The Morning Rant

GRATITUDE 2021

The sermon I heard in church last week was about our duty to thank God not only for the good things, but for adversity and very unpleasant things. Last year, my gratitude list was for pleasant things. But this year, I am trying to thank God, and be grateful, for unpleasant things:

I am grateful that my enemies are deranged lunatics. I would be very unsettled if they were calm, sensible, rational, and sober.

I am grateful that the crazies are getting more obviously crazier, because they are just making themselves easier to identify.

I am grateful that evil cannot stand on its own, but needs good to prop it up. Because one day the good will stop propping it up. Or the evil will become so deluded it will divorce itself completely from good and will not be able to keep from collapsing.

(I see this play out every time antifa scum gets into a jam and, forgetting all their rhetoric about 'ACAB', start hollering for the cops to come help them. I think it's hilarious every time I see this. The brave anarchists need the support of the law in order to carry out their lawlessness. Kind of ironic, no?)

I am grateful for the traitors in our midst:

Jonah Goldberg
Stephen Hayes
David French
Bill Kristol
Steve Schmidt
Tom Nichols
Max Boot
the Dispatch child molesters.
etc.

I am grateful that even though I didn't know who they were before, but now I do. I am grateful that events of the last four years ripped off their cloaks of respectability like the climax of a Scooby-Doo cartoon where they tear off the bad guy's mask.

(My only question about them now is, do they still think they're going to one day assume their rightful titles of Big Time Influential Conservatives? I remember one of these clowns, I think it was either Nichols or Schmidt, who wrote a big tweet storm that went like this: "Ooooh, you dirty Trumpists. Oooooh, I hate you! Your day is coming. Not long from now, Trump will be gone. Then what will you do? Oooooh, I can't wait. Because you'll be asking me, begging me to be let back in, and I'll say 'no'! HAHAHAHAHA!!! Suck on it, you awful Trumpists! You disgust me! Ooooooh!" It was a completely delusional screed of revenge fantasy/porn, and it was actually quite pathetic. I think perhaps he had been drinking.

I'm still waiting for them to build their big, bold, sexy, Trump-free conservatism. But from what I can tell so far, they haven't done squat.)

I am grateful that they are such miserable failures, and that the only way they can survive is by being somebody else's tool.

I am grateful that we know who they are, but they apparently have no idea who we are.

Oh, and I am unironically grateful to all of you 'rons and 'ettes who visit my threads regularly with your insightful, witty, and often hilarious comments. I've learned a lot from them and I use some of them as fodder for subsequent rants. You all make this blog the special place that it is. Other conservative sites have had to severely limit or shut down their comment sections because they had become so toxic and useless for any kind of discussion, but by the grace of God, we have managed to avoid that here.

So my heartfelt thanks to you all. And may tomorrow evening find you passed out in front of the TV with a turkey leg in one hand and a piece of pumpkin pie in the other.

As I posted last year, here is a good, 2-minute video on gratitude from PragerU:

AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Prayer Requests:

9/18 – Homer’s Donuts needs prayers for hope, healing, health, support, and strength as his wife has chosen to divorce him. They have a young son. Clinical depression and panic attacks, a constant in his life, are hitting him hard. He says he has such low energy that Jeb Bush looks down on him. The divorce is making things worse, and he feels completely obsolete and alone, without anyone on his side.
10/28 Update – Homer’s Donuts says he is undergoing more frequent panic attacks and fears that the frequency and severity will ultimately lead him to be declared “unfit” to have custody of his son. He has an exit plan in place and will move out soon, but life with the ex-wife is simply unbearable.

10/13 – Aelfheld asks for prayers for her former co-worker, KV, who lost her mother on 9/21 and her grandmother a week later, all while her husband was sick with pneumonia. Prayers for her and her sisters in their time of loss and mourning.

10/13 – Sassy has 2 prayer requests. First is a thank you and praise report. She has made it through the gauntlet of breast cancer. (Double mastectomy and rebuild in Feb, Mar-May chemo, June-July radiation, Sept hysterectomy). She is now free to look towards the future, and thanks the horde for their prayers. Second is a prayer for the Repose of the soul of Gilbert, who died of Covid. He leaves a distraught wife and 3 teen sons. They are strong Chinese Catholics, but fear and anxiety are strong. May the Lord give them peace.

10/13 – Grannysaurus Rex requests prayers for her father-in-law who has entered hospice care. He is a much-loved WWII Marine vet, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Please pray for a peaceful passing and for God’s grace as a comfort for the family.
10/21 Update – Her father-in-law has peacefully passed away. Thanks to all for their prayers.

10/17 – Pollywog the ‘Ette passes along a prayer request for Brother Tim, who was admitted to the hospital Sunday for kidney stones and UTI. He needs both full healing, since this isn’t the first time he’s had these problems, and financial blessings. Prayer that he be able to have rest and peace, not something hospitals are known for, would be helpful as well.
11/16 Update – Brother Tim is healing, but still needs prayers for his job situation.

10/20 – Dr_No sends an update on his daughter, Megan, who we have prayed for while she was going through Stage III[c] cancer of the sigmoid colon. She has been done with chemo for a while and has received her ‘N.E.D’ diagnosis: ‘No Evidence of Disease’. Her doctors and caregivers were outstanding, and it means everything to see her able to live a normal life again. Yes, there’s always the unspoken fear that she may in future get a diagnosis of cancer’s return, but for now we enjoy that she’s healthy again and no longer in pain. After reading the prayer list, and understanding what others are faced with Do_No says he can only wish for them the joy and relief that he and the rest of the family have at Megan’s successful treatment, and sends his thanks to all for their words up.

10/22 - Pookysgirl asks for prayers for Pooky, as he is going in for extensive neuropsychological testing for 4-8 hours on Oct 27, so he could really use prayers today. He’s had issues with similar testing in the past, so prayers for calming and peace would be appreciated.

10/27 – R asks for prayers for himself and the woman he loves. He broke her heart with foolish decisions and now they are both brokenhearted. He is facing a future that will be filled with problems that might break him. He is trying not to fall into despair and could use a boost from everyone.

11/5 – Eeyore mood has an update:
I wrote you a couple of times about my friend's 4 year old grandson who was killed by the child's mother's boyfriend. He got out on bail because he was only charged with Negligence Resulting in Death. The autopsy report has not been formally released. The results could bring an increase in charges. The man is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 15th. I would ask for prayer that the man who killed my friend's grandson be charged for the crimes he committed and justice be done. Also that God's peace be for the child's father, siblings and grandmother so they know He cares for them. Understandably, they are still devastated by this tragedy. Compounding this is that the child's mother is still defending her son's killer, saying it was an accident. If you are on Facebook and want more information, you can go to the Justice for Brantley page or go to the justiceforbrantley.com Thank you for your assistance.
11/18 Update – The mother’s boyfriend is still out on bond. No new charges were added. The tentative trial date is June 22.

11/8 – 496 requests prayers for strength and wisdom for him and his entire family.

11/9 – Weak Geek asks for prayers for his father, who is recovering from surgery. He is out of intensive care but drops into bouts of defeatism. Also prayers for WG’s sister, who is on site and therefore shoulders the brunt of this burden.

11/9 – Krebs v Carnot has 2 requests: First, that his father-in-law William, find peace and blessings in the presence of the Lord, having passed away Saturday after a brief illness, and hat members of his family be comforted and strengthened with the knowledge that their beloved Bill has found eternal and joyous peace at last. And second, that his mother, 3 siblings, and he be granted patience, strength, and wisdom, as they work through getting Mom to a state where she is able to continue to live her life as independently as possible in the place of her choosing, and that all those in the elder care community working with her continue to help Mom see and do what she much through their kind and loving teachings and that Mom’s eyes be opened so as to understand that they, too, will rejoice as she progresses toward her goal.

11/16 – Inspector’s best friend Tom was diagnosed with Covid last week. It’s been like a nasty flu, but he is recovering. Prayers for his continued recovery, that it not affect his job.

11/16 – Inspector’s co-worker Marie was diagnosed last week with uterine cancer. It was caught early, so they’re hopeful for the prognosis, but prayer for healing, and strength for her and her family would be very appreciated.

For Healing:

10/20 – Nancy at 7000 ft is asking for prayers for her friend Timothy, who just had a quadruple bypass yesterday. Tim owns and runs a small business repairing industrial machines, and has recently purchased an old church with his wife Gabrielle, and was in the process of moving when he experienced a minor heart attack. Further investigation revealed he had an aneurismic section of his aorta, a genetic condition, and required multiple bypasses. Pray for an easing of his post-surgical pain and a full recovery.

10/27 – J asks for prayers for his nephew, Tim, who has throat and tongue cancer. Tim is in his mid-30s, married, and has 5 kids.

11/3 – MammaB is asking for prayers for her father who is 84 and having kidney failure.

11/4 – Tonypete asks for prayers for his dear friend Beth’s daughter Dominique who is 36 years old and has been diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer. It has already spread to her liver and appears to be very aggressive. Please pray for a remission and for her doctors’ skill. Failing that, prayers for a Holy Death.

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com

If you see a prayer request posted in a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it to her.

Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after five weeks or so unless we receive an update.

Romans 8:26-27
[26] In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. [27] And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

Monday Who Dis: According to Imdb.com, after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, 18-year-old Cliff Robertson, then serving on a merchant ship in the Pacific Ocean, was reported dead to his family in California. You have to wonder how they found out he was still alive. He starred in The Big Show in 1961 along with former Miss California Margia Dean, who left Hollywood a few years later. Ms. Dean went on to become the vice-president of a major real estate firm, a Beverly Hills restaurateur and a Brentwood dress shop owner.

15 Willowed - so reposting.

----

That's the reality millions are facing with this decision. Companies are banking on people not having the will - or the time and $ - to stand up to this. And they're right. 99% of people don't have the will, time or $ to do so. So the path of least resistance is to go through the religious exemption request process.

Posted by: Clyde Shelton

--------------

I don't know what the right answer is for you. Everyone is in a different situation. I'm guessing most companies don't really want to be doing this - their HR department probably does - but even the company CEO's would probably rather not have to deal with all this. My guess is many companies will not fall through with the terminations after receiving "new advice" and some will end up hiring people back when they realize they need people.

I'd say this - if you are truly someone who has value - you will likely be fine whether at current company or a new one.

39 Biden appears to read instruction off teleprompter: 'End of quote'
By Joe Tacopino; November 23, 2021 9:28pm; Updated
President Biden appeared to have a "Ron Burgundy" moment Tuesday while reading a speech about gas prices off a Teleprompter.

Biden was compared to the fictional newscaster from the movie "Anchorman" when he recited the words "end of quote" after referencing a statement from the CEO of Walmart.

"And, by the way, you may have heard the CEO of Walmart yesterday on the steps we've taken. He said, and I quote, 'The combination of private enterprise and government working together has been really successful,'" Biden said in the speech.

"He went on to say, 'All the way through the supply chain, there's ... a lot of innovation.' Because of the actions we've taken, things have begun to change. End of quote."

The president then moved on to the next sentence.

I'm on the verge of losing a gig that paid me $164K last year. It's very difficult to find a matching gig that doesn't already have a jab requirement, especially where I currently live, but we are determined to stay in a Free State.

I'm prepared to take a 15 - 20K hit. We could cut back a bit and be fine. Luckily, my wife supports me absolutely holding out - no jab, no mask, no testing, even of they fire me. We'll just sell the house, declare bankruptcy, and I'll wash dishes or start robbing banks. Who can say?

I kind of hope it goes to SCOTUS and it's upheld. The last shreds of the Republic swept away. A deathspiral for the economy as companies bleed brainpower like crazy, and guys like me with expensive hobbies no longer buy anything but the bare essentials. Reap the whirlwind, motherfuckers.

57 One other thing to note - if they succeed with the clot shot mandate it will NOT be just take your double tap and if you make it through you are fine.

They will force you to get a new jab every 3-6 months. And you won't be able to claim a religious exemption then.

110 If only there was some organization that could dig into the facts and history of this young man by actually doing some research and talk to numerous people (besides family) that new him and report back to the public Posted by: Ripley

There aren't organizations per se that seek the truth about current matters but you can find 'news' by reporters via the Internet. Plus, foreign sources for US news are less likely to shill for the Dems. So start reading the Daily Mail, the Jerusalem Post, etc. via the internet to find out what is not covered in the US. Ignore your phone pushed news, ignore the tv, ignore places like the WSJ, NYT, etc. JJ and a few others can also serve you up curated links to current events.
Essentially, understand, on current events, you are on your own. Politicians lie to you at all levels, US media lies to you on all levels, and other institutional and societal leaders may lie to you at all levels. Think of yourself as a Soviet citizen back in the day where airbrushed photos told you of leadership shakeups, figuring that conditions were the opposite of what the leaders were saying generally and if the leaders admit a crisis then it was worse than thought.

118 The bit about the sailor wrongly reported dead reminds me of something I heard a while back. A TV documentary mini-series about World War 2 (did Ken Burns do one?) had a guy who was captured by the Japanese during the war. Meanwhile, his family had been told that he was dead. When he got released, he called home. His mother answered the phone. When he identified himself, she fainted. His sister wandered into the room, spotted the phone, and answered. He identified himself again, and she also fainted. Finally his father came into the room, saw the phone, and answered. The former POW identified himself, and got to talk to his father, who mentioned what had happened to the women.

Which is to say that no matter what we put in the reviews, we all get the same rating regardless. Hopefully they will blindly accept all the exemption requests so long as there is at least an attempt to answer the questions.

Wiki: "The broadcast intrusion was achieved by sending a more powerful microwave link transmission to the two stations' broadcast towers than the stations were sending themselves,... Experts have said that the intrusion required extensive technical expertise and "a significant amount of (transmitting) power" and that the pirate broadcast likely originated from somewhere in the line of sight of both stations' broadcast towers, which were atop tall buildings in downtown Chicago."

Part of Walkers problems (though not all) came from the fact that many of the Reps in WI governance are GoPe in heart, if not yet big name enough to be noticed by the National GoPe. These cucks were happy when he was voted out so they could go whole hog for the Roadbuilders union in the hope they'd get more grift and fewer ads run against them in their attempt to stay in office.

WI has issues with the RINO party. Though Scott was amongst their numbers on most things that weren't Act 10.

Posted by: 18-1 at November 24, 2021 11:19 AM

Yep, this is why I am going the religious exemption route now. They specifically stated in the documentation for this mandate that it does not include the "boosters". Only the 2-jab Moderna/Pfizer and the 1-jab J&J. I'm sure there are plenty of naive people who read that and thought "oh good, I can just get the 1-jab J&J and I'll be good". And I bet a lot of people read that and thought "what are they talking about 'boosters'?" as they are completely ignorant that the jabs don't work.

My second thought, however, is... if they prove that the religious test is illegal, then do companies then... eliminate any exemptions and just force everyone to get the shots? Because proving the religious test is illegal wouldn't eliminate the mandate itself, right?

Or would the religious exemption stay in place and companies would be forced to automatically accept all requests and not be able to fire anyone for them.

213 My second thought, however, is... if they prove that the religious test is illegal, then do companies then... eliminate any exemptions and just force everyone to get the shots?

The right to free of religion is a pretty important one.

The Junta is lawless, but it would be another clear line they'd be crossing. Also it would let companies for employees to do all sorts of things against say the Muslim religion that the Junta doesn't want them to be able to do.

220 Gospel of Luke:
11 While He was on the way to Jerusalem, He was passing [l]between Samaria and Galilee. 12 And as He entered a village, ten men with leprosy who stood at a distance met Him; 13 and they raised their voices, saying, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!" 14 When He saw them, He said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests." And as they were going, they were cleansed. 15 Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice, 16 and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him. And he was a Samaritan. 17 But Jesus responded and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine, where are they? 18 Was no one found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?" 19 And He said to him, "Stand up and go; your faith has made you well."

With all due respect -- I like and agree with some of your commentary -- but anarcho-capitalist libertarianism can only work in the world where everybody is as wonderful as we are. Pro tip: that world has never and will never exist.

And since we are teleworking, it's hard to get a read on some people's attitude toward the jab. Some people who you think would be allies turn out to be big jab proponents, and then there are others whom you think got the jab on day 1 turn out to be very skeptical.

Er, Max - you might want to stay away from that IRA analogy. Joe Biden, like a lot of old-line Democratic Irish pols, is pro-IRA. 261 35 Ahmaud Arbery is probably the least thuggish of the recent high profile cases of black men shot while just supposedly minding their own business. Still, any decent investigation would probably show he was a petty criminal and almost undoubtedly was currently engaged in or planning some theft. Maybe he didn't deserve to die but sure as hell was not out for a jog.
____________

We know a little about Arbery. He did have a criminal record. I don't recall all the details, but he'd been arrested multiple times, including for shoplifting flat-screens (I think there was video of that). Of course, his criminal record was not allowed to be mentioned in front of the jury.

The thing about one of the defense attorneys bringing up the condition of Arbery's feet (not wearing socks, had long and dirty toenails, according to the ME) was that it contradicted the prosecution's story that Arbery was only in the neighborhood because he was a regular jogger there. People who jog regularly tend to keep their toenails cut short, because running with long toenails can cause pain and injury (the nails break off, get infected, become ingrown, etc.). Joggers also almost always wear socks too.

Actually, there is a pretty good chance that Scotus won't take the case if the 6th Circuit's opinion is good enough for them--narrowly written on just the OSHA power of issuing emergency rules. There is a court doctrine to avoid constitutional questions if adequate other grounds exist to overturn a government action.

Denial of cert is one way that the Court can avoid ruling directly on the constitutionality of mandates or overturning Jacobsen v. Mass.

Course, without any federal legal backing for employer mandates, employers are at risk for giant class action lawsuits should the vaccine not be safe causing side effects. Including the fed gov as well as state and local.

Link.
https://tinyurl.com/yjhftde4

One of the issues least reported is that Arberry was caught on surveillance video repeatedly at times and dates coinciding with thefts of thousands of dollars from the home site. In addition, one of the McMichaels had actually caught Arberry at the site previously and could identify him because one of them saw him in their vehicle's headlights when checking out the home site. The whole neighborhood had a rash of property crimes very recently so they set up a neighborhood watch (informal or formal, I do not know).

Question: Who exactly would be judging you as rayciss? Your wife? The terrorist sicko outside? All the cops? Or would you be forced to confess it in your next HR CRT seminar? The whole idea of a ring doorbell is so you don't answer the door for homeless freaks claiming uber isn't coming.

If you've seen the movie, you know that when Joe Gillis enters the house on Sunset, he is mistaken as the undertaker for Norma Desmond's pet chimp. Director Billy Wilder, who was a bastard at the best of times, made snide remarks during rehearsals and filming as to exactly how fond Norma might have been of the pet, until finally, before one take, said, "Remember, Gloria, Norma was fucking the monkey."

Swanson immediately walked off the set and would not return until Wilder apologized in front of the entire cast and crew.

Piercing the crust elements during cutting lets the filling in and it starts getting soggy at those points.

Pizza is greasy, not wet, and usually is eaten in one go, or at least refrigerated (congealing the grease and slowing it) and not kept around as long as a pie might be.

_____________

They've seen it multiple times already during trial, but maybe they just wanted to watch it again without the lawyers yammering away in the background.

If I was on the jury, I would have no problem acquitting the Bryan defendant. That guy appears to have done nothing that merits convicting him of a felony, let alone felony murder. He got in his truck to follow the burglar who'd been spotted running out of the neighbor's house. Bryan didn't have a gun on him, he had his cell phone. He was just going to follow the burglar so he could tell the cops which way he went. Arbery saw Bryan following him, jumped up on the side of his truck, tried to open the driver's side door (that shows you how "fearful" Arbery was). Bryan was scared and shaking. He didn't coordinate with the McMichaels; he didn't even know who they were. When he saw Arbery running at them, he taped it on his phone, but he didn't know they had guns until right before Arbery was shot.

394 Here is some detail on the Robertson forgery.

Columbia Pictures scandal Edit
In 1977, Robertson discovered that his signature had been forged on a $10,000 check payable to him, although it was for work he had not performed. He also learned that the forgery had been carried out by then-Columbia Pictures head David Begelman, and on reporting it he inadvertently triggered one of the biggest Hollywood scandals of the 1970s.[23] Begelman was charged with embezzlement, convicted, and later fired from Columbia. Despite pressure to remain quiet, Robertson and his wife Dina Merrill spoke to the press. As a result, Hollywood producers blacklisted him.[24]

So Hollywood was every bit as glamorous then as today.

417 332 I've been following the Arbery case a little.
I listened to Nate the Lawyer cover it, according to him, the 3 defendants lost the "citizens arrest" argument, which is important.
Remarkable how both Kyle's trial and Arbery's defendants trials have the "he shouldn't have been there" angle, but 180 degrees opposite from one case to the other.

Posted by: casual observer 1124

Nate the Lawyer doesn't apparently know about GA Constitution Article I, Paragraph XI. The Jury in GA is entitled to rule on both law and facts which is contrary to many states. The legal fight was over the Judge's instructions to the jury and the jury apparently gets to decide whether the instructions are apt. See Andrew Branca's parsing of the statute in question as a counter to Nate's and the covering of the statutory requirements in closings by prosecution and defense. Defense is arguing totality of circumstances, prosecution is arguing that a higher std. applies, final judge's instructions to jury are muddled. BTW, GA courts use textualism and originalism to interpret the state's Constitution and statutes so this might be an appellate issue going forward if convictions are obtained.

Yep, which is why anyone thinking logical about this would realize that the "weekly testing" is being done as punishment, not as following "the science". And HR is counting on people thinking that it will be easier to get 1 or 2 jabs and be done with it than to go through the hassle of weekly testing.

I just don't see smoky flavor gravy being any good (much less, how would I get the drippings?) so I'll brine the sucker overnight and throw it on the smoker first thing in the morning. Skip the gravy and stuffing, and do an au gratin potato thing instead. Luckily I have a nice Traeger hardwood blend on hand - I've been doing mostly beef so it's been oak or mesquite. 471 Remarkable how both Kyle's trial and Arbery's defendants trials have the "he shouldn't have been there" angle, but 180 degrees opposite from one case to the other.
___________

Both cases also involve somebody who got shot dead after he decided to attack a person holding a shotgun pointed at him. Never a smart move.

I'm still amazed at the fix this poor Bryan guy is in. He's probably had to spend his life savings on his defense, and he's looking at the possibility of spending the rest of his life in prison on a felony murder conviction, all because he followed somebody in his truck. He is a great example of why people who've been involved in a shooting, even just minimally, should NEVER talk to cops without their lawyer present. The prosecutors knew Bryan didn't really do anything, but they massively over-charged him as a means of trying to force him to flip on the McMichaels. It didn't work, but Bryan's life is still ruined.

Posted by: TrivialPursuer--F*ck Joe Biden at November 24, 2021 12:39 PM (k4dH2)

472 I listened to Nate the Lawyer cover it, according to him, the 3 defendants lost the "citizens arrest" argument, which is important.
=====

Yeah. After that, I don't see how a jury could conclude that the McM's aren't guilty.

Their defense was that it was an attempted citizen's arrest. The judge said that it could not have been a legal citizen's arrest, because the suspected felonies had been much earlier. And if it's wasn't a legal arrest, then they must be guilty of the attempted unlawful detention or false imprisonment or whatever it was.

And that I think implies that they're also guilty of the associated felony murder count. (Unless you think that Arbery's attempt to rush him wasn't a reasonable reaction to being followed by a guy who pops out of his truck holding a shotgun.)

I have no shortage of any herbs, rosemary, thyme, marjoram, oregano(s), parsley, basil... but citrus is another matter. Preferably I'd put some into my brine - I've never *not* had citrus trees in the yard until now. Weird. Oh well, at least the weather is nice so the smoker's an option, and I got a brand new unopened bag of pellets (I usually wind down a bit this time of year).

Good Lord,
I was beginning to think that no one would make that joke.

Thanks.

487 (Unless you think that Arbery's attempt to rush him wasn't a reasonable reaction to being followed by a guy who pops out of his truck holding a shotgun.)
__________

Yeah, that's not exactly how it happened, according to the testimony. The McMichaels lost sight of Arbery, so they parked their truck on the road at a point where it's elevated, and they could see the neighborhood, including their house. Travis McMichael is standing outside his truck, looking around to see if he can see Arbery. His gun is still in the truck cab. He sees Arbery running toward them, and he yells at Arbery to stop. Arbery keeps running toward him. At that point, Travis McMichael reaches into the truck and gets the gun. Arbery sees that, so he runs around the back side of the truck, then jumps McMichael and tries to take the gun from him.

491 Re Cliff Robertson, the writer of Indecent Exposure, the book about this mess, is a lifetime friend. Dave McClintick. He said Robertson was your basic New England Protestant to the bone. He absolutely couldn't comprehend what was happening. In the beginning he assumed it was a mistake to be corrected. When he found someone was actually being DisHonest, he dug in his heels. Hollywood couldn't believe anyone would do that, so they kept pushing.

And yes, the Merrill in his wife's name was from one founder of Merrill Lynch and her mother was a Post, as in Post cereals. So money was not a problem.

492 With all due respect -- I like and agree with some of your commentary -- but anarcho-capitalist libertarianism can only work in the world where everybody is as wonderful as we are. Pro tip: that world has never and will never exist.

Historically, anarchy ALWAYS leads to tribalism, which ALWAYS leads to one or more battling authoritarian warlords -- with concomitant destruction, desk, and slavery/tyranny. And I believe you are smart enough to know this

"Fantasy?"

One or more battling warlords isnt what we're living right now?

Also.... The overwhelming majority of human existence has been spent in anarchy.

Also.... Just because there MIGHT BE negative associated with anarchy, doesn't mean that it shouldn't be the mark - there are negatives associated with EVERY social and governmental idea but people still support those... Slavery? Like in China or for profit prisons?

497 I am grateful that the leftists hate/despise/loathe me for all the following reasons: Because God blessed me with U.S. citizenship by birth. Because I am a native of the deep red state of Wyoming. Because my ancestors were white people that left Europe more than 250 years ago. Because my family and I are Christian and attend church regularly. Because God made me male. Because God made me over 6' tall. Because God gave me an IQ that is higher than the median value. Because I am well educated (BSME UW, MSME Purdue, PhD Stanford). Because I am married to a woman of color. Because my children are well-behaved, healthy, athletic, bright, talented, attractive, and of mixed race. Because my family and I are debt free.

I could go on. What's the point? The point is that left hates me in the same way that Cain hated Abel.
Abel had done nothing wrong.
This hatred of good/virtue/merit dates all the way back to the very beginning of the human race.
It is primal attribute of human nature.
Is there any wonder why our situation continues to deteriorate?
