Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Joe Biden's Wife: Sure, Go Ahead and Beat HillaryIn other campaign news, Joe Biden has said forever that his decision to run would depend partly on his wife (and partly on whether his full heart was in it). Well, his wife says she's DTF, and that, of course, means Down to First-Lady.Contrary to reports suggesting Vice President Joe Biden's wife remains an obstacle to his potential presidential run, sources tell NBC News that Jill Biden is fully behind him for another bid. Jill Biden, sources tell NBC's Chuck Todd, is 100 percent on-board with a presidential run, despite reports indicating her hesitation is part of what's keeping Biden from jumping into the race.Ben Carson has said either he couldn't support a Muslim for president, or that, if the Muslim rejected shari'a, maybe he could. Yeah I don't care about this story either, but I figured I'd post it and shut the tab. Corrected: I misread that story about the guy who "asked the question" about Muslims to Trump. He didn't ask the question; he simply had a reaction caught on camera that Business Insider thinks is important or something. Sorry about that. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

I still think the questioner was a plant.
What sets off my suspicions is the guy getting up and hitting three bullet points down the line. "We have a problem in this country. It's called Muslims," an unidentified man said to Trump at a town hall in Rochester,N.H., onThursday night. "You know our current president is one. You know he's not even an American." 1, 2, 3. Like he intended to get those points in. And then had no point, something vague about ISIS. Like it was a stunt to cause the outrage it did. Aw, shucks, my "Don't Fear the Reaper" parody got willowed on the previous thread. So I'll report it here for your enjoyment!
166 "Now that I see the video, he specifically calls upon other candidates to drop out ... " This is Walker's "Don't Fear the Reaper" moment. As you may remember, the lyrics of "Don't Fear the Reaper" are about a boy who is committing suicide, and he is pleading with his girlfriend to commit suicide with him, so they can be together in death. (Blue Oyster Cult has consistently denied this, but c'mon, the lyrics speak for themselves.) Anyway, as Walker commits campaigncide, he also pleads with the other candidates to join him in the political afterlife: Don't Fear the Walker Campaign now is done Voters, donors -- gone. Me and all the other also-rans Can be together in eternity (Me and all the also-rans) 40,000 men and women every day Can switch from Trump to a conservative 40,000 men and women every day Redefine victory Another 40,000 switching every day You can be like they are Come on baby (Don't fear the Walker) Baby take my hand (Don't fear the Walker) We'll be able to lose (Don't fear the Walker) I am not your man... The Hillary story on the sidebar about the mother expressing her son's suicide is priceless. How tone deaf can one be, seriously? So what can you possibly mean? sounds like selective claim of a "Rule" which is not a rule at all. It's irritating to see critics of Trump trying to discredit him with conservatives by pointing out that Trump is not conservative, as though conservatives can't see that for themselves.
Then the very same people tell conservatives that we have to support the GOP even though the GOP isn't conservative either. Bottom line for me:
People want - are wishing for, maybe hoping for someone who can fix the pickle we and the world find ourselves in. This folks could be an analogue to a discussion about religion, because it is going to take a lot of faith - whatever that actually is - to believe that someone - an elected official - at this point in our history - is capable of fixing the fix that we are in. Somebody might fix it. Several somebodies might fix it. But it won't be an elected official. The only thing that is going to fix what ails us now is a totally paradigm shifting new technology. This folks could be an analogue to a discussion about religion, because it is going to take a lot of faith - whatever that actually is - to believe that someone - an elected official - at this point in our history - is capable of fixing the fix that we are in.
People are looking for a man-God to save the world. Political movements are piss-poor religion. Posted by: ConservativeMonster at September 21, 2015 07:22 PM (0NdlF) 298

I don't think the guy who asked Trump the question was a plant. I saw something in Drudge recently saying about 21% of Americans think Obama is a Muslim. Trump's supporters could include at least that percentage, and maybe more.

YAAAAAAARRRRRRR!!!
I want my own personal Gotterdammerung! Or a beer. Either or. Here's a pretty good take on Fear the Walking Dead: http://journal.ijreview.com/2015/09/248097-the- actors-on-fear-the-walking-dead-exemplify-everything- thats-wrong-with-liberalism (remove extra spaces) It's like the creative team for FTWD decided - they couldn't get enough of the lamest, most situationally retarded, most annoying, libtardedest character in The Walking Dead. Yes, that's right. They couldn't get enough of that sweet sweet Dale action, so- they made a whole series where every character is Dale. And when the heck will Druggy McAddict take the Long Nap? Enough with his spectacularly lame ass already. Posted by: naturalfake at September 21, 2015 07:23 PM (0cMkb) 302

163 >>>As you may remember, the lyrics of "Don't Fear the Reaper" are about a boy who is committing suicide, and he is pleading with his girlfriend to commit suicide with him, so they can be together in death.
(Blue Oyster Cult has consistently denied this, but c'mon, the lyrics speak for themselves.) ... gee i wish there were some authoritative source to resolve this question http://podcast.aoshq.com/2015/07/24/buck-dharma/ 182 i didn't mean to "bust" zombie, I just thought it was amusing that we have that podcast to rebut this old myth. Posted by: ace Admittedly, I hadn't listened to that podcast, so I don't know what's in it. But I do know that since the '70s, Buck Dharma has said over and over that the song, while indeed being about "having no fear of dying," never was intended to be about actively committing suicide. On one hand: He wrote the song, so he ought to know. On the other hand: Ever since the song first hit the Top Ten back in 1976, there was an uproar about it being a "pro-suicide" song, and Blue Oyster Cult necessarily had to go on the defensive and claim it wasn't. And once you've made that initial claim (that it's NOT about suicide), you have to stick with the narrative consistently, which he has done for nearly 40 years. But he has a good reason to fudge the facts here, since he couldn't have predicted the song would be a hit, couldn't have predicted that censorious grownups would seize on the song as the archetype of degenerate rock 'n' roll, and he couldn't have predicted that perhaps, just maybe, the publicity might induce some unstable kid to actually kill himself. So, understandably, he tried to walk back the lyrics. Many people, including myself, read the lyrics and think they're pretty obviously about suicide, and that way back 40 years ago he may very well have intended that as its theme, but has had a completely understandable reason to never fess up to that. Mind you, I LOVE the song, and don't care whether or not the songwriter had this or this intention when writing it. It's still a masterpiece. You talked to him in person, and are obviously a fan, so it's understandable that you accept his claim. And I concede that I haven't heard the podcast, so I don't know how convincing it is. I will say, however, that WHETHER OR NOT he was thinking of suicide when he wrote it, it is generally perceived by the public as a song encouraging suicide even if that never was the songwriter's intent. The narrative has run away and escaped, and can't be corralled Posted by: zombie at September 21, 2015 07:24 PM (jBuUi) 307

I love angry ace - when he's b-slapping some trollish potty-mouthed sort. This time seems more like hyper-sensitive ace, taking a somewhat confused clash of regulars for something more serious. But it's great to have ace in the comments, whichever mode is switched on. As to Trump, someone just above and others (incl. myself) on many previous occasions mentioned that our highest hopes for Trump were to damage/take out Yeb! and perhaps Rubio while also placing mass illegal migration center-stage where it couldn't be ignored without political consequences. Sure, pretty ambitious little wish-list there, but ..... Anyway Walker's early demise leaves one less guy for whom Trump might "clear the field". With Jindal still invisible, we're left with just Cruz. So does anyone want to step up and put meat on the contentious bones of Walker's departure statement, the part about candidates offering a positive message? What "positive message" - that's remotely valuable or plausible, and not low-grade LIV fluff- is being offered by any of the candidates not currently the front-runner? We got here because when things were bad, politicians told us they could fix them, and we believed them, even after the myriads of times they didn't fix things. And when things were good, they told us that they would make things better, and we believed them even after they didn't.
And now, we have helped condition ourselves into thinking that government can, and should, do everything. That they should have their mitts in everything, and that will make everything better, even when the vast truth is that it makes things invariably worse. "Still don't see how you place Trump on Our Side. At what point has he advanced anything that attaches to conservatism, or made any substantial statement that he even remotely interested in anything besides The Donald?"
This is completely wrong. First of all, he's submitted two papers on his stances regarding illegal immigration/border security and the 2nd Amendment/gun issues. He's spoken many times about religious freedom and the 1st amendment. On all three of those topics he has a conservative position. He's planning to release more papers with his stances on other topics like taxes. Unlike other candidates, he's actually signed his name to positions and planks of his candidacy with more to come. He's held the same positions for years as witnessed in his past books and in interviews in clips as old as twenty to thirty years. He speaks daily. Stop acting like he's an unknown or unknowable because that's completely untrue. Posted by: Brad Dayspring at September 21, 2015 07:34 PM (uzr54) 332

Trump is a populist. He is also an old man. If elected older than Reagan. (That isn't being pointed out because Democrats are old.) What else can he do? Also what might he propose? NWO doesn't want to chance it. If G.H.W. Bush passes away any time soon then Trump wins. Based on belief GHWB wouldn't want to see Trump win. Makes as much sense as the Ariel Sharon prediction by Yitzhak Kaduri.
