I studied for a master's degree in education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2015. My program was batty. We made Black Lives Matter friendship bracelets. We passed around a popsicle stick to designate whose turn it was to talk while professors compelled us to discuss our life's traumas. We read poems through the "lenses" of Marxism and critical race theory in preparation for our students doing the same. Our final projects were acrostic poems or ironic rap videos. Until now student borrowers have enjoyed a moratorium on principal payments and accruing interest has been getting permanently forgiven. Worth $5000 to the average borrower so far (many have large balances).
So the new Biden deal will require them to start paying in 2023, and $10K/$20K in forgiveness will leave many with still large balances. And they should pay taxes on the forgiveness. When do they wake up and see that their alma maters fucked them big time. Posted by: Ignoramus at August 27, 2022 11:39 AM (i0slg) 25

The goal of "Whiteness studies" is to get white people and others who "enact whiteness" to become "race traitors" and "eliminate the concept of race".
I think the "race baitors" have already accomplished that mission. Being a Mexican citizen or being a Muslim is enough distinction to be considered a "race". I'm guessing that people who have been raised in a Day Zero culture, where there is no objective history do not have the mental structure, vocabulary and discipline to contemplate genetics and ancestry outside of categorical depictions such as "European Colonizers". In the Thousand Genome Project (1KP) Dr Nathanial Jeanson has performed a lot of work that largely demonstrates that we are far more closely related than what the race hustlers and evolutionists want us to believe. To believe in "race" in a Critical Theory context is absolutely absurd, particularly since their CT Matrix is based on demonstrably arbitrary criteria. (why not consider left-handedness or attached/detached earlobes as race indicators? Why melanin content and presumed deep ancestry as if our heritage is less branched than royal blue bloods) Posted by: Reuben Hick at August 27, 2022 11:50 AM (3hSHB) 56

It is such a stupid concept that all humans are exactly equal and the inly thing which creates differences is our experience.
You need to define "equal". Clearly we are not equal in terms of social status, physical and mental attributes. In orthodox Protestant religious terms, most people are vessels of Wrath and will see eternal destruction while some will see Glory. Our brains are wired differently so some will seek success, others will seek a drug habit. Men are generally stronger than women. Some people are left brained others more right brained. There are congenital defects and advantages that augment whatever experiences or disciplines are built upon it. I submit that "created equal" is a simple expression for a well defined context. The idea that slaves were "created equal" to freemen begs challenging what the contemporary understanding of "equal" actually embraced. Posted by: Reuben Hick at August 27, 2022 11:57 AM (3hSHB) 63

So the new Biden deal will require them to start paying in 2023, and $10K/$20K in forgiveness will leave many with still large balances. And they should pay taxes on the forgiveness.
Have we all just accepted this completely and totally unconstitutional act as "ok" we are just whining about the inflation effects and moral/ethical hazards? Posted by: N.L. Urker, my trench is full of chickens at August 27, 2022 11:59 AM (eGTCV) ---------- Check the power strip first. Make sure the cord is plugged in properly in the back of the computer, and, then check the other end where it plugs into the power strip. Believe it or not, single outlets in a power strip have been known to go bad. If that doesn't do anything, then, check the power supply where the cord plugs into the system. Some power supplies have on/off switches on them, or, a switch to convert between 110/220 and make sure that's not been moved. (this is very rare, but, is known to happen) After that, still nothing, no lights, probably power supply. Posted by: N.L. Urker, my trench is full of chickens at August 27, 2022 12:03 PM (eGTCV) Unless the cord has been abused, not likely. The power supply is actually always "on", and could have been damaged by a voltage spike over night. Unplug the main cord. Wait a few minutes, then, plug the cord back into the outlet. See if it fires up. If not, time to replace the supply. Usually the electrolytic capacitors fail after a number of years. Easier to replace the supply. "81 Student loan debt payoff...
Types Deletes. I can't even. Posted by: Diogenes at August 27, 2022 12:03 PM (anj39)" It's simultaneously a huge waste of money while also not accomplishing anything meaningful for borrowers. 10k, 20k if you had pell grants - means fuckall vs. the loan totals students have these days. The primary group benefiting from this are dropouts who only went to school for a year or so. Meanwhile, I've pointed out before - I had ~45k - that's 45 thousand fucking dollars - tacked onto my student loan debt via paperwork fuckups after Obama's loan nationalization, wherein my privately serviced loan note was seized by the feds and farmed out to some shit fly-by-night operation. I know 2 other people who also had 20-40k tacked on. Years later none of us have been able to resolve the matter because the original loan notes on the servicer end got tossed; it's nothing more than an entry in a database somewhere now. We all make well over the cutoff for this nonsense - not that we want handouts anyways - but the whole situation is pretty infuriating. There is no accountability anywhere. Liz Warren Tweeted out something interesting yesterday - she said that over two-thirds of student debt is held by women - so this is a "women's issue".
You have to admire the audacity - colleges and universities are increasingly hostile to men, so men are avoiding going to college (and the men who do go to college are concentrated in the lucrative majors, like engineering). So, the student loans are now primarily going to pay for Buffy's gender studies degree, Buffy's theater degree, or any other degree that Buffy chooses to take that is very unlikely to pay for itself. And the men who chose not to go to college get to pay for it. Posted by: The ARC of History! at August 27, 2022 12:18 PM (I2/tG) 121

Yeah but I'm not certain that really is significant. Yes it shows that a lot of the degrees they are graduating students with are not of any real world value. The thing is, a classical education, a proper university degree is not supposed to be a trade school. You should not be going to college to get a great job, you should be going to learn to be a better, wiser, more educated person who knows better how to reason, analyze, and lead. The purpose of higher education is not to get a job, its to become a better citizen and ready to lead the future. Measuring how many people get what great jobs from college is like measuring how many popcorn bags a movie sold. A movie's purpose is entertainment, the popcorn is a side effect. My advice? Take the money and run. If you have moral qualms, ask yourself this: has the federal government spent more or less than $5,000 of your money on stupid and/or evil shit you would not willingly have spent it on? If the answer is more, (and I'm betting it's a helluva lot more) you're basically just getting some of your stolen money back. Or so I see it. As far as textbooks go, Amazon has done a lot to bring the costs down. Students are no longer a captive audience for the college book store. I am making $85 an hour working from home. i was greatly surprised at the same time as my neighbour advised me she changed into averaging $95 however I see the way it works now. I experience mass freedom now that I'm my non-public boss.

What is missing in that stupid equality/equity picture is a pile of wood and tools lying free for everyone to use off picture. You start off equal. You build up as much as you have ability and will to build.
Also missing is the off screen part where in the equity part the government has taken away the money and ability build of everyone to make things for themselves. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at August 27, 2022 02:32 PM (Ivdso) 319
My corpo doc (see above) asked the obligatory paperwork question about the shot, but that was it. Totally perfunctory, no further discussion about it or anything C19 related. No gun talk, but the guy looked like a hunter so he probably could if the conversation went that way.
The one frustration is that I asked twice to get an antibody test as part of the blood-test suite, and they didn't do it so I had to return later. I want to chalk this down to an honest mistake, and it probably was, but the corrosive long term effect of industry-wide Branch Covidianism is I now have to question such things. Wow... Looky there... suddenly the MSM is ALL IN on supporting the FBI, with Epic Tales of their crime fighting!
Latest? FBI seized a Canopic Jar used for mummy guts... because it violated some antiquities treaty... Clearly stopped the Mummy apocalypse, which is good, as Brandon Fraiser is like way old and overweight. Posted by: Bad 80's Comic at August 27, 2022 02:43 PM (oHd/0) 321

They say Rick Scott is - burning through the money - however, the article also says Republicans are being out spent by the Democrats. So lies and distortion but the numbers come from the report.
"The NRSC’s retreat came after months of touting record fundraising, topping $173 million so far this election cycle, according to FEC disclosures. But the committee has burned through nearly all of it, with the NRSC’s cash on hand dwindling to $28.4 million by the end of June," https://bit.ly/3wBDNyi 1 of 2 Posted by: Braenyard, _ want nuremberg trials? badger your congressman at August 27, 2022 02:58 PM (Yra+J) 325

... the committee disclosed spending $23 million on ads, > $21 million going into text messages > $12 million to American Express $13 million on consultants $9 million on debt payments and $7.9 million renting mailing lists Pat Dennis, of American Bridge, a Democratic research organization, said they also spent $1.1 million in opposition research, which as a researcher isn't nearly enough. https://bit.ly/3dYHMi3 Question; What candidates were recipients of the money? How do they go through most of their money almost six months before the general election? You do the big ad blitz in September and October, everyone knows this.

On the NRSC money spending the articles indirectly mention the conflict between McConnell and Scott. McConnell always saying either "grim choices" or "poor choices" of candidates, obviously alluding to Trump candidates.
All the articles revolve around this quote, "but the problem goes back to Trump. If Donald Trump pulls out of the GOP Senate primaries, Republicans (Mercowski & Co) are in a better position to take back the US Senate."- a variant of this and McConnell's is virtually if not actually repeated in every article so far. If Trump's people win they know their PLAY is doomed. They are desperate. ... Still looking for any candidate he spent the money on but have discovered that they are going ape shit over his Eleven Point Plan for the senate. They being McConnell and the Democrats. Per the Daily Caller, Here Are Scott’s Points Of Focus (on the Eleven Point Plan):
_ Every child in every school to say the pledge of allegiance, stand for the national anthem, and learn that America is the greatest country in this world. _ A complete end to racial politics. _ Treating Socialism as a foreign adversary and we will use all force to stop it from destroying our country. _ The end to our economic relationship with communist China. _ Term limits not only for politicians but also for government bureaucrats. _ -Common sense…such as…men are men, women are women, there are 2 genders…and science confirms that unborn babies are human beings. _ A complete end to voter fraud and for protecting the integrity of our elections. _ An end to the foolish soft-on-crime policies that are destroying our cities and killing innocent Americans. _ Securing our border, building the wall, and naming it after President Donald J. Another bright spot today
The Tax Foundation estimates that there are 13 states which could impose a tax on discharged student debt, though they may take steps to make it exempt. “Preliminarily, it appears that 13 states have the potential to tax discharged student loan debt, though the final count could be significantly smaller if states make legislative changes or administratively determine that the debt forgiveness can be excluded, or if conformity dates are updated retroactively,” Walczak said. The following states have the potential to impose state-level taxes on discharged student loan debt: Arkansas, Hawaii, Idaho, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. The highest such tax liability, assuming $10,000 in forgiven student debt, falls in Hawaii ($1,100) while the lowest is in Pennsylvania ($307), according to the Tax Foundation analysis. The others fall somewhere in between, with $700 levied in South Carolina and $500 in Kentucky, Massachusetts, and Mississippi, for instance.
