In Briefing for Columnists, Obama Says He Might Not Have Appreciated The Concern Over the Paris and San Bernadino Attacks Because He Blew Off Watching Cable News During Those Attacks;
Realizing This Looks Bad for Obama, The New York Times Deletes It

Police have a word for a perp who kills another perp, and then leaves so much evidence against him he gives himself an easy trip to the gas chamber -- a two-way hero. He was a hero for killing the other perp, and he was a hero for essentially prosecuting himself for that crime.

The New York Times is a Two-Way Hero. They not only highlighted this admission of Obama by deleting it, but they've now left evidence of their ridiculous partisan drive to actively destroy the news in order to serve as handmaidens of the White House Communications shop.

The only question is: What was he watching on TV instead of news about the terrorist attacks? I know he was watching TV, because this is one TV-watchin' motherf***er.

More from Allah.

Update: The headline began straight neutral and bland (the last headline listed; they're in reverse chronology).

With every change in headline, the NYT worked to help Obama, or accuse Republicans of "assailing" him.

Instead, it was Obama going out to reassure the nation by robotically repeating the same anodyne message in the same words ("no credible threat") which he had previously conveyed just a short time before the San Bernardino jihadi massacre.

Uh, hey, buddy? You can no longer claim that threats are not credible, not after it having been empirically demonstrated that your administration is unable to competently assess their credibility.

87 So in Obama's brain, his response was Spock-like and rational. He didn't understand that our irrational lizard brains could be worried about something so inconsequential.

We've all heard the argument. Statistically, in the US, a terrorist attack is unlikely to personally affect you. Therefore the rational way to de-fang terrorists is to not give them a reaction.

The problem with this asinine argument is twofold. First, it's a static analysis. If we continue to treat terrorism as a law enforcement problem and don't use political options available to us, the problem will increase. By political options, I'm referring to securing the border and stopping the import of people from war zones that think these tactics have merit. Also available to us is the Israeli model of targeted assassinations of leadership members of these groups.

The second problem is it ignores the true strength of the impact of the attack. If you only look at numbers of killed/injured and not the entire scope of influence and damage, of course the problem looks smaller. There are financial impacts, psychic impacts on the families, ongoing medical assistance to the injured, increases in first responder time and budgets, and on and on and on.

Obama flatters himself by claiming to himself he's looking rationally at how small the impact is in the great scheme of things. That's cover for being an unfeeling bastard and more, a small mind that cannot comprehend the true scope of an event.

113 We've all heard the argument. Statistically, in the
US, a terrorist attack is unlikely to personally affect you. Therefore
the rational way to de-fang terrorists is to not give them a reaction.

The second problem is it ignores the true strength of the impact of
the attack. If you only look at numbers of killed/injured and not the
entire scope of influence and damage, of course the problem looks
smaller. There are financial impacts, psychic impacts on the families,
ongoing medical assistance to the injured, increases in first responder
time and budgets, and on and on and on.

Obama flatters himself by claiming to himself he's looking
rationally at how small the impact is in the great scheme of things.

So the only information stream he's interested in is the one he has less control over. That's why he's getting news from the networks. That's partially to respond to whatever events are getting public traction, but also partially because it's MORE reliable than the gov't analysis.

The cost of the recent Paris attacks in terms of physical damage and lost wages is trivial...perhaps a few $100,000,000s. But the ramping up of the French security apparatus is costing billions. And even the short-term loss of tourist $$ is huge.

How much has DHS cost us just at the airports since 9/11? Lost productivity...wasted time...bloated payrolls....

139 New Russian Air Defenses in Syria Keep U.S. Grounded

Russia's military operations inside Syria have been expanding in recent weeks, and the latest Russian deployments, made without any advance notice to the U.S., have disrupted the U.S.-led coalition's efforts to support Syrian rebel forces fighting against the Islamic State near the Turkey-Syria border, just west of the Euphrates River, several Obama administration and U.S. defense officials told us. This crucial part of the battlefield, known inside the military as Box 4, is where a number of groups have been fighting the Islamic State for control, until recently with overhead support from U.S. fighter jets.

But earlier this month, Moscow deployed an SA-17 advanced air defense system near the area and began "painting" U.S. planes, targeting them with radar in what U.S. officials said was a direct and dangerous provocation. The Pentagon halted all manned flights, although U.S. drones are still flying in the area. Russia then began bombing the rebels the U.S. had been supporting. (U.S. manned airstrikes continue elsewhere in Syria.)

Inside the top levels of the administration, officials are debating what to do next. The issue is serious enough that Secretary of State John Kerry raised it with Russian President Vladimir Putin when they met on Tuesday, and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General John Dunford has discussed it with his Russian counterpart as well, a spokesman for U.S. Air Force Central Command told us.

"Inside the top levels of the administration, officials are debating what to do next."

After an extensive debate regarding options, Obama administration officials decide upon the option of debating extensively.

173 >>The cost of the recent Paris attacks in terms of physical damage and lost wages is trivial...perhaps a few $100,000,000s. But the ramping up of the French security apparatus is costing billions. And even the short-term loss of tourist $$ is huge.

Which is why one of the first things Bush did after 9/11 was to emphasize that people should continue with their lives. Of course the msm trashed him for telling American's to "go shopping" because Bush dumb.

True enough. I engaged in a little literary license in order to set up the punch line.

177 Neo described why people are so anxious -- and honestly, why would Obama understand this given he's convinced we're all bigoted rednecks?

In addition, not long before these attacks occurred, the West had been rocked by a massive influx of so-called "refugees" from Syria --- home of ISIS --- and the concomitant fears about who they were and why they were on the move from the relative safety of their refugee camps in Turkey and other Muslim countries. Europeans and Americans feel helpless in the face of their leaders' failure to protect them, or to even acknowledge there might be something wrong with accepting all these refugees at this point.

In short, they --- and we --- feel vulnerable, unacknowledged, not listened to, betrayed, and literally disarmed in the face of a hidden enemy that has been revealed to have been as ruthless and bloodthirsty as the villains in a terrible nightmare. Only this nightmare is real.

For me there's another dynamic that (ahem) trumps all of the feelings above: I feel like we're being played for chumps, and that pisses me off more than anything.

Yes, good point.

Such as how they lie in such as way that you know they're lying. Intentionally, just to rub our noses in it.

183 His initial response is what he really thinks: he thinks that we're all irrational and immature because we allow ourselves to be spooked by Cable News and "terrorism".

You can see it in the "you are more likely to be killed by X than by terrorism" memes within your facebook timeline and we saw it when John Kerry was running for President. They don't think that they are obligated to protect us from terrorism. They are obligated to control every aspect of our lives, domestically.

ace,

It should also be noticed how utterly out of touch the NYT must be to have not immediately realized how damaging Obama's admission is! That's why the NYT didn't think twice about straight reporting what Obama said.
So Obama is not alone in the incredible obliviousness that led him to make such a stunning admission.

The vast majority of progressives simply do not grasp that the rest of the country is deeply disturbed and greatly horrified by acts of terrorism. Oh, they know terrorism is a big deal and all. But progressives have gotten so comfortable in automatically imposing political correctness that all other sentiments become (at best) a second priority.
Also, progressives tend to look at any significant event in terms of how it might impact their political cause. So the real problem with the San Bernardino terror attack was not the mass murder in the name of a holy war being waged against the US and the West. No, the real problem is that the attack might make Obama and his policies look bad. And that it might cause Americans to wonder if their was a problem within Muslim culture. Those were the progressives' top concern regarding the terror attack.

Anyway, it's very telling that the NYT initially didn't notice that what Obama said was jaw-dropping admission.
