Poor Joy Reid had to diversify her conspiracy theories because of the assassination attempt

Project 2025 before the assassination attempt on Trump

One of the people who shows up regularly on my social media timeline is a gay man who is absolutely obsessed with Project 2025. He's not totally insane about politics, but he has gone off the deep end about this. I think it was the day before the assassination attempt on Donald Trump that he reassured his friends that Joy Reid would be doing an hour-long analysis of Project 2025 on MSNBC the following Monday (the day that the RNC Convention started).

Alas, it was not to be. There were shake-ups in the MSNBC scheduling. Morning Joe was pulled. Joy Reid ended up on a panel of MSNBC "analysts" in front of a projected image of the RNC Convention.

Consequently, one of the friends of my alarmist social media "friend" mourned in a later comment to him:

Just when Project 2025 was beginning to be exposed, the assassination attempt diverted the spotlight away from it.

You would think that they would have started exposing it in January when it was published, but squirrel! At one point, Joy Reid was reduced to Ear Trutherism, which also spread to more "respectable" press representatives.

And from the Daily Mail:

Joy Reid was accused of 'next level desperation' after suggesting that Joe Biden's brush with Covid is as heroic as Donald Trump's defiance in the face of an assassin's bullet.
The MSNBC host was speaking from the Republican National Convention as news broke that the president had cancelled a speech in Las Vegas after testing positive for Covid.
The liberal anchor dismissed the attack on Trump as a 'photo-op', and seemed dismayed at the contrast drawn by delegates between the president's frailty and his challenger's vigorous response to being shot.
'Should he (Biden) be fine in a couple of days, doesn't that convey exactly the same thing?' she demanded.

So, did Biden get better in two days?

This is so difficult for certain people on the left. Here's an example of a social media image of Project 2025 after the assassination attempt:

There is talk among some of these folks of moving abroad if Trump wins, because they think they would be in danger. Iceland (the best place to ride out WW III) and Costa Rica are favorably mentioned.

The image at the top of the post is from Brad Polumbo. I found it in a post by Ed Driscoll which summarizes the hypocrisy between the initial responses of Democrats to the assassination attempt and their earlier rhetoric.

Of course, Joy Reid was among those quoted:

Another MSNBC anchor, Joy Reid, recently described a second Trump term as “Hitler in the White House.”

The softening of rhetoric is not lasting. It is changing, though, sometimes substituting "Project 2025" for the "3rd Reich".

What seems to have happened during the week of the convention is that (instead of analyzing actual text from Project 2025), anything that anyone says that bears some resemblance to something in Project 2025 is called PROJECT 2025. And anyone who has met someone at the Heritage Foundation, or any of the other groups involved, is tarred by association.

But the new hysteria centers around J.D. Vance, who is seen as the man who will implement Project 2025, especially the gutting of government agencies and replacement of mid-level Obama loyalists with new personnel, some of whom have been identified through Project 2025.

Of course, no one on the left now mentions that Obama did something very similar when he came into the White House. This is interesting:

My social media "friend" suggested that J.D. Vance will not be successful in replacing Deep State appointees because there are not enough "smart conservatives" to fill the positions.

But he suggests that if they just cut government agencies instead, that will be just as disastrous.

Some conservatives are worried that Vance will maintain more "big government" than they would like, "using the left's tools against them".

Here's something that worries the left:

It does not seem that the authors of the various sections of the document demonized by Reid were asked to comment.

I wonder if Joy Reid has noticed any instances of our current DOJ being used as an "Office of Vengeance"?

No, I was there in the 80s. Basically it was my 30s. They were NOT champions of classical education, not close. The literature they championed was Toni Morrison, not Homer. And the "free thought", that was BS rhetoric too.

This has me slightly concerned about Alabama football this year. The Washington-based coach moved practices to mornings. Yes, it's still hot because it's Alabama, but practicing in the afternoon means you're never surprised because it's oppressive, brutal, you-might-die heat/humidity. There's really good reasons to become accustomed to those conditions.

So when I try to use another computer, I am like what is this 2 button mouse thing? Theoretically, you might even consider that Biden is pretty much working for Trump. Can you imagine an opponent who meets Trump's needs who would be better? Who is more inept? Who is more corrupt? Life IS precious. Every birth is a blessing. We should hold that in our hearts and we should exhibit this in our lives. We should not be afraid to share how we feel, we should not be stopped from telling a scared 20 year old pregnant girl that baby IS going to change her life, she is about to feel a love so immense, no one can describe it. We also need to understand we have a document that drives how our country is governed. This is a states rights issue. We need to leave it there, and we need to work and advocate for state law changes to align with our views. It’s not easy, it won’t be easy. It won’t happen over night. It’s one step at a time.

2. Social security. SS needs to be phased out over the next 30 years. Reduced bennies (to zero), depending on age today. Current retirees get what they get. I graduated from a better engineering school (I didn't know Robert Morris even had one) with a 4 year degree when I was 21, so I'm not all that impressed, but I see your point. I never thought much of the guys who went to a community college first, but I guess sometimes you could save a lot of money that way. You get the same degree, but not really the same education.

(1) OK, so supposedly some "Trump people" were involved in Project 2025. I'm supposed to believe all those NeverTrumper orgs have genuinely changed their spots? Trump has pretty much disavowed this stuff. I'm skeptical, and you haven't made much of a case.

(2) I wouldn't say I was "wrong" about Crooks' education, either. You said he was an "honors student in engineering", when he was actually - according to you - a high school honors student (which is like the top third of the class these days), and an engineering student who went to junior college, and was about to enter a real college. So you're the one who was actually being corrected.

As far as being "VERY bright", you don't have to be especially smart to have those things on your resume, either. his guy wasn't exactly MIT material.

I saw an enlightening, and VERY irreverent, interview on the Hodge twins Rumble channel. A YouTuber calling herself "JustPearlyThings", reporting on such things. One surprising claim was that if "side pieces" were outlawed, that women would be the first to complain. Apparently, yes - most women see a fraction of the male population a desirable, and are OK with playing second fiddle (not having such a male to herself). Again, it's not really making anybody happy, and it's being talked about, so maybe it will be countered.
