Waking up (?) in Switzerland, other snowy places and a certain sunny place.

snow swizz.jpg

Snowy scene in Switzerland

Looks peaceful, doesn't it? But also remote. There is more to Switzerland than mountain retreats and dairies.

Switzerland Resists Gender Theory

Unlike South Dakota. WeirdDave posted a link to the National Review piece on South Dakota's capture by the forces of radical transgenderism in the Thursday night ONT. Some good reporting went into this piece. If you have used your free NR articles for the month, here's a thread by the author:

This gives us a window into Kristi Noem's veto of the girl's transgender sports bill. Do we understand what happened to her now? Folding didn't keep the Jan. 6 Committee from releasing her kids' social security numbers.

When Governor @KristiNoem surprised conservatives by vetoing that bill, we looked into it. What we found was that a Sanford lobbyist named Matt McCaulley had worked with Noem's office to kill HB 1217 -- and a number of anti-gender ideology bills, too:

Biggest employer in South Dakota.

Here's an interview:

*

So, why did Switzerland resist "change"?

Swiss government rejects 3rd gender option, at least for now

I have my own theories, but I would like to learn what you think.

BERLIN (AP) -- The Swiss government on Wednesday rejected the idea of introducing a third gender option or no-gender option for official records, a position which differs from that of some neighboring countries.

Switzerland has an unusual political system in which four parties from the left to the nationalist right are represented in the government and frequent referendums are held on all kinds of issues.

In 2018, the German government approved a third gender option for official records, allowing people to be registered as "diverse." The law already allowed for gender to be left blank.

Leaving gender blank. Might be better than, say, fishgender for some folks.

Switzerland makes a lot of government decisions slowly and locally. But there is a tendency toward authoritarianism sometimes, in the sense that they want everything to run like a Swiss watch.

Sometimes you get some worrisome over-reaches, like this, from September, going Stasi on home heating.

And Switzerland is not immune from progressive weirdness. Remember that bizarre train tunnel ceremony a few years back? This is just the outdoor part.

Of course, in that case there was international cooperation.

A couple more photos as we leave Switzerland.

Snow and Glaciers in Montana

Remember those signs that said that the glaciers would all disappear from Glacier National Park by 2020? Nice take-down of some progressive posturing here.

Nothing is simple when it comes to understanding the causes of climate change impacts. The key to understanding is to look at the longest data records available, and try to interpret the causes of the historical and paleo variability. Once you understand the natural variability, you aren't so prone to attributing everything to fossil-fueled warming and making naive predictions of the future. And once you understand weather variability and extremes, you won't be so enthusiastic about renewable energy.

There is another kerfuffle regarding Jordan Peterson in Canada now, too. Talk about authoritarians. Higher Education and government out of control.

Peterson: I Will Risk My Licence To Escape Re-Education

Gad Saad, however, caves to re-education:

* * * * *

Higher Education, Florida

Not long ago, I saw this very depressing post on Higher Education. I kind of liked the Higher Education of yore:

The basic message of the talk featured above is that, despite the years of effort by Legal Insurrection and others, Higher Ed. cannot be reformed from the inside. You get the idea that this is true when you see pieces suggesting things like culling professors who aren't in lockstep with DEI.

Chris Rufo called for hope, writing about disruption by the Quiet Right.

Then Ron DeSantis REALLY disrupted things.

Rufo is an activist. He got right to work.

Flooded with requests from professors who want to work at New College of Florida.

Love this quote:

Left-wing radicals have spent the past fifty years on a "long march through the institutions."

We are going to reverse that process, starting now.

Gov. DeSantis has laid out a vision for recapturing the institutions and restoring them to American principles.

Let's do it.

10 My personal opinion is the transjenner nonsense has a short shelf life, PRECISELY because these people are bugnuts. Their insanity is their claim to status, unlike for example, skin color, religion, even sexual preference (yeah, I really don't want to hear it, being gay isn't a mental illness).

So you can fight all that directly if you want, or you can let them have their time in the spotlight. They'll show themselves for who they are, and "normal" people will reject it, along with the politicians who caved to them.

"Social conservatives run into opposition from big business “across the nation,” Woods said. “In Arkansas, their biggest opponent is Walmart. Walmart kills the social-conservative stuff. In other states, you know, it’s something else. So within our movement, we have a joke that every state has their Walmart"

Perhaps a dim light in a flickering future, the local classical music station in the Frisco Bay Area, which has gone gradually more and more "Progressive" over the last too many years, has had failures in its "customer support" business plan for a couple of years now with increased solicitating even as it takes continuing "deep dives" into deep pools of Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity.

19 A wise President could easily fill each and every Cabinet , Position, simply by hanging out here at the H.Q. and sorting from the available talent.

I'd love to head up the BATFE. And have Weasel as head of the Civilian Marksmanship Program. Why in this order?

Because after I'd testified such that Congress repealed NFA '34 and GCA '68, then Statutory Authority for the BATFE would no longer exist, Gun Dealers would not be subject to the Federal Fist, and taxing Tobacco and Alkyhaul would go back to Treasury. Then, I would be out of a job, leaving Weasel as head of the most important aspect of the Federal Firearms Field.

The arming and training of the U.S. population, at arms.

I'd also nominate Alex the Chic as the President's Press Secretary. Her flamethrower equipped Stepstool of Death wouldn't have a day off for the next eight years!

I suspect being gay really, truly is a mental illness, but no one is allowed to discuss it or research it or have any conversations about it.

Soldiers who see buddies killed in action have a mental illness that require help to get through. Cops and firefighters who see horrors develop a mental illness that requires help to get through.

Some young people who are sickeningly physically and/or mentally abused at critical times in their lives take the path of homosexuality and we need to celebrate and enable their groomers.

Old area shelled, Officer’s mess tent location hit. New area quiet. Mac Dougal, 936 [FA Bn], reported direct hit on their “eight-holer”, the only convenience they had.

Imagine the horror of having to revert to slit trenches after the relative luxury of an eight hole latrine! And it sounds like they moved the messs tent just in time to avoid a direct hit.

I think some gay guys just want to have intercourse much much more often, and without attachment. This can't be provided by most women so they go with other guys. I think that explains a lot of gay guys. I don't know if I would classify that as a mental illness except as far as the effect of grooming which you pointed out. And yes, there needs to be an effort to stop that and assess what damage is done.

As for lesbians I think that's trickier. Personally, I don't really see or understand what women find attractive in guys. I mean I understand it in theory, they'd have to find us attractive or we would not exist to the extent that it could be classified in the weak or strong categories of the anthropic principle. They must find men attractive. But I can definitely understand why women could be attracted to women and want to share love, physical intimacy, and a relationship without there being any sort of mental illness involved just based on my personal like of women

62 I suspect the gender bending in this country and perhaps the indicated rise in homosexuality (which may or not be real) is equal parts an effect of mass psychosis created by the media at large and the massive amount of chemicals we are subjected to via legal or otherwise drugs and the not insignificant presence of hormones in the water supply via birth control pills and the like. There's something happening here Mr. Stills.

I read that and was thinking on that. One of the things I like is reading memoirs. A lot of them are self serving, but they give an idea of the interpretation of the facts of the world as of when they were written. Women writing about their lives just after WWII is far different than anything written today, at that time women and men had parallel social structures that interconnected, but ran differently
Women tended to run the families and neighborhoods and the men had business and organizational networks, with both depending on each other.

Mary Bard wrote a series of memoirs of being a housewife to an MD in Seattle in the 50's, the first is The Doctor Wears Three Faces, and it is very different from what you can find today.

I've had to sit through "trainings" for the new job this week, and among the joys of such things is sitting in a conference room with people I'll never see or interact with again.

There was a young good looking gal who made it known she is pregnant, and on one of the breaks, a significantly less attractive woman, who decided she's the expert on all things motherhood, was "explaining" things to the younger gal.

She was wrong about 90% of the nonsense coming out of her mouth. Sorry, she just was. But did I say anything? Hell no, I know when to keep my mouth shut, but why the younger gal put up with it, I don't understand. I used to watch local DC news in the 2000s. At the time the newsreaders were almost entirely white. They would do political stories and Republicans were terrible and racist and trying to take away DC citizens rights by following the Constitution.

And then they would do local news. Which was almost entirely crime. And they would show the perps and victims and 100% of the perps were black while about 80% of the victims were.

When Obama was elected they made about 2/3 of the newsreaders black and then everything was awesome, except Republicans were terrible and racist. And local crime was committed by unknown perps.

What I'm seeing is fairly recent, like the past year or so, and has no relation to race or skin color. Lily-white person kills lily-white person. They show every lily-white person in the article but not the lily-white culprit. My theory is there's some legal jeopardy thing insurance companies are telling news outfits about with implied threats to drop their lawsuit liability insurance. —something like that.

I pray for the athletes, back before I hurt my right leg I was a good athlete top 3% in my region in state distance runner....

with the SVT tachycardia, athletes are probably the most finely balanced physical specimens on Earth and yes "anecodte" but every serious athelte I know has some form of minor deviance in their readings.

"Let's goose their system for shits and giggles" is not something I was in love with given how minimal the risk that particular class of specimen faced was.

They were originally planning on bestiality on the basis that it would face less opposition than pedo while still greasing the skids (and it's also very popular in Germany, allegedly), but it hit a lot of opposition (in part because they'd started it right as the first John Wick came out and a lot of people were talking about shooting anyone who hurts a dog). So they're going right for their real goal, pedo.

1 As has been reported, it will only take a single congressperson, acting in what is known as a Jeffersonian Motion, to move to remove the Speaker if he or she goes back on their word or policy agenda.

2. A “Church” style committee will be convened to look into the weaponization of the FBI and other government organizations (presumably the CIA, the subject of the original Church Committee) against the American people.

3. Term limits will be put up for a vote.

4. Bills presented to Congress will be single subject, not omnibus with all the attendant earmarks, and there will be a 72-hour minimum period to read them.

It does help to know what kind of pitch is coming, but not an enormous amount. You still have to hit the ball and that's super hard even if you know what is coming next.

As for why it was so bad? Sign stealing has always been frowned on in baseball, but its always been a part of the game. The new trick was just using phones and cameras to find out what was coming, so it was more reliable. But honestly, no worse than watching and relaying info.

I remain convinced it was MLB just pissed that a "small market" team kept being so successful.

340 As for why it was so bad? Sign stealing has always been frowned on in baseball, but its always been a part of the game...

Lots of people have been wondering if that's why Clemson has been struggling for the last couple of years since playing Ohio State and the sign-stealing publicity.

I think it has more to do with losing the coordinators and hiring from the inside (which is likely related, honestly), but it's an odd coincidence.

I don't remember what it was now, but there was a thing between the Astros and Cardinals organizations, where the Astros basically hired away some of the Cardinals' brains, and essentially started copying their system.

Then the Cardinals had somebody who tried to hack their computers or something, and got caught, punished.

I used to wonder if that had something to do with it, that the Cards org was able to convince MLB to go after the Astros, after they got their own hands slapped.

Painted on? Very much so. They revealed every bit of her...uh, geography below her waist as she was clearly wearing no panties.

I detected her through my peripheral vision and instinctively turned to look. Look, not stare. And got the Death Glare for my efforts.

Okay, fiiiiiiiiine. If you ladies are going to run around displaying the goods, you gotta expect someone to look.

Nothing. Just like the studies say nothing about 99.9% of all the other medical conditions out there. Because they weren't studied.

Pfizer etc. sealed all their records because their studies were conducted by a meth'd out tranny janitor, on it's lunch hour, in a Wuhan leper colony's hospice ward during a power failure in a blizzard during an eclipse.

I spent enough time with emerging technology versions 1.0a to know to take a 'wait and see' attitude toward the jab. Limit exposure to public places and plain old wait for the results of their animal studies. So I waited and waited and waited, then realized if they weren't releasing those results that they were taking a monumental risk on humans. So 'wait and see' became 'no way'.

Vaccine associated enhanced disease (VAED) is a real thing in animal testing of corona type virus. Every vaccine tested before 2019 had produced VAED in animals.

Former colleague used to be an NFL physician. Just before final contracting all new players are given an astronaut level work up, stress testing, echocardiograms, MRI's the whole deal, looking for things like idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis (the classic drop dead on the field disease), cardiac ischemic disease, etc. so that stuff is much less likely. Periodic less invasive checkups also.

Unfortunately, subtle injury from either COVID infection OR induced (vax) spike protein hyperinflammatory cascade (absolutely no question this is real) may not be found until some other event triggers critical illness when otherwise it would just be moderate sickness.

I don't know if I would recommend 'Welcome to Chippendales' streaming on Hulu. But it is actually one hell of a story about an immigrant who comes to the USA, pumps gas for a decade while saving every cent, and buys a failing nightclub. Then it kinda goes 'Breaking Bad' - to the extreme.

But to your point, the show reveals some details of the costuming and the woman who invented the velcro pants that the guys could strip out of in a split second. The women in the audience went nuts. Some women are 'leg man/women'.

Yes, the first two. No choice if I was going to keep my job and potentially lose my license 'for cause' as this state is hostile to resistant physicians. My wife and I discussed it and as we have medically dependent immediate family that I support, and I'm old and ugly with a large life insurance policy, we decided the job was more important than any potential vax issues. And, trying not to sound self righteous, I was working 12-15 hour days 6 on, 1 one off in the ICU, and I was able to help contribute to the recovery of a LOT of critical patients, and support a LOT of families in crisis. I'm not some medical god, but I'm decent at my job and I saved a life here or there as did my colleagues and our incredible staff.

Prayers for us all, Dear Lady.

408 Thanks doc I have put about 200 people on droplet and contact precautions, enforced unconstitutional stay-at-home orders, terminated employees who refused vaccination, on and on, and more just sick of all the ridiculous absurdity of it all, the insidious growth of an entirely new regulatory bureaucracy, and those damn f*cking masks.

409 this is an image showing the way men rated women on average on the site, and how women rated men.
The men have a pretty clear bell curve, few truly ugly and truly amazing women.
The women rated the men almost overwhelmingly ugly with NO MEN being rated as "most attractive." Basically the women using the site have such high standards of attractiveness almost no men rate.

I think the triumph of "Sex in the City" Gay Lifestyle Oriented Feminism has given women in general an over-rated view of their desirability as mates or whatever.

Almost any woman on almost any given night can get laid here in the 2000's. And it's caused many to over-rate their attractiveness.

Every woman is bringing the "P" to a relationship, but what else are they bringing to the table?
That's a bit like some dude saying he's a great prospect cuz he doesn't beat his women. Yeah, that's some sale pitch there, Jackson. You're willing to do like the bare-ass minimum in a loving relationship.

How many young women actually know how to cook? Not many. Etc, etc.
And it's not like any of the young males are a clear bargain.

411 I have been reflecting and struggling with my own complicity in this ongoing nightmare.

I think that you're not alone. Personally (and it's in no way heroic), I resisted the Coof drama from day one, to the point of being pig-headedly obstinate. Refused to mask up, refused to take the Holy Injection, etc. I paid for it dearly, as I have related here in the past with respect to my family ties. I think I have come to terms with that, finally. In my gut and in my heart, I knew that there was something very, very wrong going on with this and I feel no differently today. For what little that's worth.

As things slowed down I began the transition out of the ICU, too much, too much, too many family needs.

Easing into an outpatient practice limited to very ill multiple comorbid patients, post-ICU care, pre- and post- transplant, long-COVID etc. Owned by a hospital but faith based and we have an unspoken agreement that if I break-even and patients are happy they stay out of my business. So far so GREAT! And yes I use Ivermectin, specific vitamin regimes, nutrition and etc. What is said in the exam room stays there. Mask optional exam rooms, admin still insists on masks in the waiting room. I don't fuss, it's a little thing versus flying under the RADAR.

414 Lots of people have to worry about the shot. I have had people in my congregation who died within a month of getting a booster. Their husband lost his wife I have had people who had a mind as sharp a tack who know can't recall what happened yesterday who had a shot and booster. Could it be a coincidence? Maybe, but it seems highly suspicious.

Cube that effect by having women get constant massive tsunamis of support, simping, and fawning adoration on every social media post by guys who hope they can get laid and women who boost every other woman on the grrl power principle (to their face, at least).

423 Use a traditional matchmaker

People scoff at this idea, or bring up some horror story, but it is any worse than two hormonally charged dumb kids dressing up like they normally never do, acting the best they can to try to impress, and trying to base a life-long relationship on that?? How many horror stories do we know from dating, do they outnumber the ones from match makers?

425 And it's not my place to say this to any of these dear folks-and I do not-"Wow; Do you think the shot had anything to do with your loves one's death, or that the fact that their memory is now shot to hell? How would that help them with their grief and loss? And nobody has brought it up to me who had a loved one die or go downhill after getting one of more shot, I think, because they don't want to feel they had a part in the death, and of course they are NOT responsible because there was so much advertising on this about how if you wanted to take care of others you needed to be jabbed, and my people are good and caring people as are many millions of others.

440 Republicans are girding to take on the Biden administration, and the rebels forced a commitment to set up a committee on the 'weaponization' of the government. The idea had been floated as a subcommittee on the House Judiciary Committee. Its exact structure and membership was uncertain.

According to the House Rules package leaders prepared, the a procedure creates a
'Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government as a select investigative subcommittee of the Committee on the Judiciary.'

It also creates a Select Committee 'on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party.'

441 They're not gonna do any fighting. They'll start, get lawsuits against them, give up, and the Senate will block any real action. house hearings mean nothing, because the DOJ is not going to investigate its self.

I mean, I'm glad they are taking some action but its way too late.

None of this will ever make it to the Senate. It'll all be strangled in the House.

Why did it take 15 ballots to get this weak sauce?

The answer is the Gope doesn't want any of it.

It's all DOA. But there will be table pounding and sick Twitter burns for fundraising purposes.
