen, eventually.

Posted by: BurtTC at September 14, 2024 12:10 PM (Bjh3g)

104 Nah. The very first Uke hit inside Russia caused quite a (brief) hubub in Russia, including the general staff spokesman, on TV, announcing that any further such attacks would be met by "decisive strikes against centers of decision-making" in Ukeistan. Nothing happened. And Uke strikes in Russia increased/"escalated" far, far beyond the case in question.

But as Martini Farmer pointed out, Storm Shadow is the longest-legged system in question, and it has already been used many times, and its range is limited.

There is not potential for any Uke strikes to alter the course of the war, nor to materially affect Russia's war-making capacity or economy. "Credibility" is not something Putin has to worry about when his forces are having their way on the main front. Predictably, the net-net of all these Uke pinprick/revenge hits has been to broaden and intensify Russian support for the war.

While there were a couple of hints that it might be an anti-Trump ad, it wasn’t until the end that I was sure. Because for the most part it was the epitome of “you don’t have to sell me on him, I’m already going to vote for him.”

My hope is that whatever base the missiles were fired from would be hit with a small 'theater' level nuclear device and it would be captured on video for the world to see the immediate destruction caused by even a small nuclear device. Hopefully we can then put the nuclear genie back in the bottle for another 80 years.

If American and other Nato soldiers, who I would consider little more then mercenaries involved in an undeclared war and unable to see their actions could result in near total destruction of their own country get vaporized? That's gonna be a tough one.

Nah, they're pouring roughly $1 billion into beating Trump. They doing their best to rig things which was obvious by the debate. They just have nothing to work with.

What is going on in Ukraine is not an accident or Putin doing something shocking. They are taking us to the edge of WWIII for a reason and they know full well if Trump gets in office that ends. They've spent $200 billion on it so far and they will spend whatever they think it will take.

At the very least they created the conditions for Trump to be assassinated. They will try other stuff between now and Election Day. Will they keep trying to undermine Trump if he wins? You betcha. But that's not the same as them being ambivalent about who wins. They absolutely do not want Trump back in the White House.

Don't forget, this is not just our domestic establishment. This is a worldwide push to install globalists across all western countries.

109 I play a wargame simulation frequently. The Russian - Ukrainian war has been modeled six ways from Sunday in that sim. It's mostly geared towards tactical air and naval forces, not ground. The number of scenarios with Russia and Ukraine/US/UK/NATO is in the hundreds. Some make believe, some based on reality.

Hitting Moscow with anything other than suicide drones, is, well, suicide.

Unless you're willing to give Ukraine ballistic missiles with range. Missiles that would, at launch, be indistinguishable from nuclear tipped missiles by the Russians. Which would be really bad.

This should end her run...if we were a sane culture.

She and Biden intentionally raised prices, both because ideologically they want the middle/working class standard of living reduced to save Gaia, and because they see government as a way to loot the taxpayers and pay off their clients.

129 In Ukraine, the Russians are engaged in a fairly significant offensive in the Kursk region (East Ukraine.)

They are having a fair amount of success.

The "fighting season" over there (before winter makes movement difficult) will be coming to a close soon.

There's potential for this to drag out well into a Trump presidency if neither side is willing to chill out. If Trump bails on lil' Z and hangs him out to dry I'd bet Putin goes all in and reclaims what he originally intended to. And only then calls for peace.

NATO ain't going to do shit about that.

I have a theory that Putin is using Pavel Durov - the ceo of Telegram -- as a go between to Macron. There is no other reason, besides paying his aircrew to kidnap him, to go from Central Asia to anywhere but France to refuel. The Russian Orthodox Church is traditionally said to have been founded by Andrew the Apostle, who is thought to have visited Scythia and Greek colonies along the northern coast of the Black Sea. If you're referring to those "Storm Shadow" ALCM's they are not nuclear capable. And ALCM = air launched cruise missile. They might have some sort of ground launch capability, but at the loss of range.

They're really suited for attacking ships and stationary ground installations. With enough of them, maybe something like a refinery. But it'd take dozens, if not more to "destroy" it.

194 " As the numbers dribbled out, he (Podhorzer) could tell that as long as all the votes were counted, Trump would lose."

The whole long article seems framed as "we knew we had the mail-in vote, and Trump was trying to steal the election." They frame every move by Trump was an attack on Democracy, and they (the brave Dems) saved the day, saved the pure election.

Of course it is at Time magazine, so no surprise. But it was a sort of confession of how much effort was put into "fortifying the election", and censoring "misinformation" (like Hunter laptop, Joe the big guy, but that doesn't get mentioned).

Also no mention of why they covered up the windows, or of the video of ballots run through more than once, nor any of the other frauds. It was all perfectly pure, and Trump was plotting to overturn his loss.

195 It's not just American policy. The globalist, EU media narrative has already started. Putin makes a red line statement and does nothing when that line is crossed. This time his UN ambassador went in front of the Security council and reiterated that statement. They aren't mentioning that.

Many here have read Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, and once he returned (perhaps before, tough to determine exactly) to Russia he became a major proponent of Russian nationalism and the Russian Orthodox religion. He favored a reunification of Russia and Ukraine. Putin read of his writings on the topic and I wish I could find them. I am certain it influences Putin's decisions on matters related to Kiev.

The funniest was early days, I'm 10 at first boarding school at a breakfast were we were served fried bananas, after a bowl of porridge. They either had sprinkled sugar or cinnamon I don't remember which but I took one taste and the fried oily taste turned my stomach so I left it. As we were leaving the dining-hall a sneak told the teacher in charge who called me back and had me sit down and eat it. After I had finished it with difficulty, he had me stand as he gave me a lecture on not wasting food. At that moment I promptly upchucked all over his highly polished brown shoes (see I remember that detail). I was never again bothered about leaving food in my plate.

As to the Q is she tough enough, Edwards (now with the Aspen Institute) wrote in part, "I've known Harris for nearly 20 years. I brought her, as young DA into a program where she engaged in bipartisan conversations with other elected officials about everything...

"I traveled with her for meetings with top political, military, business, and civic leaders in China, India, Egypt, Israel, and Jordan, and with Arab leaders in Ramallah and Amman. ..."

(How? When? Edwards left Congress 1993. Harris was DA of SF 2003-2010; 7 yrs). Then elected CA AG 2010, reelected 2014 and elected to US Senate 2017; another 7 years)

"Harris, in Congress, knew how to work across the aisle; Trump seems members of another party as...enemies. ..."

295 I don't believe a Trump win or a Trump loss will make much difference.

I think this is essentially true in a big-picture sense. We're in the late Roman republic stage of our existence, where republican institutions no longer function and we are effectively an empire in denial. No man is going to change that; only a cataclysm will. But there is a very big difference between Rome's good emperors and the bad ones. So too here.

I appreciate the sentiment - but - I think you are wrong.

Certain things are going to change because the deep state has limited assets to use domestically. Independents are running away from Harris. So without cheating, the race is already over. Big money has decided to take on the international deep state - so we have a billionaire fight going on.

I fully expect if Harris were to manage a win by you know what, half the states will actively begin nullification proceedings. The military cannot even make recruitment targets right now. The Guard dwarfs it. So there will not be a bullet exchange. The feds are in trouble. And the big blue urban centers will be pressuredin any purple state.
