Israel, Two Weeks Later


Many people in The Horde have been worried about Neal in Israel, who sends us interesting content for the Gardening Thread. I heard from him yesterday:

It's very good of you and the Horde to think of us at this time.

We are OK; and, in our immediate family, we don't have anyone in a particularly dangerous place or doing something particularly dangerous in the military. So, personally, we are in better shape than many other families in Israel.

As our daughter works in a security agency, while her husband is in the army, we are occupied every day with looking after their 4 children, including 2.5 yr old twins. It's challenging; it reminds us why it's young people who have children; but it lets us feel that we're contributing something and it keeps us from watching, reading, or listening to news all the time.

Of course, we are all shocked by what has happened - the greatest slaughter of Jews since 1945. Before the Nazi regime industrialized murder of Jews at the extermination camps, it sent Einsatzgruppen into Eastern Europe, whose task was to enter villages and towns, round up the Jews, and murder them all. The Hamas death squads which entered villages and towns along the Gaza border had the same mission, with an additional sadism multiplier. And while the Nazis had some residual moral sense which led them to seek to hide their crimes, Hamas instructed its murderers to record their crimes and circulate them on the internet.

We hope for a better, safer future after the IDF completes its mission in Gaza.

JUST WHAT WE NEED

h/t Ciampino, who also posted some other interesting news in the Tech Thread today:

US warship shot down 15 drones and four cruise missiles 'headed for Israel' during NINE-HOUR onslaught from Iranian-backed militants in Yemen

An official from the Defense Department said the drones and cruise missiles were shot down using SM-2 surface-to-air missiles.

The source added that the rockets fired by the Iran-backed Houthi militants were clearly headed for Israel.

While a US official added that they do not believe the missiles, shot down over the water, were aimed at the US warship.

The Houthi terrorist group in Yemen has signaled its intention to join the war against Israel.

The Al Tanf Garrison military base in Syria, where there are American troops present, was targeted by two drones on Wednesday.

One was destroyed while the other impacted the base following joint action by US and coalition forces.

There are some graphics in this piece which show the targets of the drones, but I only saw one depicting where Yemen was in relationship to some of the targets. Yemen is something of a concern of mine because some immigrants in our area are from Yemen, and some of them travel back and forth or send kids back and forth from time to time. Don't know which side they're on in the civil war. But their ability to travel may suggest that they are not rebels.

This about-face catches Hamas's Western allies in an awkward position. American members of groups like Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) now appear in a uniquely atrocious light. While Hamas has chosen to deny (falsely) its atrocities, thereby confirming them as atrocities, SJP and similar organizations have already accepted that Hamas's inhumane actions are true - - and celebrated them.

Interestingly, those without ties to elite institutions seem to be less inclined to have ties to Hamas.

I don't think the ones who "planned the attack" are anything other than pawns, and they likely don't much care about the backlash. Especially those that are already dead.

The people who play the long game though, today's backlash will soon be forgotten. They know that. Whatever the long game is, if it's the end of this world, or the bringing upon the Earth, the Caliphate, or just to descend on the West like locusts, consuming whatever they can for as long as they can, I think they are still on, the game plan still moves in their direction.

Another one of those things MANY Democrat voters don't know, abortions are performed all the way up to (and sometimes after) birth.

They hear "a woman's right to choose," and they picture a woman getting the "bad news" after she's missed a period or two, and think those big bad Republicans are out there trying to force her to crank one out for Jesus.

The p.r. game is so effective, if you explain to them, the concepts of survivability outside the womb, of the stages of pregnancy that involve the heart beating, the fetus feeling pain, MANY of these Democrat voters will recoil at the thought of ripping that life out.

And used up one quarter of its air-to-air missiles in doing so.

Also, several US bases in the Middle East (Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan) have come under attack, mostly by long range suicide drones. Likely built by Iran, launched by proxies elsewhere.

No retaliations for those attacks.

Yemen has been at war for... what, a decade or so now? So called rebels, and the U.S. and Saudi backed "government," with so much death and destruction that nobody talks about.

Weapons on the ground, I'm sure many we supply end up in the hands of the rebels, and others are gotten on the black market, from the usual sources.

Some of the loitering munitions seen in Ukraine stay in the air for hours, sometimes half a day before striking a target.

The USAF flies UAVs/UACVs and whatnot that can stay airborne for days.

Yeah, during one of my trips not that long ago, I went into the wrong gas station, and was told everyone must mask up.

The clerk wasn't rude about it, she suggested I use the station across the street. Which I did.

I wasn't getting gas (I was... eh... giving gas?), so I'm not sure about the price difference. It's good to know though, which stations to avoid.

Whatever her reputation is not withstanding - her legal team were pretty smart here - they forced the prosecution into a speedy trial scenario that, having limited or problematic evidence of any crime at all, were forced to make a deal quickly to save some face, any face at all. And that deal was so laugh out loud bad for them given all the hype the DA office had made prior to it - its just really more an embarrassing indictment of their case rather than Sydney Powell.

So far I've never had to deal with tribal cops. It's bad enough dealing with the state troopers, but I've discovered they generally patrol near the towns, so if you don't sufficiently slow down in their speed zones, they'll pull you over, but mostly seem to leave you alone in between.

I get that, sure. But, since Trump was not a party to her and Chesebro's so called 'misdemeanors', she can't testify against Trump on anything going forward. So, her attorneys did Trump and the other defendants a solid, really. And that was what made this plea deal so bad for the DA - it had nothing to do with their main case and they got nothing for their efforts.

Maybe Powell bad mouths Trump going forward, who knows what people do - but it will have no effect on the DA's case against Trump.

USAF tends to go for all white aircraft for trainers. Think the T-6 IIs are white/black. Red/orange is usually added for test aircraft or aerial targets.

USN goes for white with Red/orange.

I think what horrified and disgusted people of good will was the sadistic joy the Hamas terrorists displayed while they gunned-down down, burnt alive, and dismembered children.

If you accept the Hamas claim that they are guerrillas valiantly resisting Israeli oppression (they're not, but that's a different discussion), military targets and personnel would be legitimate objectives. But invading people's homes, slaughtering them and then gleefully broadcasting the "snuff films" is causing some cognitive dissonance to those inclined to believe Hamas.

I believe that is why you are seeing more people speaking out this time against the avowed supporters of Hamas. The scale of the slaughter and the barbarity has caused some people to re-evaluate their views.

It's not hard to get defendants to quit talking when faced with millions in legal expenses to defend yourself against frivolous lawsuits. In the GA RICO case, she could have fought it and it would surely cost her a few million as the DA stretched this out with unlimited resources - even if it looked like it was always going to result in some sort of defeat for the DA. But her legal team got her a quick deal that excluded Trump and others.

I read something the other day that said that because the Germans never invaded obviously, the British stashed them all in warehouses, and once the war was over, despite many of the donated guns being tagged for eventual return, loaded them in barges and dumped them at sea. The whole thing was mostly an opinion op. The average American did not see what went on in Europe as their problem as pre-WW2 the US was basically safe due to the oceans. They had no idea that science was about to change that within a decade.

My local electric utility has been hardening the system all summer. I've seen them everywhere. I suspect against an EMP attack. It's not tough to break the connection every couple of miles and dump the voltage into the ground. Harmlessly.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was done on purpose to buy China's silence on Fauci's funding of the virus. Russia also getting money I would still chalk up to incompetence, even though US does seem to have a habit of funding both sides of a conflict.

That was made so clear in that ‘ tough’ tv interview by the Arab woman. It’s all about perception . But the Hamas talking head was so possessed by demonic hatred and desire for vengeance that he couldn’t even accept that intentionally murdering babies and others is wrong. It’s all acceptable to him as collateral damage , even though there was nothing collateral about it.
