Meet The PetMorons

Sarah bn fren.jpg

Glamor shot of Buddy and Sarah

2 of the funniest and sweetest dogs you will meet.

Sarah is the little dog, born 20March23 and currently weighs 23 lbs.

29% chihuahua, 22% American pittie/staffordshire Terrier, 14% chow, 8% German Shepherd + 9 more.

She is a perpetual motion machine that is like a ballistic missile. She wears out Buddy, the 90 lb. Staffordshire/boxer mix. She even picks on him/dominates him when he gets tired of playing. Her favorite game is tug o war.

Bonecrusher

Bonecrusher also sent in a little video showing Sarah totally dominating Buddy, practicing some wrestling moves while Buddy is resting.

Maybe we can get it formatted sometime.

Sarah's background sounds like some of the dogs around here, many of which have a little Chow background. We've had some of those. Does she have dark markings in her mouth?

Buddy and Sarah look like great companions!

How do you say 'I have a cat' without saying 'I have a cat'? (pic of toys found under a chair)

Cat on the lap pic is Sophie. Since Sophie is actually a 'he', my wife has decided that it's short for Sophocles

Little fur ball is Kiki, the source of all the toys under the chair. She is absolutely confident that the only reason anyone goes to the kitchen is to get her another snack

Pet thread, hobbies and gun thread all help on the weekends. Great way to just ignore the stupidity of the world for a while

Mostly a lurker now

PMR

What endearing cats! They look loved, too. Don't be a stranger.

Well, I guess it's time to show that there are some part chow dogs around here, too. Here's a photo of Troy the Giant Dog with Little Buddy. Troy has crossed the Rainbow Bridge, but we still have Buddy, who is now our big dog.

Troy was a street dog who may have lived on a dairy. He was covered with ticks when our niece brought him home. He could scale a 6 foot fence and unlock an eight foot chain link fence to run with the street packs.

Smart dog, extremely soft fur and the second most beautiful dog eyes in the world. Half lap dog. Front half.

12 Our pregnant 'feral', temporarily known as Calico Girl has had 6 kittens, born Wednesday morning. All six seem to be doing well and are very active mainly as a pile or lined up drinking milk. Qite hilarious to watch the latecomers try and find a teat and rolling completely off, uncoordinated of course. Mum is very protective. When the rain started she got up and stood over them as an umbrella. I figure she was caught outside with a previous litter and got wet. Also when the tornado, small and didn't touch down, went over the house, she again shielded all her babies. Also she doesn't leave for long when she has to eat or take a bathroom break.
I'll post the link as there is even a short video.

14 Afternoon, Pet Folk! The fluffy tawny cat in the "Why You Should Have a Cat" video has two of the largest and darkest eyes I've ever seen on a feline. And Sophie is very handsome . . . but Kiki is the kind of cat I point to and say, "I like that cat!"

As for my own monsters: Stirling, once dubbed The Evil Black Kitten of War and Pestilence, turned two years old this past week. Still he blows around like a leaf before a wind. I do plan to run him to the vet next Saturday to have them look at the thin patches in his otherwise thick and plushy black fur. He is not scratching at those areas or licking them very much, as far as I can tell; and he's eating enthusiastically too. I wonder if it's an allergy or vitamin lack.

Dagny La Siberienne, two this month, is healthy and solid as befits her breed. She likes to bump and strop herself against me when I'm on the floor working out.

16 Lovely pets. I like Sophie being short for Sophocles. My black male cat Julius (the darling of my heart, heh) gets called "Juli" or "Juli-boy" for short. I think it sounds very manly, in an Italian sort of way.

***
Last night as I was heading to bed, Stirling was suddenly fascinated with something outside the living room window. Outside was the tortoiseshell feral who's been visiting for chow for the last few months, just sitting and looking in as if longing to visit. Naturally I put some dry food out for her. She wouldn't approach until I closed the screen door and stood still, watching. Then she slowly crept to the bowl and began to feed.

So, while it's not official and not every day, I'm feeding a third cat.

Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at March 16, 2024 04:08 PM (omVj0)

18 I had a cat with droopy tongue, he also drooled when he was happy.

A very, very dumb yet affectionate creature.

22 Cat nicknames? Arizona the big red part-Coon tabby was known as His Lordship. Marie-Antoinette was called, logically enough, The Queen. Little longhair tuxedo cat Oreo was The Princess and The Cookie Cat. Stirling gets called "Big Black" and "Buddy," and Dagny, "Baby Girl" and "Tiny."

Fortunately I'm not one to give such nicknames as actual names to cats. I prefer non-human or very dignified and unusual human names.

The colony are mostly fixed /spaded but unfortunately two unfixed strays have joined . Back in January I called the rescue group who did the first fix and release as I understand it back in 2019 and they said they would have to get permission from the home’s management again. Nothing has been done and I’m afraid that the management will eventually just ban feeding them. There are one or two Karen cat haters who live there.

25 Chekov was known now and then, affectionately, as "Tubby" (Siberians are built like whiskey barrels atop tree-trunk legs, and he was a fine example of the breed). Wolf was The Shaggy Panther.

26 Sarah the little dog had black spots on her tongue as a pup, but now the spots have grown to where about half her tongue is black. She uses this tongue to clean the big dog, Buddy's ears.

35 Troy was a good walking companion. Once we were approached by an aggressive adolescent pit bull. Troy sat on him like a mama dog disciplining a pup. Then Troy gradually backed me home and through the door as the other dog only backed off a few feet.

40 Beautiful critters today!

It's a gorgeous day on the beach, sunny and clear and 60! The beach is jammed and noisy.

I'm baking a cake for #1 son's birthday. We are going to Mass, then dinner at a semi fancy steakhouse and then my place for three layer chocolate cake.

Mmmmmmmm.

41 Our little calico kitty does not like our dog, or our now-adult kids. If they stay a few days, she'll slowly warm up.

We nicknamed her "our little ball of hate."
