Happy Labor Day Weekend! Do you have a little time off? Maybe you could read a book or story to a kid, or more than one kid. Don't have them stuff money in your underwear like a drag queen might, though.

Or maybe you could write a letter to a kid. We need some help getting the youngsters up to speed in their reasoning capacities. And check out the Book Thread tomorrow, too. Maybe see if there is anything suitable for kids there.

Surprise! His media allies took the hint and did not report on the Kabul bombing.
When you don't actually want a message to get out in the Age of Video, the Age of Illiteracy, you "issue a statement" which requires reading, thus guaranteeing that its reach is self-limited.
And they do the same with Biden's -- and their own -- violent street paramilitaries, refusing to condemn them on video.
Oh, they'll attack "Extreme MAGA" on video.
But never, ever the people firebombing pro-life pregnancy crisis centers.
Never the people threatening Supreme Court Justices.
Those, they encourage.
No one will condemn Biden for inciting his shock troops to action, nor for refusing to tell them to not commit acts of violence.
Because they're all on the same page.
They want this.

What is interesting, is to note who SLOWLY the nazis revealed their true plans. When people scoff at comparisons to our current Democrat Party, just remember, back in the 30s the nazis weren't just taking everyone they didn't like, and shooting them outright. They went through the pretense of trials, and apparently were at least partially concerned about the opinions of others, internally and externally.

One mom spoke up at a board meeting for classes fully reopening and a return to normalcy and those a-holes contacted her employer and got her fired.

We are known for excellent schools and they are fucking that up. I've noticed a lot of private academies springing up.

What we would call naive liberals, like Vassiliy Grossman I referenced above, actually thought that the upheaval of the war and the performance of the population would *certainly* mean a liberalization of the system after victory. The people had earned it, had shown their loyalty, etc. Well.

And the homegrown tyranny is of course part of what led to anti-Soviet "collaboration" in many areas, especially western Ukraine and the Baltics*. Or even Vlasov and his guys, Russians who found opposing their homeland under the circumstances the better option.

* western then-Ukraine and surrounding areas had a wild recent history and the various nationalisms and sub-nationalisms of the era are dizzying, it wasn't as simple as commies = bad, anyone else = better

While it's very questionable whether he won the electoral vote cleanly, his actual votes surely matched or exceeded Trump's.

2002, 2010, and 2016 were the last times the electorate (in varying ways, with different specific circumstances) did anything sensible, and seemed to react to reality. A big GOP "win" in November, remember, would be *entirely expected and average, by modern patterns*.

As before - and why Trump was a gamble taken, and a gamble won, by those seeking actual change - problem remains whether that "Vote GOP!" button is any longer connected to something called "Actual policy results".

This summer, they completed their summer reading and much more, practiced their printing, and the 9 year-old practiced cursive. They made progress in their geography workbooks, worked with rulers and learned some basic geometry. It was easy and fun. And it helped that they were relaxed after mornings at tennis camp.

Workbooks are cheap. So are paper, rulers, and writing supplies. There is no logical reason not to teach kids academic skills.
